This was the same budget that various people lauded as the best in decades, simply because 79% of the revenue generation was said to come from Non-oil sources. If so, how can the bulk of our problems with revenue generation be as a result of NDA actions when 79% is supposed to come from Non-oil sources?
We can now see why this govt isn't to be trusted. They say things that are not feasible just to Hoodwink gullible fellows that they are working.

I am persuaded to agree with you. I think the major problem is Africans practice Christianity without applying wisdom. In fact, personal wisdom is foolishness to them.

In Matthew 10:22 the bible advised Christians to flee from any area where they are attacked or not received.

But no! An African will enter the battlefield where bullets are visibly flying. When the person dies, they will start saying it is the will of God and that they are happy the person has gone to heaven.

The other day, some people got themselves heavily drunk knowing that they will drive. Eventually the inevitable happened and all of them died in a ghastly head-on collision. Some people still said God knows why He allowed it to happen.

I think sometimes we blame or accuse God wrongEly because He can't be the author of evil.
Exactly bro! I'v come to understand that in Death which is a mystery. Most people will term it Gods time but when it comes to riches & poverty, the tide changes. Nobody says its Gods time but hardwork.
This debate is one which is very old & yet unsolved by philosophers, religious scholars, scientist & psychologist. This discussion centres on this topic "Is the human life predetermined or is it run by choice"

Most of the comments shows that most nairalanders don't know anything but will quick to comment to sound intelligent. They don't even know what each credit rating mean. Just because they read "DOWNGRADE" all hell let loose.
****************************************FYI, here's what FITCH mean with the ratings
BBB - means good credit quality
B - Highly speculative but with some level of safety
So if first bank was downgraded to BBB & UBA to B, now you know what it means rather than comment un intelligently.
Plus these are ratings on a LONG TERM Foreign currency default. LONG TERM it says ooooo not short term, haba NLDERS una no dey read ni.
UBA has the best risk management now with NPL of 1.8%. So I don't see why people should castigate them.

last Month i contacted the same Fabricator guy for similar 6 no 3 bedroom last price he gave me was 2.250..remember the same site same everything same design..

But i av T.B dat is paid me 9% or 10% per annum ,but within that 1yr the price of fabricating casement window has increased by 30-40% . I still havent done it and am regretting how i wish i NEVER bought T.B.

Now this is not only me.Ask people how price has gone up on everything at the market.almost 30-40 % high just within 6month.

Your T.B is only better against Savings acct.

This is Reality. Not reading nairaland and think it easy.

I will like to add few rules
1) Your trouser should have little or no breaks. It shows your sense of style
***************************************
2) Never wear a back pack on a suit, it just spoils the whole package. Get a good leather bag
***************************************
3) Invest in quality shoes, don't always wear black shoes. Get other colours too. Don't be boring
****************************************
4) Pls do away with square shoe (loafers) if wearing suit. Invest in pointed shoes like this below, its called a brogue. A woman Notices the shoe first in a mans appearance.

No assurance it will be 15% that's why I shouted BLOOD MONEY! Because this is a rate that is massive last time tbills was this high was like 2012 or so going by the records.
And please stop lying to score cheap points. A 364 tbills has never gone below 10%. 3months ago here was the discount rate ;
April 20, 2016
91 Days.....7.8%
182 days......8.9%
365 days.....10.2%

An Investment is promising you 17% annually & you are complaining of the inflation rate of 14%, will you not take the advantage rather than keep the money in your bank? Don't make it harder than it seem.
Many people have loads of cash lying in the bank even though they have business that's doing well.
For the fact that inflation rate is rising, I foresee an even higher rate to entice investors. If T bills hit 20% discount rate for 364days, don't key in then. You can as well keep the money under your pillow

Have also heard the main reason why most banks are laying off staff is simply because of STA policy, before now, they get easy money (apart from d extra reap-off charges) from Government agencies n other to invest in Treasury bills n bond and at the year end they declare billions as profits......that should tell us something, Tbills is cool......but time value of money in regards to inflation is not cool in d long run.
With regards to inflation, real estate is always seen as the best hedge. Because you can always increase your rental fee as things get more expensive but how many people have the cash to build & rent. T bills is also good & even better when you re-invest your interest (compound interest). Which is what I was pointing out. If one will only buy A plot of land & leave it undeveloped so he can use it to hedge against inflation, one who has been re investing his t bills yearly (compound) will catch up & overtake him overtime. Most people don't know the power of compound interest which is my main point

Finally u seems very smart..Why not go put ur 20M on T.B then start dreaming how to buy a range rover because you just did blood money .

Real Interest Rate'
The real interest rate is the growth rate of purchasing power derived from an investment. By adjusting the nominal interest rate to compensate for inflation, you are keeping the purchasing power of a given level of capital constant over time.

For example, if you are earning 4% interest per year on the savings in your bank account, and inflation is currently 3% per year, then the real interest rate you are receiving is 1% (4% - 3% = 1%). The real value of your savings will only increase by 1% per year, when purchasing power is taken into consideration.

