patches689: Other nations are already coming to us for helplord knows i'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you or anyone over a virus. my gosh! how old are you? all those 10 cases are strictly those who came in contact with the foolish liberian who purposely imported it. and those under surveillance as well. that is what responsible governments do. we have testing labs and isolation centers dummy. it's not about who has the biggest, it's about finding the infected and containing them on time. or is it your labs that will go hunting? of the 10 people infected, 5 are recovering, 2 dead (including the liberian) so that means only 3 are still in critical condition. yet you still want to talk about a massive outbreak. do you think SA will be safe if such happens?(knowing fully well how easily it will get to SA from here). i hope you are not as intellectually incapacitated as this in real life. i doubt you have a job dude, or else you won't waste so much time dick contesting over a sensitive issue like this. like i said. i hope someone exports it to your country and hopefully doesn't collapse at the airport. then you'll understand how myopic and foolish your comment was. please continue with your little game. i've made my point. |
patches689: Reuters confirms that there are now 10 Ebola cases in LagosYou are a fool for making such a myopic comment and I pray the virus visits SA the same way it got to Nigeria and strike your family members including the fool's that liked your post. 10 cases of a highly contagious disease in 3 weeks in a country of about 170 million people. Even your government will come begging to know how we contained it. You are a fool Patrick for celebrating such nonsense. Your turn will come. |
Msauza: How heartless are you? Do you indirectly want to tell us about more than 650000 residents who fled their homes in fear of Boko Haram after they overtook Damboa and wanted to take more. Shame!! You are so heartless.stay off drugs. you're pathetic. |
Henry120: There is no on the ground proof to substantiate any of those ridiculous claims. you expect any sane person to accept news from a bigoted saharareporters or premiumtimes as credible?don't mind the fool. he goes through the web searching for Nigeria with an eye patch so he only sees what he wants to see. that's why I don't bother with him anymore. boko haram can never make such mistake of holding territory. the army is only delaying going back there because the village is boko haram infested so going back will only expose those men to more deadlier ambushes. Boko Haram insurgents flee Damboa Members of the civilian JTF in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital have arrested 5 members of the Boko Haram insurgents who came into Damboa to board vehicle at the Kano motor park (Tashan Kano). DailyPost gathered that the suspects were fleeing to Lagos, following stories that the military was ready to reclaim Damboa town. A member of the JTF, Ahamadu Mamman told DailyPost that, some of the members of the Boko Haram sect who were fleeing Damboa town were being arrested by their members at motor parks within Maiduguri. “We arrested 5 yesterday at Tashan Kano. I think 4 were killed and one of them who is alive is giving the soldiers information. We have stationed our boys at Tashan Journey and all the local spots where vehicles pick passengers, even along the roads and we have been succeeding,” Mamman said. According to him, since the Boko Haram attacked Damboa and displace the people, it is obvious that war is imminent and some of them who don’t want to be caught up are seriously leaving the area. dailypost.ng/2014/07/24/boko-haram-flees-damboa-head-lagos/ |

dragon2: @ MikeZAbros, I too love you for this comment. #NoHomo. |
just reactivated my subscription and in a rush to open the first page I view before even saying good morining to God, I realized it will be no more. I am deeply sad, frustrated, angry and disappointed at the shortsighted leadership we are cursed with in this country. both military and political. with SR, BBC Hausa and many other journalists who serve no other interest but their pay masters go on to spread propaganda that can only spread fear and encouragement for boko haram, our leadership decides to clamp down on people like @sirius who has managed to revive the faith we lost in our military a long time ago. diaris God o, diaris God ooo, diaris God oooooooo. #sobs. @sirius, you have done well, keep the flag flying and don't delete your account. one day this conflict will be over and your thousands of photos will tell the tales of the bravery of our gallant men in uniform. you'll see |
Henry120: Please I beg you transfer it.you no dance am reach me. thanks to @sirius, we are mentally fighting alongside our heroes. this government will never understand the power of information in times of conflict. may God keep you alive @siriusblack and other brave warriors who risk their lives so I can sleep in peace. those southies for the other thread go vex o . I know sey na @august to first find trouble . |
