Every waking hour of the day, you are faced with ‘choices’ to make, that can either add to the richness of your marriage, or could potentially harm it in some manner. The hard and cold truth of marriage is that staying together can be tough at times for almost any couple. To ensure that one's marriage lasts "as long as we both shall live" as opposed to the increasingly popular "as long as we both shall love”, couples should undertake daily connection rituals that facilitate intentional marriage. You win at marriage when you win your wife’s heart. Think about when you dated your wife, it was the easiest thing in the world to focus on her happiness. She made your every dream come true; and you lived to please her. Once your wife knows she is the focus of your life, she will return your love and build a better relationship by your side. As men are different from women biologically, so also are they different emotionally and psychologically. Men are analytical beings while Women are emotional beings. Below are some steps to help foster your marriage: Step 1: Make Marriage Your Job Surprisingly, men who can masterfully deal with conflict at work say they just do not know how to handle marital problems, and they tune out and give up. Why not start thinking about your marriage the same way you think of your job. It’s easier than you think. You will feel more adept at managing marital problems if you use your work skills: long-range planning, active listening, and considering all options before action. And, just like your job, your marriage has many rewards: from personal fulfillment, to a longer, healthier and more financially secure future, to a better sex life. (Yes, studies show that the average married man has more satisfying, sex than his unmarried peers.) Step 2: Know Your Wife If something works for me, it must work for my wife, right? Wrong. It is likely that your wife and you see practically everything differently. Here is where your job skills come in handy. To understand the way to your wife’s heart, you must first learn what makes her tick. A bouquet of flowers may not mean much to you, so it may seem like a colossal waste of money to send them. But that is not the way your wife sees it. To you, working late might be your way of saying: “I love you and will take care of you.” To her, it might mean you do not care about the relationship. If you learn how she views the world, and learn to see things through her eyes, you will understand what actions you must take to affect her in a positive way. Step 3: Be Home Now Most marriages that dissolve begin to unravel in the very first year. Do not underestimate the importance of spending time at home with your wife. Time together is proof that you care. You may have thought the wedding ring was enough evidence of your commitment. But for her, the vows are only a start; she wants you to prove your love for her every day. To do this, you must give up your bachelor identity. You may want to ‘hang-out’ with the boys on Saturdays and Sundays or regularly attend happy hour; If that is what you choose to do, do not be surprised if you arrive home to find a fuming wife that sends you to the guest room to spend the rest of the night. Step 4: Expect Conflict and Learn to Deal with It Most people assume that if there is conflict in a marriage, there must be something wrong. The reality is, conflict is part of marriage. If we always agreed with our spouses on everything, imagine how boring life would be. Disagreements happen even in the best of marriages. There are good ways to fight and bad ways to fight. Those who maintain relationships learn to go into the argument slowly; they avoid accusations such as: “How dare you say that?” and instead share their own experience: “I was really upset when you made that comment.” Don’t panic when you clash. It’s OK to disagree. But avoid contempt, criticism, defensiveness and emotional withdrawal. If you fight fair, you will find that conflict can help you learn about your wife and make you a better husband. When the heat builds up, do not take off in a huff. Loving humor and kind words can help heal the rift. Step 5: Learn to Listen Men and women differ dramatically in verbal communication skills. The average woman uses the spoken word three times more frequently than the male of the species. For many women, verbalizing a feeling is more than communicating a thought; it is a way to establish closeness. Men, you have to learn the basics. When she wants to talk, sit quietly without distractions. Turn the TV off and, while you are at it, put down the newspaper. When she talks, take a few moments and reflect back on what she has said. I realize you know exactly what she is saying or trying to say within the first five seconds, but it does not matter; Let your wife talk, and let her know you are listening. Before