A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has declared that those behind the religious clashes in Kaduna State will be severely punished.
Tinubu condemned the fresh communal crisis at Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state, which left over 55 people dead.
The APC leader stated this in a statement in Lagos by his Media Office and signed by Tunde Rahman.
The former Lagos State Governor and federal lawmaker pointed out that it was necessary for people of various religious groups and persuasions to accommodate one another.
The APC leader admonished “traditional, religious and youth leaders to embrace peace and put an end to the mayhem and bloodshed,” which first reared its head in the area in February this year, claiming 10 lives.
He particularly urged “the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna State and in the troubled area to inculcate in their members and youths generally, the importance of peaceful co-existence and the sanctity of human life,” saying “without peace and tranquility, a society cannot make any meaningful progress.”
“Security agencies must also be alive to their responsibilities and step up their intelligence gathering mechanism. The police should be pro-active so they nip any deadly attack in the bud before they are hatched.
“We must bring all the perpetrators of this fresh attack to book, they must be made to face the full wrath of the law in order to serve as a deterrent against any future nefarious plan,” he added.

PDP Presidential Aspirant, Atiku Abubakar has attacked Nigeria's minister of Information branding him the "High Priest of the APC cult of Fake News".
Atiku accused Mohammed of dishonesty about a statement he made in an article published in an online news medium titled; ‘2019: International media query emergence of Atiku over suspicious source of wealth’.
Below is a statement from Atiku's camp made available to PoliticsNGR, addressing the comment;
"The attention of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation has been drawn to a sponsored news story on Vanguard newspapers of Saturday, October 20, 2018, with the headline ‘2019: International media query emergence of Atiku over suspicious source of wealth’.
In the said report, not one international media was quoted. Rather, it was the notoriously dishonest All Progressives Congress minister of information, Lai Mohammed, who was quoted alleging that that was what the international media told him.
Quoting the said story, Vanguard reported as follows:
“The minister said: “One curious issue that kept occurring was that anytime I spoke about how we have waged war against corruption, the journalists kept asking me a question. “They asked me: How can you claim to have succeeded in waging war against corruption, when one of the major contestants in the 2019 general elections is actually a man with stupendous wealth but cannot explain the source of his wealth?”
How anyone would take the word of a confirmed liar, as Lai Mohammed, for the Gospel truth is beyond us.
To show you how unreliable Lai Mohammed is, at the lecture in the Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House) with the topic, “Nigeria’s National Unity: Towards Participation and Shared Values”, which was his main reason for going to London, Lai Mohammed said: “we do not need to do anything extra because we have delivered on all our promises and Nigerians are quite happy and satisfied with the government”.
How the minister of information of a government that has turned Nigeria into the world headquarters for extreme poverty can say that is beyond imagination. Is Mr. Mohammed claiming that his party promised and delivered poverty and Nigerians are satisfied with this world record poverty?
If Lai Mohammed can lie openly at Chatham House in front of the international press and diplomatic corps, is it a big thing for him to lie about his accounts with the international media?
The true position of things is that ever since the emergence of His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party after the elective congress of the party on October 6-7, the international media has been agog with praise for Mr. Abubakar and hope for a new dawn in Nigeria.
Reuters praised Atiku as having “long enjoyed support from the business elite in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos for his conservative-capitalist ideals”. They went on to further give him kudos for his record in office by saying “as vice president in a PDP administration from 1999-2007, (he) implemented a programme of liberalisation in areas including the telecoms sector.”
The number one policy magazine in the world, The Economist, described His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, “as a business-friendly candidate who will get Nigeria’s economy going.”
Not one single international paper, magazine, TV station or website has had anything negative to say about the Waziri Adamawa’s emergence. That lie only exists in the fallacious imagination of Lai Mohammed.
On the contrary, international media and even reputable global financial institutions have predicted doom for Nigeria should Muhammadu Buhari be re-elected.
According to one of the world’s largest banks, HSBC, “a second term for Mr Buhari however raises the risk of limited economic progress and further fiscal deterioration, prolonging the stagnation of his first term, particularly if there is no move towards completing reform of the exchange rate system or fiscal adjustments that diversify government revenues away from oil.”
On its own part, The Economist wrote off the Buhari administration as a failure, saying “The 2019 elections will be a close contest between the ruling APC and the PDP. We expect the PDP presidential candidate to win.”
Nigerians can no longer be hoodwinked by the Orwellian propaganda that is the signature of this administration.
The 2019 presidential election will be determined by Nigerian voters and not by political soothsayers. Nigerians will make a determination whether to settle for incompetence versus competence; cluelessness versus knowhow; joblessness versus employment; restiveness versus engagement; divisiveness versus unity; nepotism versus merit and bigotry versus inclusiveness.

