Henry120: The ethiopians have placed orders for

200 upgrded T-72 MBT's from Ukraine. The MBT's would be delivered from ukrainian surplus stocks.

Also in line are 18 ex indian SU-30's from russia. The russians have offered the Ethiopians up-grades of the SU-30's.
don't you smell something here?
i think Ethiopia realizes that when Egypt is able to regain itself from the situation they are in and elect a more decisive leader, they'll want to claim back their portion of the Nile which is their lifeline. Ethiopia is preparing for any possibilities.. abi wetin you think?

andrewza: it was onomedavid who said it.
so why did the olodo mention me if he can read and understand like you just showed.

i had to go the extra miles to give you this information am not sure you are supposed to have. it answers your questions why Jonathan can wear any uniform he wishes.

This is further proof that CraigB is truly an ignorant, dull and intellectually myopic fellow.

Mike..ZA:
Well America is not fighting the Taliban in their back yards like your "mighty nigerian army" is,and their intelligence agencies can track and put to justice any terrorist operating on the USA soil like we saw with the Boston bombers. On the ANC: Well the ANC's Umkhonto we sizwe didn't hit and kill as many people like Boko Haram is now. Last year SA special task force proved how difficult it would be for militants to operate in,SA when they Arrested(reports saying they belonged to M23) people whom were seeking to over throw the DRC government.
grin grin grin grin grin grin Please stop with the hilarious delusion.

you admitted to the ANC thing and yet in defense you still said they didn't kill as much as boko haram. lol

i didn't hear you defend Britain, or what about turkey that fought Kurdish rebels for decades and still had to beg them to lay down their weapons?

Maoist and other insurgents still very active and recently killed many important indian politicians in India?

or insurgents in Colombia, Thailand, Indonesia, Sabah insurgency in Malaysia, Russia that is the second world military power still faces insurgencies til date, etc.. note that these countries have very strong military in world ranking

pleas you guys should not start with this your routine of raising problems you are not free from. post pictures if you don't have verbal gist.

GidiNaijaPikin: Ask your brother Mike..ZA. But then why must you South Africans point out problems of Boko Haram terrorists yet feel offended when we point you to your own seriously embedded problem of brutal crimes in your beautiful South Africa? Like I said ... please don't start something you can't finish.
guy please let's not play that game with them again. i promise you that after 2 days the routine will end. then we can continue talking sense after that. just wait till they start posting music videos then it's over.

what a people. i laid a trap and they fell for it. shows how s.tupid and slow most of these SAs are undecided

All these deaths in one day in central Naai-geria.

And since when do soldiers do police work?
Thiza: @AGAUGUST IF YOU STAY IN A GLASS HOUSE DO NOT THROW STONES...SOUTH AFRICA HAS ITS OWN SHARE OF CHALLENGES AS IS NIGERIA.
WHAT WENT WRONG ON THIS THREAD IS THAT WHEN DEBATES GET GOING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS RESORTED TO NAME CALLING, BELITTLING AND EVEN INSULTS. SOME USED CHALLENGES SUCH AS POVERTY, HIV, CRIMES AS A WEAPON OF DEFENCE TO MAKE A POINT AND RUBBISH THE POSTING AND THESE INDIVIDUALS FELL TO AN IGNORANT POSITION OF BELIEVING THAT THEIR COUNTRY WAS BETTER THAN THE OTHER.
i hope this answers you query @Thiza
your people have started what they do best (clowning) and next time you'll still accuse Nigerians.

my people, i did say in one of my posts that in two days these south africans will start their usual routine of paranoia when they don't have anything reasonable to bring to the table. and so it starts. we are about to see some recycled posts and then music videos. this vindicates my claim. SMH undecided

I might as well ask, where were this weapons last night when BH massacred those innocent weapons?
ignorance is a disease. careful not to purposely inflict yourself with it.

if dealing with insurgency was that easy, perhaps United States would not be begging Taliban to negotiate, seeing that the number of troops and weapons in Afghanistan is enough to level SA in a day or two.

