Basilico I tried my best to summarize but you can search each of those names and read extensively about their individual cases and what sentences they’re currently serving or have served. There’s no reality in which this many drag queens or LGBTQ people would be sexually assaulting children to this degree that you people wouldn’t have marched in the streets with pitch forks. But you look the other way when it’s a man of God. I’m sick of it. This year (2022), at least 10 Texas pastors, former pastors and youth ministers were arrested, charged or convicted for various allegations of sexual abuse of children.
In November, 56-year-old David Lloyd Walther, a pastor for the Faith Baptist Church in Round Rock, was arrested for the distribution, receipt, transportation and possession of child pornography,
In the same month, a 31-year-old former student minister at the Champion Forest Baptist Church in Harris County was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to online sexual abuse of a child.
Timothy Jason Jeltema pleaded guilty on November 17 to four charges of online sexual abuse of a minor—including one charge of indecency with a child—one charge of sexual performance by a child and two counts of online solicitation of a minor which were initially brought against him in 2018, according to the Baptist Press.
In July, 48-year-old Chad Michael Rider, of Anna, was convicted in the Eastern District of Texas for assisting former Denison pastor David Pettigrew produce child pornography.
In the same month, pastor William C. Robinson, who at the time was working for Chi Alpha Campus Ministries in Corpus Christi, was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Also in July, Brian Pounds, a 45-year-old minister at First Assembly of God in Vernon, North Texas, was charged with sexual assault of a child and delivery of a controlled substance to a minor, according to Vernon police.
Baytown pastor Lawrence Hopkins was arrested in late June with the charge of soliciting a minor online, according to Montgomery District Attorney's Office.
In April, the Nashville-based Southern Baptist news service Baptist Press reported that youth pastor Conner Jesse Penny, 32, had been arrested on three counts of sexual abuse related to a minor.
In March, pastor's son and Conroe church worship leader Jonathan Ryan Ensey, 37, was found guilty of victimizing a congregant by committing indecency with a child and online solicitation of a minor.
In January, Aaron Duane Shipman, the 44-year-old lead pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Odessa, was charged with assaulting a teenage girl for years, beginning when she was 16.
In the same month, 61-year-old Houston-area pastor Conrad Estrada Valdez was charged of sexual assault of a child between the ages of 14 and 17, as reported by ABC.
On December 1, a former youth pastor at a Southern Baptist church in Missouri was charged with six child abuse-related charges.
In May, a document released by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) revealed the case of more than 700 Baptist leaders—including pastors, teachers, ministers and volunteers—accused or found guilty of sexual abuse of children.
The 205-page document, which looks at cases dating back to a period between 2000 and 2009, details the arrests and—sometimes—sentencing of Baptist leaders found guilty of sexual assaults, soliciting children, child pornography and more.
According to SBC, the list is the result of an internal investigation by Guidepost Solutions aimed at uncovering the cover-ups of cases of sexual assaults which were allegedly kept quiet by the church's higher-ups. |

This is one diocese alone. If you guys cared about children the way you claim to, we would know by now. Sadly they’re just another political tool when you are trying to get votes. As soon as you get your votes, you rally behind proven child abusers and pretend like you don’t know what they do. In a statement released Tuesday, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests called the report “stunning” but emphasized that the numbers of victims and abusers cited by state investigators are likely undercounted.
“There is no questioning the facts of the report — until 2018 when the investigation began, hierarchs in every Illinois diocese kept known abusers under wraps, declined to include them on their accused lists, and refused to acknowledge the truth that survivors of abuse who came forward to make a report shared with them,” the group said. “It is to us, in a word, disgusting that these supposed shepherds would lie so blatantly.”
Similar government-led investigations detailing reports of clergy sexual abuse and church leaders’ failure to hold perpetrators accountable have rocked archdioceses in other states, including Pennsylvania and Maryland. The preliminary report conducted under Madigan found that the dioceses had done a woefully inadequate job of investigating allegations. Raoul, too, accused Catholic leaders of making decisions and policies that “allowed known child sex abusers to hide, often in plain sight.”
In its statement Tuesday, SNAP also called on other attorneys general and prosecutors to initiate similar investigations of Catholic dioceses under their authority.
“For many survivors, secular investigations like this will open an area for new conversations, healing among fellow victims, and assisting communities to comprehend the horrors of their past and the risk of their present,” the group said. “When the legal system fails to provide victims with justice, statewide investigations can assist citizens and survivors in communicating essential facts about the global scourge of child sexual abuse.”

