https://www.clintgist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Graduating-students-795x385.jpg You want to know why a student gets better grades without trying as much as you do? You need to try these five study habits. The goal of every student is to be successful in their studies and to achieve that, it has to be worked for. And believe me, working to achieve this isn't a hard task. All you need is to have the right study habits, because the difference between great and average students lies in their study habits. Some students have mastered the act of studying smart...and you too can. This is why it seems some students know how to pass exams better than others without working as hard as you're doing. You want to know their formula? It is no magic. You only need to double your academic efforts with these five habits of successful students. 1. Study pro-actively, don't cram If cramming has always been your approach to exams, it's high time you gave it up for a better method. Successful students don't cram, they study pro-actively by preparing well ahead of the examinations. Instead of leaving your exam preparations for the last minute, you need to set aside time for your studies every day. Go through your notes and join a study group to enhance your understanding of topics. 2. Don't skip lectures This is one of the many reasons students score low grades in exams and continuous assessment. A student who skips lectures will most likely miss an impromptu test and write out of context in exams. So, make sure you make it a habit to attend all lectures. Remember some lecturers like you to give them answers to exam questions same way they taught you in the class. If you miss such lecturer's class, you are likely going to carry his course over. 3. Set a study schedule You need to find out what works for you and set your study schedule around it. When do you assimilate better, day or night? Class or library, with music or serenity? Are you more productive before you go to bed or after sleeping for some time? Set your study timetable around what works for you and stick to it. 4. Find a study group Studying together with your colleagues can help you learn faster than studying alone either in your hostel or in the library. A study group allows you to understand those aspects of the lectures or textbook that are not clear to you. Instead of fusing and racking your head to break down these difficult aspects, you can easily ask your colleagues in the study group. 5. Take care of yourself While you try your best to study smart, also make time to take care of yourself. Sometimes, stress can get the best of you when all you do is to shuttle between your hostel, lecture rooms and the library only to study. Don't ignore the importance of those six or eight hours sleep. It goes a long way to improve your memory and make it active. Make sure you eat regularly, drink enough and get enough of sleep no matter how busy you are. https://www.clintgist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Obasanjo-1-795x385.jpg Obasanjo stressed that he would back out of his 'Coalition for Nigeria Movement' if it becomes partisan. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he has no favorite candidates for political offices in 2019. He said he would rather remain an elder statesman with passion for greater Nigeria. Last week, Obasanjo launched the 'Coalition for Nigeria Movement' (CNM) which he described in his explosive letter to President Muhammadu Buhari as an alternative to the ruling All Progressive Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In the letter, he said President Buhari has failed to bring succour to Nigerians as promised before he was elected in 2015. He also advised the President not to seek re-election in 2019, urging him to allow a younger Nigerian take over the affairs of the nation. Speaking on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, while receiving a youth group from Delta State at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, he said the coalition will not present candidates in 2019. He said the purpose of the movement is to galvanise Nigerians to appreciate their interests and power, noting that transitions that had taken place in the country since independence neglected the people at the grassroots. The former president stressed that CNM will remain a socio-political movement, adding that he would back out of the coalition if it becomes partisan. Obasanjo said, "In the year 2015, I said I would no longer participate in partisan politics. And I still stand by my decision. Everybody, irrespective of his or her political affiliation is free to come here for advice, I will gladly do that. "I have no candidate, whatsoever, for any political office. I just believe that things must be done differently in Nigeria to get different result. "If you study our transitions since the colonial era, they have all taken place without taking the people of the grassroots into consideration. So, CNM is about the people at the grassroots. It is a socio-economic movement where youth and women, especially, will be given opportunity to appreciate their interests and power. Unlike before, I believe we must put the horse before the cart. "If the system and the platform sync, I believe Nigeria will get there. And like I said, the moment the coalition gets involved in candidate sponsoring or participates in partisan politics, I will opt out of it." The fear of Obasanjo's "third force" has put politicians, especially members of the APC and PDP, who the former president believes should be voted out in 2019, on their toes. On Tuesday, Buhari appointed a national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu to head a reconciliation team that would reunite aggrieved members of the party. Some members of the ruling party are said to be planning to defect en masse due to the deepening internal crises in the party - a move which could pose a major threat to Buhari's chance of a second term. source: http://www.clintgist.com/2019-election-i-dont-have-favourite-candidates-olusegun-obasanjo/ cc: lalasticlala |
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has described the Federal Government as a failure. Wike said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration should admit it has failed in the security of lives and property in Nigeria. The Governor was reacting to the massacre of Benue state people by Fulani herdsmen. He was in the state to commensurate with the government and people of the state over the death of over 100 persons killed by the herdsmen. Wike also faulted the statement by the Police spokesman who called the Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom ‘a drowning man’. He described the statement as an “insult on person elected by people.” “I have instructed the Governors Forum to react to that statement made by the Force spokesperson. “It’s an insult that persons elected by their people would be referred to as ‘drowning.’ “It’s only in this our democracy that you can hear that kind of statement.” “The problem I have is that when we see issues that affect the nation, we play party politics with them. We should go beyond party politics. It doesn’t matter whether the governor is a PDP governor or APC governor.” Benue killings Wike encouraged Benue residents to start defending themselves and to also sleep with one eye closed. The Governor said he had foreseen the problems facing the country, which is why he has been “shouting out about the impunity of the present administration.” “I was shouting this, but nobody believed it. Now it is in Benue… “What I’m saying is that when a robber comes to your house and knocks at your door and you say ‘God help me,’you must help yourself first. “They have inflicted serious injury on Benue, many have been turned into orphans, others into widows. “Let the leaders admit their failure. Tell Mr. President that what is going on in this county is not acceptable. You know everybody would want to be the favourite child to Mr. President; but for me, I always speak the truth. My salvation will come from God and not from man”, Wike said. In response, Ortom thanked Wike and the people of Rivers State for the show of friendship. He also stressed that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris should resign for allegedly “failing in his responsibilities to arrest those already identified as behind the Benue attacks.” The IGP had urged the Benue government to suspend its anti-grazing which, according to him, is the cause of the Fulani herdsmen crisis in the state. But Ortom, who insisted that there is no going back on the law, accused the police boss of incompetence. The Governor alleged that Ibrahim has ignored calls by the Federal Government to have the killer-herdsmen in the state arrested. On January 11, 2018, the Benue government held a mass burial for 73 people killed by the herdsmen in the state. The herdsmen first struck Guma and Logo Local Government Area of Benue between Sunday, December 31, 2017, and Tuesday, January 2, 2018, killing 50 people. In another attack on Tombu village of Logo LGA on January 6, the herdsmen killed 11 other persons As at January 8, Governor Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, Terve Akase put the death toll at 71.