or are you so quick to forget that during the apartheid regime when SA military had it glorious days, they were not able to put down the ANC insurgency?

or how mighty Britain with all it's equipments and very well trained military was unable to put down the IRA insurgency for decades.

boko haram have now targeted soft spots unlike before because they've had their a.sses whooped and have been weakened. thereby resorting to attack soft targets like schools so we'll know they still exist.

try to fend off ignorance from your life o... it's a disease

And paramilitary is not military
and it's one of the Nigerian defence secrets the world isn't supposed to know.
So those soldiers can keep guessing while we keep doing what we do best.

grin grin grin my God, i can't believe agugust of all people fell for that crappy stunt. Lol

the whole thing started from when andrewza posted pics of those fine SA female soldiers. He picked agugust cos he was the only person playful enough to respond to his offpoint posts. Agugust never posted any sensitive information.

If it's truely a DSS or DMI agent, he would have warned you the way Nairaland will warn you before banning you (privately).

@Agugust posted what any good military analyst will post, including tactics and simulations.

Pls DSS and DMI are more professional and intelligent than what that goat just did.

Mike..ZA:
grin Are your soldiers still using that old FN FAL rifle?,I see why Boko Haram is making them ladies. They serve Boko Haram leaders pan cakes every morning. Ni«gay»rian army is ill disciplined.
for your information; Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Wars are fought by men and it's not about the weapon but the man wielding it.

There are a lot of weapons in the Nigerian military inventory but as always we don't stick to one tactic (weapon).

You can look up Nigerian SBS training US marines in the Delta with the FN FAL rifle. Our military tends to have a policy of versatility.

Every country's military no matter the level of training still have indisciplined personnel but it's the ability of the military to fish them out and punish them that matters. Your countryman just posted proof of Nigerian soldiers facing trial for misconduct.

And what's with the gay thing in spelling my country? If you don't have anything to say it's best you sit back and read from others and stop exposing your ignorance. And later they'll say Nigerians always start the insults.

@Thiza
hope you're taking notes

zaandrew: http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=31079:african-union-suspends-egypt&catid=54:Governance&Itemid=118

The African Union suspended Egypt from all its activities after the Egyptian military overthrew the elected president, Mohamed Mursi, a senior AU official said.

"As mandated by the relevant AU instruments, the African Union Peace and Security Council decides to suspend the participation of Egypt in AU activities until the restoration of constitutional order," said Admore Kambudzi, secretary of the council.

Suspension is the AU's usual response to any interruption of constitutional rule by a member state. In March it suspended the Central African Republic after rebels overthrew the government. In recent years, it has meted out similar treatment to Madagascar and Mali, although Mali's suspension has since been lifted, Reuters reports.

Tunisia and Turkey were among Muslim countries to denounce Mursi's overthrow as a coup. The United States and European Union refrained from using that description but called for a swift return to democratic rule.

Following the swearing-in of Adli Mansour on Thursday as interim head of state, the next step in the Egyptian army's "road map" back to democracy is the formation of an interim government in the next few days. One state newspaper said it should be ready on Sunday.
Finally, the toothless bulldog barks. better late than never.
problem with sanctions in africa (both from regional Blocs) is that not all member countries will abide by it. This is part of the many problems AU needs to address, or else they continue to be a crippled union.

at least they are better than Arab Bloc that has kept mute out of fear

Hezron Lorraine: you right bout AU.am yet to hear a concrete comment from Mrs Dlamini Zuma, the AU Sec Gen on the Egypt crisis.at times the AU acts like a slow dog who also respects Egypts alignment to Arab world.
The weakness of the AU is far pronounced on how it is slow to respond and contain crises in the african continent.
Moreover what sanction can be imposed on Egypt at a point like this that would affect them.
I've been searching for updates to see if the Turtle Bay has made comments to condemn what has happened in Egypt.
Obama is a snitch,CNN had it that he phoned Morsi to contain the crises and give the people something to hold unto to stop the protest, also recommending that a roubd-table discussions be held with army chiefs and top govt officials after the foreign minister resigned.
Morsi played strong-head and didn't yield to any of that.US secretly had its way with the Egyptian army and toppled Morsi's govt.
After the announcement were made.CNN carried news that the Department of State was considering a reviewof its policy's on Egypt and the US govt would consider suspending the aids to Egypt.
I now asked who's playing who.
I believe the overthrow was well calculated and the protest of the citizens plus their anger against Morsi islamist fundamentalism helped trigger the quick removal of Morsi from power.
i really suspect the US in this. they had even called for elections before morsi was deposed. (saw it on CNN)