basilico: I'm not sure whether you intentionally gaslight because you actually argue that white colour is really black , naming is just a convention. Logically, who is most likely a paedophile . Someone pushing to ban abortion or someone pushing to enshrine it and make it so easily available even without parental consent. Guessing you have around a 7 - 10 year old kid you'd be more worried if kid goes to a bible study than to a drag show. I don’t need your logic and your guesses. The stats are not in alignment with your stance. Show me one drag queen that has this many criminal sex charges against them. I’ll wait. Because If they exist you people would have demanded that the entire community of drag queens to be executed. This here is only one pastor and there are thousands like him in America. The documents also said that John Radcliff was “a preacher and led a youth ministry” and was either related to or “viewed as a father figure” to the five child victims. One of the victims also said “she knows there were more victims but cannot remember their names” and said “there were at least 13 others,” according to court documents.
John Radcliff has been charged with the following counts in Lewis, Braxton and Harrison counties:
56 counts of Sexual Assault 1st Degree 15 counts of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree 63 counts of Sexual Abuse by Parent or Guardian 56 counts of Incest 1 count of Display of Obscene Material to a Minor According to the complaints filed in Lewis County, additional charges were also filed in Braxton and Harrison counties, but 12 News was not able to obtain those criminal complaints due to a West Virginia law related to the release of information about sexual crimes. John was booked in the Central Regional Jail on Tuesday and is being held on $1.7 million bail. He was also charged with eight felony counts in Nicholas County in September 2024. |

But we trust religious leaders and let our kids go around them unsupervised because we believe they are righteous. This gives them the freedom to do whatever they want. Knowing that it’s harder for people to believe they can be such bad people. Don’t ask me where kids are more likely to get abused at. Show me the stats Stats of kids getting abused at rock concerts and Diddy-like parties in comparison to sexual abuse in the churches/mosques. Before you misquote me. I haven’t said kids can’t get abused anywhere else but in the religious community. It’s unfortunately still legal in many states because there’s no national law precisely banning it. So parents are expected to use their discretion when giving permission and also up to the jurisdiction of the court. If a child under 18 wants to get married and their parents refuse, they may not be able to get married. If the parents agree, then the court can review the circumstances and decide if to grant the marriage or not. But get this, most of them can’t get a divorce until they are 18. Is that not madness? A country that hasn’t outrightly banned child marriage in all states is busy staying distracted by useless culture wars. Is that not the height of misplaced priorities? AmazonTopaz: Republicans in New Hampshire voted to approve child marriage.

