Useless country. How can one man control all this industries?  Simply because there are no antitrust laws. Dangote's connections with corrupt government officials helped him monopolize the market for rice and sugar, effectively eliminating the competition. Now you want me to credit that Dangote for what?
God bless you my brother. Though I acknowledge the guy is rich but if judging things from the right angle, the guy shouldn't be on the list. 90% of Nigerians can be on the lists if they are given the same chance this guy have. He got his money through political means. How can only one man be autorized to import foreign rice during Abacha regime. How can 99% of cement factories closed down and his own was left alone? Or should we talk of floor. Like I said, give everyone equal chance and believe it or not, dangote won't smell Forbe's list. He may not be any governor or president but he is contributing to unemployment in Nigeria.

use numerical HTML encoding of the Unicode characters

find a table of the translation here http://www.utf8-chartable.de/unicode-utf8-table.pl?start=7808&number=1024&utf8=0x&unicodeinhtml=hex

Thanks for your concern. I have tried that many times but it doesn't help. After using the HTML encoding, it works perfectly, but the moment I upgrade the site or make some certain changes, everything will go back to “?".

The only option that can make it work even after upgrading the site is by adding "" sign e.g "ṅ" But the issue here is that those signs will appear on the front page which make it looks like this "Ọ" in the frontpage. What else can I do please.

IMHO, if you want it to disappear, your second paragraph makes no sense.  Also, do you want the selection unavailable to the the 2nd and subsequent visitors to the site or to only one person (in other words, it is user specific)?

You probably want to have a database set up with at least 2 columns - selection and date selected.  Then when the choice is made and "submit" is clicked, you store the selection with the date selected.   Then each time the person logs in, you query the database for the selection and calculate the number of days.  If greater than 7, you display.  It probably wouldn't hurt displaying some kind of text on the page informing them that any selection made won't be available for 7 days (why you want to do this still beats me though).

Good luck and happy coding!
Thank you for your contribution. You can call it user specific i.e no other user can select the same option until the days expire that is the seven days.

It is like choosing a username in any website whereby the username name cannot be assign to two people at the same time. I'm thinking of distroying the database every seven days. I still need a way to make the option invisible or have a sign name "already selected"
WebmastersHow can I do this in php? by chrishenzo(op): 7:56am On Dec 12, 2010
I have six options(boy, girl, guy, lady, man, woman) in a form. I want when an option e.g "guy" is selected and submited, it won't be available again. It can only become available after seven days.

Secondly when an option is submitted, it will have icon or mark that indicates that it has already been selected or it will become invisible to guests or users. But after seven days, it will become visible or the icon/mark will disappear from it.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Among Highest Bribe Payers In The World by chrishenzo: 1:17pm On Dec 10, 2010
I don't worry about bribing,
I worry about the inferiority complex of most Nigerians
I worry about the lack of patriot of most Nigerians
I worry about how most Nigerians swallow anything that media said but fail to understand that the greatest weapon on earth is not nuclear bomb but THE MEDIA.
I worry about how most Nigerians are still living in modern day slavery
I worry about how most Nigerians like to digest negative news without knowing that it affects them
I worry about how most Nigerians shouts "Only in Nigeria" but failed to notice that the same crime happens everywhere.
I worry about how most Nigerians are internet warriors but physically they don't have balls.

I was an advocate of "One Nigeria" but some weeks back I have to ask myself if  there is anything like "One Nigeria". I was chatting with one Nigeria person some weeks ago, and we were discussing about Nigeria situation and how the country can change. But behold, the person open up his mouth and starts vomiting rubbish. He said "Nigeria is a hopeless country, Nigeria is a silly country, I hate Nigeria. I don't want to have anything to do with the country again. They are silly, they are criminals, frauds, and nothing good will come from the country. I won't go back until they fixed the country, etc. His voice was so loud and to make things worst, there were about 10-15 people from different countries around us. I was so embarrassed and ashamed of myself. I just told him " I'm disappointed in you" and the next thing he said was "Who cares. silly hopeless country!"

All the other foreigners was surprised and one of them just told him that he is the most silly person he has ever come across in his entire 47years old. He asked the Nigerian guy, whether the country he is currently living was fixed by God? One of them asked me whether there are other brain dead people like this in Nigeria. My brothers I was confused and transfixed.

Finally don't get me wrong, bribing is ripping dip into the heart of Nigeria but instead of repeating the same issues that even a child knows about, why not find a solution to it. You can start by avoiding bribing from your own side. Fix yourself and you fix Nigeria.

what are your input fields? and how is the date appearing currently ?
Thank you for your concern. Actually, I created three columns for age i.e dayofbirth, monthofbirth and yearofbirth. On the registration form, when the user enter his/her birthdate, after submitting the form, the dayofbirth will appear on the the dayofbirth column on the mysql table, the same with monthofbirth, and yearofbirth.

I have tried different patterns but I haven't find the best solution to make everything appear in one column that is under birth date column, I will have something like 20-11-1959.

