I want to share my interview experience with you guys because today I had a succesful interview.I got at the embassy in yaounde at 6:30am with my sister and her husband by my side i had that confidence that everything will be ok. At about 8:30am after all security checks, i realised that i have only one photocopy for each of my documents meanwhile they needed by two photocopies for each document. So after paying for the embassy fee of 174000fcfa, i took permission and when to do the other photocopies. At about 10:00am, I was called at window 2 for documents checks. after verifying if all my documents were ok, i was asked to sit and wait for my intetrview. At 11:15am, my nber beeped at window 6 and the interview goes thus:
co: how are today? me: i am fine; and you? co:fine thank you co:could you raise your right hand up and take oath? me: sure co: when did you suceed in your bacc exam? me: 2010 co: where do u entend to live in the us? me: blablablaaaaaaaaaa co:with who to you entend to live and who is he to you? me:blablablaaaaaa co:what do you want to do in the us? me: I want to further my studies and contribute my own quota to the us economy and also to be a member of the AAA co: congrats your visa have been approved comeback next week and pick it up me: thank you very much. That was how it all went. I want to thank everybody on this forum for the support and ideas and also I want to wish goodluck to everybody who is still awaiting his or her interview. God who started it for us will surely complete it in the name of Jesus. Congrats!! |

dutmond: Hello great house, I have come back to share my interview experience at US embassy on 21st June.
After winning the lottery last May 1st, I did court wedding/engagement with my (then) Fiancee in the month of Sept. I called KCC and was advised to add my wife to my case which I did by re-sending updated forms. I prepared very well for the interview, I even wrote/passed microsoft exam a day before the interview and result was presented on interview day.
Note that my wife was 9month pregnant as at day of interview and we were called to windows 16.
Interview goes thus;
CO: good morning We: good morning sir CO: do u swear to say the truth We: yes sir (while right hand raised) We were then intructed to do finger prints which we did. CO: wife please have your seat while I attend to your husband first We: ok CO: what's your highest qualification Me: Higher National Diploma CO: field of study? Me: Elect/elect engineering CO: how did you meet your wife Me: I explained CO: was your traditional wedding the major wedding Me: yes and we did Civil wedding too CO: okay, show me your wedding pictures Me: (while showing him, I told him names of the people inside the pictures) CO: who is this standing with you wife? Me: that's my wife's kid sister CO: how old is she? Me: 26yrs or so CO: I can see your wife is pregnant, how old pregnant? Me: she is in her 9th month CO: really! (with surprise) Me: yes
Without inviting my wife for questioning, he just brought out two white sheets and circled one address and told me to pick up our visas the following friday.
CO: any question? Me: pls what is the latest time/date my wife/baby can join me in the US. CO: (while checking the calender,) first week of november, you know your medicals should not expire before traveling. Me: that's true...thanks and God bless you.
While leaving the embaSsy that day, some workers there were saying "congrats Oº°˚˚°º , make u celebrate for us na, abi u no no say na US citizen ur wife go born"...I still don't understand wot they mean.
To cut the story short, I now have our visas. And my wife gave birth 4 days after our interview.
I then emailed the embassy to inform them of recent development, we were advised to return to the embassy with the baby's passport, birth cert, immunization cert and $165.
Guys, na so God take bless me in the month of June Oº°˚˚°º ...I am to travel 1st to US by month end, and wife/baby to join me as soon as I am feasibly settled (b4 november sha)...Cincinnati Loading...
I give thanks to God...and pray that all you guys awaiting your interview, you shall return to give your success experience IJN...
God bless nairaland Congrats bro! Double blessing oh, GOD is faithful! |

Would you please let me know, how long does administration process takes in your country.

CO: details of your education with date Me: bbbbbbbbbbb CO: Have you ever been married? CO: any kid? Me: No CO: Congratulations.

