very well said.

The advantage of having someone hold your hands for the first days cannot be overemphasised.

pompido:

Funny thing is you will be shocked at what savings you can have if someone picks you up at the airport rather than you paying for taxi to your accommodation. For example, most people will tell you to use the Kielus bus from Hamburg airport to Kiel (cost 14 euros for CAU students and 21 euros for FH kiel and others) when you arrive while a truly experienced person will offer you the option using flixbus instead which could cost you only 5euros or so. An option is the train as mentioned but with all the luggage, you would rather a direct trip than a trip with changes at different stations and having to tug at the heavy luggage. Even here, someone who knows his way around can inform you to book superspar price trip instead of the regular price you see on apps and website or at the ticket machine, thus saving you some money.

Using your admission letter to take buses for free in your city while waiting for your school pass is also something that will save you money if you know. No one can confidently say they can provide accommodation for anyone from Nigeria but tips and assistance in trying to secure one (say using their phone numbers and address to apply for those private apartments in big cities) may go a long way. Next steps in settling down like city registration, school stuffs, permit and even jobs are why you need to have people you can reach out to.

Even the smallest cost savings as to where to buy what matters. e.g. REWE is a bit expensive (if only REWE is close to you, stick to JA! products. They are cheaper), Penny, Aldi, Lidl and Netto are some of the cheapest supermarkets to buy stuff from with differences of 10cents and above cheesy

Thing is everyone will eventually settle and find their way but having someone on ground to guide you every step of the way could be the difference between a hard landing and a soft landing.

Of course you will find Nigerians in almost every city you go but as some have found out, attitudes will differ.

Maybe a all in one package will work for the service owners and those interested, I was just seeing the useful side of the idea.

Best regards

hmm... good point..thats why we need the survey to know whats most important for people coming in....

In my case , If someone picked me, I wont have spent 60 Euros on Taxi from the train station to my apartment. It would have been 3 Euros.

Thanks for the feedback.
Thegamingorca:

Frankly I'm more interested in securing accommodation waiting on ground prior to arrival m8.

The other perks look all catchy and flamboyant but mehhhhhh.

What's an airport pickup going to do for me? Like who gives two shits when there are taxis and trains.

Then again I don't want a guide through out my stay in germany...like I'm hoping that was an error or what the hell do I need you sticking around for?

Fact is that, it's the accommodation issue that is a headache

It depends on the city. In my case I got a good job in dusseldorf without good german. However German language skill greatly increases your chances and jobs that need German actually require like A2 level upwards. I stand to be corrected though.
Also just take the risk and always apply and expect plenty rejections. You have nothing to lose.

Barth88:
@computerholicgoc, what are job opportunities like for people like us who aint proficient in german at all? tho i intend taking A1 classes before travelling, did u arm yourself with the language proficiency b4 departing Nigeria which enabled u get a job quicker or u began learning german when u arrived

Thanks a lot
Eldeee:

For now, let her use the booking system by keeping refreshing the webpage between 11.55pm to 12.30am. Dates usually come up during that time. People who used the email address system have not gotten any response of late from what have we recorded here of recent so far though I stand to be corrected anyway.

Hello Everyone,

This may be redundant but I have a friend trying to apply for visa interview slot for winter semester 2019/2020.
Does she send a mail or use the booking system (which has no slot presently)?

Thanks in advance

They have a pay via mastercard option, if that doesnt work with your card, you could get someone in germany to pay for you(If you have someone)

Hello Guys,

So I got the fintiba plus package which comes with health insurance; on my visa application form will I be right to select yes for "do you have health insurance that covers the fed rep of Germany"? (Given that I'm not in Germany yet)

Secondly,
At what point do I need a travel insurance? Before or after getting my visa?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

I just sent a brief mail to the contact on my enrollment form and sent a message on the general contact form for incoming students.

Hello Sir/Ma,

I got admitted to the European Master in Project Management, currently doing my online enrollment.

However, due to the possibility of visa delay, will it be possible to get a letter of Enrollment Extension till October?

This will aid the visa application process in my country (Nigeria).

Looking forward to hearing from you..

Kind Regards

samajayi1:

I also need enrolment deadline extension. Please who did you write. The international office of your school or your programme coordinator.

And please I also need the format of the letter.

Thank you.
