CrimeKETU RIOTS: Boy, 16, Hit By Stray Bullet. by coaco(op): 8:52am On Mar 11, 2016
By Esther Onyegbula, LAGOS—Doctors are currently battling to save the life of 16-year-old Bolaji Kalejaye, who was hit by a stray bullet during the recent Mile 12 crisis. It was gathered that Bolaji was on his way home from where he went to write JAMB examination when he was hit by a stray bullet, which led to his intestines coming out. According to a family member, who spoke to Vanguard, “Bolaji was on his way home after writing Jamb, when the incident happened. “With the little strength left, he rushed to a police station, where he was chased away by the officers on duty. Can you imagine how insensitive the Nigerian police can be? “He fell along the road. If not for a neighbour who saw him lying helplessly on the road and then informed his parents, only God knows what would have happened. “Immediately his parents were alerted, they rushed him to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH. “Bolaji, who scored 250 point in the exam, had dreams to study medicine. But his dream has temporary come to a halt.”

TravelOcholi’s Driver To Be Prosecuted For Over-speeding — FRSC by coaco(op): 10:48am On Mar 10, 2016
BUJA — The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, said yesterday, that the driver of late Minister of State for Labour, Mr. James Ocholi, would be prosecuted for over-speeding, following the ghastly road crash that claimed the lives of the minister, his wife and son last Sunday. The late minister, Chief James Ocholi (left) and wife He also stated that Ocholi’s driver had no drivers licence as his name was not found on the data base of FRSC. Oyeyemi, who disclosed these while presenting the accident’s Road Traffic Crash Investigation Interim Report to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, recommended periodic retraining for convoy drivers, adding that late Ocholi and his family members were not on seat belt during the accident. Overspeeding He said: “Information gathered revealed that the driver of the crashed vehicle was actually moving at excess of the stipulated speed when he had a tyre burst. “The crashed vehicle driver was driving too fast and he slammed on his brake so hard. These two factors materially contributed to the inability of the driver to maintain control when the left rear tyre burst. “Skid marks and grooves found on the westbound shoulder made by the Lexus LX570 for about 15m and 9.3m respectively before it began somersaulting severely and the ejection of the minister and his son showed clearly that the travelling speed of the Lexus LX570 presented unsafe consequences in the event of certain road risk that may have occurred. “The driver must have entered into a panic situation which resulted in his hard application of brakes and subsequent loss of control that took him into the bush path. “The DOT number of the tyres were inward which cannot easily be read from outside. This indicates that the orientations of the tyres were not properly fixed which could adversely affect the performance of the tyres. “The Federal Road Safety Corps Investigation Team (FIT) determines that the probable cause of the March 6, 2016, fatal crash at KM34 Kaduna-Abuja expressway near Rijana village, Kaduna State, was the driver’s failure to maintain directional control of his vehicle when the rear left tyre burst occurred. “Severity of the fatality was increased due to the ejection of the minister and his son as a result of non use of rear seat belts. FRSC recommendations The corps recommended, among other things, for “the certification and re-certification of convoy drivers at intervals of two years of issuance of convoy driver’s licence. “President Buhari should lead the campaign on compliance with speed limits, starting with installation of speed limiting devises in commercial vehicles. “There was no record on the driver’s licence national data base of the driver of the minister with the name Taiwo James Elegbede. “The ejection of the minister and his son, who occupied the rear seat, confirmed the fact that their rear seat belt were not in use and on the contrary, the driver and the orderly survived because the front seats belt were in use.”

CrimeAnother Fulani Herdsmen's Attack On 4 Villages, Benue State. by coaco(op): 3:59pm On Mar 08, 2016
BY PETER DURU MAKURDI – At least eight persons have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack on Benue communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen who Tuesday invaded parts of Logo local government area of state. The attack is coming on the heels of the Agatu massacre where over 300 person were killed in over one week of sustained offensive on Agatu communities by suspected Fulani mercenaries. Vanguard learned that in this latest attack, the marauders invaded four villages including Tse Chia, Tse Nhumbe, Deghkia and Ngorukgan at about 2am, shooting sporadically and burning down houses and huts in the affected communities. According to the source, “it was a coordinated attack on the four villages by the well armed herdsmen who stormed our villages in large number, around 2am and shooting sporadically. “It was the sound of their gunshot that woke everyone from sleep resulting in a stampede and the gunning down and macheting of about 8 persons though the causality figure maybe more than that because many person are still unaccounted for just as scores sustained serious injuries. “As I speak with you the affected villages have been deserted and the invaders have taken over and are razing in the ancestral homes of the people who have fled to Anyii, Ugba and Abeda towns, in their thousands, for fear of being killed. “It’s a pathetic situation, the development has inflicted untold hardship on women, children and the elderly who are trekking long distances in search of safe haven and awaiting the intervention of security operatives.” When contacted, the Benue state Police spokesman, Assistant Superintendent, ASP, Moses Yamu said he was yet to receive details of the development.

If we want peace in this country let there be equal rights and justice. Venue State government must be aware that the attack on his people is politicised.