Can you help me with any suggestion please?
WebmastersHow To Create Birthday Table/form In Php And Mysql? by chrishenzo(op): 6:59am On Dec 08, 2010
Hello php and mysql professionals,

I'm building a website that has a user registration form. I have designed the complete form and created mysql table for it. Every thing is working perfectly. But I have some issues.

The user registration form needs users to enter their date of birth. I created the column for it in the datebase but it doesn't work. So I separated it like this ageday agemonth ageyear, and it is working perfectly but I don't like the looks. I want everything to be in one column. For example, the name of the column would be birthday, then when the user submit the registration form, it will appear like 21-05-1950 under the birthday column. How can I do that.

Your help is needed. Thank you.
PoliticsThe Best Way To Fix Nigeria by chrishenzo(op): 6:32am On Oct 14, 2010
From the moment Nigeria has gained its independent to this very minute, there has always been divisions especially in ethnicity.  This has caused a great hindrance to the development of Nigeria but in economy, education, technology, etc.

I have always been an advocate of "ONE NIGERIA" but it seems that that word is just a complete delusion. If an Hausa man can campaign for election in Eastern or Southern part of Nigeria without anyone saying he is an Hausa then I will believe "ONE NIGERIA". The same happens when a Yoruba, Igbo, or any other ethnics groups in Nigeria go to the North for election.

My questions is; what is the best way to fix Nigeria. The three answers that comes to my mind are
1.) Disintegrate the country
2.) Like Great Britain( which has different countries), I think Nigeria should divided itself and allow every ethnics to take full responsibilities of their body without waiting for a federal fund or decision to move its economy.
3.) Passing a law that says that anyone above 50years should never campaign for any political poster in Nigeria because it seems that most politicians are suffering from colonial mentality. They were born before Nigeria gain its independent and I believe that the white man's colonial era still affects them psychologically.

If Singapore that has a population not great than Lagos alone can be a country, why can't Nigeria divide since every ethnics of Nigeria is shouting for division. Even Tokelau with a population of 1200people is still regarded as a country.
PoliticsWhat Is The Best Solution To Bring Him On Spotlight? by chrishenzo(op): 3:38am On Oct 14, 2010
I lend a friend of mine about 400,000 thousand naira during his time of hardship. When I request for the money, he wasn't in town and he promise to pay back as soon as he comes back. After a week I called him and his phone wasn't reachable. I went to his house and the door were locked.

One day I met him online and request for his whereabout and he told me that he has left the country. It pains me so much because he was even laughing, telling me that he came back to the city and switched off his phone.

When I became angry with him, he called me a fool for lending him the money and told me never to bother him again, that he will pay when he has the money.

I felt so hurt because of this betrayal. It is more than a year now and the last time I saw him online, he didn't even bother to say hello, let alone mention the money.

Now I'm planning of exposing his pictures(which I have). I want to post it to all forums for people to be careful. I have his real name, the university he is attending, phone number, passport number, etc. I want to go far as creating a website and adding all his information for people to see and also encourage people to expose other fraudsters.

Is there a better solution? I need some advice

hi chrishenzo,

The Chinese that you were initially referring to is Chinese race as a whole or China chinese ?  Either way, it doesn't make any difference.  Is correct that in Chinese household, the women are the ones who do majority of the housework and cooking.  In recent years, you may find  couples say 40ish and below ( yappies ) have husbands who enjoy cooking at times,  especially when it comes to inviting friends over.  Is more of a hobby then sharing of household chores and almost never on a regular basis.  As people get more affluent, they go restaurants more ,  try out different cuisines, travel to different parts of the world, some even go on gourmet tours to specific countries to experience authentic cuisine from different region ( eg France / italy) , availability of cookbooks and recipes over the internet not to mention cooking shows by celebrity chefs on tv, going to gormet supermarkets for exotic ingredients etc and all these interest which subsequently leads to the interest in cooking is just Lifestyle !

Younger working couples do share in household chores if they can't affort helpers. But when comes to cooking, is only the minorityof men and even then I still believe is a interest thingy.
Stop kidding me with those words. Two questions

Why do most Chinese girls always dream to have a Shanghai as a boyfriend?
Why do most Chinese girls prefer a weak man to a strong man that can stand on his decisions?

Don't give me a fake answer. Use what happen in real chinese life to answer my question

Now I understand. The situation here is exactly the same situation that happen all the time in nairaland.com. People living outside the country talk about the Nigeria situation as if they are living in the country.

Next time you eat the dumplings with your Chinese friends. Don't forget to ask them which part of China they come from. I don't mean North South East West. I mean the name of the city/town.

Your problem is very similar to the man that mosquito is biting his scrotal sac. If he leave the mosquito, the dame thing suck his scrotal sac dry. If he hit the mosquito, he will hurt his scrotal sac. I don't know the advice to give you. But if you are my wife, I don't care about the house work or the food. The most important thing that matters to me is your health and the mother's love for my children.