basilico: Leftists are more likely to be paedophiles has been my submission for many years. I am sorry to let you know that your submission has no relevance in the face of facts. Even your beloved Fox News can’t hide this known fact. You guys think that because you disagree with the lifestyles of other people, you can disparage them with propaganda. There will be child abusers on either side of aisle. But statistically they’ll gravitate towards the right because the right protects them when they are exposed. The left will usually not give such people any platforms. But That’s not the case in your party. You’re willing to overlook anything no matter how horrendous as long as the said person is willing to move the party agenda forward. The list is endless. If I were to quote you with every single article where a religiously leader was credibly found guilty of child sex crimes, we would never leave here. I don’t even talk about the Muslims because theirs is out in the open with child marriages. Contents ·
ABSTRACT
Sexual abuse within religious settings has been the focus of various media coverage for nearly fifty years (Bailey, 2013; Rezendes, 2002). However, this topic received renewed attention over the past two decades with the bombshell report of widespread sexual abuse and cover-up within the Roman Catholic Church, as detailed by the The Boston Globe (Rezendes, 2002). The story of this groundbreaking news report was later the focus of the 2016 Academy Award Best Picture-winning movie Spotlight (2015). An extensive investigation into the sexual abuses found an estimated 16,000 victims involving 3,700 Roman Catholic clergies (Bishop Accountability, 2011). It has also been reported that the Roman Catholic Church has paid over $3 billion to victim compensation and related expenditures (Abuse Lawsuit, 2021). As a result, individuals began questioning the extent of sexual abuse in other prominent religious settings, such as Protestant Christian churches.
Protestant Christianity refers to nearly every denomination of Christianity not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, such as the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and United Methodists. From a sheer numerical standpoint, American Protestant Christian congregations substantially outweigh the number of physical Catholic churches and even individual members within the United States. Specifically, the Roman Catholic Church has 17,000 parishes and 51 million members (Masci & Smith, 2018) compared to the estimated 314,000 Protestant Christian congregations and 60 million members (Grammich et al., 2012; Pew Research Center, 2007). Moreover, Protestant Christian congregations are not generally organized by a global or national structure. The Roman Catholic Church's hierarchical structure allowed for the cover-up and subsequent discovery of widespread sexual abuse. Consequently, instances of sexual abuse within Protestant Christianity might appear isolated when they could be part of a larger overall pattern of offender and offending behaviors.
Some estimates exist on the total instances of sexual abuse within Protestant Christian churches. One estimate comes from three of the largest faith-based insurance companies1 that insure nearly 160,000 churches. These three faith-based insurance companies reported 7,095 insurance claims of sexual abuse by clerical members, church employees, congregation members, or others involved within these settings from 1987 to 2007 (The Associated Press, 2007). These reports indicate an average of 260 claims of sexual abuse per year. In addition, Denney, Kerley, and Gross (2018) published one of the first empirical studies on sexual abuse in the U.S. within Protestant Christian settings that examined news articles reporting on arrests involving sexual abuse, finding 326 total cases reported from 1999 to 2014. Most recently, the Houston Chronicle published a series titled "Abuse of Faith," uncovering sexual abuse and cover-up within the largest Protestant Christian organization in the U.S. (i.e., the SBC). They identified 380 sexual abusers and 700 alleged victims over 20 years (Downen, Olsen, & Tedesco, 2019). Moreover, Downen et al. (2019) found that 35 Southern Baptist ministers were hired at churches, despite being accused of sexual misconduct or abuse, demonstrating a pattern of institutional issues in responding to alleged sexual abuse.

FoolishBoy419: I get your point now. Indeed, Almajiri schools and other Islamic schools have that problem. That's why it was so easy for Yusuf to gather so many followers and start a terrorist group. The republicans are following a similar path I’ll edit my post to specify almajiri schools. That way we can focus on what the republicans are doing instead of debating about northern Nigeria. Thanks for correcting me |

Right. But I also don’t want any of the detractors to try to take away from the merit of what I was saying because I wasn’t 100% accurate on my description of northern Nigeria. You know they will leave the meat of the matter to start focusing on that. Especially when they don’t have any convincing counter argument to make. GloriousGbola: You are still right on multiple fronts.
Western Education has never been prioritised up north which is why they may as well be what project 2025 is aiming for a society where a very very very large percentage of the population are uneducated and think in binary terms. It is also why to this day they rely on youth Corpers (who are not trained to be teachers) to fill some of the larger gaps.
Yes there are educated northerners but what percentage of the total population are they? They are already there. |

IjeBos: Interesting, I never considered the first part of the post since the the concept is so foreign to me. I grew up very religious (still a believer) but can see the first for the trees after so many years of propaganda. They will hide and transfer a priest/pastor who sexually abuses children before they will soil the name of the church. And then they come to church on Sunday and tell you this right wing party is on the side of Christians. If you’re interested in messing with children, tell me which side you’d rather support? They feel safe amongst the Republicans. The women won’t protect the children from sexual predators among them. They are either too afraid of stepping out their role as submissive partners or they outrightly believe it’s male nature and that the children or their parents have the sole responsibility of ensuring they don’t get abused. Then they try to get ahead of it by spreading stories about how drag queens are a danger to kids when the danger lives and flourishes amongst them. |

Governors and locals are better at identifying what's good for their states than a bureaucracy run by rich men north of Richmond. Right. And then it can be run in the same pattern as the northerners in Nigeria run their almajiri schools. No standardized curriculum. Gather the kids and teach them some religious leaders’ opinions as the fact of life. Remove anything from the curriculum that doesn’t support religious beliefs. Revise history and teach them only the parts that conform to white nationalist ideals. Like they are currently telling kids that slaves were paid and many enjoyed being brought from Africa to a civilized country. Ridiculous |

