Then, he had only one cap for Austria in a friendly game, but now he is a full Austria international. I remember a certain time he scored for Mainz and Balogun congratulated him and called him "omo naija". Yes Karim Onisiwo is an Austrian international of naija descent |

komekn: Why should l he was having an abysmal season and played rubbish in France.
So there was nothing to say then now there is , you talk about players in form not failing and doing nothing.
But he is now. Bit confusing he has been consistently above average in the Championship with Fulham Wolves and a few other clubs goes to France and he just flopped.
I am also disappointed with Maja expected him to take his form from league one to the French league. But he has not been so impressive. Unlike Osimhen who has kicked off what he started at the Belguim league.
Admittedly it's early days yet let's see how things progress. Seems this ur rule only applies to Anglo Nigerian players, bkus u are the same person who always talk about the bad times Nigerian bred players have than the good times they have. U always talk more about Osimhen's Wolfsburg days than his Charleroi and Lille days, Chukwueze's off days than his stellar days, Omeruo's off days than his stellar days, Awaziem's off days than his stellar days. Lol should I talk about Nacho's Leicester days in comparison with his ManCity days? Bros relax, we know better U can only deceive the little minds in here, with the bolded |

forgiveness: Sheyi Ojo stats with Liverpool. 13 matches 2 goals and 5 assists.
Chukwueze Samuel stats with Villarreal. 38 matches, 8 goals and 3 assists.
Another left footed winger is needed. Gbam Professionally Ojo has played 78 matches across 6 clubs bro, against Chuk's 38. Yes another left footed winger(a back up to Chuks) is needed but, Ojo should watch it, Adekanye might just knick it. |

TheSuperNerd: Chris. I agree with you. Ojo is decent but not better than what we have on the wings. He is not on the same level as Chuks, Onyekuru, Musa, Kalu and even Simon.
But having said that... I retain special interest personally in the lad because of his left foot. He can surely be a decent backup to Chuks as another Left footed winger on either wings.... as a LW or as an inverted RW. Would be nice to see Ojo get better and step things up ahead of a call up to the Eagles because it is obvious his allegiance lies with us. Ojo will be a decent addition but yes... he is not on same level as the bad ass wingers we've got.
Let's hope he improves on the 1 goal and 2 assists in the SPL so far in 4 games and really give us something to wow about not just in Scotland but in the UEL as well. So far... I think the lad is on the right track but he must stay really grounded. KPOM |

Starboytwo: baba if he no fit dribble or do any tricks if he catch defender on the counter, we no need am... Boya he should wait for england When caught off guard as a talisman, and u can't conjure an improvised piece of skills like Kalu did against Ukraine, to meander and leave ur opponents in ur wake, then u aint got that much to offer. That said, I want Ojo or Adekanye in(left-footed inverted right wingers), Chucks needs a back up. Started loving Ojo when I saw him play for Wolves in the championship. |

komekn: I think for many here top class football is about show boating and dribbling and end product not high up.the scale of expectations.
Ojo is not very skillful or filled with a lot of trickery.
However, his end product is very good his work rate is very good, he got physicality as well as blistering pace.
Is he good enough for the SE l would say yes he is left footed. Is he better than what we have, that's a never ending debate and difficult because he's never been given a chance at the SE. I have always wanted Ojo around, atleast as a back up to Chucks, but if u wanna put down any of our present wingers in order to praise Ojo, then I would have to remind u that Ojo hasnt done nothing at the top stage unlike the ones we have already. We all saw him at Reims where he couldn't do no jack with his purported end product, physicality, blistering pace and work rate. In that same ligue1 where he looked lost, a player like Kalu has thrived and made name for himself, big time. The less said about Chuks who used the same Europa league to announce himself to Europe last season, the best. Bros, we dey watch Ojo as our own but him still has a long way to go, to get to the level our present wingers are now. Remember he hasn't been that impressive this season, in the lowly Scottish league. He has to give consistent top quality performances , if he must be given a look in. |

darkelf: Oga Icon4s, you're speaking with two mouths.
It was you and others that praised our present team for being better than the former super eagles teams in that we have a deep bench now.
So, I am surprised at your turnaround that the 2006 team is better all round and has a better bench.
That team (2006) was/is overrated. Chriskels puts everything in the correct perspective. Those midfielders were just senseless, unintelligent tacklers whose recklessness cost us dearly and whose lack of creativity smelled like rotten egg.
I won't pick any midfielder from that team today My dear that midfield was real poo, bar Mikel with his sideways passes |

