@ Pataki I don't even know what to tell you. You own your mouth so use it any how and even use it in digging your own grave alright. I expect people to ask questions before making conclusions- Have I and my wife lived in nigeria? Yes we have been visiting and spending holidays in Nigeria for the past 7 years. Its pretty bad that you are a citizen of a country and your child is and your wife is not. I am educated and did not just walk into the embassy to ask for citizenship. You should have read the thread before opening your mouth to say rubbish. I called them to ask what are the steps- didn't go there and was told that it is not possible when I know that you can acquire Nigerian citizenship via different means i.e registration etc. So I posted this to ask for directions and not abuse from people like you ok. |
@ prince_onx God bless you . Thanks for the advise. |
@ Akolawole, I did n't want to waste my time when I have seen that majority of the people in the forum are not objective and critical in their reasoning. I asked for help how to go about solving a problem and all I get is insults from people like you. I was told that there's no provision for citizenship by marriage by our embassy and I know by law that there's provison for registration so long as you are legally married to a nigerian. Can to the forum and people started talking all sorts even without reasoning at all. Coming to the british citizen by marriage- Akolawole- you are not informed ok. The provison is that you get the ILR after two years of marriage and get the citizenship after one year of the ILR if you are still in the marriage. Its is optional for you to apply or not but after one year of your ILR and you are still married you are entitled to british citizenship after meeeting other requirements- worthy in character and duration of absence from the country within the three years- If you want education on this let me know, I think I deserve appollogy from people like you who do not reason with their brains before responding. Anyway thank you so much to those who have given links on how to go about this. For all those that were insulting instead of advsing- whatever you wish your fellow man so shall be your portion. May you never get your legal documents either for yourself or your wife and even your child so long as you are based in abroad. Those at home supporting the evil- May you reap what you sow and may God punish you any day you open your mouth to complain about anything in Nigeria in Jesus Name, Amen. |
@ angelloven ---- I didn't come here to be insulted and please don't insult my family and don't make it personal ok. If you don't have anything to contribute please do not insult my veryself and family else I will take it legal. Thanks. |
Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't even believe this is going on. Why can't we be sincere for once. I love my country but I always denounce and condemn the evils and corruptions perpetrated by the leaders and the citizenry. If I am not- my wife would not want to be a Nigerian citizen and I would have denounced my citizenship long time ago. On the other hand- who in his or her right sense of mind will threathen to kill a fellow citizen just because he expressed his opinion. I brought this issue here because I believe that we got mature minds and straight thinking comrades with potentials of changing our father land but unfortunatly the reactions and comments are not recommending at all. Guys we need to grow up. The only way to make corrections is first of all accepting that something is wrong and work towards it. people are suffering at home and we are being rejected by even our neighbouring countries and we are proud of the wrongs we are doing. We should be proud of our country but always stand up against the ills of the society- that way we will have a better Nigeria. This is my stand. Nigeria will be better if and only if we will stand up against the evils and uphold justice. |
This is the type of Nigerians you hated because they speak the truth so that you lot can change instead playing blind patrotism. Arrogant, ignorant and brainless to you maybe but no need playing a gallant patriot in far away Texas, London, Paris, Madrid or New York. You should head home straight away and enjoy the paradise, where the only triving business is politics coated in looting public fund. Anybody crying for being refused a Nigerian citizenship is like the best player in the world crying for being refused to lace his boot for Equatorial Guinea of all footballing nations. @ Eziachi- God will bless you for saying the truth. Really suprised that our new generation still got loads of psycophants. Its going to be a long time before things will change. I thought Nigeria has Citizenship by registration but it looks like it is one of those political promises from politicians. Anyway- The Embassy can keep their passport at the moment- If am desparate for it I will get it through the Nigerian way but I dont wont to contribute to any corrupt practice in Nigeria - The statistics is already high. |
BROTHER I TIRE FOR THIS KIN THING OOOO. IF I PERSONALLY DID NOT SPEAK WITH THE EMBASSY I WONT BELIEVE THIS FROM ANYONE. TOMORROW THEM GO SAY COUNTRIES AINT ALLOWING NIGERIANS TO ENTER WHAT MORE GET CITIZENSHIP. ANYWAY I LEAVE THIS ONE TO GOD, |
Dear All, I was shocked today by the response from the Nigerian Embassy London by 15:57(02/07/08) that there is no provision for citizenship for any British by marriage. I am married to an English girl and she loves Nigeria so much and want to be a Citizen but was shocked when we were told that she can't get Nigerian citizenship notwitstanding that we are married and I hold dual citizenship. Could this be a reality- I am entitled to dual citizenship -British by the virtue of marriage and Nigerian by birth but my wife is not entitled to Nigerian citizenship on the same basis(Marriage) Guys abeg I need some info as I don't know what and how to go about this, |