The Kaduna State Police Command says four persons were killed as unknown gunmen last Friday kidnapped the traditional ruler of Adara chiefdom, Maiwada Galadinma and his wife while traveling along Maikyali village along Kaduna -Kachia road in Kachia Local Government area of the state.
According to the state police command spokesperson, DSP Yakubu Sabo, the incident happened at about 6:30 pm.
He said some armed men intercepted the convoy of the traditional ruler and opened fire, forcing them to stop.
“In the process, his police orderly and three others in the vehicles were shot dead. The bandits took away the royal father and his wife Mrs Victoria to unknown destination. A combine team of Police, Military and local Vigilante alongside the Anti Kidnapping Unit were mobilised to comb the general area and mount surveillance with a view to rescuing the victims and arresting the criminals. The IGP IRT were also contacted for technical assistance in tracking the bandits.”
The police command's spokesperson said the remains of those killed have been deposited at Kachia General Hospital.

The Plateau pond of blood is a sad metaphor of the huge pond of blood that has become the reality of our national life. Nigeria has become a huge island; not of water but an island of ponds of blood. The Plateau ponds dotting the landscape of Plateau State, were of course, not created by the natives. The Plateau natives, just like all other natives, were historically, victims, whose fates have undergone a strange phenomenal metamorphosis from victimhood to culprit-hood (permit the diction) on account of elite manipulations into fighting proxy wars.
The history of Plateau ponds is a history of British foreign expansionism euphemistically dubbed, “colonization” of Nigeria; an expansionism not driven by any values of humanity but bed-rocked solely on the greMany may not be aware that the beginning of colonial government exploitation of the country’s natural resources was also the beginning of the history of blood; of wanton deaths by preventable accidents at the mines; of many more deaths of natives by outright murder resulting from local resistance of the colonial inhumanity; and worse, the beginning of seed of death sprouting from the very many fractured legacies of oppression and exclusion, the two mortal inheritances left behind by the colonial masters for successive servants-turned elites in the wake of Nigeria’s independence.
Many may not be aware that the beginning of colonial government exploitation of the country’s natural resources was also the beginning of the history of blood; of wanton deaths by preventable accidents at the mines; of many more deaths of natives by outright murder resulting from local resistance of the colonial inhumanity; and worse, the beginning of seed of death sprouting from the very many fractured legacies of oppression and exclusion, the two mortal inheritances left behind by the colonial masters for successive servants-turned elites in the wake of Nigeria’s independence.
The successive servant-elites of the colonial masters have successfully lived up to their calling of advancing the cause of their inherited legacies; the cause of oppression, of exploitation and exclusionism, nurtured by bloodletting and sustained even by more blood of the innocent, whose nomenclatures change with the change of baton of power. With the colonial masters, they bore the nomenclatural identity of natives. Now, with the elites in control, comes another change of identity to the “locals”. The resources are no longer limited to the natural endowment. The elite scramble for partition is now done on the sharing table of political intrigues.
The ensuing elite fight from their conflicting interests in the scramble for partition of the national resources is what has now morphed into, and dressed up, as tribal, ethnic, clannish and religious agitations bedevilling the nation, resulting in the very many ponds of blood dotting the nation’s landscape.
Unknown to the uninitiated, at every point in time when a particular elite suffers a lopsided balance in the share of the national spoils, his or their interests, depending on whether they are in group, automatically morph into a collective interest of the tribe, ethnicity or religion, and dressed up as such. The elite interests dressed up as such assume a proxy status requiring only but an ethnic or religious indoctrination for easy recruitment of the poor (made so by the elites) to engage in the corollary proxy war.
Such is the circumstance of the Birom natives, and indeed many natives of other ethnic nationalities, adherent of religious convictions, associates of political opinions and ideologies, and even members of professional interest groups, who, despite being kept in pitiable oppressive exclusion yet unconsciously and unsuspectingly, fighting the proxy wars of their respective elites.
Today, the Birom natives and indeed, all other “natives” of either religion or politics, are in a rather complex labyrinth of culpatory narratives woven against them for fighting the proxy war of the elites; the war that has neither a permanent victory nor defeat, but permanent selfish interests of their respective elites. Would the discovery of the Plateau pond of blood be the beginning of the dismantling of the all-pervasive smouldering furnace of hate stoke by the elite? Only time will tell.

A woman has died after a suspected gas explosion saw flames tear through a flat in Harrow, north west London, overnight.
Picture show the devastating impact of the fire on the home in Fulbeck Way, with flames and smoke billowing into the night sky.
A second woman and a baby are currently being treated in hospital as sniffer dogs have been called in to search through the rubble of the destroyed building.
The victim was found inside the flat as firefighters searched the property this morning.
The baby was among three people who had to be rescued from the first floor of the two-storey building as emergency services, including 70 firefighters, responded to the incident.
The London Fire Brigade said: ‘The first floor partially collapsed due to the force of the explosion. Sadly, one woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘Firefighters using an aerial ladder platform and breathing apparatus rescued a man, woman, and a baby from the first floor.
‘The woman and baby were assessed at the scene and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.’
Local resident Rahman Alanezi told the Press Association: ‘Everyone was screaming that there was a baby inside and they took him out.’
He added that an ‘old lady’ was missing after the blast.
Around 40 people were evacuated from nearby properties as a precaution as crews tackled the blaze for several hours.
The LFB said the fire had been brought under control by about 3.30am.
The woman’s body was found at about 4am as firefighters searched the property, the Metropolitan Police said.
The LFB and the Met are probing the cause of the blast and the Health and Safety Executive has been informe