Right from his Ascension Morsi made his first blunder by declaring his full support for the Palestinian course and Gaza militants. part of the reasons why the military removed his powers to declare war at the time.

he started displaying the policies of muslim brotherhood's fundamentalism by gradually shifting away from the US and opening the Rafa crossing that was closed during Mubarak's regime. this led to the influx of more terrorists into the Sinai. (another threat to israel)

even though he caused his own downfall, i still don't support the way he was removed and the Egyptian military's deep involvement in egyptian politics. what if the next president falls short of his promises, what will they do?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by chris365(m): 10:34am On Jul 05, 2013
zaandrew: If the us condemns such a attack it will mean canceling it aid to egypt, that would drive egypt to the east (china and russia) meaning the US will have no way to control egypt.

geopolitics is not black and white only grey.
the US policy regarding issues like this is to suspend all aids till there is transition to civilian rule, not to cancel. and Egypt needs the US far more than US needs them.

well i doubt russia or china will be willing to grant egypt the kind of aid it needs to run it's large and well armed military and it's economy as egypt is the 3rd largest aid recipient of US aid. Even as the military controls about 40% of the economy, it still needs a lot more to counter israeli threat.

china only trades with egypt but they are not allies. so these changes can't happen overnight. US knows this and still refuse to condemn it.

so what would make it seem otherwise?

But my main disappointment is with AU. if they are to promote peace and stability in africa, they should learn to distance themselves from and put serious sanctions on countries with such and related offenses.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by chris365(m): 9:17am On Jul 05, 2013
patriot4: I am not an Egyptian, but I followed what happened.
Morsi is an islamist, and he needed to be removed, democracy or not.
The Egyptian military acted the best way possible. It avoided a bloodbath and obeyed the will of the people.
What kind of propaganda made us all believe that western style democracy was the best thing for us.
The west can have that type of democracy because it doesn't have 1% of our problems.
The west's democracy wasn't built in this fashion overnight, it evolved and it is suitable for their own society.
The way the egyptians acted is examplary and I hope the rest of Africa will follow that example.
The army works for the people.
I don't think there was any US involvement.
if there's no US involvement why is the US reluctant to condemn such an act. as much as i never liked morsi's islamist agenda for Egypt, i still see him as a legitimate government that was elected by majority of Egyptians, constitutions were voted for and approved by the majority, and if he was to be removed it should have been done constitutionally by impeachment.

This is another issue that has exposed the weakness of AU's ability to wade into African political and humanitarian crisis. 2 coups in 2 years. that's a big shame for a large continent with such bright potentials.

Africa has a long way to go when it comes to understanding true meaning of democracy if we are to be taken seriously by the international community. am glad Nigeria has learned a lot from it's past.

zaandrew: No pics but it 1350 solders

1 infantry battalion(includes your single intlgiance, eltronic itengiance, extra extra)
airborne/sf company
engineer company

air support is at least 2 rooivalk and least 4 orxy helicopters. Though with that the SANDF has not said much. There are reports of 2 rooivalk in DRC though and we have had orxy helicopters there for some time.

The total brigade will be 3000. though only SA and tanzania have deployed so far.
i was discussing with some friends and they argued that 3000 will not be enough cos it's not only M23 rebels they'll be fighting, according to the mandate i heard they were given and M23 alone has more than 5000. even almost 20000 UN troops didn't scare those guys.

you guys really need to redeem yourselves after the whole CAR incident. cos we waiting to add more subjects to this thread. wink
