A Swiss forensic team has found that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was poisoned to death in 2004 with radioactive polonium. A team of experts, including from Lausanne University Hospital's Institute of Radiation Physics, opened Arafat's grave in the West Bank city of Ramallah last November, and took samples from his body to seek evidence of alleged poisoning. According to Qatar-based Al-Jazeera, the Swiss team discovered levels of polonium at least 18 times higher than normal in Arafat's ribs, pelvis and in the soil that absorbed his remains. "We are revealing a real crime, a political assassination," Arafat's widow, Suha Arafat, told Reuters in Paris. "This has confirmed all our doubts," said Suha Arafat, who met members of the Swiss forensic team in Geneva on Tuesday. "It is scientifically proved that he didn't die a natural death and we have scientific proof that this man was killed." She did not accuse any country or person, and acknowledged that the historic leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization had many enemies. http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-assassination-of-yasser-arafat-had-been-ordered-by-the-israeli-cabinet/31781 What recent news reports fail to mention is that the extra-judicial assassination had been ordered by the Israeli cabinet in 2003. It was subsequently approved by the US which vetoed a United Nations Security Resolution condemning the 2003 Israeli Cabinet decision to “get rid of Arafat”. ”We will choose the right way and the right time to kill Arafat.” (See Michel Chossudovsky, The Invasion of Gaza: “Operation Cast Lead”, Part of a Broader Israeli Military-Intelligence Agenda, Global Research, November 2009) The assassination of Yasser Arafat had been on the drawing board since 1996 under “Operation Fields of Thorns”. According to an October 2000 document “prepared by the security services, at the request of then Prime Minister Ehud Barak, stated that ‘Arafat, the person, is a severe threat to the security of the state [of Israel] and the damage which will result from his disappearance is less than the damage caused by his existence’”. (Tanya Reinhart, Evil Unleashed, Israel’s move to destroy the Palestinian Authority is a calculated plan, long in the making, Global Research, December 2001. Details of the document were published in Ma’ariv, July 6, 2001.). |
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/palestinianauthority/10430928/Tests-show-Yasser-Arafat-was-poisoned-with-polonium-widow-says.html Yasser Arafat, the late Palestinian leader, may well have been poisoned with radioactive polonium, Swiss scientists have concluded in findings that may solve a 10-year riddle but torpedo the latest Middle East peace process. His remains contained unusually high levels of polonium-210, a substance experts say can usually only be obtained from governments, months of forensic tests have shown. The conclusions are likely to reawaken allegations that the late guerrilla leader - long a totemic symbol of the Palestinian national cause, was murdered, possibly by Israel which considered him a terrorist. |

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was poisoned to death in 2004 with radioactive polonium, his widow Suha said on Wednesday after receiving the results of Swiss forensic tests on her husband's corpse. "We are revealing a real crime, a political assassination," she told Reuters in Paris. A team of experts, including from Lausanne University Hospital's Institute of Radiation Physics, opened Arafat's grave in the West Bank city of Ramallah last November, and took samples from his body to seek evidence of alleged poisoning. Arafat signed the 1993 Oslo interim peace accords with Israel and led a subsequent uprising after the failure of talks in 2000 on a comprehensive agreement. Allegations of foul play surfaced immediately. Arafat had foes among his own people, but many Palestinians pointed the finger at Israel, which had besieged him in his Ramallah headquarters for the final two and a half years of his life. The Israeli government has denied any role in his death, noting that he was 75 years old and had an unhealthy lifestyle. An investigation by the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television news channel first reported last year that traces of polonium-210 were found on personal effects of Arafat given to his widow by the French military hospital where he died. That led French prosecutors to open an investigation for suspected murder in August 2012 at the request of Suha Arafat. Forensic experts from Switzerland, Russia and France all took samples from his corpse for testing after the Palestinian Authority agreed to open his mausoleum. |
We need a proactive government |
You are insane. I almost died coming to Lagos from Abuja on that airline. People like you are why this country cannot move forward - bunch of mediocre a to whom anything goes. Money will not kill you |
This kind of money can end global hunger however Empire building requires having the strongest military machine in the World. America will probably dominate the entire 21st century like they dominated the 20th. Pax Americana!!! |
May the FG become serious in diversifying our revenue base as the population is more than enough to sustain growth even without Oil. That is why we were doing so well in the 1960's |
By Andrea Shalal-Esa WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy on Tuesday pledged to cut costs for building new aircraft carriers, as it prepared to christen the USS Gerald R. Ford, first in its class of warships and a vessel whose $12.9 billion cost will exceed forecasts by almost 25 percent. Rear Admiral Thomas Moore, Navy officer in charge of aircraft carriers, pledged that the next carrier, the USS John F. Kennedy, would cost $1.2 billion less than the USS Ford, which will be christened on Saturday. The Ford features a new nuclear power plant, a redesigned island, electromagnetic catapults, new weapons and storage elevators, and an enhanced flight deck. It has 10 million feet of electrical cabling on board, compared to 3 million on the predecessor ship, as well as 4 million feet of fiber optic cable, Moore said, noting sailors would also be able to watch television on board and receive regular emails. The ship will produce 500,0000 gallons of fresh water a day, 100,000 more than earlier Nimitz-class carriers, Moore said. He said this would allow sailors to take "Hollywood showers," keeping water running while they bathe, instead of Spartan "Navy showers". |
We need to plug our infrastructural deficit put at $350 Billion Dollars before the squandering of our petrodollars come to an abrupt end. |
Toyota has unveiled the concept that will become the fuel-cell vehicle that it puts on sale in 2015.
|
http://www.usatoday.com/story/driveon/2013/11/05/toyota-fuel-cell/3440245/ The four-seat FCV Concept, being unveiled for the Tokyo Motor Show this week, has a driving range of at least 500 km and can be refueled in as fast as three minutes. As for the looks, they are meant to look like "a catamaran and evoke flowing water." Probably appropriate: hydrogen vehicles emit only water vapor. I hope we have plans in a post crude oil world. With the US now the largest producer of Crude Oil with massive shale deposits in Australia to feed the Asian Markets and Hydrogen and Electric cars to drastically cut Crude consumption, we are moving back rapidly to $40-50 crude or less. NOI is shaking for us but she cannot fully explain to the Nigerian Public the dire straits we are in!! |