offering suggestions to the problems or her concerns, ask her whether she wants advice or whether she just wants you to listen. You would be surprised how appreciative she will be that you are just a good ear. Step 6: Aim to Please Funny, isn’t it, that most people treat strangers better than they do their loved ones. You know that if you treat someone well, they will think more highly of you and treat you better in return. Now apply that principle to your wife. Do something sweet or thoughtful for her; it shows that you have her on your mind constantly. Aiming to please may frustrate you, and may leave you wondering, “When do I get my needs taken care of?” I understand your frustration. But I guarantee if your wife doesn’t feel like you are fully committed to meeting her needs, she won’t be there to meet yours. That doesn’t mean you always have to agree; after all, one of the things your wife wants is a man with a backbone. Before disagreeing though, listen carefully to what she says. Try to determine what she needs, and ask yourself: Is there some way I can make this happen for her? Being a happily married husband means regularly and consistently demonstrating your love for your wife. Step 7: Learn the Truth about Sex Sex is not the overriding factor in either marital happiness or marital distress. And while in most cases women want a romantic experience and men want sex, there are many steps to take to make both parties happy. You will have to start by understanding her and aiming to please. But do not stop there. It’s O.K. to ask (not demand) for what you need sexually. You should be proud of your sexual desires, not feel like they are something to be suppressed. Importantly, learn to satisfy your wife; know her sexual points, be innovative behind closed doors and bring out the sensual woman in her. Step 8: Re-Introduce Yourself Most couples assume getting needs met is, one partner goes half way, then sits and waits for the other partner to meet him or her there. That does not work in marriage: When you are at your half-way point, your wife may see it as only coming along one- tenth of the way. She is expecting you to keep moving, and you will wonder why she is not trying to come toward you. Only when she recognizes you are totally committed to her happiness, then (and only then) can you begin to get your own needs met. If you have gotten this far, you are ready to introduce yourself to your wife. 1: Take a good look at yourself. Are you the kind of guy your wife would want to know? If you derailing in any area of your relationship, clean up your act before you ask to have your needs met. 2: Help your wife learn who you are, what makes you tick, and how she can make you happy. Lovingly help her to see the world through your eyes. You won’t end up convincing her you’re right, but you can help her to learn from you and grow with you. 3: Focus upon the things you did that helped your wife fall in love with you in the first place. Be the person she fell in love with, the man she got all weak in the knees for. Step 9: Tell Her How Great She Is Women loved to be told how great they look, sounds like a smart place to start. Remind her of how beautiful you think she is, how pretty her eyes are, or you love her new hairstyle. Remember, keep it simple and to the point, that is what they want to hear. It takes a lot of courage to do this, but those were the things you said to her when you first met, so this is nothing new. Swallow your pride, trust me, it is those things that will get your wife to look at you like she did when you first laid eyes on her. Step 10: Respect Your wife Men are usually quite unaware of how much women need to be respected. When they are not respected they feel insecure and lose their sense of self. That is why it is so vital for you to take special care of your partner’s need for respect. There are a number of ways to show respect to your wife. To begin with, do not try to change or manipulate her, but rather, honor her needs, wishes, values, and rights. Respecting your wife also mean including her in decisions. It is always amazing when you find a husband who wields all the power in a marriage and makes all the decisions, regardless of what his wife thinks. Build your wife’s self-esteem and sense of security by asking for her input whenever you can, even on the small things. When you make a decision that might affect her, say: “I’m thinking about..., What do you think of that?” or “I’m thinking we should. What would you like?” Respect says, “I support you, you are valuable to me, and you don’t have to be any different from who you are.” In return for this respect, a woman will be able to relax. She will not have a compulsive need to prove herself as an equal, but will automatically feel and be equal. What a wonderful way to live with a woman. Step 11: Celebrate your