wideawaken01: Some members of Nigeria’s billionaires’ club have met with President Muhammadu Buhari as billionaire philanthropist and Chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa (UBA), Tony Elumelu, has promised to invest $2.5 billion in the power sector to boost electricity in Nigeria.
Others who also met with the President in the company of Elumelu are Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote; Chairman of Forte Oil, Femi Otedola; billionaire businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija and billionaire founder of Zenith Bank Plc, Jim Ovia.
https://www.independent.ng/photo-dangote-otedola-olakija-ovia-meet-buhari-as-elumelu-invests-2-5m-in-power/ Mr Elumelu, please go with your money because we want NEPA/PHCN back not your stealing discos, collecting from the poor to enrich yourself with fictitious bills over darkness. Buhari, don't believe him and don't accept his money because he still wants to further impoverish the poor with darkness. He has failed, collecting money for no service. Nothing works because he has held on to light. Stealing from the poor personal riches. Rich man indeed. |

unclesuruoffi: Nigeria's Presidency has revealed that contrary to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to sign the N30,000 minimum wage bill. This disclosure is coming after the Senate concurred the earlier decision of the House of Representatives, which passed the bill before the National Assembly shut down its operations to enable lawmakers to participate in the 2019 general elections, beginning from February 16.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang who spoke on behalf of the Presidency disclosed that Buhari is yet to sign the N30,000 minimum wage bill and according to him, signing of bills was not done in secrecy. Though he confirmed that the bill which captured N30,000 as the new national minimum wage had been transmitted to Buhari by the National Assembly, he however stated that the President is yet to sign the bill on the grounds that there were operational procedures to be followed.
He told Punch “The bill has been transmitted to Mr President; that I can confirm. Right now, the bill is undergoing standard presidential, operational procedures in respect of bills. We are within time. At the appropriate time, Mr President will take a decision and make it public. Therefore, the report that Mr President has already signed the bill is not correct.”

Celebrities › Re: We Need To Fight For Our Rights – Omotola by CioAngels(f): 7:59pm On Apr 06, 2019 |
chidima2019: Nollywood star, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde complained about the level of danger and insecurity in the country and has appealed to the government to a declare state of emergency in places which are affected.
She also said she believes Nigeria needs some kind of ‘revolution’ to get better.
In an online question and answering section with her fans on twitter on Friday.
Omotola said, “I am appealing to the government to immediately see to the rising rate of depression, suicide, police brutality, ritual killings and general lack of safety in the Country. It’s at an all-time high now, there should be a state of emergency declared.”
Asked why she did not openly support any presidential candidate in the last election, the actress said that she doesn’t think her support for any candidate could have made any difference in the presidential election.
Speaking further, she said “Excuses won’t move us forward. We must be angry enough and divert our anger towards looking for real change. We need to know the use of political offices, ask questions and engage the leaders.
“I hope soon we birth a Jerry Rawlins or something of that kind. We do need a revolution. Nigeria is too big and important for it to implode. However, there are still honest people. Don’t be discouraged.”
The actress also advised people on how to choose a life partner, speaking she said “A lot lies on your choice of a spouse. Are they understanding, mature minded and supportive? Your spouse needs to be your career partner, knowing it’s both of you against the world. If not, it’s a rocky ride ahead. However, don’t compromise your career, it’s your sanity.”

