No fewer than 33 people have been arrested following a bloody clash between Hindus and Muslims in Trilokpuri area of India’s capital, New Delhi, India Today website reported quoting the police.

“Ten people were arrested on Friday and 23 today for rioting in the area,” an unnamed police officer was quoted saying on Saturday.

Clashes between the two communities took place after Diwali celebrations in Trilokpuri’s B-Block, with the two groups pelting each other with stones. It was still unclear what prompted the unrest.

How did you come about acting?
I started acting as a result of some challenges that came my way when growing up. My father was a custom officer and my mother a grade II teacher. Things were smooth for us until my father had issues with the Nigeria Customs and there was a turn around. My mum’s income was not enough for our upkeep and as the first child of the family, I wanted to support her. I moved into selling of clothes and other petty businesses at Tincan Island . But before that, I had loved entertainment, simply by watching home videos. Music and films were part of me. I had a cousin who I used to accompany to Fadeyi to see a friend of his. Then actors had their caucus known as ‘Star Parade’ there and each time we went visiting, I felt like becoming part of them. In 1997, I walked up to Mufutau Oladokun (Baba Alaran) who later became my boss and that was how I found my way into the world of acting.

What is acting to you?
Ronke-OjoI believe the blood of acting runs in my family. Even my father was a member of cultural and theatre group in his university days at Obafemi Awolowo University, O.A.U. He was also part of stage productions like Macbeth where he even acted as a lady. But It took me sixteen times to get a scene right the first time I was in front of the camera; Although the film didn’t leave the shelf.

Apart from your innate passion for acting, who else inspired you into acting?
The late Ireti. I loved her acting and I am glad I worked with her before her demise. She was my heroine and mentor.

Some people refer to you as an illiterate because you never attended a university, your comment?
I have a good background and valued education. But going to the university was something I had to sacrifice when things became rough for my family. I have the plan of going back to school but as the breadwinner of my family, a career woman, mother and a wife, it has not been easy. But when the time comes, I will, even if it means going abroad to avoid distraction.

Iran has gone ahead with an execution of a woman despite an international campaign urging a reprieve.

Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, was hanged in a Tehran prison on Saturday morning. She had been convicted of killing a man she said was trying to sexually abuse her.

Jabbari was arrested in 2007 for the murder of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence ministry worker.

Human rights group Amnesty International said her execution was "deeply disappointing in the extreme".

This was contained in a statement issued Thursday by his Special Adviser, Media, Wole Olujobi, which stated that the PDP had commenced mobilization its members from the wards for the attack planned for Friday.

President Goodluck Jonathan has been advised not to bow to the pressure being mounted on him by selfish groups and individuals to contest the 2015 presidential election. Giving the advice in a statement in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, predicted that Jonathan will lose if he allows himself to be deceived into seeking re-election next year.

As reactions continue to greet the ceasefire deal between the federal government and the Boko Haram insurgents, Nigerians have been advised not to celebrate yet.

DailyPost reports that barely 24 after the deal was reportedly sealed in Chad, the violent group invaded Borno town, killing no fewer than 9 persons.

Speaking on the development, a former Vice-Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and leader of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Prof Ango Abdullahi, blamed the government for failing to find an early solution to the conflict that has claimed over 23,000 lives in the country.

1781 Victory at Yorktown

Hopelessly trapped at Yorktown, Virginia, British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered 8,000 British soldiers and seamen to a larger Franco-American force, effectively bringing an end to the American Revolution.

Lord Cornwallis was one of the most capable British generals of the American Revolution. In 1776, he drove General George Washington's Patriots forces out of New Jersey, and in 1780 he won a stunning victory over General Horatio Gates' Patriot army at Camden, South Carolina. Cornwallis' subsequent invasion of North Carolina was less successful, however, and in April 1781 he led his weary and battered troops toward the Virginia coast, where he could maintain seaborne lines of communication with the large British army of General Henry Clinton in New York City. After conducting a series of raids against towns and plantations in Virginia, Cornwallis settled in the tidewater town of Yorktown in August. The British immediately began fortifying the town and the adjacent promontory of Gloucester Point across the York River.

General George Washington instructed the Marquis de Lafayette, who was in Virginia with an American army of around 5,000 men, to block Cornwallis' escape from Yorktown by land. In the meantime, Washington's 2,500 troops in New York were joined by a French army of 4,000 men under the Count de Rochambeau. Washington and Rochambeau made plans to attack Cornwallis with the assistance of a large French fleet under the Count de Grasse, and on August 21 they crossed the Hudson River to march south to Yorktown. Covering 200 miles in 15 days, the allied force reached the head of Chesapeake Bay in early September.

Meanwhile, a British fleet under Admiral Thomas Graves failed to break French naval superiority at the Battle of Virginia Capes on September 5, denying Cornwallis his expected reinforcements. Beginning September 14, de Grasse transported Washington and Rochambeau's men down the Chesapeake to Virginia, where they joined Lafayette and completed the encirclement of Yorktown on September 28. De Grasse landed another 3,000 French troops carried by his fleet. During the first two weeks of October, the 14,000 Franco-American troops gradually overcame the fortified British positions with the aid of de Grasse's warships. A large British fleet carrying 7,000 men set out to rescue Cornwallis, but it was too late.

On October 19, General Cornwallis surrendered 7,087 officers and men, 900 seamen, 144 cannons, 15 galleys, a frigate, and 30 transport ships. Pleading illness, he did not attend the surrender ceremony, but his second-in-command, General Charles O'Hara, carried Cornwallis' sword to the American and French commanders. As the British and Hessian troops marched out to surrender, the British bands played the song "The World Turned Upside Down."

Although the war persisted on the high seas and in other theatres, the Patriot victory at Yorktown effectively ended fighting in the American colonies. Peace negotiations began in 1782, and on September 3, 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed, formally recognizing the United States as a free and independent nation after eight years of war....

I saw the official car unveiled by Governor Fayose of Ekiti State as his official car being virally shared and torrentially downloaded.

I have just few comments:
1) Governor Fayose made a honest depiction of the true age of Nigeria, growth development wise. Nigeria is still in the sixties but we’ve been faking life of 21st century people
2) The other time, this Governor won by sharing rice to people in the State. Who else is yet to agree that Nigerians are still hungry and requiring to build their stomach infrastructure?

3) We’ve although feigned 21st century life, but Governor Fayose is the only member of Nigeria’s Political class to show us quite honestly that we are 100 years backward, through his recent metaphorical depictions

4) Ekiti is a sample of the entire Nigeria. Try this “stomach infrastructure” experiment in several other States and confirm again the level of hunger that will throw mass of people to your worship if you toss little food their way....