dragon2: South Africa’s failure to successfully engage some of Africa’s most troublesome conflict zones has undermined the country’s credibility and cast doubt about whether South Africa should be perceived as the continent’s regional military and political leader. Ineffectual leadership is at the heart of the matter. President Zuma has made some dubious decisions regarding South Africa’s regional foreign policy, and his inability to meaningfully address the plethora of domestic problems facing the country raises question about its suitability as Africa’s de facto leader.this is one fact these dull south Africans (especially @patches) have refused to swallow. if you like buy nuclear weapons, you remain the last option when it comes to continental authourity and military power. you are yet to pay the price, so cannot be trusted to lead militarily. accept your new boss and pay homage . |
dragon2: Seleka? Lol. Seleka engaged you once, killed your men and you retreated home while they paraded their booty.Secondly,we don't keep scores on the boko boys we kill them in dozens per raid and they run off with as many of their dead as possible, just as the Cameroonians have confirmed.Bh know they can't attack any major FG fortification and have switched to low threat targets.Seleka knew they could get SALOANDF to abandon their base.and the SALOANDF didn't disappoint. they chartered flights back home to sleep with their wives after losing few men. bloody cowards |
patches689: Yes, because we are so heavily involved in AU deployments.bla bla bla bla bla...... I couldn't even finish reading the post cos all I see is whining. who isn't involved in AU deployments. even sierra Leon is in Somalia. you further revealed your foolishness by calling such a political appointment. did you read the profile of the person appointed and his responsibilities? and to add to your foolishness, you dare to compare a rotating political seat to a military position. you are frilly a waste of time. and patches..... this is 2014. an era of counter insurgency and armed rebellions which currently plagues the continent, not conventional wars. wake up man. you can't be that slow. your loan defence force and country has not paid the ultimate price to be respected militarily and your defence minister who also participated in picking a Nigerian General understands it far better than you. sorry if it hurts you but that's the reality, not all this ramblings of personal opinions on nairaland. I won't waste time responding to you. your level of reasoning is understood. |
for the ignorant south African fools who foolishly deceive themselves that more than half of Nigerian population is poor or live on less than one dollar a day. here's another slap to your dirty ignorant facese . Only a Third of Nigerians are Poor, Says World Bank Going by the statistics released to journalists yesterday in Abuja by the World Bank, only 55.9 million Nigerians (about 33.1 per cent of the country's population put at 169 million) are living below the acceptable poverty level, a significant improvement from the figure released last February by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which put the poverty level at 112.519 million (62.6 per cent). The World Bank also predicted a 7.4 per cent growth rate in the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The World Bank attributed the improvement in the poverty statistics to the positive economic trend as well as significant progress made towards poverty eradication in the country by the government. The poverty figure by the World Bank was drawn from its 2012/2013 poverty estimates while the one by the NBS was from the 2009/2010 estimates. h www.thisdaylive.com/articles/only-a-third-of-nigerians-are-poor-says-world-bank/184323/ see why I don't bother with you south african fools here. bunch of ignorant bastarrrds |
Thiza: A true professional army whith nearly 30 Years of combat experianceode. combat experience in arranged photo op. @mikeza just proved that the ones with the combat experience are rolling on wheelchairs. sandf is a photo military. that's why you will never be chosen to lead in any AU or UN combat mission. your photo army will soon be saying "yes sir" to a real military with proven modern combat experience in COIN and successful peace enforcement operations. professionals still look up to the big brother in policing Africa today. not photogenic military with shiny toys and inexperienced AIDS ridden cowards. eat your heart out . Nigerian general appointed as AU Standby Force Chief of Staff Brig.