EFFC has arrested the immediate past Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency [NIMASA], Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi, two weeks after he was fired from his post.


A source in NIMASA told PREMIUM TIMES Mr. Akpobolokemi was arrested in Lagos Thursday morning and was detained at the Lagos office of the EFCC in the Ikoyi area of the city.

“He was taken in this morning around 10 a.m.,” the NIMASA insider said. “Some of our other officials have also been summoned while EFCC operatives have been conducting discreet investigation here. There is tension everywhere.

“One of our people just returned from EFCC and he told me the former DG is still there, sweating profusely as he was being questioned by investigators.”

Our source said while at NIMASA headquarters, EFCC operatives asked questions about some curious multibillion naira transactions approved by Mr. Akpobolokemi, especially during the dying days of the last administration.

“For instance, they wanted to know how a whooping N13 billion was spent on the acquisition of land for the permanent site of the Nigerian Maritime University in Delta,” our source said.

“They also asked about other transactions they believed were fraudulent, including transfers of millions of dollars from NIMASA accounts to other accounts.”

The spokesperson for the EFCC could not be reached for comments. He did not answer multiple calls as well as a text message to his telephone.

But an official in the prosecution unit of the EFCC in Lagos confirmed that Mr. Akpobolokemi was brought into the complex on Thursday morning.

“I’m aware he is with us but I don’t have details about the case against him or what investigators are asking him,” said the official, who cannot be named because he has no permission to speak to journalists on the matter.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on July 16 sacked Mr. Akpobolokemi and directed him to immediately hand over all government property in his possession and vacate office.

There have been several allegations of financial impropriety against NIMASA during Mr. Akpobolokemi’s tenure, including those which suggested the agency funded the lavish lifestyles of some Niger Delta militants and bankrolled most of the hate campaigns against Mr. Buhari in the run-up to the 2015 elections.
In 2012, the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, accused the maritime agency of failing to render its audited accounts from 2007 to 2011.

Slow but steady wins the race. Slowly slowly, small small, little by little, we are getting there. Businesses are picking up these days because power has greatly improved. I used to think it was because of the rainy season before but now I realize that the rains haven't even been much unlike previous years.

My prayer is for Buhari to remain resolute and focused and not get intimidated by the cries of wailers and their insults. Let him appoint his ministers when he deems fit and appoint who he likes even if people call him the worst names. What matters to most sensible people is performance of his team and not their regions/state of origin.

The Nigeria Police have concluded their probe into the alleged forgery of the Senate Standing Order, Sunday Punch has reported.

The report which confirmed that the Standing Rules used to inaugurate the 8th Assembly were forged has also been given to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The alleged forged rules had been used in the controversial election of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, on June 9, 2015.


The Police report was said to have indicted the management of the National Assembly, especially the Clerk, Salisu Maikasuwa and recommended the prosecution of the suspects.

Acting on a petition by Senator Sulaiman Hunkuyi (All Progressives Congress, Kaduna State), the Police had on July 6 quizzed Ekweremadu and Maikasuwa over an alleged forgery of the standing orders.

The petition alleged that some parts of the 2015 Senate Orders were different from the one ratified by the 6th Senate in 2010, which was used by the 7th Senate, as Standing Orders 2011.

The Police, subsequently questioned the leadership of the 7th Senate, including former Senate President, Senator David Mark; Ike Ekweremadu; former Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba; and the former Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang.

Yesterday, we heard about a strange illness in a community in Ondo state that has killed at least people who woke up blind, with headache, rashes on their bodies and died 24 hours later.

According to new reports, it's not a medical condition. The state commissioner for Information and Strategy said the illness and sudden death is connected to an exhumed corpse in the community. He said people who've died so far were those who had contact with the people who exhumed the corpse.

31 RULES FOR WOMEN

1. Accept your husband as he is, his strength and weaknesses. Romans 5:20 Acceptance is the first step in making your man come alive. It frees him to become a 'Total man'.

2. Stop thinking that your way is always the 'right' way. If your husband does something differently it does not mean that it's wrong. Ephesians 5:23

3. Give him preference over your children, parents, friends, jobs, ladies, Bible studies, etc. Genesis 2v18.

4. Do not compare him with other men. Think about the possible effects of your careless words, attitudes, and actions before you break his heart. Philippians 4v11.

5. Communicate instead of just complaining. Communication is the tool that God gave us to knit our hearts and mind together Ephesians 4v9.