magicmase: Greetings to everyone, had a successful interview yesterday, less than 5 minutes. The co only asked where I schooled, served and where I'm working. Still speechless... Here's my advice to everyone getting ready. 1. No phones, earphones, flashdrives, metal objects except keys, liquids (mothers with babies maybe allowed...emphasis on Maybe), powders & cameras allowed, once you have been checked around 5:45 & are being told to que, leave them with an officer outside, if you are found with any of these inside during checks you will be sent out to drop them & start he que from the beginning...this happened to me twice, wasting time as my tag was eventualy 431 instead of 408 or something. 2. Carry all originals of required documents not just photocopies, for me these were, ssce from waec, ssce from school, testimonial from school, uninversity & nysc if you have completed those, dont forget original, police report, npc birth cert, int. passport, medicals (xray not needed) and your 2nd letter for interview. Passport size is 2x2 inch dv size on a white or grey background, get it right pls because its #2,000 outside the embassy. 3. If you didnt fill in a us address when filling your forms & just got one, write the hosts name, address, zip code & telephone no, neatly on a piece of paper, i recommend you type & print. 4. Visa fee is #54,500, but carry extra just in case. 5, No need for fancy suit dressing, a nice shirt & trousers is fine, if your a family, u can all just wear matching clothes like asoebi, not a must tho. 6. Eat something before coming oh, once you enter the final interview room, I don't think you can come out without a special pass. 7. Relax, the cos are really nice, unless you're lying...& yes they can read your mind. But seriously I saw an elderly lady who couldn't speak english & had to interviewed with an interpreter get issued a visa...so start smiling, unless you are a fake married couple. 8. Almost forgot, when you get your tag, watchout for your tag number to be displayed to drop your documents, sometimes your name will be called instead so stay sharp. Also keep your payment reciept safe cause the co will ask for it. All the best, a very extra special thanks to everyone here who offered advice...please don't stop. Congrats bro! |
Well, I have followed this site and the forum particularly , even though , I never respond to the views shared on here. I gained tremendously from the site and I will always recommend it to all. Well , I was a lucky applicant, went for the interview and was successful. My plan is to travel to NY and settle there , but my host is acting up. Right now ,I need someone that is willing to travel to NY any time soon , so that we can share apartment and stuff like that . I learnt it might be hard for a fresher to stay on his own without the host. Well the hustling spirit of Nigeria lives in us.. I'll be glad to provide additional info about me that might be needed for prospectives NY bound peps...
As regards the interview , is the simplex thing I ever encountered.. Do not be scared ,stay focus ,look into his eyes and smile at times.. You would not believed that the CO jokingly said that"you earn more than I do "I replied .. you are always in the AC and am always on the road. I was the first person he granted that morning after denying four eligible families. GOD is great peps....
I believed anybody that has gone through secondary school will scale through . Even if one have not been to school believe , study what you filled in the form and ease your mind. The CO repeatedly asked my partner same questions four times before she eventually got the questions and answered. God is great guys..
Its well..
Congrats! |

kaygee1977: Dear Forum...I was interviewed today...my interview was smooth until the CO kept asking if i am sure that I am single due to previous Non Immigrants Visa Applications I have done in the past as far back as 2004 and 2007 that was denied consecutively...I have been put on further administrative process. I was given a contact sheet to fill...my relative, friend and neighbour must also fill to do a cross check on my marital status as single. I have told the CO that I am single. I have sent the filled form as directed. Please support me in Prayers for God's purpose to be fulfilled in my life. Amen. I believe strongly in the Lord and I will keep standing in my faith for my visa to be granted. The CO said it is just a cross examination that I am not denied... Thank you as you support me in Prayers. God bless us.
Congratulations to all that got their visa granted today. Don't stress bro, GOD dey. |

kemseg2005: I am a DV 2013 winner and I have been following this thread since 2012. I must confess that you guys are wonderful and kudos to those who have made this forum a great success. Let me quickly share my interview experience which took place on June 4, 2013 (7 am appointment). We (Myself, wife & three kids) arrived the embassy at 6am in the morning and after the security check we entered the interview hall and made payment before submitting our documents. At about 8.30am the Co in window 14 & 15 appeared. The Co in window 14 was very tough but I noticed at the end that he gave the E-passport back to those couple.
We were the third to be interview by the nice Elderly man in window 16. After the swearing and fingerprint stuff, the man asked my wife and children to find somewhere to sit becuase I am the principle winner.
CO- Pick the phone cos I want to talk to you privately ME- Ok CO- Good morning sir ME- morning sir CO- Tell me your highest level of education ME- I told him CO- When did you graduate and tell me your course of student ME- I told him CO- Did you serve ME- Yes I did CO- What did you do ME- Teaching CO- Do you have another children outside this three ME- No CO- Do you have another wife ME- No CO- What do you do for a living ME- I am a Federal Civil Servant
At this point I was expecting the man to call my wife for questioning because we were prepared for him with loads of photographs and other documents. Surprisingly the man didn't call my wife, he just picked two white form and circled the Lekki visa collection address and congratulated me. I did not recognise Pato and Jasper 400 but I know he reffered to us being the first person to be intervied in window 16.
I wish those having their interview next week a successful interview and those waiting for their 2nd NL not to panic co's all of you will be current in Jesus nane. Congrats!! |

honeydee: Ure welcome but do you already have your interview date cos its better to do it close to your interview. I'm nt too sure of how long it takes to expire. Yeah, my interview is in July. It should take at least 3 months to expire...hopefully. |

seal777: Seal777 reporting live from Houston , Texas.
Landed sunday night at the George Bush Airport aboard Qatar airways after 8 hrs stop over in doha, went through the immigration, stopped for a check on my baggade and have my dried meat ( tinko ) , ginger and knoor chicken trashed by the airport screening officials, i was advice before leaving Naija to take red cab home since my host will nto be available to pick me at the airport but i saved $46 by taking a shuttle bus for $34 ( after an intenet search for cheaper shuttle at Doha ) instead of red cab for $80 to my destination ( naija brain ? ).
I am home trying to learn the ropes, gone out sevarally using the metro bus card with effective use of the navigation on my ipad. Its a nice environment here in houston and i am hoping to enjoy every bit of it.
In the meantime, i opened an account with Bank of America already and started spending from the account.......waiting arround for my GC and SSN. I have got some job offers awaiting my documentation.
All for now, thanks all for your support. Congrats Sir! I noticed you said you had some jobs awaiting some documentation. How did you get them before travelling? |
