How do you know they are FX trader. Did they show you a license to provide such services. Are you certain the source of money is clean?

Please whoever is considering converting naira or dollars to CAD, please use the Banks. Dem no dey talk this thing twice.
Chief, stop hounding me please. You can make your points cleanly without resorting to alarms.

There are no laws in Canada against peer-to-peer currency exchanging; neither are there laws that mandate anyone to have a licence before exchanging foreign currency with friends or neighbors. In fact, these forms of p2p or Airbnb-like exchanging/lending are now taking sizable business away from banks because they are faster and the fees are lower.

As regards whether the source of the money is clean or not, that's not a point I discussed. That's why you deal with someone who's trustworthy. Maybe you need to read my initial post to see that I mentioned that. Not every Nigerian is a terrorist or money launderer. There are those who want to simply exchange their hard earned foreign currency with a more convenient form of currency.

Good evenings all. Please, I'm new here. I just want to know if someone that has just Nigerian Bsc degree is eligible to apply for the Canadian express entry?
Yes, such person is eligible. Wise to take the eligibilty test on the CIC website though, as Nigerian BSc isn't the only requirement. This is the thread you need.

Just be confident in your response and hold God POF isn’t enough reason for them to turn you back at the POE.

Interesting gist. Wish you the best in Canada!

I don't think the above is correct. Insufficient POF is usually enough reason to turn anyone back at the border. It's clearly spelt in the instructions, but is left to the discretion of the border officer. I'm sure the officers certainly felt you have enough POF (in the bank), but have only chosen to travel with smaller cash.

Hi all, please I need help.

My PR Visa expires in July, while my passport expires in October. My travel date is last week of May.

Will this be a problem as passport validity will be less than 6 months. If it is, does CIC need to be contacted after passport renewal or just travel with the new & old passport that has the visa.
It's not a problem. A number of people here have been in similar situation and had no troubles "landing".
In fact, someone some few pages back inquired about this.

Thanks for your response @joo2018. It's quite helpful.
Those methods mentioned work fine. There is one others I have tried, which you may also find helpful.

There are FX dealers on Nigerian group whatsapp and here on Nairaland who may be able to offer you CAD in exchange for Naira. They deposit CAD into your Canadian account, while you in turn deposit Naira into their Nigerian account. It can be very effective and usually happens relatively faster than international wire. However, it's important you deal with someone trustworthy here. Usually, there are friends who can refer you to someone they've had dealings with who is trustworthy.

You need to go back to part 1 to understand Maternal. Ignore his insults and pick his advice. He is like that. If you like form a group against him, he is not moved. That is just him.
Honestly that's just complete balderdash. That he is "like that" is no justification for replying the man that way. The advice could have been conveniently saved if it was going to come at the cost of belittlement. Now that we know even how sensitive the man's situation is, we see how wrong on so many levels the response was. It just isn't acceptable.

The scenario is Passport & PR Visa expires June. Travel date is last week of March. Is this a problem as passport validity will be less than 6 months. If it is, does CIC need to be contacted after passport renewal or just travel with the new & old passport that has the visa.
You needn't worry about the six-month rule for Canada. It's one of the countries in the world to which you can travel as long as your passport is valid.

First, If you read back, I said "in many cases" which infers non-absolution. I also did say planes with no engines are gliders.

Second, planes do glide quite well (especially when fuel is dumped to reduce weight), which counters the impression most people have that unpowered planes fall like a rock out of the sky.

Third, if you read the accident report of the Dana crash of 2012, you'll know that though they lost both engines the crash was largely as a result of poor crew resource management occasioned by pilot error.

In a lot of cases, planes that encountered engine losses or flameouts near or at 300FL can reduce altitude and glide to the nearest Airport. Many commercial flights are ETOPS compliant, placing their flight paths near airports in case of emergency.

Indeed, historically, many crashes are as a result of pilot error.

Yes, the primary reason for the Dana Air crash may have been as a result of poor CRM. The fact remains that once the pilot made the decision to keep going and subsequently lost the second engine just outside the Lagos skies, the plane had nowhere else to go. And while it may have glided well, it could not have been glided to safety. Aviation experts are quick to blame pilot error for most crashes since pilots are after all the only human component in the operating system, but it is important to note that sometimes even pilot expertise cannot make a crash avoidable. A gliding plane doesn't just need a good pilot, as you may think. It also needs a lot of luck and clear skies.

Even with 2 engines gone planes still glide and can, in many cases, be safety guided to land ..even though the landing is usually hard.

Certainly not in many cases. A plane with no engines is no more than a glider. With no landing space in sight, it'll more often than not end in tragedy. The 2012 Dana flight which crashed in Lagos glided to its end.
Only a sparse handful of planes which lost two engines had a positive end.

And this is what I have been saying from the outset

Naturally I wouldn't like to get into this argument, but I think you are getting some things wrong. I'd wager that's because of your cultural (or religious?) background, so it's almost acceptable. However, it doesn't mean that you are correct.