Icon4s: So what are we talking about?
So who were the bench warmers that they were talking about because in the defense Odiah, Taiwo, Apam and Yobo were super regulars at their clubs and some with UCL experience.
Mikel, Obodo, Ayila, and Olofijana were our regular midfield options and were also regulars. And in the attack as at that 2008 I need not tell you the forms players like Osaze, Martins, Yakubu and Nsofor were. Let me also mention Utaka, Makinwa and Oghahowa. So oga Jihday who were the bench warmers? In 2008, before the Afcon, Obodo played only a single match for Udinese. Olofinjana just like a Etebo was a championship player, while Ayila could only play 15matches for Kiev. How do those stats translate to REGULARS STATS? |

charlesemeka85: ayila balled consistently for Ukraine giants dynamo kiev for over half a decade both in the league and Europe (ucl and uel). olofinjana on his path did well also for the teams he played for in the epl and champiomship. both players were good defensive midfielder and miles better than what we can boast of today in the current team(excluding ndidi). Could any of those guys start for us today? Dats the question. Who dey wan bench for Eagles starting eleven today? Simple question |

Icon4s: My guy talk wetin you know. We talk Goalkeepers of that era you dey mention Etafia and Ikeme. Compare Enyeama, Ejide and Ayenugba with today's Akpeyi, Ezenwa and Uzoho. Our current keepers are no where close and always a bunch of calamity waiting to happen.
I repeat none of our Full backs come close to Taiwo and Odiah. As for CB I will rate Apam (of 2008) with Awaziem.
Mikel + Obodo combo > Ndidi + Etebo
I don't even want to compare the forwards because the current players we have are still learning But Etafia and Ikeme of 2008 follow for the depth wey u say na die nah Enyeama was overly erratic until 2010 worldcup. His heroics against Argentina changed everything about how fans viewed him, and that was majorly what informed Lille's decision to sign him. So Enyeama wasn't really that special, neither was ejide nor Aiyenugba. Bros I would play Ndidi ahead of Mikel in the defensive midfield position, and shift Mikel to the CM in place of Obodo, who could only play once for Udinese in the season in question, and a total number of 78games from 2005 - 2012. Infact Obodo of 2008 wouldn't make Eagles bench today. Hence, in that midfield, only Mikel can break in to give us an Ndidi DM, Mikel CM and Iwobi AM set up. |

Icon4s: Haha. The current team is better? According to Danny this was in 2008, which Enyimba goalie are u talking about? Ayenugba or Enyeama?
Which of the current Full backs can u compare with Odiah and Taiwo. Apam and Nwanneri combo may not be as good as Ekong/Omeruo/Balogun( accepted) But look at midfield of Mikel, Obodo, Ayila, Kaita and Olofijana. This is better than the current midfield composition.
Finally look at that attack. We had so many attackers that we were playing Utaka/Obinna and Osaze as WFs. Kanu was an SS while Martins, Yakubu and Makinwa were CFs. Osinhem and Onuachu will not make the bench of that team. Even Ighalo. Ayila, Olofinjana and Kaita were exactly what we have today in Agu, Etebo, Onazi, full time roadside mechanics. Only Mikel would stake a claim. Ndidi and Iwobi would definitely start Odia was good but he wouldn't start in a team that has a healthy Tyrone. None of those centre backs would start for Eagles today. In 2008, Enyeama was a full time calamity, hence he was benched for a Ligue2 player. Ikeme then was inactive, in fact, he was more or less clubless after his non league stint with Stockport County. Etafia was the Akpeyi of today, Aiyenugba was Ezenwa. Like I said earlier, that team only had the attack going for them. Nothing special really |

Icon4s: Chai! This squad na die. See the Keepers list, see the defense, see the strikers!!! Na who we been wan kill with this squad?
This is a very deep squad. The bench will definitely be as good as the starting 11. And this what the current team lacks. We have a good starting 11 but not bench. That was why we could easily throw away a 2-0 lead after a few substitutions.
Them suppose show Rohr and NFF this list: "where we were and where we are now".
I have always said it that the 2000s Eagles squad had what it takes to conquer Africa and make a major impact in the WC but our non-participation in the 2006 WC was a major blow. That list up there was some time in 2005/2006. I can not see the DIE in this squad. In the defense, I can only see Taiwo, Babayaro(both leftbacks) and Apam CB. In the midfield, Mikel and Obodo. The less said about the goalkeeping position, the best, with ligue2, Israeli, Baroka and Enyimba goalkeepers. This team only has some good names in attack, other positions na wash. This squad is definitely not half as good as what we have now. |