Marriage When champions triumph, they party like there is no tomorrow. If your marriage is a success, it is not out of luck, fluke or chance; it is out of honed skills and hard work. Making your union work demonstrates more than a personal victory; it is a way of telling your family and your community that you have achieved something special. So take time to celebrate. Treat yourselves to a weekend away from the kids, go to the beach, or pack up a picnic and take her somewhere you can both let your hair down. Then, tomorrow, it's back to work, because keeping your marriage alive requires attention every day. As I conclude, I leave you with this poem to consider the continual choices that you make and consider whether you are making choices that contribute to the health of your marriage or contaminate it. IT’S THE EVERYDAY CHOICES THAT YOU MAKE: |
WORDS FROM A MOTHER TO HER DAUGHTER ABOUT MARRIAGE 1. The wife that wins all arguments with her husband is not wise. The home is not a law court. 2. The wife that uses sex as a weapon in the home - placing embargo, going to bed in jeans shorts and trousers -lacks wisdom. 3. The wife that uses the modern trends and laws of "women's rights" to insult or ridicule her husband simply makes a fool of herself. 4. A woman that makes her home devoid of peace through bickering, nagging and quarrels needs help. A man should be eager to run away from office to be at home, for that should be the safest and closest place on earth for him. 5. Modern-day equality in marriage does not mean competition, It simply means partnership. Taking advantage of such equality to turn around and become the defacto head of the home and oppress the man is tantamount to playing with fire. If you destroy your home, soon you will be the boss of an empty home. 6. A wise wife makes the man feel so good that he assumes that he is the head. Once he gets that feeling, the woman gently wields her power and the head actually turns to wherever the neck wants without a protest. 7. A wife that does not pull herself away from friends' influence and advice or even from the control of her mother and father will have herself to blame. 8. When a man is looking for a wife, he bypasses women of different shapes and sizes to choose a wife But soon after childbirth, many women hide under the excuse of childbirth to let go of themselves. Many stop bothering about their looks, shape, dressing, etc. Within 5 years of marriage, people start wondering if the wife is the man's aunt, even though she is 7 years younger. Her defence is that if he truly loves her, he should love her the way she is but when looking for a wife, he saw people like the present YOU and ignored them and settled for the former YOU. Today, you go to bed smelling of onions.... You go to bed wearing grandmothers' clothes. Why are you playing with your marriage? Love is not about looks - we know But looks enhances love and marriage There is a difference between someone disfiguring herself and the person being disfigured by an accident. Please don't be complacent. As hard as it may be, work on looking like you were when he first saw you and began the chase. 9. If every night you are tired, sleepy, sore, down with headache or fever, "not in the mood," you are a joker, a serious comedian! 10. If your children suddenly become more important to you than your husband, you need prayers. 11. If you assume that as the woman, only you need to be pampered and fussed over while the man is a stone that has no emotions, you need to be pitied. 12. A woman that has the mind of a wife does not excite her husband. Wives are usually complacent and presumptuous. A wife must strive to have the mind of a girlfriend, A girlfriend is always nicer, sweeter, more loving and always thinking of ways to wow her sweetheart; a girlfriend does not try to win all arguments, does not call the man a "useless man", is not careless about her looks or dressing, always smiles and laughs with the man, sends the man sweet messages and calls, etc. Are you your husband's girlfriend in word and in deed? LASTLY, DO NOT INFORM ME OF YOUR QUARRELS, I DIDN’T JOIN YOU TOGETHER, GOD DID, GO AND INFORM HIM AND HE WILL SORT YOU OUT. #RELATIONSHIP/MARRIAGE BUILDER |

Crap!!!...a some virgin guys will bleep you like they have 15years experience on the job. Can remember my first time...was crazy!!!! |
Goodboiyy:Seriously bro, its just funny what politics have turned our youths into. They can't reason clearly anymore. Even when they see clear wrong like PMB's refusal to make his asset declaration public, they still go about defending his actions. |
IbnSultaan:First I don't want to reason what you mean by 'crap from you'. That's rude and insulting. Secondly, we heard of bombings in Kaduna and Jos...if you have an unbiased mind, why do you think this happened? Do you think the checkpoints would atleast have helped at all? Removal of checkpoints had no advantage!!!...it has only disadvantages. Tell me 3 advantages of removal of army checkpoints. If you can't find 3 advantages then rest your case on this issue. |