-Gen. Tijjani Kangbap Golau has assumed duty as the new Chief of Staff of the African Standby Force in the Peace Support Operations Division of the AU Commission. The News Agency of Nigeria in Addis Ababa reports that prior to this appointment Golau was Director, Nigerian Army Centre for Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency. Golau was deployed by Defence Headquarters to represent Nigeria in continental peace support operations at the AU Commission, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He replaced late Gen. I. I. Hassan who died in 2007, while serving in the same capacity at the PSOD of the AU commission. NAN reports that the officer is expected to enhance the full operationalisation of the African Standby Force base on recommendations of the report of Prof. Ibrahim Gambari-led technical committee. The Gambari committee had reviewed the progress and the challenges in the effort for the operationalisation of the force aimed to address the current regional and continental security challenges. The office of the Chief of Staff is expected to ensure the operationalisation of the African Standby Force with full capability by the target of Dec. 31, 2015. The African Standby Force was established following adoption of recommendations of the meeting of Ministers of Defence held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on January 20, 2004. This was in accordance with the AU Policy Framework for peace and stability of the continent. una think sey na only to dey snap photo. action speaks louder my friend . |
cirmuell: It baffles me how people couldn't just ignore this Quid of a guy honestly.dem get enough data to waste . |
Henry120: Anybody following the current conflict in GAZA? It isn't a pleasant sight at all. I'm following the conflict on Aljazeera. True, Aljazeera is pro-Arab ( anyway all news stations report the news with different political interests ), but the sights are quite disturbing.and it's very interesting to see how much casualties IDF has suffered ( more than 25 killed with one captured and more than 100 injured) in just two days. despite being one of the best trained and most experienced army in FIBUA tactics and anti terror op. this is just at the boarder area o. how worst will it get when they move closer into Gaza city. Israel had an advantage before the ground invasion (thanks to the iron dome), now they'll just have to push for a ceasefire in other to avoid the embarrassment they faced from Hezbollah. fact is Israel is repeating the same mistake they made with Hezbollah by underestimating Hamas. Hamas has gotten better in training and weaponry so this is going to hit IDF as well. Israel is just targeting civilians to it's casualties to rake up it's own scores. and it's disgusting. today they bombed a hospital today. insane Hamas controls this conflict and that's why the world is running around trying to beg them for a ceasefire instead of Israel. they simply asked Israel to jump and Netanyahu asked "how high". Israel should have stuck to Arial bombardment and protect their boarder from infiltration. on who's to blame for the conflict, my brother, you need to go and research thei history of how the state of Israel was formed before picking sides. so to me, a lasting peace will only be achieved if Israel is ready for it. hamas will never stop threatening israel even if they nuked. I just laugh at those who think guerilla warfare is a piece of cake. it is by far the most difficult in modern history and it would be wise if African militaries gear up for it so as not to be caught unawares. |
Msauza: My dad grew up in South Africa. His family relocated in SA when he was just 10 years of age during the heydays of apartheid. They found refuge in SA from Biafra war. Both his parents were buried in SA and some of his siblings went to US and others remained in SA.excuse me but do I look like doctor Phil to you. if you are mentally depressed, visit a mental hospital fool. you are nohhing but an angry reject and it smells badly on you. don't cry us a river, cry us a lagoon. you are a reject who's lost his identity and struggles with inferiority complex. you have declared your father and his ancestors as failures, fools and imbeciles. live with the reality of your foolishness. |
patches689: I dont care what you think, who cares if you care? you are a deceitful debater afterall. and a bad shameless liar. answer simple questions. but for my current state of idleness, It'll be my pleasure to mock you . "The Nigerian embassy in Sudan was the key player in the capture of the mastermind of the April 14 Nyanya bomb blast that killed 75 people and not the INTERPOL, LEADERSHIP WEEKEND can authoritatively report." " The efforts of INTERPOL, the Nigeria Police and Department of State Services have led to his arrest." " But if I may let you know, Ogwuche had been arrested by the Nigerian embassy officials in Khartoum before he was even declared wanted here in Nigeria. He was picked on his way to the Egyptian embassy, possibly to get a visa and escape to that country, but he was clever by half.” leadership.ng/news/371222/dramatic-story-behind-capture-nyanya-bombing-mastermind but please, continue with your usual. I already understand your level of comprehension. |
patches689: That is a flat out liestill foolishly arguing blindly I see. who discovered him as the mastermind? who ran investigation and discovered he was in Sudan before the Sudanese were alerted to arrest him? the Sudanese intelligence? and are you blind or just intellectually incapacitated to understand why he was initially released in your second link? you are indeed a waste of time. |