6. Do not talk for your husband, finish his sentences or interrupt him when he is speaking 1Corinthians 13v4-5.

7. Give your husband Vitamin E3 (Encouragement , Esteem and Eros (plenty of sex). 1corinthians 7:2

8. Do not try to manipulate or bully him by making a threat, whining, crying or withholding marital privileges including sex. 1cor7v4-5

9. Don't make your husband earn your respect. Ephesians 5v33.

10. Avoid taking the lead simply because you think he won't take it. Negotiate with godly wisdom Ephesians 5v23.

11. Stop all nagging as nagging drives him out of the house or make him refuse to do what you want him to do and do not correct him in front of others. Proverbs 21:9, & 27:15

12. Be a companion and not a roommate Malachi 2:14.

13. Do not bring his shortcomings to others Proverbs 31v23. Learn to recognise his wonderful potentials and qualities. This will encourage him to do even more to be the man of your dream.

14. Never look first to a book, a plan, or a person to fix a problem in your marriage. lnstead go to God's word (Bible) believe and apply its principles in your situations. 1Peter 1v3

15. Do not speak to your husband sarcastically or in a condescending manner and do not slander him even if what you are saying is true. Proverbs 21:19

16. Admit when you are wrong James 5v12

17. Love your husband and hold him in reverence (that means to respect, honour, esteem, adore, praise, enjoy and admire) him.1John 4:12, Titus 2:4

18. Make him your best friend and the single most important person in your life. Be a help mate as purposed by God. Genesis 2v18

19. Always pray for him. James 5:16, Philippians 4v6

20. Give him the freedom not to use your suggestions, and do not be offended if he does not follow it. Negotiate with godly wisdom. Proverbs 4:7

21. Never cheat on your spouse no matter the circumstances. Proverbs 6v3,& 4v23.

22. Think of specific ways you could help him accomplishes goals. Be a helpful help mate. Genesis 2v18

23. Be warm and gracious to his family and friends. Make your commitment to him obvious to them. That will make him know you value and appreciate him.

24. Don't be careless of his welfare needs and do not neglect your primary responsibility - the home 1Timothy 2:5, Timothy. 5:14

25. Dress and apply your make up in an attractive manner that is pleasing to your husband, within godly boundaries.

26. When he does something wrong discuss with him privately and gently not shouting at him. Pro. 15:1

27. Learn to forgive your spouse no matter the crime. Colossians 3:13, Romans 3 :23

28. Encourage him to use his spiritual gifts in ministry and be grateful to God in all things 1corinthians 1v18

29. Do not quarrel in front of your children and do not talk while he is angry. Also learn to settle quarrels quickly, giving no occasion to the devil to attack your marriage. Ephesians 4v31-32.

30. Wives submit to your own husband as to the Lord. Ephesians 5v22. God designed both husbands and wives for equality and submission. Gen. 1v27. Submission does not mean the wife is inferior to the husband. It does not mean the wife never opens her mouth, never has an opinion or use her gifts and abilities.

31. Make your home like a palace for him so that when he is battered at work, he can still come home as a king in his house.

22. Never make your wife feel inferior and uneducated before your friends, family, anyone or even you the husband.
23. Never compare your wife’s attitude with your one time girlfriend’s attitude. 2Cor.10:12

25. Never allow money to be the bond of love in your marriage. 1Tim. 6:10
26. Never allow your parents or family members to dictate the affairs of your home, remember, ‘’therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife’’. Gen. 2:23-24.
27. Don’t ever let your children come between you and your wife. You married your wife not your children, remember they have their life to live and when married and gone, only your wife will still be with you, to cook for you, comfort you, refresh your body, soul and spirit in the bedroom. 28. Never hide any phone calls, text messages, or password to mailbox from your wife. Transparency is the ultimate key to continuous trust and confidence in marriage. Rom. 12:9-10

Dont quite agree with you. Tinubu has over time proved to be a reliable kingpin and full of wisdom. His selections have always yielded desired result. Fellow citizens,
I greet you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, as we celebrate Easter in commemoration of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

For Christians all over the world, the major lessons of Easter, which we celebrate this year in the midst of general elections in our nation, are to be found in the Messiah’s Divine love and glorious self-sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.


This year’s celebration of Easter is taking place at a period of very critical national choices and decisions, during which we must all be prepared and willing to make sacrifices for greater unity, peace, political stability and progress in our beloved country.

We must therefore seize the opportunity of the Easter holiday to reflect deeply on what more we need to do as a people, to ensure that the political process in which we are currently engaged is successfully concluded and that our beloved country, Nigeria continues to move towards a better future for all of its citizens.

Happily, we have already successfully scaled the hurdle of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections. I am quite hopeful that the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections will also be conducted peacefully.

To the glory and pride of our fatherland, our collective actions since March 28 have assured the world that the democratic spirit is alive and well in our nation.

By the grace of God, our beloved nation, Nigeria is moving forward despite all challenges.

Let us all pray this Easter, that God Almighty who has brought us this far, will continue to bless our nation as we march onward towards the fulfillment of our collective vision of a truly united, strong and prosperous nation.
