HAccord: The protesters should demand for CSP James Nwafor rtd. the former OIC of Awkuzu SARS under whose command many were extra-judicially butchered in Awkuzu and Neni SARS stations.
It is believed that guy also traded human parts of those he killed to rich ritualists.
People can also sue him to court in a class action.
The Nigerian Youths have been protesting to stay alive due to the high rate of kidnspping, torture, false inprisonment, extortion, rape amongst others by The Defunct SARS outfit. The protesters have called for the arrest of the culprits among these SARS officer. I think it will be good to guide the Govt by listing the names of these armed robbers in uniform parading as police since not All SARS officers engages in these evil practices and their victims names.
GreyLaw: The good thing is that nobody lives forever. If Nigeria cannot give the victims justice, surely the criminal SARS officers will meet their reward on the other side of eternity.
They must get their reward on earth.People should list the name of the erring SARS Officers and location.
Rex123: For the last couple of days, Nigerian youths have taken to the street to protest police brutality. Police brutality isn't a new topic, it has been ravaging the country for decades now. Basically all Nigerian forces brutalize Nigerians and the youths have finally had a enough and took to the streets in major States of the federation to demand reforms and end to the barbaric Special Anti Robbery Squad.
In the heat of the protests, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu took the demands of the protesters to present to the president of the federation. While having a discussion with the president, the governor listed out the demands of the protestors and the president laughed when he heard the demands for compensation for the lost lifes.
Shocking! The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria laughed at the demand of compensation of lost lifes, lifes that were taken by officers of the forces during a peaceful protest. Was the demand so unreasonable that the president couldn't help but make a mockery of it? The now viral video has drawn different reactions on social media, many are saying the president didn't understand the demands and wasn't insensitive to the plights of the common man.
But the video dropped a question in my mind, `` what's the cost of life in Nigeria? " I have lived all my life in the country, for has long as I can remember the common man life in Nigeria doesn't have value. The common man is disposable, when you think about how the ruling class have ruled this country, you get an understanding of why our military and paramilitary organisation don't value our lifes and brutalize and kill us at will.
The Nigerian society also suffers from severe case of classism. This is evident in how the protesters were treated in Lagos, while the protest on the island was relatively peace and wasn't met with brute and deadly force, protest on the street of mainland Lagos was marred with deadly force with many of the protesters arrested and brutally assaulted. This begs the question, why were the protesters on the island treated with dignity and those of the mainland had their civil liberty trampled up?
From the government inability to provided basic social amenities such as quality health care services to the poor funding of our educational institutions. The rich and the ruling class are making sure we and our children can never challenge their hierarchy making our lives miserable, while they go on and enjoy the best things life can offer.
The life of a common man doesn't hold any value, the actions of the government and the ruling class towards the plights of the common man always re-enforces it. Something that makes me happy is the political awaken of the Nigerian youth and its determination to better the country, as one of the placards of the protest read, ``Canada isn't my homeland, I have to better nigeria".
The momentum of these protests shouldn't die but develop into a political movement, the use of social media has shown the power the masses have. That power should be used to wrestle power from the political antediluvian.

Solution Govt should provide medical insurance and life insurance for all Nigerians.
slivertongue: so the igp knew SARS has been doing more harm than good but kept quiet. Adamu deserve to be sacked. he is part of the axis of evil in police
Copied from a nairalander Reason why SARS can't be BANNED nor REFORMED:
Let me enlighten you guys on why some happenings in Nigeria will never be looked into. Because I've noticed that most Nairalanders are not in tune with reality, rather idealism.
Now, there's something called "food chain" if you remember your primary 4 science. That's what's playing out here. You can continue to wail and scream all you like it's not gonna change a thing.
The sars unit you meet on the road, before they were given such strategic location to mount, their OC (Officer in Command) already gave them a target to meet of maybe 10,000,000/week depending on how sensitive the area is. Now if they don't meet this target, they'll be replaced (in which they don't wanna risk).
The OC has been told by the Deputy Commissioner to meet a target of maybe 100,000,000 from his 20 teams (X) the number of OCs in that state.
The DCs will take 200,000,000 to the CP.
The CPs X 36 states will take 3,600,000,000 to the IG
The IG is gonna take 1B to who put him there. And so on till it gets to the C in C or fades away from our understanding.
And you sit here on Nairaland and say the foot soldiers should not meet their target? Laughable.
