PoliticsBoko Haram: The Mystery Solved by clara472(op):
Somebody solved the riddle on Wednesday: former Senate president and former minister Dr Iyorchia Ayu. In brief, this is what Ayu said at the 5th Convocation Lecture of the Adekunle Ajasin University:

The oil wealth beneath the Chad Basin is fanning the embers of insurgency in the country because prominent businessmen and politicians in both Nigeria and Chad, in association with French companies, have invested heavily in oil exploration and exploitation. They are the principal financiers of, and arms suppliers to, Boko Haram. The group’s destabilisation of the north-eastern part of Nigeria benefits these investors because it delays exploration and production on the Nigerian side of Lake Chad.

The Lake Chad Basin is estimated to have a reserve of 2.32billion barrels of oil, and 14.65trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The oil and gas flows underground across the countries sharing the Lake Chad Basin: Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroun. Using 3D drilling, Chad is not only tapping oil within its territory but also from Nigeria, to push up its production levels...

According to Ope, “I am not seeking to be Governor of Lagos State to do small things. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola have shown that Lagos is capable of big dreams and doing great things. And for the next four years, together, we will make outstanding landmarks.”

Politics‘why The National Sports Festival Was Postponed’ by clara472(op): 7:34am On Nov 06, 2014
Contrary to insinuations that the 19th National Sports Festival earlier scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross River State later this month was postponed because of impending political campaigns, Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye has said that the non-readiness of most of the states informed the postponemenrt

According to the Director General, even if the facilities were all in place for the biennial festival, most of the states were not ready as they had not even registered their athletes by numbers, while the National Sports Commission, on its own, was also not prepared following the loaded programmes it was involved in during the year.
