jsk7:That is so true. It's always 'them' and never 'we'. There's this childish and 'entitlement' mentality that robs us of objective assessment of issues and taking fair share of our contribution to the systemic rot. |
Nigerians are not commenting, sign they are tired of all these nonsense in health sector of the country. When doctors were on strike, they we're called all sorts of names, described as insensitive to the plights of 'common' man and money-hungry. I was actually thinking this time around, JOHESU will show leadership and commitment to people by rejecting salaries while nt working but alas!!! That was not to be- they withdrew their pay and spent and one wonders where that mantra of 'commitment to welfare and concern for common man' fizzled to. Bottom line- everyone, group is SELFISH. That 'common man' is the victim of all these blackmail and arm-twisting in health be it by NMA or JOHESU and it's got to stop. |
Interesting. Loving all the responses, didn't know I could read through all but actually did. Refreshing as well as entertaining. |
Very pathetic. Little wonder our paper qualifications are being ridiculed all over the place. A 'prof' that can't verify facts before holding strong positions! He is a bad 'ambassador' of our citadel of learning, a disgrace to ivory towers. |
Politics with everything! Can people even reason without all these sentiments again? However, the question that agitates my mind each time is how do these people plant these bombs without being detected esp in banks where security men are expected to mount guard 24hrs. This is really terrible. |
Thank you young lady. You are the best. Was shocked we still have people who love this country, contented with their 'morsel' knowing blessing comes from God and He will surely bless you. If you've not refused the money, we would not be talking about you here today but you've set an example, made name for yourself and I tell you, long after now, we'll still reference this your noble act. Those who embezzle it have been doing it years and years back and they've never been satisfied cos they can't ever be. It's a lesson for anyone; good pays and so does evil. |
peewhydee:Why can't APC field BRF? Isn't he tested already? GMB carries so much load that all in the know will find difficult if not suicidal to ignore. I think it will be better for GMB to be in the background and let the youths carry on. We are talking of the future most people his age aren't likely to be part of. Their's a spent generation. |
iconize:That's the way I see it too o, I wonder! |
emmasege:I gbadun this objectivity. That's what's called fairness. |
tenry: they can go to hell. Bunch of fools. The strike cost me 180,000 i did not budget for. My wife delivered thru CS after the nurses in general hospital referred us to private hospital run by the same set of doctors in surgery department of the general hospital. If at all the delivery will be thru operation in a general hospital, it cant be more than 60k while i paid 180k at a private hospital. Four days after, they are calling off the strike, damn you. stupid set of human being.Sorry, u've just had a taste of 'privatisation' which we've all been clamoring for. I rejoice with u your wife is alive and ur baby kicking. That she had a CS is no guarantee of a happy ending. So, rejoice baba baby. |
lanrefront1: please stop with the sermon. it is a fact and it is truth that doctors are trying to prevent other professionals from reaching the zenith of their careers. it's not the figment of anyone's time imagination.Well friend, am glad you read that my 'bedtime stories' and as you said, it's meant for my 'junior' ones. I therefore assume you are one. What is even the zenith u all are talking about? 'Consultancy'? Is that why you guys want to risk stroke? Ok o, NMA, stop this 'serious struggles' against other professions o. I wish I can ask that you all be 'dashed' consultancy and I hope we'll all relate happily thereafter. I know you are disorderly vexed. Pls, sorry. Anything for peace! |
dalu: After reading through all the comments all I can say is Nigerians deserve the level of Healthcare they have.. Way too much anger and very much said in ignoranceTruth be told, this acrimony is global but why we don't see as much strike in other climes is because the general populace served are better informed and take it upon themselves in some ways to ensure they keep their docs at work. In Nigeria, reverse is the case cos of ignorance, PHD syndrome and petty considerations. A Nigerian sees issues through his prism of his family members being in a profession or generalise from his experience with one member of an assumed 'enemy' profession. Unfortunately, he submits biased, tainted and unreasonable views which often than not assume delusional dimension. Maybe we'll get there one day but from what obtains here on NL, that might be centuries away. |
drobadebayo: If FG could sack the residents,i wonder why it won't sack the whole of JOHESU wen d tym finally comes. It would be suicidal for anyone to try it. Govt purportedly suspended residency training and still urged the residents to come, work and still collect their salary. I wonder if govt would have any reason to do same for a sacked JOHESU member o. U go on strike, u kiss your lifeline goodbye be that o. Abo oro laa so fun omo'luwabi. |
rhymz: What a very misleading claim. Very misleading. The so-called medical history is mostly results from lab tests the doctor use in evaluating the patient. There is no such thing as a medical history without proper lab tests and results from such. So please slow your roll, everyone is equally as important don't try to make it look like a doctor is the alpha and omega in the treatment of patients, they won't even work without confirmations from lab test results. You obviously do not know what you are talking about or are exaggerating the importance of a doc.JISOS!!! Laugh wan kill me for here ooooo. I gbadun u die my friend. U've got the gift. Something funny when I needed one! Thanks mehnnnn. Hahahahahahaha...... |
