Family / Airtime Giveaway For Students by cochtrane(m): 3:46pm On Dec 23, 2020 |
Hello everyone, In the spirit of Christmas I'm giving away 100k in airtime to students. That's 2k airtime for the first 50 students. I would have made this cash, but for some reasons I can't at the moment. If you need this in cash, you may just want to sell the airtime to those who need it in exchange for cash. If you are interested, just follow this procedure: - You may indicate interest here. Please do not drop your phone number here. - Send a PM - I'll ask for a snapshot of your student ID and your phone number in response to your PM. - Once your details are confirmed okay, you should get the airtime in a few mins. - If your account is created after December 22, 2020, I'm sorry I won't be replying your email - Please understand that I will be sharing the handles of those who receive airtime here for record purposes Goodluck. That's all folks! List of those who have received so far:

Lately, I have been looking to mining relationships that may be existent in the network of relationships possible on a thread on Nairaland. If we collected data from any one thread, say this thread for example, we can define relationships between posters who quote each other in reply to other posts. If many more posters quote each other frequently than they do others, it is possible they could form a cluster of relationship independent from other relationships on a thread. I tried to look at this problem as a spectral partitioning problem and used linear algebra to examine possible solutions. So, I scraped the data from this programming post on Nairaland and tried to look for clusters of relationships visualized as a directed graph. The direction of the edges indicate who quotes who. We can define this as a relationship between source and target. A user in the source column has made a post and quotes the target. Multiple quotes have been separated into separate observations. The first picture shows the kind of graph we expect. The second picture shows a sparse matrix defining the relationship between any two node. This is after symmetrizing the resultant matrix we obtain from the directed graph. The last picture shows the cluster we form using the second smallest eigenvector of the Laplacian of the matrix. This is also known as the Fielder vector. That last graph reveals the two groups inherent in the data based on interaction between posters. In this particular dataset, the main center of interaction is the original poster (OP) who is Paapii3d. The groups appear to be divided based on those who have or did not have interactions with the OP. When the individual groups are examined, we find that users clustered in the top left are less likely to have interacted with Paapii3d, while bulk of the other users are more likely to have interacted with the OP, or interacted with those who interacted with the OP. The average number of interactions in Group 0 is about 1.1, while the average number of interactions in Group 1 is much higher at 2.12. This kind of solution can be used to identify communities in a graph, especially, as in this case, where there is a main center of attraction. I'm working on putting the notebook which goes into details about the solution approach on github. If anyone is interested, you can let me know and I'll send you the link. 7 Likes 1 Share |

It is up to him to prove it and he should go above and beyond to do that. If that requires sharing an account statement, then he should do that privately. Nobody is saying he should post it here. Of course, it's obvious he is also operating this account, so it makes sense that you are defending him (or should I say defending yourself). 9 Likes 1 Share |

BelieverDE:This is an interesting question, and this is how I'd do it. Prior probability that the woman has cancer is P(A) = 0.01 Let event A be that the woman has cancer Let event B be that the woman gets a positive mammogram test So, we are looking for the probability that the woman has cancer given that she gets a positive mammogram test, i.e P(A|B) Using Bayes theorem, P(A|B) = (P(B|A) * P(A))/(P(B)) We know the prior, which is P(A). P(B) can be expressed as P(B|A) * P(A) + P(B|not A) * P(not A) P(not A) = 1 - P(A) = 0.99 We take P(A|B) to be 0.75, which is what the physicians claimed, i.e. the probability that the woman has cancer given that she has a positive mammogram test. P(B|A) is the probability that she gets a positive mammogram test, given that she has cancer. That probability is 0.8, since the mammogram accurately classifies 80% of cases. If you substitute everything into the equation, you get P(B|not A) = 0.27%. This means the probability that the woman gets a positive mammogram result given that she does not have cancer is 0.27%. This is the size of the false positives and honestly is too low. This would suggest that the test is incredibly accurate, which as we can see from the figures of 80% and 90%, is not the case. So, it is very unlikely that the 75% from the physicians is correct. I suspect the "benign" case is the complement of the "cancerous" case, though it's not clear. If that's the case, then the probability of getting a negative test given that she does not have cancer (it's benign) is P(not B|not A) = 0.90, so that P(B| not A) = 1-0.90=0.1 or 10%. This is more likely the value of your false positives. If we compare with our earlier 2.7%, we see it is much higher. With this we can confirm that the physicians obviously are not right in their diagnosis. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

Limitededition10:Why should it matter that "the thread is now very dry and boring to silent readers because of these (sic) incessant abuse talk"? Is the original purpose of the people who post to entertain you? If you found it boring, why not just move on to other more interesting threads on Nairaland? Or is the forum suddenly running out of pages so that posters now need to be conservative? I just don't get why you expect people to be looking over their shoulders because they are exhaustively discussing "marriage matters". They certainly don't owe you or anyone or Seun anything, if they want to flog this issue to death. This forum is built for talk, regardless of quantity. If it's something you don't enjoy, you've got a thousand other threads on Nairaland to visit. Don't tell people what or what not to do. 28 Likes |

saheedniyi22:I don't think there's anything wrong with scrapping a website. But if you assess any website too often (using a script), they'll mostly likely ban your IP. Now, while there may not be a problem with scrapping and collecting information, there may be a problem with using the information. The laws aren't so clear, so you may have to find out how it applies in each case. Basically, it just means you have to be careful with usage of data you collect. |

Tesvin:This is a very interesting question I have some experience with, and I'll give you a good answer. Don't tell him. Just show him. Get the data and do something magical with it. I'm not talking plots or charts. Far from it. Derive good insight from the data that you believe can significantly improve production if you guys adjust just a little teeny bit in the production cycle. Show him using the many tools at your disposal why you think that adjustment may work. He doesn't have to implement it, but once he sees the passion you are showing and the direction you are moving, he'll give you the role you need. And if for some reason your insights are powerful, I see no reason he wouldn't at least attempt to use some bit of it. 12 Likes |

Drfernandez:Good behaviour is relative. You could have a woman of good behaviour who is a feminist. I don't that that features in OP's world. His problem isn't that he wants a woman of good behaviour; I think it is that he has his mind set on an image which does not good to him or to the woman he plans on meeting. More of that has a lot to do with the fact that he was raised in Nigeria and has assumed beliefs and methods that can't make him survive "in the abroad". He would function much better, were he permanently based in Nigeria, but I guess that's out of the question for him now. 1 Like |

GuyInTheMirror:I think you need to open your mind more. These ideas you have are at best appalling and at worst sexist. That you are "abroad" is no indication that you have achieved anything or that you are deserving of a "young and ripe" (pretty much your suggestion!) 26-year-old. You need to re-calibrate your thinking and come to terms with your surroundings. 2 Likes |

teewhydope:The sections column is the section to which the post belong. Could be politics, romance, etc.? The frontpagedate is the date and time the post made front page, while the posteddate is the date and time the thread was actually created. When you parse each title on the frontpage, you will see that it has a date and time associated with it. For the section and posteddate, you would have to go into the links and extract that. So, for each link you obtain, you go inside the link and you can obtain as much information as you want about that link. You could even obtain all the users who posted there and the time they posted. |
