PoliticsRe: Nigeria At Risk Over Falling Oil Price : FG by cocoduck: 10:29am On Oct 27, 2014
kevinaduga:
I don't really care about statistics. But i think it is interesting to know that, on the average, Nigeria generate 900 Billion Naira in revenue every month, from both oil and non oil sources.
It is also note worthy that 70% of Nigerians live below the poverty line, which is close to 2 dollars per day.
My question is if Nigeria generates such huge income every month, then how come the majority of the population is wallowing in poverty?? Really mind boggling! What is the money used for? I don't think it is for the development of this country either. Cos no electricity in my house for the past three days, the generator has been constantly up and running. The road to my house was constructed through the combined efforts of the residents of my street. Public schools are nothing to write home about. Our hospitals are ill equipped. Insecurity is the norm, not the exception..No social security e.t.c. In fact, nothing works in Nigeria.
Seems the 900 billion naira is utilized in funding the lavish lifestyles of our corrupt politicians, clergymen and unscrupulous businessmen.
It is high time we demand that the 900 billion naira be used for what it is actually meant to be used for.
#return our 900 billion naira
point of correction, the number of Nigerians below poverty line is X, (unknown), and it can never be that high, the southeast for example is the area in Africa that has the highest HDI why because of the civil war, people felt that there is nothing for them in the country as per a conquered people, therefore no need to hope on the government for anything which made people to leave that area because most of the facilities have been destroyed during the civil war. True to their feelings the government of the day overlooked that area, necessity is the mother of invention, they had to invent the what they needed by moving out to other areas and engaging in businesses some desperate ones engaged in crime. Now I am currently based in Gabon there was a time Nigerians were hated here but the case is no longer the same. hardly will you hear of a Nigerian a crime highest once or twice in a whole year. none yet that I can remember for 2015.

I hear you Mr Please read before you comment!. In English language what does 'endorse' mean?.
to endorse simply means to agree to give hour support or to say yes this is a good idea.
it doesn't mean that you are actually doing that thing. that is how you fail exams. didn't you do comprehension and synonyms in primary school? That is if I am actually discussing with a grown up.

When I tell people that the FG has a master plan to keep the Nigerian masses poor as a way to ensure their compliance during election, people will say am a conspiracy theorist.

The FG wants to ban Okada, surely before they do this or even propose the ban adequate measures would have been put in place to rehabilate the Okada riders and they ought to have provided alternate means of transport for the Nigerian populace.

Later the FG will start distributing two derica of rice to secure the support of this very people they're made their lives a living hell!.
so okada will make you rich. any way you did not read the entire article.
The minister for transportation merely endorsed the idea. Towards the end he clearly made all and sundry to know that phasing out okadas is a job of the thieving state governments and or local governments.
please read before you comment.

Depends on what the federating units are. If states federate into a country they decide how much of their own revenue to give the central government, while the LGAs also collect their own revenue from which a portion is paid to the state government.
What is ILLOGICAL is for states to expect the FG to pay for their created LGAs.
Na who wan be MUGU huh
I don't believe that. it is the Feds that recognise or declines the LGA created by state governments they will be funded directly from the national treasury. these theives are protesting because they will no longer be able to get so much awoof money any more. corruption fights back when you try to fight it these theives have no human sympathy. the level of corruption at state levels combined is bigger then any thing done at the federal level I support lg autonomy because I know my LGA chairman and his family, even if they cover themselves with kevlar we will still be able to get them and punnish them because we grew up together we see each other almost every day, we have access to them any time any day not how we do now that even a small pot hole we have to wait till the theif say okay do this.
how on earth did they become united in a twinkle of an eye? because they are theives and want to continue stealing.

This is a silly lie to make them look like saints. These people are not amateur thieves. I know the Ikosi LGC alone stole more than all the modest sum put up here. I talk with facts. The man has 4 3storey buildings on Anibaba St. And another 2 3storey by the gate of Ekiti Street plus several mansions inside Magodo. This is someone who was living in a dingy 3bedroom appt on Oluwalogbon just before he became LGC. Now do the evaluation on your own.

Big bellied politicians.
Gold chain around their necks.
Wearing babariga and agbada because they are now big men.

Putting their posters on a newly built road using government funds as if it's a big deal to build roads.

Oppressing others and showing you are now in power.

Speaking in a public occasion and you will always try to make sense of what they are saying.

They went into politics for a wrong reason.
They fought their way in...
Most of them are promiscuous, like thuggery, drunkenness, dishonest and so are unfit to rule.

At the end of the tenure, you will realize they haven't done anything creative or spectacular because they are lazy and have surrounded themselves with lazy people without sense and insight.
The effect of this eventually is mismanagement of funds and fraud.
those are economic hitmen

Good news....If d Federal government can provide steady a electricity,I blve Nigeria would have been a great country in terms of production .
I don't believe it's the job of the first Feds to provide electricity. Even in Gabon where I am currently, the provision of electricity was government controled but they privatised it and sold it to veolia of france. so I don't think Nigeria should be different.

it is like you were born two hours ago. Are you a farmer? what stops you from being one? typical African mentality, always waiting for food is ready. Do you thinks it's free? go into the fields and join others in farming. As for me I am currently outside Nigeria, I used to have a shop but I gave it to somebody else to manage because I wanted to learn auto electricity and electronics and go back to Nigeria and establish myself in Nigeria, I know Nigerians have the money and lot of luxury cars. I want to be in Nigeria right now. There is an over supply of university degrees but jobs that need skills and knowledge do not have many people going into it because of what their teachers and parents wanting to railroad their children into what they do not have the talent or desire of. This is the real reason there is a high youth unemployment.

PoliticsRe: Over-population, Not Corruption, Is Our Greatest Problem by cocoduck: 8:33pm On Oct 19, 2014
Nigeria's problem is not corruption, corruption is merely one of the symptoms of the main problem that is confusion that arises from the fact that our constitution contains the unitary system but wears the toga of federal system, that is why if you check very well you will notice that though there is a bit of corruption at the federal level but the biggest corruption is at the state level And somehow worse at the local level, which is very unfortunate because the local government is the one that is closest to you and I , and look at how the constitution promotes confusion and corruption and god fatherism etc by not allowing the president to dismiss any governor but governors are allowed to sack the local government chairmen and we all know that they are elected by the people and the worst part of it is that they share the same account with the state governors, the governors that are corrupt will simply not fund the local government and embezzle the funds. so that is why I am happy that that will stop in the near future.

Is this a comatose attempt at diverting criticism from your grossly incompetent and corrupt Stella?

Let's fit the right pegs in the right holes please. This is about federal projects here so put each countries at level footing by comparing countries to countries. Stella was responsible for the federal project, not Fashola and since this comparison is with Ghana, face she that was/is responsible.

Stella goofed big time and has created a good excuse for Ghana to give us good pummelling..
that is why I never support APC you Guys are so sentimental by the way Stella is no longer the aviation minister and how does Ghana building an airport mean that they are better than Nigeria ? Tufia GI. It is because of politics is those who think they own Nigeria that a mere airport becomes an issue. Go to the US or Brazil you will see many airports and air fields like bread everywhere. Those airports were built by the private sector and local governments. You are not more Nigerian than I am.
