Google on Wednesday revealed Mercy, Tacha, Mike, Ike and Seyi were the most searched Big Brother Naija Season 4 contestants on the Google search.

Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google West Africa Regional Communication and Public Relations Manager, said that while the housemates struggle for the grand prize of N60 million, fans have been scouring the net to find out more about their favourite contestants.

Eight weeks in, 26 housemates and 12 evictions later, it looks like the most-searched housemates were giving the other contestants a run for their money, says Kola-Ogunlade in a statement.

”According to Google Search, they are five top trending Big Brother Naija 2019: Pepper Dem housemates since the commencement of the competition on 30 June 2019.

”The list is based on top search performance on Google.

‘The fourth season of Big Brother Naija, known as “Big Brother Naija 2019: Pepper Dem”, has taken Nigeria by storm,” he said.

He said that the search was as follows: Mercy, a 26-year-old video vixen and businesswoman based in Lagos loves cooking, swimming, travelling and dancing.

Her on-screen relationship with fellow contestant Ike, as well as her fashion sense and good looks, keep Big Brother Naija fans wanting more and searching for her online.

Kola-Ogunlade said that Mercy is the most-searched Big Brother Naija 2019: Pepper Dem contestant on Google.

Following closely is Tasha, who hails from Rivers State; this 23-year-old social media sensation loves to show herself to the world and the Big Brother Naija stage is the ideal platform.

The businesswoman has grown her popularity on social media through the show and is the second most-searched Big Brother Naija 2019.

The Ondo State Police Command, on Wednesday, said that it had arrested one Mrs. Babalola, for her alleged involvement in the death of her daughter, Testimony, in Akure.

Testimony was allegedly beaten to death by her parents last week Wednesday for allegedly possessing evil spirits .

Babalola allegedly rushed the daughter, who was unconscious as a result of severe beating, to the Ondo State University Teaching Hospital, Akure, where it was confirmed by a doctor that the four-year-old girl had died before reaching the hospital.

After the girl had been confirmed dead by the doctor, it was gathered that Babalola fled the hospital with the lifeless body to an unknown destination.

Since then, the police command had begun a search for the parents of the deceased.

A source confirmed that the little girl used to be tortured by her father, Mr. Felix Babalola, after he was told that she was possessed by evil spirits by a church.

Since the incident happened, the police had been making unsuccessful efforts to arrest the couple.

On Saturday last week, it was learnt that the residents of Ikare Akoko Community allegedly prevented the men of the command from arresting the couple.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed the arrest of Mrs. Babalola. He noted that the father of the deceased was still evading arrest.

He said, “We have arrested the wife on Monday, but we are yet to arrest the father but I can assure you that he would soon be arrested while our investigation was still ongoing on the matter. “

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has explained why it has accepted Dr Chris Ngige’s reappointment as the Minister of Labour and Employment.

NLC had earlier kicked against President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision, but Ngige was confirmed alongside 42 other Ministers on Wednesday and will resume on Monday.

Speaking with The Guardian, the General Secretary of the NLC, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, said that despite the history between Congress and the former Anambra state Governor, the labour movement would not unnecessarily antagonise the Minister.

“We felt that Dr Ngige should not be reappointed Minister, but now that Mr. President has reappointed him, we have to accept that.

“We know it is the prerogative of the President to appoint whomsoever he wishes and that is respected.

“However, we will engage the Minister for the betterment of the working people of this country,” Ozo-Eson said.

The 4-year-old girl who was beaten to death on Wednesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital has been identified as Testimony Toke Babalola.

It was gathered that before the gruesome death of late Testimony, she had been subjected to constant torture in the hands of her parents, particularly, her father in a bid to cast out an evil spirit from her.

The Parish Priest of Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Akure, Reverend Father Mathew Ologun who disclosed this on Friday to the leadership of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo State revealed that the girl’s mother is a member of the Catholic faith.

Testimony was rushed by a woman, suspected to be her mother to the Akure Annex of the Ondo State University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, UNIMED.

The woman escaped with the corpse of the girl after she was declared, Dead On Arrival, DOA, by medical personnel on duty.

While stating that the little girl had serially gone through abuse, Rev Father Ologun said that the church had two months ago got hint of the ill-treatment meted out to the late testimony through the church children’s caregiver, who noticed so many scars all over her body.

The Rev. Father also revealed that upon investigation by the church, the father of the girl, identified as Felix Babalola, who attends a white garment church (Cherubim and Seraphim) within Nao area, along Oba Adesida road in Akure owned up to had inflicted injuries on the girl which he claimed was done in line with his church (Cherubim and Seraphim) deliverance style.

