naijamanyoutube: Looks like you've got quite a lot of places to visit. Should be fun, I believe. The good thing about travel in Europe is the flexibility. I've done some of those countries in circuits. It's easier to hop from one to the next especially if they share borders. If there's any tip I'll give, it's to get the Eurail train pass. It would save you lots of money than buying individual train tickets. |

This is an interesting read. @edwonderz, how has your trip being so far? I expect you'd have left Gambia by now. I'm thinking of doing a drive from Dakar to Banjul and back to Dakar. Does anyone have any thoughts about things to plan for or keep in mind for the journey, especially for the border and ferry crossings? I'm a bit familiar with the Senegalese terrain after doing a couple of trips up north to St Louise and the Mauritanian border. Thanks. |

Hi everyone, I would like to clarify how to respond to this question on the student visa application form for the main applicant: "Are all of the maintenance funds required for this application in a bank account with your name on it?" The proof of funds is in the partner's name who is also applying as a dependant. Is it alright to answer "Yes" here even though the POF is in the name of the partner? Or to answer "No" and explain later? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. |

DaDevin: I simply called UKVI contact service, told the lady I spoke to that I find the delay unacceptable for a priority visa application, and requested that she send a reminder to the DMC. By the time we were done with the call, she confirmed that she had sent the reminder and that I should get my passport any moment from then. |

deeejay20: These days, I can say it depends on luck and maybe favor. Some get theirs back in one to two days after decision has been made. In other cases, like mine, it may take more than two weeks. |

Hi everyone. I finally got my passport/visa. Sept 5: Applied for visa (via priority service) Sept 8: Went for biometrics (TLS Abuja) Sept 11: Got a decision mail Sept 29: Application transferred to VAC, received by VAC...and I picked it up On the document that came with the passport, visa had been issued since Sept. 9th. Apparently, it got stuck somewhere and someone forgot to send it to the VAC. Two things that I did that I think prompted them to remember to send the passport back (in my own opinion): 1. Requested for an escalation/reminder to be sent to UKVI Pretoria via phone call yesterday 2. Sent an email to the commonwealth scholarship commission who immediately sent an email to UKVI asking them to send the passport since decision had been made more than 2 weeks prior (I'm a commonwealth scholar). Next step is to push for a refund of my priority service fees. I hope I get it back. Lessons I learnt... 1. Call for help as soon as you can once you realize that there's something wrong. Leaving things to chance might not always work out. I can imagine if I kept on waiting and did not talk to anyone. Maybe they'll send it on time, maybe they won't. We'll never know. 2. Learnt better how to be patient and manage such frustrating circumstances as this. For those in my shoes who have gotten a decision email and haven't gotten their passport back more than 5 working days after (esp. priority applicants), it's better to escalate the issue and request for a reminder to be sent to UKVI ASAP. They seem to be under a lot of pressure as this is peak period plus the COVID situation has made system inefficiencies to be more obvious. Many thanks to all who responded to my questions and complaints on here. For those waiting, may you all get your visas within the shortest time possible. 13 Likes |

OralStone: It's just like you're calling MTN or any other customer care line. Just have your debit or credit card close. They'll ask you for the details on the card before you even get to speak to any of their agents. Costs 1.37 pounds per minute. |

WINNIE9223: We're in the same boat. I applied for priority and got a decision mail on Sept 11, and nothing till now. I don't think calling TLS would help. I've been there three times to complain, and all they say is talk to UKVI, and that they (TLS) are just third-parties. I called UKVI today and requested that they send a reminder to the DMC, which they said they have done. I'll suggest you do the same. The lady also mentioned that they seem to have gotten a lot of applications and that a lot of delays have been happening. I don't know if she was just saying that to calm me down, or that's the truth. You can reach UKVI at +44 20 3481 1736. But bear in mind they'll charge you 1.38 pounds per minute (in addition to your standard call charges). Let's know what they say if you call them. 4 Likes 2 Shares |
