Last Thursday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Gboyega Oyetola of the APC as the winner of the governorship election in Osun State.


Oyetola polled a total of 255,505 votes after the collation of the results of the supplementary election in seven polling units across four local governments, while PDP's Ademola Adeleke polled a total of 255,023 votes to come second.



But at the initial election which held last Saturday, Davido's uncle scored the highest number of votes, beating Oyetola with 353 votes but INEC declared the election inconclusive and ordered a rerun because the number of cancelled votes in the seven polling units was far higher than the margin by which Adeleke beat Oyetola.



Following this supplementary votes on Thursday, Oyetola overtook and beat Adeleke with a total margin of 482 votes.



Reacting to the outcome of the supplementary election, Davido wrote: 'God knows best ! Best believe he will come thru soon,' while replying to a Twitter user.

Monday, October 1, 2018, marks the 58th anniversary since Nigeria gained independence. Before that eventful day in 1960, there were a couple existing Christian denominations like the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), founded by Pa Josiah Akindayomi in 1952. Since then, there have a lot more churches. Here are the top five definitions since 1960:

Deeper Christian Life Ministry

This denomination also known as Deeper Life Bible Church started in 1973. It was founded by the General Superintendent, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi. At the time of its inception (August 1973), Kumuyi was a Mathematics Lecturer at the University of Lagos. There, he started a Bible study group in his official Flat 2 residence at Unilag with 15 members who had a desire to understand the scriptures, hence the name - deeper life.


Pastor Philip Oluwi, one of the pioneer members of the church, describes the beginning of Kumuyi’s ministry. In his words, “I was anxious to have a deeper knowledge of God. All along I wasn’t satisfied with what I was receiving from the churches. A friend told me about the Deeper Life Bible Study…so in January 1975, we went together to Flat 2. After the Bible Study that night, I knew I had arrived at where I really wanted to be.”

This laid the foundation for his ministry, which became the Deeper Life Bible Church after the study group started holding Sunday service in November 1982.

Living Faith Church Worldwide

This church is also known as Winners Chapel. It was founded by Bishop David Oyedepo in 1983 after a divine experience. Reportedly, the then 26-year-old founder had a vision that lasted for 18 hours in May 1981. During this vision, God said: “Now the hour has come to liberate the world from all oppressions of the devil, through the preaching of the Word of faith; and I am sending you to undertake this task”.

This mandate led to the establishment of the first Living Faith in December 1983. The first church, located in Kaduna state had only four members. Years later, this tiny church has grown into a megachurch with branches all over the nation with the headquarters located in Canaan Land, Ota. Living Faith can also be found in at least 49 countries.

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries

MFM was founded by Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya (DKO) who held a prayer meeting in his home on a Wednesday in 1989. Reportedly, only 24 people showed up. This number continued to grow until the meetings had to be moved from Olukoya’s living room to 60 Old Yaba Road, Yaba, Lagos.


Eventually, an abandoned place at 13 Olasimbo Street, Onike, Yaba was bought and turned into what we now know as the International Headquarters of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries. The church held its first official service on April 24, 1994. Fun Fact: The name was revealed to the founder while he was praying. The church can be found all over Nigeria, London, the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia.

Synagogue Church of All Nations


SCOAN is founded and led by an unusual prophet named Temitope Balogun Joshua (born June 12, 1963). Reportedly, he spent 15 months in his mother’s womb and escaped death seven days after his birth.

His ministry started after he received a vision. During this encounter, he is said to have received divine anointing and entered a covenant with God who gave him permission to start his ministry. This led to the birth of SCOAN with started years ago with eight members in Agodo-Egbe in Lagos state.

Now, Prophet Joshua’s church is an architectural masterpiece located in Ikotun-Egbe where over 15,000 people visit every Sunday. Unlike other ministries, SCOAN can only be found in two places - Accra, Ghana and Lagos state which makes it a major tourist attraction. According to The Guardian, it gets more people than the combined number of visitors to Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.

Prophet Joshua explained his reason for having only one branch during a Sunday service on August 24, 2014, the Daily Post reports.

He said, “I would have loved to have branches all over the world because people want T.B. Joshua everywhere. But it is not yet time because it will be too much for my character. When the load is too heavy for you, it will become a burden.”

Christ Embassy

Also known as Believers’ LoveWorld Incorporated, this church was founded by pastor Chris Oyakhilome in 1990. Like MFM, it started as a prayer group led by the founder who was studying architecture at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo state. It was initially known as Believer’s LoveWorld Fellowship and then Believer’s LoveWorld Inc.