Corroborating, Rev Father Ologun’s position, the head of the children’s department of the Catholic Church who craved anonymity, explained that she observed the girl’s predicament in June during the church children’s day anniversary.

According to her, upon calling the attention of the girl’s mother to the startling discovery, she argued that injuries were due to the punishment she used to get from her father for being stubborn, adding that they were trying to instil in her, moral lessons.

However, unknown to the church the beating and torture of late Testimony continued until she was rushed to the hospital dead.

Meanwhile, following the death of Testimony, when contacted on the telephone, the girl’s father told the catholic priest that his church (Cherubim and Seraphim) told thickmatch.com to him that his daughter is possessed and needs deliverance, hence the constant beating.

He was said to have also claimed that the girl was over-pampered by her grandmother who she had been residing within Ikare-Akoko in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state since she was 9-months-old before she came live with them recently in Akure.

The effort of the Rev. Father who had been monitoring the movement of the father of the girl since the news broke in order to hand him over to the police proved abortive as he absconded after being trailed to Benin garage in Akure.

Usman Adamu, the Nigerien Man that made headlines after hanging on to the wing of
an Azman aircraft that was preparing to take off from Lagos to Port Harcourt, has been deported to his country.

The Nigerien at the center of the July 19 stowaway incident at the restricted area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), was found to be mentally imbalanced after he was interrogated, profiled and subjected to psychiatric tests by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). Usman was deported by road on Friday August 16, through Lagos.

“Immediately he was arrested at the airport, by
security agencies, he was interrogated and asked series of questions,
and later taken to the psychiatric hospital for a test. It was at the
hospital that it was confirmed that he had a mental challenge.

“But despite that, he was still kept in detention for another round of
questioning, which didn’t produce any meaningful result. So, he was
handed over to us and as the law required, we returned him to his
country" an Immigration source told Sahara Reporters.

A former Ambassador of Nigeria to Ukraine who also doubles a Northern elder, Ambassador Ibrahim Kasai has adviced the Nigerian government to continue holding Omoyele Sowore, the detained leader of the ‘Revolution Now’ movement in custody. He said Sowore should quickly be prosecuted for committing treason.

The Ambassador as well came for the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded elections, Atiku Abubakar and other prominent Nigerians who had condemned Sowore’s arrest as he said that their actions were selfish as it was against National interest.

Kasai who revealed these and more while speaking with SUN NEWSPAPER was quoted as saying: “Well, by way of contributing to the national discourse, let me say that what is going on now in the country is not good for our national development; a crime is a crime.

“If somebody said he is leading a revolution, the word revolution alone connotes a change in government; look at our constitution, you cannot change government just like that, nobody has the right or power to just change the government; the only way you can change the government is through the ballot box, that is why the electoral system is there.

“More so, Sowore contested an election and lost to President Muhammadu Buhari and I don’t think he is doing this because he lost an election because for every crime, there is an intention; this is to say he had the intention and he acted; he has completed the act of a crime. When you conceive an idea and you practise it, that is an act.

“What the DSS has done is right, he should be charged for treason and that is all, crime is a crime. There is no need trying to douse tension that he was only trying to discredit what was going on; there is no room for that.”

On the call for Sowore’s release, Kasai said: “The advice of those citizens is not in the National interest; it is selfish advice, we all know that the opposition has the right to criticise but the choice of word revolution is not good; there is no second definition of revolution.“You can criticise the government, yes but also offer a solution. Whatever the PDP Presidential candidate said, and those in support of the act is not in the National interest.”

The former Minister of Aviation Mr Femi Fani-Kayode said he would rather die in the main opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) than to decamp to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

The PDP stalwart in a tweet was reacting to a statement credited to the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo. The VP had advised members of the opposition to join the ruling party before PDP goes into extinction.

Osibanjo who spoke at the 80th birthday dinner/gala night in honour of former APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun in Abuja was quoted by Business Day as saying, “You can see that we politicians are very faithful and very loyal indeed. I can only ask our friends in PDP also to ensure that they cross over before they die! It is time for them to cross over”.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode said “Death comes to us all, including Vice Presidents and Presidents. It is only a matter of time. One thing is clear though, I would rather stay in @OfficialPDPNig and go to heaven than join @OfficialAPCNg and go to hell.”

Fani-Kayode was one of the founding members of PDP and was a minister under the administration of two former Nigeria’s presidents before he dumped PDP to join APC. He jumped back to PDP in 2014.

At the time he dumped APC, he said he could not align with people who had sympathy for Boko Haram, “I cannot remain in a party where a handful of people that have sympathies for Boko Haram and that have a clear Islamic agenda are playing a leading role.