Msauza: Naai-gerians are written failure all over their bodies. A nation half full of embeciles.so in other words your father is a failure and an imbec1le. which makes you too. no wonder. i do yourself a favor and kill yourself. cos what I see here is depressed soul caused by rejections from Nigerian beauties . |
Msauza: Hello!!! Mr fake accountant living in imaginery US, you are the reason why I see Nigerians as nothing but failures, including your president Jonathan.o boy do quick kill yourself or drain your blood out for filtering. instead of whining like a bruised bingo. |
and who is paying for the flight ticket? who is the go-between her and the government? so this small pikin wey never get audience with her own government wey schoolgirls are not also protected is the new tool these propagandists want to use to waste a Nigerian presidents time. and the clueless fisherman sef go give am special seat and answer "yes ma, we will do as you say" while arresting and harassing Nigerians that are protesting for the same cause. all to appease foreigners. this Jonathan's government is a circus. heard the will declare malala day. imagine celebrating a girl who managed to escape death in a far away country while ignoring the ones that are been killed and kidnapped at home. clueless indeed. |
SANDF faces funding crisis The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) is facing a "catastrophic" multi-billion-Rand financial crisis that could force mass retrenchments and the indefinite postponement of the acquisition of essential equipment. Johannesburg daily The Times reported defence secretary Sam Gulube as saying a R1.1 billion budget shortfall could compel the SANDF into large-scale retrenchments and compulsory early retirement in order to survive and pay salaries. The budget shortfall also meant the SANDF would have to cut operations and acquisitions. Gulube was speaking after briefing Parliament's defence portfolio committee. The defence force's descent into crisis was slammed by the SA National Defence Union (Sandu) and a defence analyst said the proposed cost-saving measures would degrade the SANDF - already "catatonic" - even more. Gulube said the Department of Defence was unable to fill 4 000 posts because of insufficient funding. Various options were being considered, he said, including cutting employees and extending working hours between now and March 2015. "We hope that for the next financial year we will be covered. "For the remuneration of employees, we are about R1.1 billion short. By the end of this year, I will have to balance these books. "When posts are vacant we don't fill them. We encourage people to take voluntary exit mechanisms. We are looking at the attrition rate. The number of people who retire or die in service will be about 2 000 annually." The shortfall means soldiers are being deployed for longer on foreign missions to cut down on stand-by shifts at home bases. David Maynier, Democratic Alliance MP and defence portfolio committee member, said the Department of Defence was spending more than half of its budget of about R43 billion on personnel-related costs. "The army alone has a R13.8 billion budget, of which R9.5 billion went to pay soldiers and staff. Less than one percent went to payment for capital assets such as vehicles." Maynier said ideally about 40% of a budget should be spent on pay and benefits and the rest split equally between operations and capital acquisitions. "The defence force needs to downsize to reduce expenditure on personnel so that it can properly fund operations and acquisitions." Defence analyst Helmoed Heitman said the cost-cutting proposals would be "catastrophic" for a defence force already in a "catatonic state". "If they are implemented, the SANDF will suffer severe capability losses. "Critical acquisitions, such as those of heavy-lift aircraft and maritime patrol aircraft - the latter dating back to World War II - are already years behind deadline." Heitman said every arm of the defence force was in crisis. "There are not enough planes, pilots, vessels, sailors, soldiers and vehicles. "Equipment is ageing ... troops are overstretched ... it is a complete catastrophe." He said retrenchments might sound like a good idea but "there is hardly anyone left to retrench". "To operate optimally, doing its currently required work, including peacekeeping deployments and border protection, we need an additional 20 000 troops. He said the air force's transport capabilities were "a disaster". "Just look at what happened in the Central African Republic, where we had to rely on a chartered aircraft to get equipment to trapped troops - which was delivered too late. "To some, it's a joke. To those operating some of this equipment, it's a life-threatening situation.'' Pikkie Greeff, Sandu general secretary, said: "The proposals make the 2014 Defence Review appear as a worthless a piece of paper. "It's the same as the health minister saying there's no money, so let's close hospitals." defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=35436:sandf-faces-funding-crisis&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242 at peacetime for that matter. pathetic i guess project biro will only appear in biro and dem badgers will remain in the bush . |
