melvinjames: Please no tribalism on this very important subject.
Igbos want to live anywhere except in Biafra. For a people clamouring for secession, you'd think most Igbos would want to live in Biafra but no. Half of those vituperating on twitter and Nairaland actually live in the SW. One would have thought the first thing to do was to build Biafra and make it an enviable place.
5% of Yorubas live outside Yoruba land 10% of Hausas live outside the north. A whopping percentage of Igbos live outside Igbo land. (about 80%)
What am I not getting? Very good question, they claim to develop everyone space but cannot develop their cities to become envy of other nations in Nigeria. They claim to develop Lagos but cannot develop Enugu, their Eastern capital better than Lagos. They lack human capital and ingenuity to stand alone, only boasting is their trademark. If Hausas and Yorubas chase them away today, you will see how they will crawl on their feets to beg you. They are the real jews of Nigeria aka wanderers. |
Foreign Affairs › The U.k.’s Future May Be In The Hands Of Scotland’s Rebel Youth by cocolacec(op): 9:54am On May 06, 2021 |
The U.K.’s Future May Be in the Hands of Scotland’s Rebel Youth Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he won’t allow another independence referendum, but a bigger threat to the union might be to let the issue fester. Robyn Graham was too young to vote in Scotland’s 2014 independence referendum, and now she’s determined to get her chance in another one. The 19-year-old law and politics student at the University of Glasgow is among a generation of youth for whom the political landscape has been dominated by the constitutional future of the three-centuries-old United Kingdom. To her, it’s not a matter of if, but when Scotland breaks away. “I’m sure we will grow old in an independent Scotland,” said Graham, national secretary of the youth wing of the Scottish National Party, which has run the country’s semi-autonomous government since she was five years old. Scotland heads into an election on May 6 that’s become a pitched battle over whether the nation should get another say on its place in the U.K. after Brexit. Polls predict the pro-independence camp is on course to win big and intensify a standoff with the government in London. The problem for the integrity of the U.K. is that the demographics look increasing stacked against it the longer the wrangling rumbles on. While Scotland is roughly evenly split between support for independence and remaining in the U.K., its rebel youth is disproportionately in favor of going it alone. John Curtice, Britain’s most prominent psephologist, calls it a gradual erosion of the foundations of support for the union. A recent YouGov poll found that 70% of people age 18-24 would vote “yes” in an independence referendum when excluding “don’t knows.” A Believe In Scotland poll, commissioned by PanelBase, showed that the disparity with older voters ran even deeper: It found 72% of voters between 16—the minimum voting age in Scotland—and 35 would vote “yes.” The problem for Prime Minister Boris Johnson—or indeed subsequent leaders—is that the issue is unlikely to fade away. His current stance is that the 2014 ballot, when Scots decided by 55% to 45% to remain in the U.K., was a once-in-a-generation event. But Scots voted more emphatically to stay in the European Union two years later, and across the U.K. under-25s were more than twice as likely to want to remain in the bloc than leave. “The support for independence is entwined with the attitude toward Brexit, so it’s not a surprise now that the younger demographic want to be independent,” said Curtice, a professor of politics at Strathclyde University. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-05-03/scottish-independence-u-k-s-future-may-be-in-hands-of-rebel-youth |

JohnNgene: Fellow Nigerians, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka needs no introduction in Nigeria. So I won't bore you with any biography. Google is your friend abeg. Lol.
I'm one of those who admire this man for his comments on politics and his criticism of politicians. People like to advice clerics to concentrate on their religious calling and avoid politics but I disagree with that. Clerics are citizens. Clerics are humans. And clerics have undeniable influence on other citizens.
To cut the long story short, I would vote for Ejike Mbaka if he ever decides to run for president. I would vote for him not because he is a saint but because I believe he would perform well and would have the interest of the poor and suffering people of Nigeria at heart.
I have always said that it's better to take the risk of a good person becoming bad in a position of power than to empower an already bad person to become more evil, more diabolical and more heartless. Bad people have no conscience. Bad people have ruled us since 1960 and are leaving our country worse than they met it. I think it's time to try a good man come 2023.
So, will you vote for Ejike Mbaka if he contests in 2023? Ejike Mbaka as Alaigbo republic President. |

