WebmastersRe: Pspad Vs Notepad++ by chrishenzo: 1:36pm On Jun 17, 2012
I only tried Notepad++ before I lay my hands on ADOBE CS5 package. I tried Dreamweaver for about 2 days but I it couldn't allow me to explore more. Somehow I lay my hands on PHPDESIGNER.

From the moment I started using PhpDesigner, I haven't open my Dreamweaver again nor use any other editor. Guys if you are not using PhpDesigner, you must be missing something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BusinessRe: Alertpay: Is It As Reliable, Recognised And Secure As Paypal? by chrishenzo: 2:01pm On Jun 16, 2012
Though I haven't use them but I have had some good things about them. Paypal is still better.

If only our banks and our IT companies can follow the way of Chinese, Paypal should be the one competing with them.
TravelRe: What Motivates Diasporans To Relocate Back To Nigeria? by chrishenzo: 11:08am On Jun 16, 2012
[b]Some response here shows how low minded some people here are or how they think that everyone engage in unlawful things in Nigeria.

Saying that they are deported is out of the poster's question because they didn't make the decision by themselves. They were forced to leave. So getting back to the poster's question, some made the decision because of family matters. Some made it because of business matters while some made it because they still have some affection for the country and still want to add something positive to the country. Some might took the decision because they feel that they are more hated or being discriminated in a country they are living. I am not denying that there are some people that can home because they believe that they can easily rise to power or that they families have more power than senses.

Anyway, everyone knows the saying "There is no place like home". It doesn't mean that there is no problem at home or whatever, it means a place where you feel welcome, feel you are part of them( your community),understand them more, share their feelings, no that you all are facing the same problem or are enjoying the same happiness, etc. In a foreign country, when they riot, celebrate a happy thing, etc the truth is that you won't feel it the way you will feel it if it happened in your own country. Sometimes you see yourself as second-class citizen even if you have the whole money.

Someone that studied outside the country, or travels a lot, etc sees more opportunity in making money in Nigeria than a person in Nigeria that has been living in Nigeria since his/her life. It doesn't mean that later person doesn't think but it simply means that the initial person has a broader view of where/what to do in Nigeria.

For people that believe Nigeria is all about National Cake, my brothers/sisters please do understand that there more important things in life than National Cake. Nigeria or Life is not all about National Cake.

WebmastersRe: Autoresponder Help!!! by chrishenzo: 1:33pm On Jun 15, 2012
I don't think you can capture their email automatically. You can can do that manually by checking each of their profile. But that can be done if they are not hiding their email. As for their phone number, you have to ask them for it. It is not included on nairaland

WebmastersRe: Do You Think Facebook Will Stay Till 2020 by chrishenzo: 9:02am On Jun 15, 2012
I don't see facebook disappearing rather I think it will increase in the number of users. Remember that countries like China, Vietnam, and some of the middle east/Arab countries banned facebook in their country. Since a lot of citizens are fighting hard for democracy, imagine a country with more than 1billion people(China) open up, there will catastrophe in facebook's server.

What I believe is that it won't be that juicy as it is today. There will be competition.

Who knows someone might create a time travel website. All you need to do is pack yourself well and hit ENTER, BaBOOOM!!! you will see yourself in Morroco, New York, Bangkok, etc depending on your choice Or you can hit Cltr + PLUS, to travel to the future, Cltr + Minu, to travel to the past, Hit ESC to comeback to the present
WebmastersRe: Doing E-Commerce from Nigeria (the 419 Stigma) by chrishenzo:
That is why we always recommend people(both buyers and sellers) to use Chrisvicmall Platform (www.chrisvicmall.com) to do all their e-commerce transactions. You don't even need a credit card to purchase any item around the world.

It makes you feel sad when you come across such website that restrict Nigerians from buying from their website but I think one of the main reason they are doing that is that Nigeria doesn't have a lot of internet online buyers.

The population of online scammers in China makes those of Nigeria look like childish play yet many websites still welcome people from China to buy from their website since they still make much profit and there are many online buyers.

