demmyy4Jesus:
Pls those that have been contacted for interview in Abuja, please type the full number that messaged you, I misplaced my phone and I need to contact them. Thanks
For those in the system or that have once been in the system, what professional courses should be done to get converted or even promoted. Is NIM good enough for conversion. Thank you very much for the prompt response
NIM is not relevant. ICAN, ACCA, CFA etc will get you converted immediately you get chattered.

5 years? ...what's promotion like in Zenith... rumour has it... it is now every 60months... ?
I am not in the system now but I dont think this is currently do-able. Last time I checked, people spend 3-4 years on the same level (though there are exceptional cases).

try and get a new job that will offer u anything above 150k with other boxes checked. Then you try to renegotiate with your current employer.

I don't have an intl passport, but I saw an e passport application portal on Nigerian immigration service website.
I don't know if that's what they are requesting for

Yes, GA
ok then go with any valid ID card, explain to them when u get there that you dont have an int'l passport yet but ypu will get one soon.

I got an invite for the interview on 20th Dec. I just noticed they included bio data page of intl passport.
please any info or advice on thathuh
All staff of the bank uploads their biodata page for reasons best known to the banks management. Asking for Biodata page at interview stage is probably a new development. Maybe they want to confirm your age or other information about you.

Do you have an international passport? are you applying as a GA?
PoliticsRe: Top Ten Things That Will Happen When Nigeria Is Restructured by CHM11: 8:10pm On Nov 20, 2018
Aquariann:
Whoever wrote this is painfully naive if s/he's thinking these are part of Atiku's plan.. There's a reason Atiku and his co-travellers keep shouting restructuring without exactly breaking it down to the points listed by the op (which are noble by the way).

Atiku in clear terms should be able to tell us and break it down

- Is he for state police?
- Is he for 100% resource control? (He has answered this already saying as much as he would like it, Nigeria can't achieve it now)
- Is he for devolution of Abuja powers?
-Regionalism? etc

And not just shout I'll restructure Nigeria.
do your research next time before commenting. search 'Atiku on restructuring' on Google.

Buhari shoots at protesters. He has killed students in the past, during the military era and when he lost elections a few years ago, you all should be careful!

Thanks bro.

I just want to appreciate you for all your replies right from when I was invited for the test. you've never relented in giving out relevant information. I have finally secured the appointment and received my offer letter yesterday. I'd be resuming on Monday.

If you have any advice for a fresher like me, please, I know your benevolent person won't hesitate to say it.

Thank you for all your time.
lol josh josh,..you just resumed with probably one of the best banks in Nigeria. Congrats bro.

Advice?.. huuuum, I would advice that you approach the job with a very open mind. Complain less, learn, dont join the crowd, stand out!..start ICAN or ACCA as soon as possible if you intend to stay in banking for long. Even if you want to leave banking but still stay in finance.

Different branches have different supervisors, HOPs and branch heads...some are total jerks, but the majority are awesome persons. Learn to read people and approach issues professionally. plsssssss never you compromise on your integrity.

I know its a personal thing, but if i was you, i will see this job as a stepping stone to something much much better. This is the time you should rev up your engine and define what you want to do in life because before you blink in this your new job, 6 years would have passed you by and you probably got promoted/converted once.

use this allawee that they will be paying you to enhance yourself professionally; Masters, ICAN, CFA, ACCA, business, skills etc

Very important point: You will see 80% of your contract colleagues complaining and talking trash about Zenith management, they are wicked, they are bla bla bla...bro just ignore, you cant change management from your cubicle...what you can change is the value you add to yourself...keep improving, applying for nee and better jobs, start your life from here.

leave the complaining for the complainers...most of them will still be there complaining to the next generation of fresh intakes...i pray that you would have moved ahead in life by then
i wish you the very best.

tunjilana:
The bills will never go away but tension needs not come with it

1. Draw up a proper home budget with everything factored
2. Since you both work and dream big for your family, funding has to be done by both of you.
3. Agree to a workable percentage upfront based on your income and items in the budget
4. Have a joint account for all the expenses in the budget where u put funds monthly
5. Whoever is more financially disciplined among you should be the major custodian of the account and the implementer of the budget.
6. In your budget, things like school fees, Rent and healthcare should be broken down into monthly figures and included in the budget

With this, it is only serious emergencies that will take away your peace and not day to day running, it will also be easy to see when one party is being weighed down in line with their contributions versus their income. That way you can assist in love or help each other grow
excellent advice