Since then, it has become a global network of churches with over 13 million members across the world. Reportedly, the headquarters of Lagos has 40 000 members alone.

Social media giant, Facebook, is currently under cyber attack as a Taiwanese hacker named Chang Chi-yuan threatnened to take down Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook page in a live broadcast before appearing to pull out of the plan.

Now, Facebook has issued an offical statement on the attack saying, 'on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 25, our engineering team discovered a security issue affecting almost 50 million accounts. We’re taking this incredibly seriously and wanted to let everyone know what’s happened and the immediate action we’ve taken to protect people’s security'.

Our investigation is still in its early stages. But it’s clear that attackers exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that impacted “View As” a feature that lets people see what their own profile looks like to someone else. This allowed them to steal Facebook access tokens which they could then use to take over people’s accounts. Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so they don’t need to re-enter their password every time they use the app.

Here is the action we have already taken. First , we’ve fixed the vulnerability and informed law enforcement.

Second, we have reset the access tokens of the almost 50 million accounts we know were affected to protect their security. We’re also taking the precautionary step of resetting access tokens for another 40 million accounts that have been subject to a “View As” look-up in the last year. As a result, around 90 million people will now have to log back in to Facebook, or any of their apps that use Facebook Login. After they have logged back in, people will get a notification at the top of their News Feed explaining what happened.

Third, we’re temporarily turning off the “View As” feature while we conduct a thorough security review.

This attack exploited the complex interaction of multiple issues in our code. It stemmed from a change we made to our video uploading feature in July 2017, which impacted “View As.” The attackers not only needed to find this vulnerability and use it to get an access token, they then had to pivot from that account to others to steal more tokens.

Since we’ve only just started our investigation, we have yet to determine whether these accounts were misused or any information accessed. We also don’t know who’s behind these attacks or where they’re based. We’re working hard to better understand these details and we will update this post when we have more information, or if the facts change. In addition, if we find more affected accounts, we will immediately reset their access tokens.

People’s privacy and security is incredibly important, and we’re sorry this happened. It’s why we’ve taken immediate action to secure these accounts and let users know what happened. There’s no need for anyone to change their passwords. But people who are having trouble logging back into Facebook for example because they’ve forgotten their password should visit our Help Center. And if anyone wants to take the precautionary action of logging out of Facebook, they should visit the “Security and Login” section in settings. It lists the places people are logged into Facebook with a one-click option to log out of them all.

A woman stormed onto a football pitch and started slapping his boyfriend after discovering he was married.

The bemused referee blew the whistle to stop the match and other players could be heard asking the two to leave the pitch, but the furious woman marched straight towards her boyfriend.

And the embarrassed man appeared to know she was coming, trying in vain to avoid her by walking away.

In footage of the attack, she immediately begins slapping him and pulling at his top, shouting: “You’re married and still fooling around?!”

The guilty man does not respond as she follows him around the pitch, slapping him on the face and repeatedly hitting his head.
She continues to shout at the man, who apparently hid the fact that he was married, turning his unwitting girlfriend into a mistress and secret lover.

She says: “I’m asking you a question! Are you married?”

She adds: “Your wife may not care, but I care! Are you married or not? Why are you doing this to me? Do I look like I’m easy to bully?”

The much loved Instagram personality has reportedly committed suicide in controversial circumstances.

On September 26, 2018, around 6:30pm, Nigerian time, a tweet suggests that French social media personality, real name Gontran Diamo took his own life by jumping off the 10th floor of an apartment building near Brick City Centre, Miami, Florida.

It came as shock to many that the Paris Saint Germain Football Club fan, who looked so happy could do such.

His rags-to-riches story meant he had a lot of fans who admired his happiness and fed off same energy. He was described as an inspiration to many.

In a year that has documented the apparent suicide or accidental suicide of celebrities like Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain, Chester Bennington, Zombie Boy and Mac Miller it was the worst news possible.

Before his death, he apparently dropped a suicide note in his native French language.

The Instagram post reads, “Dites a ma mère que je l’aime de tout mon coeur.je me suis toujours battu pour qu’elle ne manque de rien et qu’elle pardonne ceux qui m’on fait du mal.papa aussi je t’aime fort♥️ , a mes freres et soeurs. Smartgirl je t’aimais je t aime et je t’aimerai♥️. Mes amis je vous aimes , aimons nous vivant. NB: j’espere pour vous que vous serez hyper riches apres ma mort.”