Let's not pretend how on earth do you ask people to pay $1million are those people alrite in the head? When trump said Americans first the world was crying and this is the same thing Ghana is Doing to Nigerians
How much are Ghanaians worth?
What if the world impose the same thing on Ghanaians living in other countries what kind of hypocrisy is this. People from Ghana go to other countries and they are free and they kill peoples business in their own country.
Look igbos you need to boycott Ghana go to other African countries where their business environment is friendly and when you leave the Ghanaians would suffer.
Igbos stop going to Ghana the hype is already too much aside light and security I don't see anything special in Ghana no benefits even Ghanaians are running away and crossing the Mexican border.
Igbo politicians stand up for your igbo brothers in Ghana because buhari would do nothing, as long as you are igbo the issues in Ghana should affect you because they are our brothers.
The Ghanaian Cup would be full very soon because the issues are clearly political and to the clueless man in charge open the damn borders, you can't close the Southern border and leave the Northern border open, that man is a disaster

Fineman87: 2023 is the undisputable turn of Ndigbo to produce the President of this great country. The two major parties have no choice but to ensure an Igbo man flies their banner. Forget all the lies in the media; 2023 is strictly igbo affair for both APC & PDP.
It is the wish of Nigerians that power transmits to the younger generation. The highly educated and enlightened people who would chart a great future for the nation.
Please I use this medium to plead with Gens. OBJ, IBB, Gowon, George Obiozor & Afenifere to back Prof. Kingsley C. Moghalu for the 2023 Presidential election. Many months ago, I contacted him anonymously via social media and advised him to join the PDP early so that we can work for him. But he isn't making that move yet. Let me respectfully remind him that only PDP or APC can win a Presidential Election in this country.
The likes of Tinubu, ethnic bigot Rabiu .M. Kwankwaso, thief Atiku, criminal Orji. U Kalu, etc are Not the calibre of people the country needs at this time. We must break away from the cycle of rogues and ethno-religious cretins. ... And most importantly, the position is for Ndigbo by moral justice. The North & West should yield to moral justice to heal past wounds and cement the national inter-ethnic bond.
Please Elder Statesmen, l urge you all to prevail on Prof. Moghalu to join a leading party, so that we can start preparing him to contest. 2023 is already here.
Should he refuse, then an alternative is Prof. C. Soludo. But Soludo has gone far in his quest to be the governor of Anambra State. Nevertheless, he would make a great president that would diversify the economy and create jobs for Nigerians.
Please Statesmen, help the nation to break the cycle of rogues and support Prof. Moghalu to join PDP and contest. If he isn't cooperating, then Prof. Soludo should be made to contest for Presidency, same as we did with Obj in 1999.
Say No to thieves and rogues please. Profs. Moghalu or Soludo 2023. If Igbos wants to be President of Nigeria, they must contribute more IGR to the federation account of Nigeria to supercede South west and South South. They only regions who deserves Presidency in Nigeria is South west and South South. The rest can take Speaker or chief whip positions.

GOTVee:
As a born again Christian who is meant to speak the truth at all times, I can boldly say that we southerners are bloody hypocrites especially we Christians. The Bible admonished we Christians to forgive and let love lead in all we do. If God were to judge us based on our actions so far in life no one would be alive cos we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the holy spirit. What baba ijesha did is despicable and cantankerous but why must we adopt the cancel culture in dealing with the issue just like we tried to do with the recent case of Honorable Minister Pantami who was wrongly accused of having links with terrorists? A 14 year old girl in Northern Nigeria is already an house wife with 2 children. A former governor Yerima married a child bride from Egypt till this day nothing happened. Where were these hypocritical voices when the girl child in the north is a victim? Why are the Tonto Dike's and Iyabo Ojo's not speaking up against the madness going on in the north? Are we supposed to operate separate laws as regards abuse of the girl child in Nigeria? Baba ijesha did wrong but how many of the so called voices of perdition don't have skeletons in their closets? While I condemn rape and molestation, I think we southerners should emulate the north when it comes to solidarity. The north will never drag their people into the mud no matter what despite been predominantly Muslims. We Christians really have a lot to learn from our Muslim brothers when it comes to love and peace The laws in the North is different from the South. The south uses criminal code and the North penal code.Adultery and seducing a married woman in the North is a crime in the North but it doesnt exist as a crime in the South. Law respects no emotion. The law is the law acccording to the place the crime was committed. If Baba Ijesha lives in the North and married a 14 yr old girl,no one will raise eyebrow because their law and culture support it. |