IF YOU ARE NOT INFERIOR WHY ARE YOU REFERED AS THIRD WORLD COUNTRY? GUYS BE REASONABLE. WETHER YOU ADMIT IT OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN TREATED AS BEING INFERIOR AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LOOKED DOWN UPON. BELIEVE IT OR NOT OBAMA HAS MADE A HISTORY AND MOST BLACKS ARE PROUD OF HIM. IF YOU SAY IT IS SAY- TRY WHAT A LITTLE WHEREVER YOU ARE- TRY TO BE A MANAGER IN THE WESTERN WORLD, COUNCILORS, MP AND MORE REPUTABLE POSITIONS. |
GUYS, YES WE NEED TRAFFIC LAWS BUT NOT A BARBARIC ONE. HOW WILL YOU FINE THE ONWER OF A CAR DRIVEN ON A WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD? HOW COULD YOU FINE A PASSENGER CARRIED BY A DRIVER? I THINK THIS IS MADNESS. THE GOVERNMENT IS SAY THAT IF YOU ARE IN A CAR AND THE DRIVER IS GOING THE WRONG WAY JUST JUMP OUT AND KILL YOURSELF OTHERWISE YOU WILL PAY A FINE OR GO TO JAIL---- ABI? NAIJA;;;;;;;;;;; I WEAK OHHHHHHHHHHH. WE JUST DEY RUBBISH OURSELVES SAY WE ARE LAW MAKERS. I NO FOLLOW FOR THIS KIN LAW WEY GO PUNISH INNOCENT PEOPLE. NOT AGAINST THE MONEY BUT THE ADMINISTRATION. WILL DEY REPAIR THE BAD ROADS? |
@ Pennywise Respect Brother. Thanks. |
Hi Guys, Please don't kill the girl for asking a question. I believe that people are entitled to their own views anytime as well as changing when they like cos the only constant thing in life is change. Coming to the question- Husband in Nite Clubs/discos. I don't see any problem with that. If your husband is a cheater he will cheat whether night club or not. There are loads of places to get attentions from- work place, internet ,shops etc. Even in the church activities. For me it doesn't bother me one bit what my wife does cos I so much believe in her. Trust is the only engine that runs a relationship and when I mean trust I mean trust in all things cos there's a saying that - if you want to have a friend, you should close one eye and to keep it you should close both eyes. If your only reason for following your husband to clubs is to stop girls then you will be in for a shocker cos most girls will come him even before your very before cos you are sort of making him a target. Some girls like married men and you might bring out your husband and make him a target if you act as his body guard in the club. As I said ealier on, everyone is entitled to their views, this is my view and please don't attack me personally if I didn't agree with yours. Repect and One Love. |

I so much embrace the idea if it will make naija better. I font want to really argue about this but let it not be a move sponsored by all the bad eggs to loot more money abroad and thereby beating the money laundary laws. With the money small in number but big in value, its easier to loot. Abeg help remind them to still amend the money laundary laws. i really pray it works out if not! i tell una reall yawah don gas for naija ohh. |
Another about this labour room of a thing that i don't like is the philosophy our sisters hold these days " we started it together and we will finish it together" " i didn't get myself pregnant" and stuff like that, Let me refresh our memeory a bit cos most people seem to have forgotten the little story of Adam, Eve,Serpent and God. If you guys remember its never man and woman started wot lead to the punishment of pains in child bearing, its woman and serpent. How come the ladies are now accusing us of what the brought for themselves. The only help a man can render is to provide for you all you need after child birth and still spoil you with his tender loves and stuffs like that. Guys, if you people start going to the labour rooms, ladies will soon start advocating for techologies that will make you guys carry the baby for few months and then transfer it to them to later on, hahahahahaha. Lets leave the sleeping dog to lie abeg. |
for a very very long time i have not posted anything on nairaland. But this one matter is of very crucial interest to me. Anyway, my wife is english and full engling starting from foreparents. I have told her point black that i will not be in the labour room at all. I will not even near the hospital at all. Will be in the pub waiting for the call and having some drink. Its not a matter of love or whatever, she knows i love her so much but certain things should be kept they way they are. we should not always let the westerners erode our culture. she knows that i am a proud african and also an advocate of our culture. Guys lets be men for once and not been pushed around by waves of western lives. Na so oyibo come africa destroy our shrines and erode our traditions and culture in the name of christainity but today go church you will not see any oyibo for the church apart from the few very old people. This is my view, i know my wife will see this cos she is also a member of nairaland but she knows thats my stand and its higly irrevocable. |

this is a true fact, if you are coming to the uk with or without papers without an already job vacancy and no much money, please forget it ! you will hit a hard rock and will regrect ever leaving the boarders of naija. told lots of my mates but they didnt listen but now they are a hell of troubles. currently theres no job for both people with papers and without papers.both skilled and unskilled jobs. it will be very hard for a new londoner to secure jobs. dont wnt to push it hard yet. |