Sites like Paypal, Ebay, Amazon, etc will open up when there is a great competition from a website that allows Nigeria. First that will monitor the site closely, if the site starts getting famous, they will start accepting Nigeria in order to get their open piece of cake.
WebmastersRe: Nairaland Frontpage Suggestion by chrishenzo(op):
afam4eva: I share your suggestion but you have to understand that Nairaland is not a democracy. It's a totalitarian run website that shoots anybody that tries to democratize it. Even when elections are allowed, it is rigged. Nairaland is Nigeria and Nigeria is Nairaland.
Doesn't it mean that Seun and His Workers do not not practice what they preach? I thought the average Nigeria believes in democracy.

nairawall: If you use a computer algorithm or logic to post topics to the Nairaland home page will cause a lot of not too good topics making it to the index page. People will be able to doctor the pattern and get their threads to be featured.

These are the logic used in ranking topics:

1.) Most viewed
2.) Most commented
3.) Most liked

All these metrics can easily be forced. I can refreshed my topic several times to have a large view count, or create several accounts to make a lot of comments or likes.

What NL needs is a way to marry both (Human and Algorithm).
Refreshing you page cannot increase the view count because your view will be monitored by your username, ip,browser used, time of visit, and most important your computer SERIAL NUMBER.

Regarding the most commented, it can easily be prevented. All it takes is to avoid counting you as the commenter if you are the started of the post. And also the commented won't be limited to some number of comments

As the most liked, simply count the number of users per like. The user cannot be allowed to double like the same thread

will.i.am:
That concept won't work. The charm of Nairaland is not knowing what u'll see on the frontpage, b*tch*ng about useless articles being put on the frontpage, swearing for m_ds ( u have to blame somebody ) and more. The Digg concept worked way back then, but seriously, sites that used digg then don't anymore.
Vive le Nairaland!
Don't tell me that you enjoy the swearing. I know it get some people's day rolling but swearing and cursing can leave some people unhappy.

WebmastersNairaland Frontpage Suggestion by chrishenzo(op): 10:57am On Jun 14, 2012
Suggestion to Seun and His Mentors

I think it would be nice if you give your users the opportunity to decide threads that should appear on the front page just like "Delicious, Twitter,Stumble, etc" does.A thread with great amount of "Likes" should appear on the front page. You can set it to update every 3 days, or one week depending on your choice.

You can also set it that each of the category have equal opportunity. For example since most of the users here visit politics, followed by romance, business, web, etc, you can give your popular category like politics 3 front page slot, or divide the slots for each category.

Sometimes some threads that make it to the front page don't always make meaning and users do complain about it

PhonesHow Secure Is Android Phones? by chrishenzo(op): 12:11pm On Jun 12, 2012
How secure is Android Phones Application? I noticed that almost all Android Phone Applications connect to the internet automatically. Beside that, most of them run in the background without the user knowing about it. They have access to your phone contacts, messages, browsing history, call history, location and most other things you cannot even imagine.

For someone that like privacy, is there any application that can prevent them from starting and also connecting to the internet automatically?
BusinessRe: Selling Products Online From Nigeria by chrishenzo: 1:01am On Jun 06, 2012
OLAKAD: @chris nice post you have here, u talk from experience. speaking of payments, delivery and collection; how would 1 buy without a credit card, also how economical and efficient are indigenous transport services like ABC, etc compared to the likes of DHL, UPS, etc. would 1 make good profit selling products in Nigeria considering all challenges? would u encourage Nigerian to do business on-line?
You can buy things from anywhere around the world without the use of credit card. Please note that you can only do this on our platform. For example, suppose you want to purchase an Ipad from any our website, simply pay the amount into our bank account. Your Chrisvicmall account will be recharge and after that, you can then proceed with your shopping.

In some cases, the product you are looking for might not be on our website. All you need to do is to contact seller of the product and ask the seller to upload the product on our website. We might also help you to make the purchase.

Regarding the efficient of the indigenous transport service, I will say that they are efficient. Most of the time the buyer will receive the product the same day or the next day. And the price of the shipping depends on the size of the product.

At first there won't be much gain if you start online business. Sometimes you might wonder if you are wasting your time with the project. So if you planning to start online business, I also recommend that you have a physical shop

RomanceWhy Is There No Lady In Comedy Field? by chrishenzo(op): 10:55am On Jun 04, 2012
First I would like to apologize to anyone if this is not in appropriate section. Anyway my question is-- Why are there no ladies in comedy career. I have been monitoring comedians around the world and I noticed that all are men. Is it a male thing or what?
