ojzreal: Good morning house Please I need some direction I got admission for fall 2020 to study professional accounting at fanshawe college, My main sponsor is my mum who is a midwife/nurse in dubai with a monthly pay of 1mill but her current Acct bal is 1.5mill so she’s applying for education loan that will cover my tuition, living expenses for the one year program, does it raise a red flag?? Does it mean I can’t tender this bank statement when applying for study permit
Please please please, kindly assist with some insight. Thanks My suggestion, Since this year academic calendar has been disrupted, why not defer your admission to next year probably may, From now till then you mum would have enough money to present, rather than going for education loan for you.. jpepper: I get your point, i think you were asked to present a permit “at” the school because they assumed that you will be physically present which the “normal” scenario. A study permit allows one to study “in” a country, if you are studying online you are not in the country for that period abi? Anyway let me not over-flog this issue, i am sure our schools will provide guidance. I believe this page from U or R will help you understand

jpepper: Why would one need a visa to attend online classes? I believe the purpose of the visa is to allow entry into the country, if you will be studying online then i think it makes sense that proof of payment of fees should be sufficient for now until one needs to be physically present. It is like saying people who do online degrees need a visa? Abi is my logic wrong? Yes very wrong |

Naijaforeigner: I am actually searching for the truth in your post. I will address key points from your previous post.
1. Visa is not a right, It is a privilege
I completely agree. So because visa is not a right does that mean the process should be unfair, inconsistent and inefficient? Do you see so much complaints in the UK student thread?
Most people are complaining about the process not the outcome. If people are rejected and the process is fair, there will be little or no complaints.
10 different applicants will apply from different parts of Nigeria and they will all be refused for generic reasons. These 10 different applicants will pay and apply for GCMS notes and they all get similar generic statements. Does it not occur to you that there is something wrong with the process? To add salt to injury, applicants are even refused within 3 days. Are you saying they verified documents within 3 days? Is IRCC not paid processing fees?
2. Nigerians come to Canada and don't go to school and they use fake documents
Another myth peddled around without facts. Austacus, Wheyme, Myself, Asapant, vestment all study in Ontario. There is a woman on this forum whose husband attends my school (moniker witheld). There are about 5 other people on this forum in my school (I cant remember their moniker). Lonelydude, graduated from University of Western Ontario last year and he has a fantastic job with a very good pay. We keep in touch on a regular.
Sleeky is in Newfoundland, Bracha I think is in Brandon. There are a couple of other Nairalanders spread across different provinces all studying. All these people are Nairaland members I got to know on this forum. They moved to Canada from Nigeria and they are studying. I specifically mentioned Nairalanders so you know I am not telling you stories out of the blues. Did all these people use fake documents?
Do you need me to tell you other people outside this forum who I know personally and they all moved from Nigeria to Canada and are still studying, some graduated, some are working and doing well in Canada?
Because you all hear 2 or 3 students moved to Canada and did not go to school, bloggers post it and you all assume that is the norm with most Nigerian students.
5 Nigerians are doing yahoo, drugs, crime in Toronto. It makes headlines. What about the thousands of Nigerians doing exceptionally well? Do you use the same energy to celebrate Nigerians, definitely in the majority, that are doing well in Canada?
The sad fact is negative news spread so fast and then people assume that is the norm. We don't celebrate Nigerians who are in school doing well. We are too focused speaking about the few people spoiling the country.
3. Nigerians struggle to get their fees paid when they are in Canada
I can tell you for a fact that at least 80% of Nigerians that come into Canada go to school, pay their fees and complete their education. They may struggle, there may be challenges but they get the fees paid. Which International student does not struggle to pay their fees?
I have paid a total of 33,000Cad, is that beans? My parents are not politicians, government workers or contractors. Indians struggle to pay their fees as well. Almost all nationals struggle. kini big deal. We struggle but we get it paid.
IRCC only asked to show money for 1 year and by the way, who just leaves 33,000Cad in their account doing nothing?
4. Nigerians are not honest.
We have dishonest people everywhere in the world. I mean no disrespect, If you have dishonest people as friends, please change your circle of friends. Dishonesty has nothing to do with Tribe, nationality or race. It is all about the person and his/her principles.
I hope you have a good one. Correct , let me score you 20/20 lol, Even sef, some even move to canada with fake documents, is just luck and God, All we are asking ,is for these VOs To be fair and also go through our documents properly ,,,,we paid them for the process |

MisterSpark: Hello Chukwuemeka, having made a deposit of N100k(Cad$350/400) does this mean you don’t have to pay tuition fee from here in Nigeria? Nope, you dont, not until you get your visa,... You can only do your registration for classes when you have your visa, then you can talk of paying your tuition fee from here or there... Is optional... If you can pay here, fine, if you can pay there good, but the 100k you paid is also part of your tuition fee....E.g if your tuition fee is 400k and you accepted the admission with 100k.....that means you have to balance up 300k when you start up class ... |

culkid: Your view is something else! My study permit was approved on the 17th of March for Fall 2020. My husband also applied for his Open Work Permit in a joint application and was approved too. One time. Never applied before and we got it in one try.
I have not had a bad experience with IRCC but I’ll still say that they have not been transparent enough with the study permit process. I have read enough experiences to come to this conclusion. None of the visa processes is transparent for Africans. Every year we are denied for reasons that don’t make sense. People are told they don’t have sufficient funds even when they’ve shown evidence they do. Some are denied for not having home ties even when leaving a husband and children behind. If we’re going to be denied, we need more than a generic reason.
Visa applications are a racket in case you don’t know. Visa fees are a significant portion of revenue for consulates and embassies around the world. About 81% of applications from Nigeria are denied! You can’t tell me it’s unfair for people to be upset and bitter.
Here’s a link for more clarity. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/qz.com/africa/1708714/canada-rejects-most-african-student-visa-applicants/amp/ Tell him ooooo, the truth is bitter.... The truth remains whites can't just say Africans should stay out of their country , and secondly they make money from us..... We trying to leave our country is not that we dont like it, but because our politicians has buried the country, we search for a better country to make ends meat ....... How can you deny someone based on family ties in home country ? Before you denied him, you should ask , was he applying with Canada passport or Nigeria.... I believe passport remains the only international identity of one from a particular country ... There is no how one will not return ...either to see his people or to be buried ....what do the VOs mean sef |

Frankrobbn1: I didn't mean if you apply for Visa with an undergraduate acceptance letter from University of Regina, you will be automatically approved. No one can guarantee you the success of your application.
If you have done the right thing and covered every loopholes that might raise the visa officer's eye brows during the ELIGIBILITY review at the visa processing centre. Your chances are better with the University.
I admire your tenacity and resilience towards achieving your Canadian dreams. Keep it up.
It will end in praise. Thanks boss I understand... Like I said before is a two way something..... Either approval or rejection, We pray for the best and prepare for the worst ....lol God day |