It seems you believe that being gay is a western concept totally foreign to Africa. This isn't true. Many of those who are homosexual are innately so. They didn't chose to be that way. And this attribute cuts across race, sex and gender. It has very little to do with being white or being black and more to do with being human. Of course, you may choose to not believe this, but it doesn't make it wrong. All you need do is spend some time with those who are homosexual and you'll discover they didn't chose to be that way. If they had a choice, they'd love very much to be "normal" like everyone else. Who would love to be incessantly discriminated against!? But it wasn't a choice they could make. I know a handful of Nigerians who are gay and they didn't need to spend time in a western country to be that way.

Your position would have been totally innocent, except you aren't admitting there's a twist to it. For someone like you who preaches respect, but secretly disapproves of their lifestyle, you run the risk of denying them their right to freedom of expression. Were you to vote, for instance, in Canada on a referendum that greatly affects this set of people, you may allow your imported cultural background to influence your decision. Yet you take shelter for own yourself under the same constitutional freedom offered to all. That's not exactly fair. Perhaps also, if you were in a position to maybe rent out a room to them, you may refuse to because "their actions disgust you." That's even discriminatory. Yet, in the same vein you'll find it untenable that a white house owner would deny an immigrant black family an apartment because he doesn't want them around him.

I agree with you that there are aspects of Nigerian (or African) culture that are good and that we all must preserve or introduce to our new society. Some are strong enough to render change and in fact improve conditions in our new environment. But I strongly disagree that labeling homosexuality disgusting is one of these. That's no more because homosexuality is simply not one man's culture than it is because it is actually disgusting. For all I know, if thoughts were not as stifled in Nigeria as it is, many of my homosexual friends would speak up.

Always the double standard...
The judgement is always applied according to the race of a person.
If you are white you shall live else ...

White people never integrate anywhere in the world. They would go different places to make changes. Whereas minorities are even forced to accept and view things like homosexuality, same-sex marriage or transgender as common way of life. Those are things our ancestors knew nothing about.

By the way, as a Canadian citizen I respect gays people even though I dont agree with homosexuality. The Canadian culture is all about dealing with mutual respect even when we don't agree on something.
I agree with most of the points you are making. But you should know homosexuality or being queer is not Canadian or western culture. That's not the right way to look at it.

The criminality of the Third World makes for fancy reading.

As if it is not cringe worthy enough, in this time and age, that there are vermins who still believe that human sacrifice can bring wealth.

We are then reminded of how steeped they are in savagery when jungle justice is the go-to tool for reparation.

A dysfunctional society that has no faith in available remedial release will create and institute one for itself- via violence.
Succinctly and eloquently expressed!

it's not "just for a speeding ticket". It's mainly for lying and for trying to frame an innocent man for the crime. Even after she has been exposed as a liar, she has refused to admit her wrong. I'm guessing she truly deserves this then.

boss I applied for EIT instead. You can apply for P.Eng if you wish, if everything checks out, you be given a deferred approval ie you would be given 2years to get the 1yr canadian work experience before they proceed with other steps. If you fail to get it before the two years, your application would be cancelled and you would have to start afresh. Note: the two years starts counting from the day you submit your application and it typically takes 6months for them to review and reach a decision to place you on hold.
Thanks!

Irrespective of the number of years of experience you have from Naija as an Engineer, you need a minimum of one year practicing and doing engineering duties in same role of your discipline to be considered for a P.Eng license. Having said that, I will advice you start of on arrival as an EIT as that will afford you good time to scout the engineering jobs related to discipline to gain the needed minimum of a year experience for the P.ENg application and you as well can write your professional exam during that period also.

cc: einsteino, this information may be useful after your excursion around choice destinations. You may also consider voyaging on Titanic II which is set to sail in 2022
Yeah, you are mostly right. But one can also apply as Licensee without needing Canadian experience, don't you think?

einsteino:
Hello Engineers in the house. Pls, I have converted my ECA to WES ICAP, I am about submitting my application to APEGA. I am torn between applying for EIT or P.Eng. I have a B.Eng and more than the required 4years work experience, which according to APEGA's website, makes me eligible to apply for P.Eng.

However I am not certain if they wouldn't strike a number of years off the experience, seeing that I don't have any Canadian experience or Canadian Degree. Also, from Job Postings, I noticed in the abscence of a P.Eng License, I am left with no choice than to apply for Junior/Entry level Jobs and these usually require one to be registered as an EIT.

Please what do y'all think? Do I take the gamble with the P.Eng or start off with EIT?

@Einsteino, What did you finally decide on here? I have found myself in the same situation pretty much.

Dear All,

I intend to do a short landing soon. However, I plan to visit the US during my stay. I would like to know how to go about this given that my PR card won't be ready before I leave for the US.

Thank you
Faced the same prob. Your immigrant Visa is only one entry, so you can't reuse it. I asked a Canada Border Services officer and according to him, CBS has no prob letting you back in with your COPR. That however doesn't mean the airline/US officers will accept that. Your PR card is what they'll want to see. So, in summary, you may not be able to regain entry into Canada.