mikeayus:
well said, but whats your definition of made for life? whats the salary range for an exec trainee in zenith?
not in terms of pay. But good exposure and career path in a core function of the bank like internal control. You can easily switch to other industries in the future if and when you get tired of financial services. Unlike your non chattered/certified friends in the banking industry, after a few years, it becomes very difficult to switch from banking to other industries.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Kindly Advise (Unity/Zenith) by CHM11: 9:50pm On Sep 29, 2018
He should take the Zenith job. its 101k, plus other little benefits. if he is smart, he will immediately start ICAN, ACCA or CFA, once certified, its automatic conversion from Graduate assistant to executive trainee and from there he is made for life. If the Unity job was a full staff role, id have adviced that he should take the Unity, but sadly its contract so its not worth it.
CareerRe: Man Sacked For Going For FRSC Screening In Lagos After Lying He Was Sick by CHM11: 7:05pm On Sep 26, 2018
Akexstinger:
He made a mistake. He shouldn't have used health ground as the reason. Next time he will learn to be political. you have to be political in dealing with companies and management. A simple "Hello Sir, I will not be around on Monday, I need to attend to personal things, I will resume on Tuesday" would have taken care of it. it will put you in the position of the boss and your superior will have no option than to give you the go ahead. If he refuses and you proceed, the worse that can happen is no work no salary or query and not outright sack. you have to be smart with companies and management, else they toss you around and make your life miserable.
Also, always try to have good records with company, there are times i fall ill or sick and i am still working which the management will be aware, I will be on treatment and still be at work. Also dont be a late comer. All these things they take note. so, when you tell them you will not be available for anyday, they will not have any problem with that.

Also in your workplace, don't ever reveal your plans to your colleague no matter the closeness especially in the South West, unless you are a valuable asset to the company. Remember anybody is replaceable.
best post here!!

Don't be stupid bro. Whether you're an employer of labour or not, I do not care. How do you even think?

I suppose that everyman is entitled to a number of sick leaves in a year, whatever I do with it is my cup of tea. Before you became a supervisor you were not working somewhere else? How did you find time for your Interview for your current Job?

If you want to apply for day offs, you have to do it way before hand, in some companies like 2 weeks. And there is no guarantee that you will get it.
please loud it so he will hear. Some people have never worked in more than 2 companies they are here claiming supervisors. you need to see a place where things work!..supervisors that have brain and know how to lead...they build a relationship with their team members, so much that subordinates give in over 100% because they are happy to do so. subordinates will be comfy with u that they will tell you the truth, then if business needs cant allow, the supervisor can calmly decline.

Eyaah, Sweetie please calm down.
lol, its his first time staying off work according to the OP. a simple warning explaining the company policy concerning issues like this is the ideal thing to do. Outright sack! thats just mean. Staff are your greatest asset/investment, treat them well.

call a spade a spade.. Don't cover sin/offence with excuses and sentiments. The sack is justifiable
sentiment is why we are different persons with different approach to situations. the problem to me didnt start on the interview day. Its a poor leadership issue. A good leader would be approachable on issues like this. If u are earning 150k as an entry level after 5 years with a company, then u are called for an interview for a job that pays 800k for a mid level in another coy, but you damn well know from experience that your line supervisor is a shithole and would never allow you to attend, that he might even escalate that you are applying for other jobs elsewhere (you have a management that frowns at this). What will you do in this situation?

keep quiet. when you own a company someday you wont make such a senseless comment. i have worked as a supervisor before and i know how difficult things can be when an employee skips a days work for any reason. workload would increase and i have to run around trying to fill that gap, sometimes i have to even do his job myself. if he had applied for a day off thats a different case but he lied. nobody wants lairs around them because they are usually thieves.

his sack was justified. Nigerians especially lagosians always try to be smart even in the most unnecessary and inappropriate places and times. and it often come back to bite.

an employee like that has no conscience and would tender his resignation abruptly regardless of its effect on the production of the company.
i am replying you because i understand where you are coming from. But if i may, some supervisors overdo it and are totally unapproachable. I dont see anything wrong with applying for a day off work, but for this employee in question to have lied, it is possible that he/she must have known that if he had said the truth, his request would have been declined by this supervisor. Infact, some companies here in Nigeria would sack you outrightly for desiring career growth!

truly speaking...if am the boss I will sack u without thinking twice...u going to the interview and lieing about it means u don't respect me or ur job...do I don't see any reason why u should keep the job.... always appreciate what u have.. they are people out there wishing to have what u don't value
this is just an example of a very wicked human being. Most Nigerian Management just want to hold people down on meagre salary. Promote you will not promote, then when they try their luck in other places you want to sack them!...in saner climes, some coys even throw a send forth get together for staff members who got other jobs. Its all in the spirit of maintaining relationships. If you dont want him to go, then you offer him better!.

i am positive that this HOD in question is one of those bastard God playing HODs who forget that they are not the owner of the company, they are just a damned employee too and anything can happen to them someday. Fine, the guy is at fault for lying, but do u think this type of HOD would allow him if he had told the truth? some of them never want you to be better than they are.

ive worked with both the good and the bad, the good supervisors care about your career development both within the company and elsewhere (if the coys current business strategy is not in line with your own career ambitions). These good supervisors encourage you to get additional qualifications, read and gain skills, encourage you to develop yourself, in return you most likely will give in extra to ensure that tasks are completed as at when due so as to maintain the good relationship.
Those bad leaders will just use everybody under them to paint themselves as saints in the eyes of management. such leaders find it hard to deliver on KPIs and other projects because the people under such a boss give far below what they can offer due to the bad leadership method in use.

As it concerns the employee in question, he shouldnt have lied, but im sure he was left with no option. He shouldnt even be working with such a company in the first place.

what happened to warning for first offenders? Zero Empathy as a company!

i think it depends on your location and on a need basis at branches close to you. Mine was about two weeks cos the branch i resumed needed more hands at that time.
