Looks like funding is the issue here.
If you don't mind apply to my school Marshall university the same department.

https://www.marshall.edu/academics/programs/mathematics-ma/

You are guaranteed a 100% fee waiver plus a $12/hrs stipend.

https://www.marshall.edu/math/graduate/assistantships/

Message the graduate coordinator and chair of the department.
They are in dire need of master's students as the last 2 just graduated in December 2022.

Goodluck

chibertha Hope you are good
I have a degree in finance and experience in credit, what masters program will you recommend to me at Marshall university with funding as they don’t offer any finance masters program.
Thank you

Lithuania the cheapest tuition you can get is €2600 above then the big problems with vfs visa appointments and interviews, i heard you need to travel to egypt or dubai ( which is unlike atm) for estonia visa

The English test for Estonia one has to take as I have spoken English since childhood is very irritating.

To be sincere.... the VO can't know how many school you applied to..
Only you have that information.
Even the VO can't know how many schools gave you admission

The only form of knowledge comes from the i20 and that does not shows how many schools a student applied to or got admitted to.
Oh really ,thanks for the education smiley

@horlahsunbo225 has answered your question as regards OPT

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, STEM COURSES are for SCIENCE STUDENTS.

Non-STEM courses are for ARTS & MANAGEMENT STUDENT

I would assume your Younger sis is an ART STUDENT, so its normal and appropriate for her to go for a Graduate program (Masters, PHD, GA, TA, RA) in Criminal Justice which is a Non-STEM Course.

She can't go for a STEM course cos she does not have a SCIENCE BACKGROUND
I have seen people with Arts background go for STEM courses especially mathematics and applied mathematics, even computer science.
How about that?

Wouldn’t these VO’s find out that it’s only one school?

Good day everyone!
Someone I know recently had his f1 visa refused here at the US embassy in Ghana. I am posting his transcript here for comments on why he might have been refused.
Thank you. Please the gurus in the house I need your help.

This was my interaction with the VO
Q:What are you going to study
Masters in Political Science and Govt @ Ohio University
Q: Can I Pls have your I-20?
handed it to her

•What did you study at the undergraduate level
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Study of Religions

•When did you complete school
2015, May 2015

•What have you been working since then

I have worked with Ghana’s leading private media organization, Citi FM/CIti TV for the past 5 years as a broadcast journalist covering parliament and othe r socio political events in the country
.
•How did you get to know about the Ohio University
I got to know about the school through one of my lecturers during undergrad, Dr Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission who is an alumnus of Ohio University. When the time was for me to think about pursuing graduate studies, I researched on the school, like the course structure and course concentrations on offer and put in my application which has been successful.

•Did you apply to any other schools apart from Ohio University
Yes, two other schools, Columbia University and Northeastern University

• I see you have funding, who is paying for the other part of the funding

A:My Uncle, Richard Assuming
What does he do
He is a contractor, he executes government projects mainly in the educational sector
Do you have a supporting document fr him
Yes; his bank statement.
(Hands bank statement to her)
• Does he have any kids
Yes
• How old are they
Five and Seven
•What are your plans after studies
I would come back and continue with my media job and also set up a parliamentary civil society group based on the expertise and exposure I will gather at the Ohio University in the states which is the bastion of democracy
• Have you travelled outside Ghana before
Yes; to Ethiopia
What for?
I was part of a group of journalists selected by Oxfam to observe and cover the AU heads of state and government summit in Addis Ababa. i can hand over my old passport if you want to confirm
Q; No that’s fine
• Have you travelled outside Ghana in the last two weeks
No
• Did you apply to any other school outside outside the US
No

Then she started typing plenty..I was very hopeful at this point that I had been granted the visa I was seriously praying

she said
• Take off your mask
I did
She continued typing
Then she dropped the bombshell
I’m sorry your visa can’t be approved because you do not qualify for this type of visa at this point in time
Then Handed me their letter

I said wow..she said yes!