The translation reads, “Tell my mother that I love her with all my heart.I have always fought so that she lacks nothing and forgives those who hurt me. Papa also I love you so much ♥ ️ , to my brothers and sisters. Smartgirl I loved you, I love you and I will love you. My friends, I love you, let us love you alive. NB: I hope for you that you will be very rich after my death.”


It has since been rumoured on social media that he committed suicide because of a relationship gone sour with his friends.

Whatever it is, seeing the self-acclaimed ‘From nothing to something’ Godiamo die in this circumstance is a tough pill to swallow.

The Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, has revealed nine records Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi and Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo have not yet broken in the history of Europe’s topflight competitions, (Champions League and Europe League).


UEFA took to their official website today to release the records, indicating that Messi and Ronaldo are yet to break the following feats in the Europe topflight leagues:

1. Most appearances – Messi has 126, while Ronaldo has 158, but the record is being held by Porto goalkeeper, Iker Casillas (179).


2. Most final goals – Messi has scored only two final goals (in 2009 and 2011), while Ronaldo has four (one apiece in 2008 and 2014, and two in 2017) but is still three shy of the record shared by two Real Madrid legends, Alfredo Di Stéfano, Ferenc Puskás, who have both scored seven.


3. Oldest goalscorer – AC Milan legend, Paolo Maldini scored for his side’s defeat to Liverpool at the age of 36 in the 2005 Champions League final and also Roma legend, Francesco Totti scored at the age of 38 in his side’s Champions League group stage clash against CSKA Moskva in 2014.

Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the Osun governorship election, Iyiola Omisore, has agreed to work with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of a rerun governorship election slated for Thursday, September 27, 2018.

Omisore has become the beautiful bride of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC with a crucial rerun vote for both parties looming.

Why Omisore matters in the equation

Omisore hails from Ife and that part of Osun remains his stronghold.

There is a total of three polling units at stake for the APC and PDP in Ife.

On Monday, September 24, Senate President Bukola Saraki drove to Ife for a deal cutting meeting with Omisore. Afterwards, Saraki announced that Omisore had agreed to work with the PDP ahead of the rerun.

24 hours after however, Omisore denied that he had agreed to work with the PDP.

“The news going round that I have agreed to work with the PDP is falsehood,” Omisore told SaharaReporters.

Meeting APC cheiftains

On Tuesday, September 25, Omisore held a meeting with APC chieftains and agreed to work with the governing party in Osun instead, stated by some of the chieftains who attended this meeting.


The meeting was attended by APC Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Minister of Information Lai Mohammed, Ekiti Governor-elect Kayode Fayemi and Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, among others.

“Omisore has agreed to work with the APC in Thursday’s rerun. The deal was sealed after our meeting with him in Osogbo, early Wednesday”, one APC chieftain claimed.

Inconclusive election

The Osun governorship election was declared inconclusive by INEC Returning Officer for the poll, Prof Joseph Adeola Fuwape, because the margin of victory between the two leading candidates (Ademola Adeleke of the PDP and Gboyega Oyetola of the APC) was less than the number of voided votes.

There is a vote total of 3,498 to fight for during the rerun as follows: 353 in Ife North, 1,314 in Ife South, 947 in Orolu and 884 in Osogbo.

Omisore dumped the PDP for the SDP after years of toiling to get the governorship ticket on the PDP platform.

A 100-year-old woman is set to marry her toyboy lover who is 26 years younger than her, proving it's never too late to tie the knot.

Norah Witkiss was whisked off her feet by Malcolm Yates, 74, when they met at modern sequence dancing.

The couple have been together for more than 30 years and will tie the knot next month, the Daily Post reports.

The centenarian from Prestatyn, who turns 101 in December, says she wants to get hitched "before it's too late".

She and Mr Yates are set to say "I do" at a ceremony at The Beaches Hotel in the town on October 16.

Ms Witkiss, who has been married twice before, said: "Malcolm and I have been together for 30 odd years but have never spoken about getting married.

"We just thought we'd get married now before it's too late.

"I was worried about me getting older and I didn't want to lose the opportunity.

"I'm sure we'll be happy.

"We're really looking forward to it."

The retired school cook who ran the kitchen at Ysgol Penmorfa, has got her dress and hat sorted for the ceremony and the couple's wedding rings are on order.

They will be joined by close friends and family for a meal after they take their vows.

Former bus driver, Mr Yates, 74, recalled how they got together.

"We met at modern sequence dancing in Meliden.

"I couldn't dance, but Norah was very good at it. She more or less taught me and helped bring me on.

