Car Talk › Re: 2016 Toyota Avalon Flooded, (non Starter) Needs Repair. Solved page 5 by chukel(m): 11:23am On Nov 10, 2017 |
Marpol: I have seen an incident like this play out before. Someone I know bought a flooded 2007 BMW 5 series from auctionexport. The car was not coming on or starting and he paid $2700 for it. When car got to Nigeria according to him the rewire only changed a fuse and car started working.
He is still driving it till today. This happened like 3 to 4 years ago.
Most times these auction sites will mark the level of the flooding on the car body. And the water wey i dey drive my Honda city pass everyday in Nigeria is more than flooding if you ask me.
@OP carry go jare!!! true. But most times those marks are not a true reflection of water level but a reflection of settled water level. That is where settled flood level leaves mark on the vehicle. But most cases the flood would have been much higher but flowing. The mark is stagnant flood level |

Check your tires and rims. If possible, transfer those of the rear to the front and see if it makes any difference. You may have a slightly bent rim or bad tires. |

torres89: you don't Know me really
so let me just keep it calm
probably I was sent to expose some low tech guys that claim what there are not.
did I learn about compression from the net
hell nooooo , I spent a whole year studying mechanical courses in the four walls of distinguished environment.
I also furthered my knowledge practically with top engineering companies.
so have seen the true definition of compression not just theoretically but also in practice. not just in cars also. but big and expensive equipment.
so what's that thing u said about the internet again
if I need to sort for information I know where to look , I know where to go.
don't get me wrong, am not undermining the capabilities of the internet.
but if u have ever being into complex engineering problems , u would know the internet isn't the best place to look.
case 1 my former boss and I were once faced with a problem of a factory compressor. very expensive equipment to maintain
plus it comes with a whole load of sensors and actuators plus wiring diagram
that day I actually learnt how terrible the internet could be.
case 2
few months ago I worked at someone's company.
and he kept on preaching to me on how to lookup the internet for solutions, like I don't know how to press my phone. well that guy has the record of the most unfinished jobs have ever seen. well since the internet is his bedrock. I can't be any less surprised
case 3
when building my robot.... how did the internet help me and my team lol I don't even wanna narrate that.
my point is this ; the internet is only good for diy. when it comes to real troubleshooting, u need not practical experience alone. but the theory and principle of operation of the system or unit.
how do u fix a cylinder that is worn out
and what makes u think one cylinder can't cause a serious misfire. that can make the car go into limp mode
have u designed an engine before or do u know the calculations involved in engine design
the white man created that thing with a lot of calculations, and u just despise his work like u are the next Albert Einstein
instead of u to judge based on fact u are drawing conclusion based on ,what we know could be an error code.
am always a learner , i like to learn and see things in a practical and logical manner.
so until u bring me a solid prove, that won't violate any logical and engineering principle, Oga u have said nothing
and as for calling my Oga honmusa
well am deeply honoured
without prejudice...
peace. you sound well versed but all I can deduce from your whole write up is that you have very poor research capabilities. I may be wrong. Bottom line of what op said is that cylinder 4 misfire made that ride go into limp mode. Simulate cylinder 4 misfire on same vehicle and see if it will go into limp mode. That's practical enough. |

torres89: selfish Nigerians
no one willing to accept another man's view
most people kept shouting swirl valve
well did any of you bother to read on the principle of compression and engine vacuum 2
let's stop being parts changers
what kind of mechanic looks up the internet for solutions
that's a very dull mechanic and I will say that anywhere. 1 owing to the fact that similar symptoms on two different vehicles will never or might not point out the main culprit.
checking the net should be very last resort.
only check the net for rare vehicles with silly cases.. not this easy one
the main problem here is this :
most peeps don't even understand the principle of pressure or engine compression I doubt if most of you guys understand the working principle of an engine
that's why most peeps here have a pile of return jobs u even see cars lined up in their garage for as long as a year. just because of their shallow knowledge on diagnosis
as for those of u who recommend the mechanic work on the engine, please kindly Access YouTube and watch videos on MRO facilities, then u will known y local mechanics shouldn't open your engine 3
am tempted to mention so called big names here who have a very shallow knowledge on diagnosis and can't tackle complex issues . but I won't and no one should force me too
cause have being to their garage and studied their work ethics
iin fact let me just stop
honmusa is the best 4 did you actually read this before posting. You just made a caricature of your self. I numbered your goofs. 1. What is Internet meant for and why is ur oga even advertising his feat here on the Internet. The number 1 bolded shows you were sent. 2. Where will you read the principle of compression and engine vacuum if not on the Internet. You are really not smart. 3.you still referred us to the Internet to watch youtube. What are you even saying. 4. You finally exposed yourself. Like I said earlier, you are not smart. If you noticed along the line, poster said misfire was intermittent. He said loss of compression is responsible for misfire. Is loss of compression intermittent too? Meanwhile, the symptom that brought the car to the workshop was constant. Op, just listen to other people's input. No one is an island of knowledge. Overseas, when intermittent issues are brought to the technician, they try to simulate the problem or probable cause of the problem to produce the presenting symptom. Only cylinder 1 misfire will not make that car go into limp mode. I have an infiniti Qx4 2002 that has cylinder 1 misfire. I'm the only one that knows that cos I scanned it. You can only notice that subtly on idle. |
