No fewer than 100 persons, mostly women, children and the elderly, were feared dead early Sunday morning in villages and refugee camps located at Ukura, Gafa, Per and Tse-Gusa in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, home town of Governor Gabriel Suswam, in one of the bloodiest attacks on Benue communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

It was learnt that some of the attackers dressed in military uniform, stormed the affected villages in large numbers and after sacking the communities, matched into the camps and opened sustained fire on the helpless refugees. Kidnapped lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Femi Omisore, who was abducted in Ekiti State about two weeks ago, was on early Saturday rescued alongside nine others, including three other nurses. A Shia mosque in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province has been attacked by a suicide bomber causing casualties.

An eye witness said a huge explosion rocked the Imam Ali mosque in the village of al-Qadeeh with no fewer than 30 casualties. More than 150 people were said to be praying at the mosque at the time of the incident. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Tragedy struck in Lagos when an Iddo-Lagos bound train killed an unidentified middle-aged woman on the rail line at Cappa bus stop on Agege Motor around by 12:30pm.