I would rather prefer an average income to a slavery job especially when it has to do with 5a.m to 12a.m( that is 14hours).

What time do you have to enjoy all the money you have.?

No, I was not joking. I have Chinese friends and have had dinner at their houses and not once did I see the men lift a finger to help. The example that you gave are restaurant setting. That is totally different. Majority of the professional chefs in the world are men anyway but I doesn't mean their wives [if they have any] are at home cleaning. My ex boyfriends' father was a chef in an Italian restaurant and when he would come home it would be his wife doing all the cooking.
Two questions,

Do your Chinese friends live in China?
Do you live in China and how long how you been living there?

That's not true. Traditional Chinese men don't like cooking. They have the same views as Nigerians when it comes to gender roles. Or at least the older generation does. Younger Chinese people don't seem to care as much.

And why is it ok for a man to work longer hours and not a woman?

Tell me you are not joking when you said that traditional chinese don't like cooking. If chinese has 10 restaurants, 9 of them employ men to cook there. The ladies take care of serving the foods to customers. The population of chinese guys that knows how to cook is 5 times the population of the girls that can cook.

CareerJob Fraud by chrishenzo(op): 1:01am On Sep 07, 2010
A friend of my was looking for a job. Now he found an organization that offer him job. They haven't given him any job but has requested his account number. When he ask why, their reason was that one of their clients wants to pay some money through his account. According to them, he should collect 10% of the money and send the rest back to them.

It really looks like fraud. He wants to give them his account, and once he receive the payment, he will call the sender to see if he/she is being defraud. He can give the money back to the sender.

I told him not to give those crooks his account to avoid trouble with anyone but he doesn't want to listen. Is he taking a good decision?

Sometimes my girlfriend will suddenly be unhappy and when I ask her the reason she won't tell me. But few days ago, she opened up. She told me she is comparing me to her ex boyfriend. When I asked her on what bases, she told me how her ex used to wash her clothes for her, cook food for her, do the house cleaning for her, and do the shopping for her, and when she is not happy, the ex will feel unhappy.

I told her that if she is waiting for me to do all that, then she can as well wait for "Thee Kingdom Come" because to me that doesn't mean romantic but slavery.

There is this programme I enjoy watching everyday. The host of the program help people to solve their love affairs. Both victims and their counterparts would appear on the television to talk about what happen between them. Yesterday, I wonder if this is one of the most stupid things people do for the sake of love.

The lady involved was married and also has a kid. She was a nurse and had been working in a hospital for some years. Later, she fall in love with one of the doctors and decided to abandon her husband and her son. She went to live with the doctor and at the same time taking care of the doctor's father.

After about 6years, the doctor's father died and few weeks after the burial, the doctor threw the lady out of her house claiming that he doesn't have any feelings for the lady and also not ready to marry the lady. He even denied the lady during the yesterday's show. The lady realised her mistake and decided to apologize to her husband and son to take her back. The husband said that he won't be alive to see the lady living with him under the same roof. Though the son hugged the mother but also told her that for he doesn't want to loose his father and he(the son) has already believe that he has lost his mother.

No one seems to take the lady back. As a christian, if you find yourself in the husband's shoe, would you accept the lady back? To be sincere with myself, I won't accept her back. What about you?

Due to the recent scandal between  Terry and Wayne Bridge ex-girlfriend, Wayne Bridge has decided not to play for England in the coming world cup. Today he has also avoided shaking hands with John Terry.

My question is; Did he do the right thing?

From my own view point, I think he is acting childish. To back my reasons,
i.) He is a professional footballer.
ii.) The lady in particular is an EX-GIRLFRIEND
iii.) The current girl he is dating now, isn't she someone's ex?

What are your views?
EducationRNA For Sale ( The World In 2030) by chrishenzo(op): 12:18pm On Feb 23, 2010
I was reading a book on Memory, and somewhere within the line I read that the RNA of a rat that was trained to do some specific tasks, was taken and injected to another rat that doesn't know anything about the task nor has ever been trained before, and behold the rat started performing those tasks. The reason is that RNA has a lot to do with learning, thinking, and forgetting.

I pulsed for some minutes and asked myself these questions,
i.) Imagine the RNA of a guru, was injected into another person, what will be the result?
ii.)  Imagine your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife RNA is to be injected into you, will that allow you to remember some of his/her hinder secrets?
ii.) Imagine an animal RNA is to be injected into a human, will it make the person to understand animal world better.( for people that like animal)

Let's assume that scientist managed to make the above happen, and start selling RNA in form of capsules, what do you think,

i.) Will be the price of RNA of people like Aristotle, Socrates, King Solomon, (and others you think of)?
ii.) What will happen to you if you happen to take RNA of olodo before an exam or an interview?
iii.) Do you think that people will strive to read more to sell their RNA or do you think people won't strive to study again.
iv.) Do you think people will start living decent life because their husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend might walk up to them and said " Hi can I taste that RNA of yours?; knowing that the moment the spouse taste it, he/she will be able to remember some of his/her past?