toysleek: It's very true..Tell us your centre so we can confirm |
afrodoc: No, we would only laugh more. Nigerian doctors will not leave better pay, better equipment and training and a higher standard of living abroad to come back to apply for any job advertized in Nigeria. Stop deceiving yourself, you are not making any sense. What is even special about any advert? Funny lot. Do people get employed without adverts in most cases? When the so-called sacked resident docs took those positions, they were advertised. So? I don't even know the point there. Govt is saying no more training but have not said they would not give them job! If making money is the main thing for the docs, it maked no difference now bt this is not obvious to the phd syndrome sufferers. And whatever, the masses will be worse for it. |
afrodoc:Nooo, we need you to come and perform surgeries with lantern, attend to patients whatever the risk with torchlights, treat ebola patients without protection, cram all that is written in British National Formulary cos when you check doses and drug interactions using internet, it shows us you don't know anything. We want you to bear all insults and aggressions from other health workers with smiles because it's what you swore to do and you have to so we'll continue to see you as noble. It does not matter whether your prescriptions are altered without clarification or you are prevented from checking status of your operation sites after surgeries because, unlike in the past when you bullied all your 'team' members, a miracle of sort has happened and they have evolved 'erikally'. It is 'international best practices'. Pls, don't mention relativity in pay. It is greed to insist it has to be observed when other workers' emoluments are raised such that they are at par with yours. Beisides, whoever knows the 'way' is smartest? It's an area your association would need lessons for from JOHESU. Strike Don't even think it however unhappy at shabby treatment you may be! That would be suicidal as it could draw the ire of our emperor with attendant 'immediate sack'. Why should you be treated differently? We don't want to know what forms the basis of international social classification cos to us, you are not more important than a cobbler. Please, we are begging you, we've sent our honorable minister to you in different fora and we are would love to welcome you back 'home' to your root. That much you 'owe' us cos we 'subsidsed' your undergraduate training. We sacked these ones here because they don't see it as a 'calling' but money making venture. That am sure would be a mentality alien to your likes honed abroad. Who says Nigeria cannot set the pace for the rest of the world? |
einsteino: Although i never met her and unfortunately am not an elected officer and therefore do not really have the mandate to represent anyone... Nonetheless i want to say as a nigerian i am sorry for your loss and on behalf of every ordinary Nigerian like me who would have died if not for her patriotism, i pray God almighty keeps her in His house and grants you the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Pls accept our condolences, sadly R.I.P is what ends matters like this in the crazy joke we call Nigeria.Good man with good heart. Spot on! |
Oduduwaboy: you are a joke ! i bet its people like you that abuse doctors...and you dont know anything about how the doctor-What do you expect of people who could not reason beyond primordial, hate-ladden sentiments? Just a bunch of sadistic beings masquerading as nl 'intelligentsia'. Have long stopped caring about what opinion they hold. If in this time and period, anyone thinks someone else should go and die while he or she sits that ass behind a laptop on a faceless forum typing gibberish, then he or she is on a long thing. After R.I.P, life goes on for these lot with their histrionic tantrums. |
ladej: pay Egyptian doctors with which money?U even get time to give credence to a load of crap! |
ficoram: I dont see any sense in the doctors in lagos taking to the.it just shows some level of unprofessionalism, you can imagine the ASUU members taking to the street and protesting against a government made up of dishonourable men and incompetent mofo.s. - common you guys are senior officers.I will imploy all doctors to :Also amazed at the protest. Did not even hear of it. They should just be calm. However difficult it appears, give it few weeks, they'll adapt and evolve. Serious plans are underway I tell you all, it's for the better. Now, nothing happens in fed-govt owned hospitals, no patients, while staff turn up and chat all day. Some depts now made internal arrangements where they rotate who comes to work on particular day and you see them trolling here about how doctors are going to be paid for not working. Let's see how long govt would sustain the wage bill when little or nothing is generated to cushion running cost. At the end of the day, this shit's going to rub on all. Those patronising roadsides, may 'Goodluck' continue to bring you goodluck. |
esperiense: Yes I'm also with GEJ, but he should build more mortuaryHahahahahaha. That's really interesting and true! |