heneversleep:To solve a problem, one must be analytical and figure out what caused the problems in the first place, then additionally, what we have done wrong, how do we correct it? We can't be going round and round doing the same thing and expect different results. GEJ made a lot of mistakes, we shouldn't be doing same thing and expect different results. These steps by PMB have not given any positive results. Instead it has given us negative results. There was something GEJ did few weeks before the election with bokoharam sect that almost saw the sect annihilated. If I was president, I will continue this since its bringing positive results, the I will also try and improve intel gathering. |
IbnSultaan:All my life I've lived with the best of brains in the army. Even the PMB himself, we've lived in the same quarters in the barracks. I know a lot about military tactics. About insurgents infiltrating army command center, I am very disappointed at your comment. Have you not been reading the news or seeing eye witness videos since 2009 of military persons having links with insurgents?. The world over, terrorists get their strength by infiltration of their enemies. Throw millions of dollars at a colonel and see the loyalty that is within him. Only a very minute few will resist such temptation. The military checkpoint removal was a bad move!!!!..let's not drag that issue because of our love for PMB...let's call a spade a spade...the results of PMB's actions are very obvious to us all....an almost dead terrorist group gained serious momentum all because of these actions. For Heavens sake! Why remove military checkpoints ?? What do you stand to gain by doing that? The only thing that will do is give insurgents chance to move around freely!!!!!Didn't Buhari attend war college? Doesn't he know that after a war, your men should spend some time around there to make sure normalcy is restored? All the war videos my parents brought back from Somalia, Liberia etc...after the real war, UN soldiers stay and form road blocks for months so as to ensure normalcy is restored....Buhari knows removal of these roadblock had only disadvantages to the nation and advantages to the insurgents, yet he went ahead and ordered that they be removed.....!!!! |
heneversleep:Not everybody who posts on politics is a 2 way wire bro.....Not everybody has the PDP/APC brain!!...some of us actually truly care about Nigeria and the future of our people. |
drtwist:I am CHM11 bro, on politics section of nairaland and even in real life I was very vocal against the person of GMB. Though I sometimes lay low because the other option in the person of GEJ wasn't also a good choice. The PDP was actually destroying this country!!!!.....not like APC is doing any better now, they look like they will do worse!!! |
IbnSultaan:But the almost killed insurgency has resumed and gained weight after all these actions. Maybe, the command centre relocation has been secretly infiltrated by the boko haram group as it is now closer to them and far away from the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces who is in abuja!!!.... Removal of military checkpoints at this time wasn't the best. Even with the armed forces + police, it was hard to tackle the insurgency. Then you reduce their strength by removing part of the security ie the army from the roads!!....poor approach at this time.....Results are obvious to us all as many have been killed by the group after this action in a frequency we are not used to. None of these actions look like it will help cut off the boko haram cells. Rather it looks like a strategic attempt to strengthen the insurgents. Its very saddening. |
These are the experiences Nigerians have been forced to endure in the past 6-8months. Pre Election. Boko haram attacks were on the rise and they even attacked in Abuja, the country's capital. Boko haram selected GMB as negotiator with FG, This didn't happen. Buhari said killing bokoharam members is like killing Nigerians. Buhari became the APC candidate few weeks after the APC clearly stated that it had zoned the Presidential Ticket to the 'Muslim North'. The APC did a primary where Buhari contested against the likes of Atiku (new from the PDP, stood no chance), Rochas Okorocha (from the south east, already secured his Imo state governorship ticket by leaving his inlaw as the candidate until after the pres. Primaries, he lost and his inlaw stepped down for him), one other northerner who I don't even know (Stood no chance at all). What happened to the likes of Babatunde Raji Fashola? Or Adams Oshiomole? (Buhari wouldn't have wanted a fair primaries against these