Another one

Real Interest Rate = Nominal Rate – Inflation Rate

It’s important that the real interest rate be positive so that a lender or investor knows he’s beating inflation. If the real interest rate is less than zero, then the rate being charged on a loan or paid on a savings account is not beating inflation. The lender or saver would be losing money from a purchasing power perspective.

For instance, Fred has $1,000 and wants to buy a refrigerator that costs that exact amount, but he doesn’t need the refrigerator until next year. So Fred places the $1,000 with his bank in a one-year certificate of deposit paying 5% interest. This 5% is the nominal rate. If inflation is 6% then, using Fisher’s formula, the real rate of interest on the CD is negative 1%.

At the end of the CD’s term, Fred receives $1,000 plus $50 interest. But because of the 6% inflation the price of the refrigerator is now $1,060. Fred’s $1,050 is now not enough to buy the refrigerator. From a purchasing power perspective, Fred actually lost money over the one-year term

@Chukzyfcb As i said earlier Innitial gra gra...Local Champion.
Inflation rate is 14% likely to 15% of which the projection may average 13-14% for the year......T bills "true yield" for the 364days is 17%.
If I invest the interest for the next coming years at the same rate, my Interest rate will also push higher. Mr Tri tri how am I losing money when I'm still afloat?
Do you just want to talk or what?

You are not smart now! With bonds you lose out on compound interest. T bills allows you to be flexible & cash in on increasing rate. With Bonds, rule out the possibility of benefiting from a compound interest....I'v compared a 5yr plot of land to a 5yr tbills & you don run hehehe.......yeye dey smell

I want to let you know that. If you invest 20million Annually in tbills of discount rate of 15% for 5yrs. Your 20million will turn to 45million naira.....same time if you buy a Plot of land for 20million today, in 5yrs U CANNOT sell that same piece of land for 45million. Its almst impossible. I agree that they will have more naira conversion...this should provide more naira cash flow to meet wages and other naira liabilities. My argument lies in the foreign denomination debt on government books. The northward trajectory of this debt has been a source of concerns even before devaluation. It's like we just compound our problems with devaluation.
I still maintain my stance bro. The upward trajectory of our debt has been because of reduced revenue. Oil price reduced by 50% so funding budget will be tough, that's why people suppprted devaluation. In devaluation govt can make up for the loss of revenue from Oil price. Currently 1barrel of Oil trades for $49 & we export bout 1.9-2.3million barrels per day whereas the 2016 Budget projections say we need 2.2million barrels & a price of $38 per barrel. So as you can see we are even doing better than the projections, with the profit from devaluation it means we should even meet the demands. Don't forget our GDP-Debt ratio according to kemi adeosun is among the lowest in the world, so it gives them more leverage to borrow more

What of FGN servicing external debts in dollarshuh??
Devaluation according to my own knowledge has little or nothing to do with external debts. External debts has close ties with government export earnings, which in our case is OIL. The only way Govt will find it hard in servicing external debts is if its foreign exchange earning decreases (Ie decrease in Oil prodduction which is our major commodity for forex) so once again bro, devaluation has lil or nothing to do with paying external debts

Nigeria sold a total of 190 billion naira ($673.76 million) in treasury bills on Friday with maturities ranging from three months to one year, with yields broadly flat, fixed income dealers said.

The central bank sold 28 billion naira of the 3-month treasury bills at 9.98 percent compared with 9.99 percent at the June 22 auction and 42 billion naira worth of the 6-month bill at 12.24 percent against 12.30 percent previously.

The bank sold 120 billion naira worth of the one-year paper at 14.99 percent, the same rate as at the last auction.

Africa’s biggest economy issues treasury bills as part of measures to finance the government budget deficit and also to help manage liquidity in the banking system. ($1 = 282 naira).

I hope those people clamoring for devaluation are happy. They've helped increased the complexity within and created more problems for our financial system. Because of the devaluation, banks will witness more problems because of their exposure to and servicing foreign loans. Government will have similar challenges, servicing foreign debt. Inflation and interest rate will continue to trend higher. How do you build a manufacturing economy when interest rate and inflation are above 15%. How do you grow the economy in the wake of all these crisis. I don't know if I should blame the federal government or blame CBN governor for incompetence.

I am yet to see the positive impact of devaluation on our economy. We are still losing more jobs than we are creating. The stock market is still loosing money.

I hope these speculators (bastards) are happy...
not true bro regarding Government....Government are the biggest gainers when it comes to devaluation. This was why I often told people that if Buhari refused to devalue the naira , he shouldn't be criticised because his govt would benefit much from it. So he refusing it means starving his govt of possible wealth.
Govt still export oil which can be used to servive debt plus selling 1 barrel of oil means extra money when brought back to nigeria because the dollar exchange rate is higher. Investors wanting to leave 9ja will need to part with more naira, gifting the govt more money. Mehn the advantage for them is humongous. I dnt see why you say govt will find it hard, they are the biggest gainers in the devaluation game
