According to the second version the state was named for Baushe, a famous hunter who settled there before the 19th century while the third states that ‘bauchi’ is Hausa word for slavery since it was a center for slave raiders.

Crime › Man Stabs Twin Brother To Death In Shomolu Lagos by Chumani(op): 1:51pm On May 28, 2016 |
A 27-year-old man, Mfom John, has stabbed his twin brother, Israel John, to death on Olorunkemi Street in the Somolu area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Mfom stabbed the victim more than 70 times in different parts of the body on Monday.
Although no one could state the immediate cause of the incident, relatives and residents told our correspondent that the suspect had always threatened to kill Israel whenever they had disagreements. He was said to have carried out the threat around 6am while the victim slept and a third occupant of the room, Christopher, was in the kitchen.
The Akwa Ibom State, indigene reportedly stabbed his brother in the neck, head, armpit and stomach till he died. He was said to have fled to Ogunbadejo, a neighbouring street, to report to an uncle that his brother had sustained seriousinjuries during a fight.
Our correspondent gathered that he followed the uncle and his wife to the house around 7am, as a team of policemen from the Pedro division, were removing the corpse.
Christopher, who was being interrogated at that moment, reportedly pointed out the culprit to the police, leading to his arrest.
A neighbour, Bidemi, told PUNCH Metro that the two brothers had danced together on Sunday night after they bought a generator.
He said, “The room where they stayed was formerly occupied by their elder brother, and he passed it on to his sister. The sister, after living there for some years, passed it to them.
“The two brothers were working in a restaurant owned by their brother in the Abiodun area. While Mfom cooked the food, Israel washed the plates.
“On Sunday when they returned from work, they had a party to celebrate a new generator they bought. Around 6am on Monday, while Israel was sleeping, Mfom got a knife and stabbed him all over the body. At a particular spot, he stabbed him more than 15 times. There were more than 70 stab wounds on him.”
A relative, who did not identify herself, said after killing his brother, the suspect went to his uncle’s house, where she also stays, to report the incident. She explained that Mfom was panicky, as he tried not to indict himself, adding that she thought it was their usual fight.
We asked him what happened, he just said there was a fight in the house and his brother had been injured. As we approached the house, we saw two police vans. The policemen brought out a body that was covered with wrapper.
That was when Christopher told the police that it was Mfom who killed his brother. The police then arrested him,” she said.
Christopher reportedly claimed he was roasting groundnut in the kitchen when Mfom killed his brother. He said he never knew what happened until he went into the room and saw Israel in a pool of blood.
But residents said Christopher might know more about the death because the suspect had told him he would ensure his brother did not go to work that morning.
Our correspondent, during a visit to the apartment, saw fresh blood in different parts of the room. The kitchen, where Christopher was said to be preparing the groundnut, was less than10 feet away from the single-room apartment.
A co-worker, who did not identify himself, said the two brothers had different personalities. While he described Mfom as overbearing, he said Israel was quiet and always at the receiving end of his brother’s cruelty.
The elder brother of the men, however, said the duo had been a thorn in his flesh. He said he brought them from the village to Lagos so his mother could have peace of mind.
He said, “I planned to set up businesses for them. But since I brought them from the village, it has been from one trouble to another.I have never had rest. I never knew this would happen. I don’t know how I will inform my mother in the village now.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that the corpse of the victim had been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital morgue, while the suspect had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
She said, “The suspect stabbed the victim to death while sleeping at about 6.30am on Olorunkemi Street, Bariga. The case has been transferred to the SDCI.” www.punchng.com/man-stabs-twin-brother-death-sleeping/ |