I walked away

That’s my experience
So my seniors here please let me give my small opinion on this.
As a broadcast journalist check your social media handles. Have there been any unpalatable comments u’ve ever made either directly or indirectly affecting the international body or even your local country?
I just think that might be the problem social media handle ,check all your history
Now the bolded statements: First bolded:I suggest you rephrase ,be very specific E.g. I would continue with my media job upon return to GH with an improved position as.......from my current broadcast journalist as I have ....... with the Manager of Cititv blah blah something like that
(tell them how impactful this degree has on your career ,(starting your statement with “ I would come back” wasn’t cool in my opinion)
Second bolded:that statement wasn’t necessary at all
Lastly your demeanor, VOs have the authority when you are before them.
Best of luck and don’t forget to share your victory transcript
Thank you

You are very good in mathematics,it just that u’ve not had time for it.
Start with Khanacademy.org, Infact go through all the mathematics lessons from grade 1 (don’t underestimate small beginnings) After ,go for SAT materials and practice a lot of questions.

For someone who has B.SC computer science. What course can be done at masters level and which universities are giving scholarships. Please help, it's my first time here.

Can be done? Plenty and you can switch programs too if that suits you. Access what you seek to achieve.
However, per your undergrad you can go for Masters in Computer science, computer engineering, applied mathematics,Information technology,Business Analytics, and Data science (Not exhaustive)

The plane ticket itself can vary from $500 to $1100, depending on how far out in advance the travel date is from the day that you booked. Also, the US airport that you're landing in could make a difference. Two people I know booked their flights for $450 last year December, Lagos to IAD (Washington DC). Apparently, landing in DC seems to be the cheapest I've seen so far.

WES fee will cost more than that as you have to add the cost of sending your transcript to WES and paying for additional copies to be sent to any extra schools that you are applying to (only the first WES copy is free). This WES fee could also be waived if you choose to apply to schools that don't require WES from international applicants.

Very well ,Senior smiley

Romance / Re: Why Do Women Compromise More In Relationships? by Choicexx(m): 9:17am On Mar 06, 2021
Eniolakiite:
And why is the man not also seeing the relationship not working out as a lot to loose? smiley

Intelligent question Eniola , I think it so because of how “easily” a man can propose to “any” woman ,but a woman generally will have a hard time proposing to a man (Even if it sails through, ‘this man’ will most likely view her differently and probably treat her differently (negatively or positively).
I think is no different even in the USA right? (Men do the proposing to women)

Now to your question “why do women compromise more in relationships?”
“compromise more” depends on how you view it. It is also possible the other way round. Why do men compromise more in relationships ?
Relationship is between two different people aiming for a common goal. So I don’t think one does it more —though society makes it seem so —than the other. The other too might compensate for that compromises in another way.
Look at this 1+2 = 3 also -1+4 =3 , 0+3 =3 , 2.5+ 0.5= 3, I can go on and on so we all compromise but it depends on us to define which is more than the other even though I think we all compromise equally.

Sure , you made a video about your apartment and I have watched it and all those on your playlist (very nice videos) but my point is the cost aspect and certain details. (Maybe coz i deal with numbers everyday Lolx)

Eg. How much you pay per month for that apartment (that wasn’t mentioned) ,also how much you spend on groceries (Eg.where you shop and expenses etc.) and utility bills (Eg. Network you even use and it charges etc.) and your experience as a teaching assistant (Eg. How you coped with accent, where the students stubborn ,how you felt first time before this white “kids” etc.)
I think it will be helpful to prospective folks out there

N/B : It just a suggestion ,I know it’s not easy making these videos

Hello fam and congratulations to all those that have gotten their visas. Grad sch has been a whole lot for me but all I see now is the light at the end of the tunnel as I will be graduating in May.

As a prospective international student, you need to know some things and prepare yourself. The job market is extremely competitive over here. This was how I landed an internship in my last semester of Grad school after hundreds of applications since I started my masters program. An internship makes it easy to secure a full time job upon graduation.