Politics › Re: MURIC Expresses Disappointment Over Fayemi’s Commissioners List by CioAngels(f): 7:38am On Apr 06, 2019 |
phranklean: The governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, sent his list of commissioners to the State assembly on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019. The list contained fourteen (14) names. The governor also added another five (5) names for the nomination of the chairman and members of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (EKSLGSC).
Meanwhile the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described the list as most disappointing. The Islamic human rights organization reacted in a press statement signed by its Founder and Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Thursday, 4th April, 2019.
“This list is heavily lopsided. Fayemi is ill-advised. He has grossly shortchanged Muslims. How can he give us only one commissioner out of fourteen? What parameter did he use? This is most disappointing. Fayemi has blindfolded Muslims in Ekiti state. Muslims are not part of his government. Ekiti State executive is not truly representative. It is undemocratic. It is a sham. The disappointment is even more painful because Governor Fayemi had been touted as a very liberal Christian. But see what he has done to us.
“Even in Ondo state where the percentage of Muslims is lower, they were given four commissioners. That is what Governor Akeredolu did for Muslims in Ondo. He gave them four out of fourteen and that is why the Muslims are not making any noise there. Justice is the soul of peace.
“With Dr. Wahab Adegbenro in the Ministry of Health, Rashid Badmus in Natural Resources, Alhaji Imam Olurimisi in Culture and Tourism and Taofiq Abdul Salaam in Works, Ondo Muslims look at the Muslim commissioners and say, ‘We are well-represented’.
“But see what Fayemi has done to us. Only Alhaji Ayodele Jinadu is a Muslim out of his fourteen commissioners. We reject this in Allah’s Mighty Name. It could have been different if the Muslims had not said anything earlier but they did. They asked for proportionate representation but this is what Fayemi gave them: an empty pot of porridge. Ekiti Muslims do not deserve this humiliation. It is a betrayal in view of the undiluted support they gave Fayemi during the elections.
“If this is a snub, there is always another day. If it is an act of impunity, we all know that power is transient and even the high and mighty will need the poor and weak somewhere along the line. We are used to powerless conscience subjugating conscienceless power. What we are not used to is powerless conscience getting away with it. We will remember this if Fayemi seeks higher office in future. Our message is not for Ekiti alone. Nor is it for the South West. Only the deep can call to the deep. It is a wakeup call to Muslims to restrategize and they will do just that.
“Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade is the only Muslim member on the list of EKSLGSC. Alhaja Ogunlade was once the Ameerah (chairperson) of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Ekiti State. She deserves the position.
“But while we may not object to the EKSLGSC list, we keenly await the list of members and chairmen of other boards and agencies. We are interested in knowing how many of them will be chaired by Muslims. There should be no pretensions about it. Muslims have been marginalized in the appointments made so far by Fayemi. They therefore deserve lofty positions in remaining appointments.
“Fayemi is a Christian, he picked a Christian as deputy governor, a Christian as Chief of Staff, a Christian as Secretary to the State Government, 13 Christians out of 14 commisioners have now been nominated. The body language is very clear. Muslims do not matter to him. Fayemi has wittingly excommunicated participatory democracy from Ekiti State.
“MURIC charges Muslims in Ekiti State to tighten their seat belts. The struggle ahead is not only political but intellectual. They must go into politics in large number and with diversification. Enough is enough. Their continuous marginalization already speaks volumes.
“On a last note, we express the deep disappointment felt by Muslims, not only in Ekiti State but also in the South West and in Nigeria as a whole over Fayemi’s lopsided list. A thick air of betrayal has enveloped Islamdom. We urge Muslims in the state to restrategize. As for Governor Fayemi, we caution him against marring his hitherto good records in Christian-Muslim relations. His latest lopsided list is a potent threat to participatory democracy. He may still have a slim chance to redress the injustice”.
Source: http://newnigeriannewspaper.com/muric-expresses-disappointment-over-fayemis-ministerial-list/ When Ondo gave four you complained, because Ekiti knows you will complain again if She decides to give four or more, now gave one because you are never pleased with anything done by none Muslims. LORDofODDS: Doris Esa
(Nan)The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has warned that flogging and physically assaulting disarmed suspected bandits were totally unacceptable.
Such action meted on disarmed bandits it said was not in consonance with the Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) guiding the conduct of the operation.
NAF’s spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, described as “totally unacceptable’’, the reported flogging and physical assault of suspected bandits by some Military personnel in Zamfara.
Daramola said in a statement in Abuja that, “the attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to a video and some pictures circulating on some social media and online platforms showing some military personnel flogging suspected armed bandits at Shinkafi Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State’’.
” The NAF has discovered that some of its personnel were part of the joint team stationed at the Galadi Sub-Sector at the time.
” Our personnel have always been directed to respect the rights of innocent civilians as well as captured combatants, no matter the provocation.
” The joint team had, sequel to intelligence reports, intercepted a group of suspected armed bandits, including some fighters from across the border, at their Sububu Forest hideout whilst they were on the verge of executing an attack against innocent civilians in Shinkafi.
” In the process, the team recovered one AK-47 rifle along with 3 loaded magazines and 3 dane guns from the bandits.
” In an effort to obtain further information on the criminals’ plans and the location of their armoury, the troops employed unauthorized, crude corporal methods,” he said Daramola said the NAF has zero tolerance for such human rights violations, adding it has since initiated appropriate action to address the anomaly.
” The public is to please note that the NAF has zero tolerance for such human rights violations and has since initiated appropriate action to address the anomaly.
” In this regard, a Board of Inquiry (BOI) has been set up by the Headquarters Special Operations Command (HQ SOC) to determine the remote and immediate causes of the incident with a view to ensuring that appropriate disciplinary action is taken against all NAF personnel found culpable.”
The spokesman said the public would be kept informed on the outcome of the investigations.
He said: “The NAF, as an organisation, remains a professional fighting force that would continue to operate within the ambit of all relevant laws and procedures.’’
Daramola said the NAF would also continue to operate in line with international best practices, whilst remaining fully accountable to the Nigerian people. (NAN)

ManirBK: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr Micheal Anthony Obizi has described Kano rerun election as peaceful.
Obizi, who was deployed to Kano for the purpose of the rerun poll said the election recorded minor violence. He explained that the reports on various social media platforms were purported by some elements in order to cause chaos in the state.
“We have arrested only 10 people for various election offenses and they will be charged to court as soon as we finish investigation. So, as far as police is concerned the election is peaceful,” he said.
He said there was no report of death from the affected 24 local governments where the rerun election was held.
On the alleged taking over of some polling units by thugs, Obizi said, “If it is true some thugs have taken over some polling units, how can the INEC find its way to bring election materials and officials to the polling units?”
The DIG assured that police would maintain its ground in protecting lives and property of the Nigerian citizens. He said there was no cause for alarm as far as security was concerned, saying everything was going smoothly.