We have to start diversifying and building critical infrastructure with what is left from the high oil sales as this party will not last forever. What if the Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S electric cars go into mass production? How will we feed 160 million people? |
Oct 31 (Reuters) - The U-S.-led shale boom will have a lasting impact on global energy prices and push crude oil prices down to $80 a barrel, according to an analysis by Germany's BND intelligence agency obtained by Reuters on Thursday. The BND said the U.S. shale boom would have a greater impact on global markets than it predicted in a previous analysis earlier this year. "The effects from the unconventional production of oil and natural gas in the United States will be pronounced over the next 10 to 20 years," the report said. It added that it now expects global oil prices to sink substantially, which will cause considerable problems for gas and oil producers such as Russia and Libya and trigger changes in the Middle East. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2477728/Former-religious-skeptic-believes-talked-God-9-minutes-dead.html In December 2009, McVea was taken to the hospital to be treated for pancreatitis when she was accidentally overdosed on pain medication. The last thing McVea remembers is being given the drugs and falling asleep. For the next nine minutes, doctors struggled to revive her as her heart stopped beating. McVea says she was in a more peaceful place. After closing her eyes in the hospital, the next thing she remembers is waking up in heaven. 'I was standing in the most gorgeous light and instantly I recognized where I was. I knew who I was, I knew where I was...' she recalls. In heaven, time seemed to stand still. She recalls being in the presence of two angels - though they didn't look like anyone she had ever met on earth. Are Nigerians daft? Dino is obviously broke and looking for a government job. The cocaine snorting thug is even much worse than Aunty Stella. It's a pity that known schizophrenics like FFK and El Rufai are the ones dominating our social sphere. It is a sign of how developed Nigerians are in critical thinking. Anywhere else in the world these charlatans will never open their mouth after committing similar atrocities while in power. Cry my beloved Country!! |

The elite are slowly killing this country. I hope we can focus on critical infrastructure to propel us to an industrial based economy and not one dependent on natural resources like Japan and Singapore. |
May the resource curse seize in our country |
In the abstract, almost everyone agrees that this energy wealth should benefit all residents of oil-rich nations. But as long as it is cheaper in terms of time and money to secure oil by making deals with kleptocrats and corrupt Elites, there will be few incentives for major powers to risk losing access to oil/natural gas by supporting policies that would spread the wealth and encourage democracy.

No energy-importing power center can afford to be sidelined in the scramble for Africa's fossil fuel wealth. Sadly, that insures global and regional powers will continue jockeying for oil leases (vulnerable to cancellation when corrupt regimes change hands), development contracts and political influence within controlling Elites, a process that rewards the least savory aspects of corrupt regimes. Global rivals who have lost out will be tempted to support armed rebellions that weaken their rival's influence, encouraging conflicts that are inherently destabilizing, not just to the oil-rich nations but to the region. Arrayed against these powerful forces of corruption and destabilization are grassroots groups supporting democracy and national development and some non-governmental organizations (NGOs) funded by foundations. In the abstract, almost everyone agrees that this energy wealth should benefit all residents of oil-rich nations. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-10-23/guest-post-scramble-africas-oil The global scramble for Africa's estimated 25 billion barrels of oil is on. Those scrambling to secure (and/or exploit) the continent's abundance of fossil fuels include each oil-rich nation's political and economic Elites, international oil corporations, regional powers, trading blocs and the four major (and energy-hungry) economic players: the E.U., the U.S., Japan and China. Oil-rich nations are bedeviled by the Resource Curse. An abundance of natural resource wealth distorts the national economy and politics in a number of ways: private investment in other less exploitable/profitable sectors of the economy stagnates, leaving the government and economy highly dependent on resource revenues; local Elites quickly gain control of the income stream from the resource wealth and divert it to their own accounts and cronies, institutionalizing corruption, and this diversion of national income to Elites starves the nation of investment in infrastructure, education, transportation networks and all the other foundations of a vibrant, competitive economy. In geopolitical terms, oil-rich nations become "areas of interest" to neighboring states and energy-hungry global powers, further complicating and distorting national development. Though many hope that this flood of energy wealth can be used to fund much-needed infrastructure, education and public health projects throughout the continent, the key systems of governance, governmental transparency, an open media and a political process that enables public participation are problematic in many (if not all) of Africa's energy-rich nations. Unfortunately, these systemic weaknesses render these nations even more vulnerable to the distortions of the Resource Curse. |
May God keep us safe in this country |
We need to be vigilant. The United States just issued a terror alert for Uganda. Thank God for saving the super eagles and football fans in Addis Ababa. |