Item 1 can be proved by your choice of words during the interview. Although the VOs are not predictable, as sometimes they can use your composure to assess your credibility for the visa. Yet, how you talk about your professional goal, such as what you plan to do after graduation, can be used to prove you have strong home times. I have seen applicants whose entire family are in the U.S and she was still given the visa with her babe, on first appearance. I have to say that what you say and how you say it during the interview matters a lot. You will be assessed by your words first, then your academic profile, such as school, cost of attendance, sponsorship and other things.

I advise you to work carefully on your response to potential interview questions. What is your plan after graduation? How does this course you pick related to this? How will the knowledge help you build this career plan? From experience, 90% of applicants who took their time to detail answers to these questions are found credible and approved, most times first and second appearance (of course, academic profile as mentioned above add weight to chances of approval as well). All the best! Except you need personalized assistance, ask other questions you may have on this thread.

Thanks for the education bro

Kharleed:

Personally, I believe there are only three things a VO needs an F-1 applicant to prove.
1. Strong Home Ties: This is a no-brainer. A Visa Officer needs to be assured that you will return to Nigeria and not be a burden after you graduate. Do you have family here? Do you have a wife/husband in Nigeria? Do you have kids? Are you currently working? Do you own a business? Is it your family/Spouse that is funding you? Do you have scholarship from a local company? Is it a government scholarship? At least, can you clearly articulate your plans after you graduate? Does the VO has a gut-feeling that you are genuine? Do you have history of past travel and returning to Nigeria as at when due? Do you have a research you are working on tied to Nigeria? Just answer any of these questions honestly in your mind. If you are planning to lie to the VO, don't trip: Be rest assured you are coming out of that cubicle with a rejection slip.

2. Proof of Studentship: The VO is trained to pick the wheat from the chaff, to separate genuine students from people who want to japa. (Sorry if you don't know the meaning of Japa cheesy ). Answer honestly in your mind: What do you know about your research/course-of-study? Are you clear on your proposed thesis? What do you know about your school? The city where your school is? Where are you going to stay when you get to the US? Why did you apply to the school? Why did you select the school? Do you have contacts in your department? Is the course related to your undergraduate degree? If not, why are you switching careers? Can you articulate responses to these passionately?

3. Funds: Who is paying for your trip to the US? People with scholarships/fellowships/assistantships/funding from first family (mother, father, siblings, spouse) usually have no problem with this point. But if someone else is funding you, I mean awon Uncle, Aunties, In-laws, companies gang, be ready to explain the motive. Someone cannot just part away with millions of naira just because they love you. Be ready to explain, what is your relationship with this entity? How long have you known each other? What is their motive for investing in you? Are you paying back? Is it a loan? If you got a partial funding, and another entity is covering the rest, you'd still explain. If you got tuition waiver, with no extra funding, you need to explain solidly how you plan to survive in the US.
If you have kids going with you, what is your educational plan for them? What is your medical plan? You must have sorted accommodation for at least a semester. You cannot be saying. You are not sure/act like you have not really prepared. So what's your plan?

In essence, be honest and be prepared. The VO must have rejected you earlier for not meeting one of those requirements. The embassy/consulate HAVE YOUR RECORDS and also access to DO A BACKGROUND CHECK on you. So with these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to , reflect on your last interview and answer honestly to yourself, has something changed? Do you have strong home ties now? Can you convince a dummy you are really a student? Do you genuinely have funding (have plans for funding) now?

Be it as it may, if God wants you to be in US, and you have worked diligently and honestly, and you have nothing to hide, your visa WILL be approved. The God factor is the most important factor. As the maxim goes: work like you have not prayed, PRAY like you have not worked, because in essence, it is not by your hard-work.

Whew! That was an epistle. My bad. I was a beneficiary of this thread (Part 15) and I look for opportunities to pay it forward. It's been a month in the US now and I must say, life is really good here. Back to my studies, Aluta Continua!