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents, in a convoy of gun trucks, attacked Kalle community of Borno State and killed 12 farmers, yesterday morning.
The farmers were working on their farmlands, when the terrorists burst out from the northern flank of Sambisa Forest near Molai community.A Civilian JTF leader, Baba Kura Konomi in Maiduguri said: “The insurgents used machetes, instead of guns to kill 12 farmers, while working on their farmlands, located along Maiduguri-Damboa Road. They had guns but refused to use them, so as not to attract attention of security agencies stationed in Molai community.”
He explained that Kalle community is 17 kilometres south of Maiduguri, the hotbed of nine-year insurgency. Kolomi said the terrorists belong to the Abubakar Shekau Boko Haram faction that attacks both military and civilians since 2009.

The leadership of the proscribed separatist group, IPOB has confirmed the reappearance of Nnamdi Kanu.
The Indigenous People of Biafra on Friday said it had seen its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the body said its leader was seen in Jerusalem at the Wailing Wall, where he joined other faithful to offer prayers.
The group’s statement read in part, “Fellow Biafrans, friends of Biafra, enemies of Biafra, men and women of goodwill and of good conscience across the world, we wish to reliably inform you that the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, prayed today at the Wailing Wall in the Holy City of David in Jerusalem Live today, October 19, 2018.
“Biafrans, be resolute, this is the beginning of the struggle for Biafra’s independence. We thank God, Almighty God, for his protection and safety.”
Kanu had been missing since September 14, 2017, when some soldiers allegedly invaded his house in Afara Ukwu in Umuahia, Abia State, during a military exercise in the South-East titled, ‘Operation Python Dance ll’. The whereabouts of Kanu and his parents had remained unknown since then.
IPOB had accused the military of whisking its leader and his parents away, urging the Federal Government to produce them. Kanu is facing trial for treason in Nigeria. A video of the leader of the separatist Igbo group performing Jewish prayer rights trended online on Friday.
His younger brother, Emmanuel, said the family received the news through an online video shared by one Castro Nkume.
Emmanuel told Saturday PUNCH in a phone interview that the Deputy Director of IPOB, Uche Ejiofor, had also confirmed that the man seen in the video was Kanu.
Emmanuel said IPOB members and the entire residents of their community received the news with joy.
He however said the family had yet to receive information concerning the whereabouts of Kanu’s parents.
He said, “I can confirm to you that the person in the video is Kanu. He was praying in the video that we saw. We are happy that he is still alive and we will try to establish communication with him.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army on Friday could not be reached for comments on the latest media report on Kanu.
The military had once declared Kanu wanted.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Texas Chukwu, could not be reached on his mobile phone as it rang out several times.
A text message also sent had not been replied as of press time.
Also, the Director, Defence Information, Brig Gen John Agim’s mobile phone was switched off as of press time.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has moved ex-governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose from its Abuja office to Lagos state where he will be tried at a Federal High Court on Monday October 22nd. Fayose visited the anti-graft agency’s office on Tuesday, October 16th, to answer questions regarding his involvement in the $2.1 billion arms procurement funds. He is alleged to have received N1.3 billion from the office of the former National Security officer, Sambo Dasuki, through Musiliu Obanikoro for the rigging of the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state. OBJ: OBJ fought in the civil war, he was the most decisive officer in the field as he lead Nigeria's first sea to land assault.He seized PH and Owerri forcing Biafra's to surrender. He became Head of State, then became Civilian President for two terms.
Tinubu: Tinubu was governor of Lagos and since then his 'babies' have been in power. Tinubu is the only 99' governor with a powerful and unchallenged political dynasty. Jagaban is arguably Nigeria's most powerful politician right now and kudos to him for masterminding the APC national victory.

A serious broke out early this morning at the New African Shrine popularly known as Fela shrine in Ikeja area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the clash occurred following a heated disagreement between two groups following this year's edition of Felabration which saw thousands of Nigerians gather to celebrate the music legacies of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
The fight was quelled by officers of the Rapid Response Squad who stationed patrol teams in the area to forestall a repeat. Some suspects were also arrested by the police.
Felabration, now in its 20th year, was initiated by Yeni Kuti, Fela’s first child and her brother Femi, as a platform to celebrate their father’s legacy.
This annual music festival runs for a week and attracts guests from around the world who are entertained with a rich display of the Nigerian culture, music and discussions on topical issues affecting society

A school principal allegedly flogged a female corps member in Akwa Ibom for helping a friend to write attendance at her place of primary assignment. The corps member was mercilessly flogged by one Deacon Friday Udoka, the principal of her PPA, the Government Technical College in Abak, Akwa Ibom State. According to reports, the assault was because the lady, Kolawole Olaitan Adeola, helped her friend write her name in the attendance register of the college, on Friday, October 19, 2018. The principal was said to have flogged her in his office before dragging her outside to continue the flogging in the presence of students. Udoka then proceeded to notify the NYSC Local Government Inspector that he no longer needs her in the school.