"We went travelling a lot and would dance on holidays to Torquay.

"We liked the Cha-cha-cha the best.

"We're always out and about together."

The mum-of-one was born in Wrexham in 1917 and married her first husband, Fred Thomas, when she was 18.

They met after she was given a green card by the Labour Exchange and was sent to work at the Prestatyn Golf House Hotel as a maid and cook, where he was a golf caddy.

After he died in 1970, she met Bert Witkiss and they were married for 16 years. He died in the late 1980s.

But she later found companionship again through her life-long passion for sequence dancing.

Revealing the secret to a long life, the great-grandmother, who received a card off the Queen for her 100th birthday last year, said it's all about keeping active.

"I've had a very good life really, I've enjoyed it," she said.

"I love meeting people and talking to people.

"I enjoyed working and going out, I never stopped, I was always on the go.

"I used to go out dancing with the girls, I liked it, especially if a chap picked you up," she joked.

"I don't dance any more because I can't turn and I'm afraid of falling over.

"But nobody believes me when I tell them I am 100, they think I'm joking.

"I don't feel 100 though, that's the main thing."

Anca Arsene, 29, and her now-husband Valentine, 34, are naturists and have been so for a long time. So they decided to have a nak*d wedding.

After so many years and the large communities of Yoruba-speakers, the Brazilian government is finally making Yoruba an official language in Brazil.

The African slaves from the west, carried along their Yoruba religion with them when they were brought to Brazil. This religion is referred to as Candomblé by Afro-Brazilians — a religion that seeks harmony with nature. This culture and religion is still very much relevant and gave birth to the Òrìsà-worshipping and Yoruba-speaking people of Brazil.

It comes as no surprise that, after so many years, Yoruba is being instilled as an officially recognised language in the country.


Last week at AYO, a national meeting of African-Brazilian storytellers, the Brazilian minister of culture, Dr Sérgio Sá leitão announced that Yoruba is now one of their official languages and language and African History will be introduced as a compulsory subject in primary and secondary schools curriculum.

In attendance of this meeting, in Quilombola, were big names such as renowned Professor Wole Soyinka, Dr. Sophie Oluwole, the first female PhD holder in Yoruba Philosophy, and painter and illustrator Adeyinka Olaiya.

The minister said that this move will help Afro-Brazilians understand their roots and origins and explain the link between the current Brazilian practices and Western Yoruba cultures.

Due to many reasons — trans-atlantic slave trade, cattle grazing, immigration — small communities have grown in other countries where some Nigerian languages are actually spoken. Brazil is not the only country that has Yoruba as their official language, excluding Nigeria. Outside Nigeria, you can find large yoruba-speaking communities in Togo and Benin Republic. Smaller communities can be found in Sierra Leone, Liberia and other African countries. In these countries, French is the lingua-franca but perchance you can’t speak it, Yoruba is your next best option.

In Ghana, there is a growing Hausa community and in Equatorial Guinea, Igbo is recognised as a minority tribe with about 53,000 speakers.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Monday discovered 12 corpses of infants in hidden boxes during an impromptu visit at Pumwani Hospital Nairobi, Kenya.

The bodies were seen wrapped in black and white polythene paper bags and put in brown boxes. There were six corpses in one box, five in another and one in the last box.

According to Standard Media, the Governor took the Hospital management off guard and visited the facility on a bike without his entourage.

It’s alleged that the infants died after the management shut down the machines at the maternity wing.

“Conducting impromptu visit at Pumwani Hospital, where it’s alleged by members of the public that the management shut down the machines at the Maternity Wing, leading to loss of lives of young ones," said the Governor.

In the video, the furious is then seen arguing with one of the Hospital’s staff over the number of dead infants ‘buried’ in the ward.

According to him, it is impossible to lose 12 babies in one day.

"I want to categorically state that human life must be respected no matter the case. Stern action will be taken against anyone found to be sabotaging the good services offered to our mothers and sisters who come to deliver in this facility."

A Kenyan nurse killed his 18-month son, Michael, while reversing his car, on Monday, September 10th, 2018, in Olathe, Kansas, U.S

According to reports, Daniel Mutuma had left his home, early in the morning, for a local university where he is studying, but realised he had forgotten some documents and went back home to get them.

He hurriedly picked the item, bid his wife, Loise - who was tending to their young twins - goodbye, and quickly left the house without realising that Michael had sneaked out of the house and followed him.

Police in the area opened investigations into the matter but it is understood that the father will not face any criminal charges.