Family › 5 Major Reasons Why Women Suffer Domestic Violence by Chumani(op): 6:52pm On May 18, 2016*. Modified: 11:02am On May 27, 2016 |
Domestic violence has become a viral issue in the society now with many women starting to speak up on the abuse they have suffered while with their husbands and in their matrimonial homes.
Many women have lost their lives to this domestic violence while many has suffered bouts of pains and emotional trauma as a result of the constant battering they receive from their spouses.
While the men who beat their wives have been called demons and beasts as a result of their actions, it would be wise for us to carefully examine this issue and put the blames where they ought to.
The society should stop painting the men as the bad one, while they have been called beasts, it would also do us good to consider the role of the women who made the men turn them into animals with their constant battering and beatings.
Please do not take it the wrong way, domestic violence is bad and no woman should have to go through it. It is a terrible experience that may have an everlasting impact on a woman’s mental health.
Find below some of the reasons why women are considered to be a major cause of domestic violence: 1. Nonchalant Attitude
Most women who suffer domestic violence must have somehow seen the signs while they were dating their husbands. But many women prefer to live under the illusion that the men would change or they are probably madly in love with them. Love is not aggressive, it is kind. Love would not hit you hard and make you lose your mind.
Some women have been hit by their partners during courtship, yet they make up excuses for them and still walk down the aisle. A man who beats you before marriage could kill you as soon as you become his wife.
2. Thirst For Materialism
Some women do not want to live within the means of their husbands and end up bruising the men’s ego. They are too sophisticated for the men they are married too and confront the men with this point.
Some women make their husbands feel worthless while shun theirs openly. Attitudes like these could frustrate anyone and bring out the beasts in them.
3. Infidelity
It is not appropriate for anyone to cheat within the clause of marriage; the society promotes men as philanderers who cannot be checked as a result of their sex. This could hurt a woman and also push her to explore that option too.
If you are tired of that union, find your way out peacefully. But do not ever mock your husbands by flaunting your extramarital affairs in their faces.
Those that tried it are six feet under the ground, and those who lived to tell their own tales are not healthy now.
4. Unchecked Utterances Women are known to be loud most times with many nagging every little chance they have. Certain words spoken by women also infuriate the men and could make them go beyond their limits.
The tongue is a sharp sword; some use their tongues to bring down their husbands and make them depressed. Do not use yours to destroy your home. Although this is not a justification on the men’s part, it would be wise for the women to steer clear of things that may birth trouble in that marriage.
5. Failure To Leave An Abusive Marriage We understand that most of the women in our society are good mothers ‘’, we implore you to stop using your children as an excuse to put up with domestic violence and abuses in your marriage.
These children would grow up and become what God wants them to be. If you die during a fatal domestic violence, these kids’ lives continue. Women find different excuses to stay in abusive relationships. Some profess their love for the men who beat them and think they cannot do without them.
Some simply enjoy the doses of affection that come after a violent attack from their husbands. Marriage is not a do or die affair. Any union that would steal your peace and cut short your life span is not worth fighting for. http://www.onigeria.com/news/94778.html |

A LETTER FROM AN ABORTED CHILD
Dear Mum, I have decided to talk to you to let you know my feelings. I want to know why you did it. My story is short. I stayed inside you for only a couple of weeks. I was very comfortable and warm. I felt really protected. I knew you were a special person because you never stopped me from eating the food you ate. I longed for the day I would see your face. Nine months was a long time to wait, but I was determined to wait. I had to be patient.
A man then offered you some amount of money to get rid of me. I was happy and prayed that this meant that I would at least see you, the only person that I knew in the world. I was wrong. I had almost forgotten the issues until I felt something sharp pierce my tiny ear. I jerked silently and in pain, and asked you to protect me. Seconds later the object came, fiercer than before. My tiny body was cut up, starting from the ears then arms and legs. It was an agonizing experience. My head was then cut off and I died.
It took me a whole hour to die. A whole hour for an innocent few weeks human being to be murdered by you! I remember the whole incident vividly and I keep asking myself what I did to deserve that cruel death. Why me? Why did you do that to me? And why was I not given a chance to live just like they children you hear playing around? How do you feel when you send some of them on errands when I could have done that with pride if you had given me the chance to live? Don't you see the beauty in playing with a child that calls you mom with a sweet soft voice?
I know you are having a lot of nightmares. You remain guilty for the beastly act. Please explain to God why you committed the heinous act. He sent me to you as a very special gift. My purpose was to make you proud by being the great person God meant me to be. I have forgiven you though I never lived to see your face. My journey back to my creator was safe, and I arrived safely. I was given a red-carpet welcome by an angel. I am in fact without bitterness. I still love you, mum.
Yours Never-seen child.