IjeBos: But, why are so many MAGA influencers pedophiles and rapists? The Venn diagram of people who believe old men are justified in having sexual desire for children because mature women over 25 years old are washed out and “overused”, that conservative values such as man on top woman at the bottom should be the norm, that anything outside of strict gender roles is of the devil but child abuse is tolerable etc is usually a circle. Occasionally there may be outliers (obviously) but far and away they will often gravitate towards the Republican side. It’s observable time and time again. That’s why they are anti-education for the poor masses. Education teaches you empathy because you learn about communities that you have been brainwashed to dislike and you are able to see everyone as people who are just walking a different path than you. Think of it as almajiri system in the north and the whole western education is haram rhetoric but the American version. Two sides of the same coin. |

Shutting down the Department of Education before tackling school shootings is a weird display of misplaced priorities. And you guys voted for this? Shame on all of you who support this.
Children with IEPs and 504s can no longer get the appropriate help they need. Poor kids in poor neighborhoods will now be punished more than they already are because they chose the wrong parents I guess.
College will now be for the rich. Which I guess is the plan all along. Less educated masses means more votes for republicans.
This is greatness in its purest form. Leave the physically and mentally disabled children out of federal funding. Who cares about them? When we can just focus on healthy kids from rich families and make sure they get vouchers to go private Christian schools where they will be taught the 10 commandments and that vaccines are a mark of the beast.
A whole fvcking shame.

Elon face your business and leave our healthcare and retirement money alone. Thief. Ole buruku. Charging hundreds of thousands for a truck and the panel is attached with cheap glue Nearly All Cybertrucks Have Been Recalled Because Tesla Used the Wrong Glue Tesla says it will fix the sticky issue—which could cause panels to detach from trucks while driving—with a new adhesive “not prone to environmental embrittlement.”
Tesla said Thursday it would recall nearly all the Cybertrucks it has produced to repair a stainless steel trim panel that the carmaker said could become detached from the vehicle while driving. It’s the eighth recall for the distinctive all-electric pickup, which hit US roads just over two years ago.
Unlike many other Tesla-related recalls, though, this one cannot be fixed with an over-the-air software update, and must be brought into a service center for repairs. The recall affects more than 46,000 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 2023 and late February 2025.
The recall is related to a cosmetic applique on the vehicle’s exterior, which is attached to the rest of the truck by a kind of glue, according to a filing published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US’ road safety regulator. On affected Cybertrucks, the adhesive can separate from the rest of the truck, creating a possible “road hazard” for others and increasing the risk of a crash

I read another article where the government was using AI to comb through the social media posts of Visa holders in the US to find 'evidence' to deport them. I can see that tool being used at point of entries as well. Opens the door to a lot of first amendment issues esp. what type of speech would be impermissible to be denied entry/visa or be deported for.
Honestly, in this environment, if I was a visa holder or had a green card, I would refrain from all social media. I didn't get my US citizenship until I was 24 though I was eligible years earlier. We had protests in college, took over a building, I had an article published in the Boston Globe. In this environment I would never be that active given I did all that with a green card. |

Here is how they define gang member and gang associate. By that policy and saying horns are a gang symbol, it seems Ted Cruz would be a gang associate as well. Well given Republicans these days, may not be far off. It's funny but also something all non citizens should be aware of. The trump Administration believes you can be tagged a gang member and deported without any Judicial review by the view of any ICE agent based on the criteria below.
https://www.ice.gov/doclib/foia/policy/handbook_HSI_18-03_08.13.2018.pdf 3.4 Gang Member A gang member is an individual who admits to being in a gang or who has a gang-related conviction. A gang member may also be an individual who exhibits two or more of the “ICE Gang Membership Identification Criteria” with at least one having occurred within the previous 5 years (see Section 3.3 above and Section II of Appendix A). Admission or a gang-related conviction are the only criteria that do not require a second criteria listed in the “ICE Gang Membership Identification Criteria.”

“Freedom of opinion, free research and academic freedom are values we will continue to proudly uphold,” Mr. Baptiste said in a statement. “I will defend the possibility for all French researchers to be faithful to them, in compliance with the law, wherever they may be in the world.”
Mr. Baptiste did not identify the scientist who was turned away but said that the academic was working for France’s publicly funded National Center for Scientific Research and had been traveling to a conference near Houston when border officials stopped him