A Superintendent of Police identified as Sunday Eguakhide, on August 24, about 11.30a.m., died while making love to a mother of two in his office at the Police College Ikeja in Lagos State. .

Newtelegraph reports that Eguakhide had less than a week to his retirement, when the incident occurred. The lover, upon being arrested, denied having anything to do with his death. .

According to her, the deceased was fond of taking sex enhancement drugs whenever they wanted to have sex. She was quoted as saying: “He always used to have sex with me in his office.

He had already gone once, but as usual, he was not satisfied. In fact, I told him on that day that the drugs he used to take anytime we want to have sex is not too good for my body. .

I didn’t like it because I was the person that used to bear the brunt of it. He would be pounding into me for a very long time and because of the drug. He usually takes long to cum. .

On that fateful day, after he went first on the round, he refused to allow me to dress. He started playing with me until his manhood became turgid again. He then started pounding into me again.” .

The woman, who is a petty trader, said that at a point, Sunday began to act funny. He rolled off her, rolled off the couch in his office, where they were having sex, to the ground and started jerking. .

The scared woman repeatedly called out his name, but did not respond and continued jerking. When she noticed that his tongue was beginning to protrude and foams emitting from his mouth, she unlocked the office, ran out and started screaming, unmindful that her brassieres was dangling. .

Eyewitnesses said that by the time help came, Eguakhide was already dead. His wife was alerted and his remains was taken to the Ikeja General Hospital. Before his death, Sunday was the Officer-in-Charge of the Works Department, Police College Ikeja

Nathaniel Idoko, the headmaster in charge of Migrant Farmers Children School, located in Aguibeji community, Enugu-Ezike, has been arrested by the police in Enugu State for allegedly defiling four female pupils of the school. .

He was said to have, on July 17, 2018, taken the four students, aged between five and six years, to a bush near the school and abused them sexually. .

The Enugu state police PRO, Ebere Amaraizu, revealed that the act occurred during school hours, adding that the suspect had allegedly “used his fingers on the private parts of the four female pupils, which inflicted serious injuries on them, making them to walk abnormally.” .

The headmaster was exposed when one of the abused pupils told her parents. “This led to the arrest of the headmaster who in response, regretted his act and blamed it on Satan. .

He said he did not know why he did what he did, adding that he has seen that he did not achieve anything doing what he did,” Amaraizu said. The four victims involved are being treated by doctors.

“My wife is not happy with me over this incident. I am begging my wife, the parents of the children and God to forgive me,’’ Amaraizu quoted the suspect as pleading.

A counsel to the Department of State Services (DSS), G. O. Agbadua, has given reasons why journalist Jones Abiri, was not given a trial for the two years he spent in detention.

Abiri was arrested by DSS in 2016 and accused of being the leader of the joint revolutionary council of the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, a separatist group.

Abiri, the publisher of Weekly Source Newspaper, was arraigned for the first time after two years in July following public outcry. Abiri was granted bail in August.

Thereafter, the Bayelsa-based journalist asked the Abuja federal high court to compel the federal government to pay him N200 million as compensation for spending two years in detention.

Abiri said he was tortured by the DSS while in detention.

However, at the court on Monday, DSS lawyer explained that when a capital crime has been committed as in the alleged case of Abiri, a person can be held in detention without a trial.

“Section 30(3) of ACJA where a suspect is taken into custody and it appears to the police officer in charge of the station that the offence is of a capital nature, the arrested suspect shall be detained in custody, and the police officer may refer the matter to the attorney-general of the federation for legal advice and cause the suspect to be taken before a court having jurisdiction with respect to the offence within a reasonable time,” the counsel said.


“It is of individual right to national security and rule of law, the state itself was a result of individuals submitting their powers, their rights to the state for protection.


“Reading those provisions, we are of the view that since it’s individual right, it cannot supersede that of the national security and that bail in capital offence is not as of right.”


Apparently displeased with Agbadua’s statement, Samuel Ogala, counsel to Abiri, disagreed with the DSS lawyer.
Abiri’s counsel argued that his client’s detention was illegal and there is no court order to that effect.

“What is rule of law and national security? It is the duty and responsibility of the court to say yes, this case is a capital offence or whether an applicant is entitled to bail or not,” he said.
“It is not the responsibility of the state security service to sit in their office, arrest, detain and punish a person.
“The issue of rule of law and national security is very clear, what I want the court to understand is that the applicant’s detention is criminal intimidation and it is punishable.”
After listening to counsels, the presiding judge, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, adjourned the matter till September 13.
