mayor whatever, are you better than Paul "scanner" Danner? He even wrote a book about these things, the book is called ENGINE MANAGEMENT DIAGNOSTICS, buy it, every reader is a leader, it is very clear I ahead of you guys. I have an alldata account, also Mitchell 1 account holder, I mean, I didn't want anybody to know but you guys made me spill the story |
king rein and eric whatever whatever, I hate too much talk now watch how REAL professionals do it you quacks, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuod8-zFSQ4&itct=CCcQpDAYASITCPqn8eK2yMwCFddrHAodZk8Pi1IlaG93IHRvIHVzZSB3YXRlciB0byBmaW5kIHZhY3V1bSBsZWFrcw%3D%3D&client=mv-google&gl=US&hl=en https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI2o9YNZ2Y0&itct=CCUQpDAYAiITCPqn8eK2yMwCFddrHAodZk8Pi1IlaG93IHRvIHVzZSB3YXRlciB0byBmaW5kIHZhY3V1bSBsZWFrcw%3D%3D&client=mv-google&gl=US&hl=en https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxRBViOV6DE&itct=CB0QpDAYBiITCPqn8eK2yMwCFddrHAodZk8Pi1IlaG93IHRvIHVzZSB3YXRlciB0byBmaW5kIHZhY3V1bSBsZWFrcw%3D%3D&client=mv-google&gl=US&hl=en What you don't know is greater than you are. None of you proffered any solution to the op instead the mayor whatever whatever mocked him, and that is where all this nonsense started, we are all here to learn, if you find something strange ask questions, that is what makes you people humans! |
the best scan tool costs more than $20,000 (US), but all I need is Autel maxidas ds708 as a scan tool, then an oscilloscope and common sense, other tools are included too |
mayor2013:what is a complete diagnostic tool? |
mayor2013:well one thing is that you lack the ability to read and comprehend, I use the scan tool to know exactly what the ECU is doing, then, if its a vacuum leak I use a smoke machine or any other means available to pinpoint where the leak is happening. |
erico2k2:please go back to my earlier posts, |
erico2k2:so its only the know sensor you see? |
mayor2013:any way there is a whole economy built upon the fact that the regular Joe will see an O2 code and run to buy an 02 sensor, I test the O2 sensor thoroughly before changing it, not after changing it, it come back to bit me. But wait, what does it take to know if there is a vacuum leak, if you don't know how to do it you ask, na wa for African mechanics |
all the codes the op listed affects the fuel trim on one way or the other, when there is a vacuum leak it means there is unmetered air that made it into the engine, the fuel trim will adjust for that excess air which is verified by the o2 sensors by adding more fuel, I mean prolonging the injector pulses, till the mixture returns to the STOICIOMETRY, it shows that, when the stft begins to increase in percentage, whuch the ltft will follow later, at idle a vacuum leak is more evident, because there is little air inside the engine, but at WOT there is way more air and the ECU knows its a WOT so there will be longer injector pulses, with will diminish the effects of the excess air, so when you push down the throttle pedal and you see an improvement on the fuel trim, definitely it is a vacuum leak, and all these happen at close loop. If you throttle the car and the fuel trim gets worse, it is either a dirty MAF or not enough fuel is making it, this car might be running rich, we don't know, how do you know what the ECU is doing? is it not the fuel trim? Which is gotten from the live data. All I want you guys to know is this, yes you have the code, but it is not enough, freer frame data and live data must be among, for proper diagnosis. That sets you apart from the shade tree mechanics, you are a scientist, not a cut and nail Id1ot |
mayor2013:then how come you say live data is useless? Or you don't know what fuel trim is all about, have you forgotten the stoichiometric ratio of car engines? |
erico2k2:before I start, what do you think LTFT and STFT are? |
mayor2013:yes carb cleaner is good but don't go near the ignition coils with that, if not you will set the whole thing on fire, |
erico2k2:I said in some instances, ice on the intake manifold, after the MAF, you can use water, trust me As for the knock sensor, will you vomit a knock sensor? When he goes to buy the sensor, you use the time to do other diagnosis. I use the live data to give myself a direction, and to verify the fix, where would I be without the live data? it is very invaluable, trust me. Now what do you know about LTFT and STFT? no expo, no googling. Look I work smart not hard. |
erico2k2:read and comprehend, I use live data to get a direction, not to trace, i mean what da fvck is wrong with you, your son cannot run to you saying daddy I lost it, daddy I lost it, then you start to run around the house looking for it. You must ask him first, what is it you lost? It shows that you believe scan tools are for pulling codes only, only quacks do that. |
erico2k2:yes, but you know what is called the stoichiometric ratio of car engines, and what is called the fuel trim, if you understand these two, then you are a real professional, look there are times when there is a leak but it is not enough to set a code, but clearly the engine is running rough, because the fuel trim has not gotten to the threshold where it will set a code, so what did yo do in such situations? Allow a rival to do the job? because you don't know what hell is going on, by no means, The ability to read and interpret live data is what sets a professional from a quack. But bear in mind that vacuum leaks DON'T always set a DTC, sometimes it gives you an o2 sensor fault code, because the excess air make it read lean all the time. Sometimes it may be running rich, infact you should Google fuel trim to know better. To detect a leak is easy when you have the right tools, ie a smoke machine, even water can be used in some instances. |
princemillla:Go to a technician that can read and interprete the live data, and understands what fuel trim is all about, so he can pin point what the problem( is ) (are) don't go about swapping parts. |
mayor2013:if you mean it, then little wonder you are saying this, any ways Google is your friend. |
mayor2013:You use the scan tool's live data to diagnose the problem, and get a direction, don't you know how to use the live data? Abi you use only a code reader, I use the Autel maxidas ds708. It is a dealer level scan tool not a simple code puller. |
the match is so dull, and boring. |
justwise:we are saying the same thing, but different ways. |
justwise:schooling? is it? |
justwise:can you read? Yes, can you write? Yes, that is education. |
erico2k2:You don't know how trickish, this vacuum leak is, sometimes, it will be clear that the engine has a problem, but no codes, do you know why? For a clue, do you know what generic means? |
mayor2013:I am not saying that it is definitely a vacuum leak, knock sensor fault can happen, but the car consumes too much fuel, so, with my experience, I will first of all check if it's a vacuum leak, using the scan tool, it takes 10 seconds, if it's not a vacuum leak, I will get a definite direction, in chasing the problem instead of chasing my tail round and round. |
justwise:What is education? That is the question you should ask, I for example did not attend any university anywhere on this planet, so, will you say I am uneducated? |
mayor2013:Nope, I believe it's only a vacuum leak. This powertrain obd (engine management system) is generic. So one condition can set so many codes. |
good but if you can get a live data, it will be better, it's gotten from the scan also |
patlead:simple, wow! sometimes it is really simple. But is the fuse burnt, melted or black in color? If yes then the fuel pump is taking too much current, if no, then it is just age or something not serious. |
sdkalu:I am not sure your alternator is charging your car, Get a multimeter and connect positive to positive and negative to negative, check to see if you r getting 14V, switch on your headlights, Ac on full blast, doors and windows open, and retest, then post your results. |
keezy125:Your car came with a book called owner's manual, right? Read it bro. |
FlyboyZee:Excellent response, they buy cars but don't care to read the owner's manual that comes with it, when they damage something, piam! they go spiritual. |

or are we going to use water too?