people) Buhari won the Primaries and went on to campaign for Presidency claiming to borrow money and making a lot of promises. One very important promise is PUBLIC ASSET DECLARATION. He selected a virtually unknown/powerless commissioner from the south west in the person of PYO. (Virtually unknown because even PMB himself at one of his campaigns couldn't even remember his vice's name-Osunbade saga). There was issue of Certificate missing and/or inexistent. Affidavit was submitted in place of real certificates. Then Cambridge and WAEC made public declaration that Buhari can request to clear the air as it regards his certificate if he has one with them. This was never to be. Recall that some years back, it was on the news that Bokoharam loyalists and members were to burn their credentials to show that they are against western education. Election was postponed by GEJ for selfish reasons and there was serious onslaught of boko haram members by the joint coalition between Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon Mil. Forces. Boko haram almost became inexistent and we didn't hear of any of their attacks during the entire election. Then came the ELECTION No attacks by the boko haram group as they were on the run as the Army was getting on them drastically. Nigerians almost saw the end of the group with almost utmost certainty. Nigerians voted and thanks to the South west, GEJ's simplicity and Jega's ruggedness, Buhari won and was sworn in as President of the federal Republic of Nigeria. POST ELECTION First the Army command base was moved to Borno. Boko haram resumed their atrocities with an unprecedented frequency and weight. Military Checkpoints were removed from the roads by PMB. PMB called Bokoharam members his 'misguided brothers'. PMB says he is open to Negotiations with the boko haram sect even borno residents were against this. PMB ordered the release of bokoharam suspects in the army's care. PMB refused to PUBLICLY declare his assets. PMB relocated Boko haram prisoners to the heart of Igbo land, the pride of the igbo nation, Anambra!!! Of all places. PMB Quarantined VP. PYO at major meetings. PMB sidelines and shortsleeved Tinubu, and the Northern elders keep warning PMB against non northerners like Amaechi. PMB has made 9 appointments already and 8 out of the 9 are northerners. Jega named his successor, and PMB overruled naming his own. PMB claimed to have met an empty account which wasn't true as data proved otherwise. PMB has refused name ministers over 30 days in office. PMB called his Kinsman from Daura out of retirement and named him as Director of the state security. ---------------------------------------------------- These events really makes me skeptical as to what we are in.....some say its too early but I believe diseases like Cancer should be treated when its still young. I am not for PDP or APC...I am virtually not inclined to one group because I am person inclined rather than party inclined. I love BRF and I also love Akpabio.... This said, I must say I am very very concerned about the direction our country is going to. I am a christian with Muslim friends. I respect Islam but religion is a thing of choice. With what I'm seeing, I believe there is a clear blueprint to spread this insurgency thing. Let's keep politics aside, let's think about our old parents and little siblings and children who can't fight for themselves. The dangers are just too heavy for us to be playing lip service to. I am open to learn though, if there is another view to these, please feel free to share because most of these issues bother me as a person who loves my country. |
And the student lay down there to receive 100 strokes while his buttocks is bleeding?.....hmmmmm...even me that schooled in an Army school, a soldier can't do this to me...we will fight!!!!!...anything that wants to happen after that, my parents/school will handle that...one u flog me and I see blood.....na fight straight up!!! |
Goodboiyy:Lol its understandable. We go try dey learn the one we fit learn |
Goodboiyy:I really can't tell the difference as I've not lived in Delta. My Urhobo is not so strong I am damn proud to be called Urhobo. Every Okpe man I know is proud to be identified as Urhobo. |
HonAdepitan:Lols, hope you told him about your willingness to learn and what you know that differentiates the3 departments? Anyway its done, the rest is with the God you serve. Just go and start giving thanks, live a good clean life and show God that you can actually build a track record of sacred service. I wish you the best. Kind regards. |
HonAdepitan:You are welcome. |
What do you know about sales? Please do your research bro. There must be something useful in google..remember to tell them that you are a very fast learner and you can learn and grow on the job as you have a strong passion for meeting goals and targets.
