Family › Re: Help, A Married Woman Refuses To Leave My House, How Can I Send Her Away? by cococandy(f): 10:54pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
You're kidding right? Can't she go find a room to rent? So she won't survive if she's not living off someone? Mtchewwwww. All the time she's been at her sister's house she should have been on the look out for place to rent and even move out of her sister's house. Her sister's hubby sent her out and you're her last hope? If you like give her belle too and complicate your life the more. Maybe lose your fiancée in the process too. Pls at the risk of saying the obviousl, tell her to pack and go. What do you really need advice one? olola4: It started around February, this woman happens to be a colleague at work but is 3year old marriage broke(with 2 kids)and her husband who I know as a very aggressive man (on the day he came to visit his wife at the office, I think he came to give her something he almost slap the security officer who was asking him what he came to do) sent the wife out of the house. After the husband have sent the wife away the only option the wife(my colleague at work) have is to move to the residence of her elder sister who happened to be my own neighbour in the same flat.
At first the only thing I do is to drop her children at school and carry her along to the office, later since am still single and am the only one leaving in my flat except sometimes when my fiancee or my younger brother come spend some days/weeks in my place, she started coming to my flat to watch film, she said her sister didnt subscribe and she is missing her favourite T.V. programs and opera, later she started watching film over night and now she is now leaving in my flat with the excuse that her sister's husband send her packing.
The problem now is that my fiancee cant come over to my place, i have to always lie to her that am not at home, and the woman herself is seducing me by wearing tight inside the house, also am the one to buy everything including foodstuffs and provisions even toothpaste.
The day I sat her down and told her that am not comfortable with her staying with me she was crying and when her one year old daughter saw her crying she also started crying and also she brings visitors which I hate, this will make me be like a stranger in my house.
pls fellow nairalander i need your advice. |

Stillfire: Nigeria is patriarchal and all these occur, so I don't get your point. How do you explain a case like Nigeria, that is evidently so patriarchal, ruled by Nigerian men since independence and totally being destroyed by men at the moment? If anything Nigerian Patriarchy is destroying itself (to my pleasure of course) since it has been unable to curb its excesses and create a better place for women and children. At least your African forefathers despite the society being patrilineal had the foresight of putting up structures that did not silence the voice of the African woman, but since the colonialists came in from a region that regarded womanhood as disfigured images of men, you men gladly helped them destroy these female structures. Even the colonialists have abandoned these demeaning ideals and their societies are better than yours. So how has this Nigeria's demonic patriarchy benefited our society?
This surely doesn't look like men who have gone 'soft', lmao.
Many men – including fathers – bear the burden of an inherited historical arrogance and superiority over women. I see it everyday when I watch a man say sexist remarks at an ordinary woman going about her business or on social media. And, of course, I see it in myself. We can't just come to terms with the fact that a woman can employ you, pay you, serve you a querry, or sack you when she wants.
Lmao. At least you are being honest here that women have now been empowered, it is left for you as men to learn how to adapt to the empowered woman. @bold is what I see some don't understand. When you actually say something against the staunch and abused partriachy that followed the colonialist to Africa, they will say you're being westernized? Who's westernized really? I'd say it's the person who's forgotten or doesn't know what their old life used it be like and has adopted the white man's old and discarded ways 100percent. |

mentorandfriend: Whether uncultured, or the nascent trend of acculturation problem, the fault is clearly with fathers who have become soft, or worse even... silent in raising the kids, in taking their place as authorities in the home; as mothers become super mums and shoulder it all. The dangerous teenage boys who rule the hood, kill and maim without conscience is clearly a fault that should be led at the feet of weak and/or silent fathers. That was the point of the post. I see your point. I do question your choice of words though. I think being responsible and setting good examples for your children to follow is the operative phrase here and not really anything about softness. A soft man can still be a good dad. Temperaments differ: A good and exemplary man is most likely to raise good kids ditto for a woman. Blaming it on feminism is skewed to say the least. Feminism does not ask you to be irresponsible and not be a father to your kids. And only in the mind of someone who's made up their minds not to understand will it mean that respecting and regarding your wife as your equal will lead to raising bad children. Unless I'm in another planet, it is the direct opposite that leads to people raising disturbed sons who have no respect for their women and can't stand differing opinions as they have been raised entitled with no accommodation for the POV of others. However I strongly agree with you on the wake-up call to father. It is long overdue. I'd say the same for mothers but I guess that would require a different thread. |

Awww Is it unfortunate too that the woman is expected to be an equal player in the home support? My dear there's nothing wrong with equality at all except for those who wish to label something else as equality in their dictionary. I saw you mentioned some thing about the fathers now doing dishing and women doing the shouting in the home as if it were a role reversal of sorts. In a sane environment, should anybody's role involve shouting or yelling? Whether he be the head or she be the new head as per what feminism is causing? Abeg that's uncultured people attitude and had nothing to do with partriachy or feminism. mentorandfriend: I agree with you that there's nothing wrong in a man cooking and washing plates. But there is this recent trend of aculturation of our cherished traditional values; a situation where the woman sees it not as a favour, but as a duty of the man to share kitchen cores with her equally, since they're in it together. One sad drawback of equality in the home.
I frown at it same way I will frown at a man who sees it not as a favour, but as the responsibilty of the woman to contribute more money to running the household, to be the breadwinner of the home. Both are misnomers. |

francizy: Hehehehe, I don't really care whether she does it in that 7 star hotel in Dubai or inside an empty cesspit, cheating is cheating.. To me there's a small difference. At least the culprit should show a little finesse or class. All these pregnant mad women, where do you think it happened? When they get used to doing it in dirty incomplete houses, the next thing na to find mad woman give belle. Ajo ihe. It's easier on the ears to what that your spouse was seen in a hotel with someone else than he or she was caught in one incomplete building. |

francizy: Does doing it in a hotel room make it less abominable? That's not the issue jare. What's bad is bad. But in an incomplete building like mad people? So in addition to doing something bad, they did it mad people style. That's double wahala. Imagine someone cheating on you in an incomplete building. You won't just be hurt, you will embarrassed too. Like 'did I marry a mad person?' |

Family › Re: Opinion: Stop Using Physical Force On Nigerian Kids by cococandy(f): 4:30pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
100 GeneralShepherd: Yesterday, I had a conversation with my friends about using physical force to correct kids.
I was not really surprise that many of my friends were corrected with physical force when they were younger. However, I was shocked that many said they will use physical force (gentle spanking) to correct their kids.
This is very troublesome because we have tried physical force and quite frankly it doesn't work. The level of crime and social injustice in Nigeria suggests that corporal punishment is ineffective.
Yes you get immediate results as a parent, however you are teaching your child that it is okay to express their displeasure and frustrations with physical force.
It has been proven by the research that it unbalances the child's emotions. This makes the child fear higher powers and have total disregard for those under him or her.
This clearly shows itself in the way Nigerians relate with their superiors and subordinates at work.
I personally have never hit my dogs and I have three. Why I should then hit my kid?
Madness is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Let's stop correcting Nigerian children with physical force.

Chidoks: After marriage is sweeter joor. at this point you are the center of his plans.life is not about partying and clubbing or even 'fast fooding' there is much joy in the guy seeking your opinion on how to invest, how to dress, how much to spend on feeding, what car to buy, how to manage his assets.there is nothing as sweet as he saying 'we' when he's discussing about most private issues of his life with you instead of the former 'I' You got it down babes |