Crime › Baba Ijesha Case:a Legal Opinion by cocolacec(op): 10:11am On May 03, 2021 |
On Baba Ijesha trending 'saga' of 'rape' of a 7years old and molestation of that same girl at 14yrs.
Note that the offence of defilement is same as 'rape', the difference only lies in age of the victim. In my post, I shall use the word 'defile/defilement' because the victim was and still a child when the defilement and molestation took place.
I try as much as possible to distance myself from sex related issues or discussions because I consider it private. But when it comes to defilement of a child/minor, I get charged, infuriated, irritated, furious, enraged. The defilement of this innocent children is a social evil which we must collectively fight. Children should be allowed to be children, and we must protect them. But the law is the law, our sentiments holds no water and can not change the laws of our land.
Lots of sentiments is currently ongoing with divergent views especially on social media. We all forgot that there's a law which protects every citizen, irrespective of crime such person may have committed. The crime of molestation has been reported by the guardian of the young victim and the offender arrested already, we should allow the court to make a pronouncement. Everyone coming up with a verdict having no regards for the law of the land.
We lawyers don't entertain sentiments, we rather speak the law at it is(in its raw form). In this post, I wish to analyze without sentiments the probable outcome of the Baba Ijesha alleged defilement/molestation case.
I came across a confessional video of the offender online and the popular/social media opinion is that since the offender has confessed to the crime, that he(offender) shouldn't be released on bail. Haba mana!
IS BABA IJESHA'S OFFENCE A BAILABLE ONE? YES! Baba Ijesha's crime is a bailable offence, and the police can not continue to hold him indefinitely. Moreover, our courts are on strike, meaning he (offender) can not be charged to court or prosecuted for now. Even where the crime committed is a grave one (eg murder), the police still have to apply to court before the offender can be further held for maximum of 96 hours or so. The public opinion doesn't matter, because the law is there to guide and direct us.
PURNISMENT FOR DEFILEMENT. By virtue of Section. 137 of Criminal Law of Lagos State states and I quote: "Any person who has sexual intercourse with a child commits a felony and liable on conviction to imprisonment for life".
Section. 135 of same law on INDECENT TREATMENT OF A CHILD stated thus: (i) Any person who unlawfully and I decently deals with a child commits a felony and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for Seven(7)years. (ii)the term "deal with" includes doing any act which if done without consent would constitute an assault.
CAN BABA IJESHA BE PURNISHED FOR DEFILEMENT OF A MINOR, A CRIME HE COMMITTED 7YEARS AGO?
According to the law, he (offender) can no longer be prosecuted on the criminal act of defilement. Those clamoring for life imprisonment are only being ignorant of the law.
By virtue Law of Statute of Limitation, the maximum period or time to report the crime of rape or defilement is Two(2)months from date of the alleged offence. The law therefore forbids prosecutors from charging someone with a crime that was committed beyond the maximum specified period. In other words, the maximum period to report or prosecute a rape/defilement case by the victim or her parents/guardian (for a minor) is immediately the offence of rape/defilement was committed. It becomes statuted barred if not reported or prosecuted after two(2)months. This is to ensure that the conviction is based solely on evidences that has not deteriorate with time.
From the above stated law, it is clear that an offence(defilement) that was committed 7years ago and was unreported is already long statute barred unfortunately.
CAN BABA IJESHA RETRACT HIS PLEA/ADMITTANCE(as seen in the viral video)?. Yes! Even in court of law, an accused can retract or withdraw his confessional/ written statement.
For the molestation /assault, Baba Ijesha must be adequately punished and must serve the maximum punishment which according to Section. 135 of Criminal Law is CONVICTION TO IMPRISONMENT for SEVEN(7) YEARS.
We parents should be vigilant and must be there for our kids. Trust no one with your kids the way you wouldn't entrust your hard earn money with anyone. Our kids, our future. These kids have the right to enjoy their childhood, why do some mentally sick adults rob them of their inherent right?
School owners! please do watch out for this kids, we have entrusted them in your care while they are in school. We should always have it at the back of our minds that male children also get abused, molested and sexually abused.

You can't send a man to jail for touching a girls hands and talking to her. I didn't even see the part where he fondled her breasts. They can probably only get him on a misdemeanour charge which probably just carries a fine. Let us remember that it was initially alleged that he raped the girl. I didn't see any evidence of rape in the footage. The rape happened 7 years ago |