ceaser: But really it's the case in Nigeria with its odd peculiarities. You fight the government for the good of all, yet the same people you're in the same boat together (disadvantaged masses) take sides with their own enemy against you, meanwhile the same people in government laugh behind them and fly to India with the slightest headache, leaving them to continue the squabbles at their own detriment.Walahi. Nigerian doctors are tooooooo nice. Things are about to change sha. Events like this arise to open your eyes to things you never would have considered. Imagine! Praying for another person to die out of hate. Well, I don't blame most people. Rather than read educative stuffs, we love gossips, want to know whose's dating another among our celebrities and are attracted to bad news than good. So why blame anyone when all we do is load our hearts with disdainful materials. Some even have more life 'online' than in 'real-line', so what makes for a healthy relationship has been replaced by solitary and virtual existence. |
1234kkkk: Ordinary diagnose they can't do, Chief Gani Fawehenmi was wrongly diagnosed by these dregs Nigerians Doctors of pneumonia and treated for the same ailment at LUTH. After two years ,a London Hospital diagnosed him of cancer. The only thing they can diagnose is increment in call duty allowance, increment in shift allowance, increment in dress allowance and to fight other medical workers as if they are special. After all, they equally patronize India for medical treatment. They should continue with the strike, at least their private hospitals are benefiting from it.Hahahaha! But you forgot to remember late icon Dora Akunyili was first diagnosed of cancer in Nigeria but was given clean bill in a place of we would like to believe practice 'eldorado medicine'. The rest is history. Nigerian docs give their utmost in spite of the limitations here in terms of sophisticated facilities. I regard all these subversions as unnecessary distractions. It's sad to say but we live in a nation where everybody never own up to anything, points accusing fingers to others as reasons for non-achievement, and with unrivaled sense of 'me, I and myself'. However, we project so much our paranoia that it becomes almost a religious tenet. It's been said long before now that a prophet is usually not valued in his town. Somehow, Nigerians bring this to play vividly esp in the last few weeks gone by. |
spikesC: You see, there's a very big difference between me and you.Well, sorry about that. It's funny how some supposedly 'learned' Nigerians find it difficult to be decorous in conversations, esp in a faceless forum like this. I salute your patience in spite of this 'agbero' mentality of some, not all of us. Kudos. |
Honestly, the age of tech has simplified life for us all when we seek knowledge. It's appalling to see that people feel because there's no cure for ebola, then the physician has no role in the management. NTA tweets say severe cases require intensive care. The American doc with Samaritan who had the MZapp stuff was cared for by people who realised ebola could shuts down systems of the body and this made prepare in anticipation for things like renal, hematologic, cardiac shutdowns. Mild cases still require supportive care covering areas such as electrolytes and fluids. Who coordinate all these? I sure know it's not a carpenter. |
ceaser: Well, maybe you'll tell your fellow allied health workers (pharmacists included) to stop brandishing and hanging what isn't their trade marks on their car dashboards and rear view mirrors - the "stestoscope".Hmmm, I've been seeing this a lot- I mean the steth stuff. The truth just hit me with this ur post now. Hmmm, interesting. |
ceaser: What d'you stand to gain from barefaced lies aimed at discrediting these men? The same propaganda you embarked upon painting 'em as wicked, selfish and inconsiderate for justifiably going on strike is what you have started on again. Did you realise there was an official statement to attend to suspected and confirmed ebola infected following a meeting that was held with the LASG? And by the way, your "Nigeria equivalent of the CDC" has doctors on the team if you must know. I'm sure the uninformed masses will not swallow your lies this time cos most of them (even the nurses among its ranks) have realised josehu's weapon of propaganda of false information and have began to ignore them. Some people are just so fixed on their dose of hate and no matter what evidence exist contrary to their belief, they are incorrigible. It is a serious symptom of the mentally ill. |
crackhaus: See the person y'all are taking serious...heck, check out his three topics and tell me if there's any doubt as to this person's state of mental healthCouldn't agree less jare. |
Relationship101: Your Mama told you? What if she is wrong? Or are you too sentiment to face the truth?Oh dear! What do we have here? Need anyone say more? O ti pari patapata. Wetin man no go see for this wonderful NL? |
aluunoble: Hide ur head in shame thou sluggard! Medical Lab. Scientists, Nurses, Radiographers, Physios Pharms, etc are doing their work quite deligently even without ur asses. Who diagnosed the said Ebola virus in LUTH? Isn't not a Med Lab scientist? Stop unhealthy propaganda coz unfortunately Nig masses are now enlightened hence the less panic by the public while u guyz are lazying out there in the name of strike. The Scientist never demanded an upward review of Hazard allowance and yet put his life in dilemma to save not even a Nigerian but a Liberian. Enemy of progress sorry NMA of progress!Of course, he saved the man. I saw him playing chess this afternoon near mama Ranti's shop. If only you know how busy guys are at various levels, you would not be saying 'lazying' about. Besides, you are working and tending the patients, why bother about him who has not come? He's not hindering your so-called 'progress' na. Like it or hate it, on NMA strike we stand and pls, don't develop hypertension over that. |
Kajiang02: This Man's stupidity as well as others supporting the strike action is beyond comprehension.Well, since Boko Haram guys are better, I urge you to face the forest. For your information, they know where exactly to put the knife so you could be cured of your madness. BS |