SiriusBlack: By posting photos of soldiers? Stop talking like an illiterate.black. one thing you should understand is every thread must have trolls including yours. dont feed him. boko haram has got some people paranoid already ![]() |
welcome back black. you don't know how much you were missed. |
rka1: Have I told you it is a problem? I think the UN should incur the costs if it is their operation because Nigeria has learnt lessons from the past and understand no one will reimburse you if you bear the costs upfront. But some situations require that we do. Take for instance in Liberia and SL, what would have happened if we hadn't gone in while waiting for UN? Look at how we waited for Mali. Imagine if France didn't intervene independently when they did. When it concerns your national interest and security, you don't have to wait for UN pocket money before taking actions. SA touts itself as a leader on the continent and should therefor understand the cost. I don't think Nigeria made any mistake in funding those missions. It is such leadership qualities that has continued to place us higher than SA on the continent. No matter how developed there are than us. Look at the status Kenya achieved after they intervened in Somalia before joining the AMISOM. Bros, he dey important. Just look at how SA sissied out of CAR and chose to play back seat in DRC. Who would respect such military? |
Fighter Pilot: Don't bring blogs which have been written from people's personal point of view. All pilots who are retiring from full-time military service because of salary related problems are free to pursue other opportunities at their own accord. Many of them still regard military with the highest esteem, thus have joined our reserve forces which is still part of SANDF.Oh, you couldn't site any better example but a UN blunder? What about Nigerian missions in Liberia, SL, Ivory coast, Mali, Bissau,? Did the UN pay before we embarked on those missions? Mind you. That story was no one's personal opinion but the general problem the current SANDF faces. You have lost professionals faster than in any war zone. Your promotions are marred by racial discrimination, and your fat useless generals eat up more than half of your budget. What's the pride in that? Huh? |
Fighter Pilot: Thanks, you have now answered it. If you are a captain and you are promoted to the rank of Major, L.t colonel or even Colonel, there is money involved which you will have to be paid for assuming a new higher rank. Budget=money. SANDF pay very good salaries to avoid exodus that you are experiencing in Nigeria.guy. either you are the worst mistake of SANDF, or they don't produce intelligent personnel anymore. shame "SA pays fat salaries to avoid mass exodus". that is why you don't have money left out of billions of dollars in defence to maintain your overpriced jets. you even lose pilots faster than any country in Africa. you can't sustain a mission unless payed for by UN, your military is a mess even after getting the biggest defence budget in Africa. and you think that's something to brag about? your money goes to maintain old expired fat bellied generals that you refuse to retire. and you wish Nigeria will follow suit. nonsense. Nigerian military promotions is based on merit and retirements don't translate to mass exodus as some of the retired generals work as private contractors to the military. we may not have very big budget, but I will prefer the way Nigerian military spends to the way SANDF does in a million times. by the way. about mass exodus, I believe you know SANDF is the leader in that category in African militaries. With dwindling budgets, an exodus of highly-skilled technical staff and reduced spending on training and equipment, the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) can barely meet its constitutional obligations, according to military experts http://tia-mysoa..com/2012/09/sandf-on-verge-of-collapse-so-whats-new.html?m=1 isn't that a big shame for a military that gets so much money just to pay fat belly generals? you no get sense |
Fighter Pilot: Bahahahahaha!!! That will never happen.and how has this changed the fact that it's true you don't have a competent air force to challenge even tanzania. not to talk of Nigeria ![]() |
agaugust: ![]() sebi dem wan pack european shine shine weapons for show off. the generals involved in the arms scandals shot have been shot. or maybe SANDF generally lacks intelligent chiefs ![]() |
Fighter Pilot: One thing with Nigerians is that they do not read to comprehend. This is what I have collected from the website which I provided.so in other words, your minister of defence and air force are playing ball with your heads abi? one of them is lying and i would rather believe your minister who oversees your defence department. typical south african confectionists ![]() |

. I know sey na @august to first find trouble
.