Are you saying that the C in C should issue an order asking them to stop doing what is bringing Money to their pockets? Laughable grin
Get this straight from today, whenever something which ought to be done right is intentionally done wrong just understand that someone/some people are on the benefitting end.
You think all your hashtags (ENDSARS), posts on Nairaland et all, blog posts don't get to their notice? They do. But Oga they won't end shit. If you think they don't see it, why is that one small hate speech about them (that we did not even hear about o) DSS will go and pick the person. (Even this one I'm typing sef, I'm not safe) grin. But full protest and online campaign will not be heard. Oga read in between the lines now.
You can scream all you want online, nothing is gonna happen.
What pains me most is, it's the southerners (sars Officers) that kill themselves (the southerners) the most. I can drive in the North for 2 months before seeing sars once. But southerners don't like each other damma, so they kill themselves like goats then blame northerners everytime for their woes. As a sars officer you can't try all these rubbish up north. They'll transfer you that same week.
Kosem Sultan Kösem came back in power when her son ascended to the throne on 10 September 1623 as Murad IV. Since her son was a minor, she was appointed not only as a Valide Sultan but also, as an official regent (naib-i-sultanat) during his minority, from her son's ascension on 10 September 1623 until 18 May 1632.
During most of Murad IV's reign, she essentially ruled through him and effectively ran the empire, attending meetings of the divan (cabinet) from behind a curtain, even after 1632, when she was no longer regent.
During the early years, the Empire fell into anarchy; the Safavid Empire invaded Iraq almost immediately, Northern Anatolia erupted in revolts, and in 1631 the Janissaries stormed the palace and killed the Grand Vizier, among others. Murad feared suffering the same fate as his elder brother, Osman II, and decided to assert his power.
He later tried to quell the corruption that had grown during the reigns of previous Sultans, and that had not been checked while his mother was ruling through proxy. His absolute rule started around 1632, when he took the authority and repressed all the tyrants, and he re-established the supremacy of Sultan.
The Sultanate of Women (Turkish: Kadınlar saltanatı) was a period of extraordinary political influence exerted by wives and mothers of the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire. This phenomenon in the early modern period, approximately between the years 1533 and 1656, began during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent with his marriage to Hürrem Sultan (also known as Roxelana from Crimea or Russia).
These sultanas were either the wives of the Sultan, referred to as Haseki Sultans, or the mothers of the Sultan, known as Valide Sultans.
Many of these women were of slave origins, as was expected of the sultanate, since traditional marriage roles were considered too large of a risk for the Sultan, who was expected to have no personal allegiances outside his title.
During this time, Haseki and Valide Sultans held political and social power, which allowed them to influence the daily running of the empire, as well as requesting the construction of buildings, and philanthropic works.
Historical precedents
The period commonly known as the Sultanate of Women was novel for the Ottoman Empire, but not without precedent. The Seljuks, predecessors to the Ottoman Empire, often had women of nobility playing an active role in public policy and affairs, despite the concern of other male officials.
However, during the fourteenth century, the agency of women in government began to shrink considerably. This was the age of Ottoman expansion where most Sultans elected to "lead from the horse," moving with a court of advisors, viziers, and religious leaders as the army conquered new lands.
In addition, Ottoman policy from the fifteenth century onward was to send young princes and their mothers to provincial governorships in Anatolia. In effect, this kept all of the women with connection to the higher levels of government far away from any place where they could hold meaningful power.
Additionally, the practice of fratricide—in which an ascendant sultan would execute all his brothers to secure his throne—made the mothers and wives of princes even more dependent on their men.
Political significance
By the middle of the 17th century, six sultans had reigned, several of whom were children when they came to the throne. As such, the valide sultan ruled virtually unopposed, both during their sons' rule, and during interregnum. However, such radical prominence was not easily accepted by all.
Even with a direct connection to the sultan, the valide sultan often faced opposition from the viziers(ministers) of the sultan, as well as from public opinion. Where their male predecessors had won favor with the public through military conquest and charisma, female leaders had to rely on imperial ceremonies and the construction of monuments and public works.
These public works, known as hayrat or works of piety, were often built extravagantly in the name of the sultana, as had been tradition for imperial Islamic women.
Other imperial women, such as Turhan Sultan contributed to the empire's defense, spending large amounts of money on the reconstruction and fortification of key military strongholds. Some even symbolically participated in warfare as well. When her son Mehmed IV returned from a successful military campaign, she had a royal procession arranged to retrace his warpath, and share in the glory of his victory.
Weddings were also a common cause for celebration, and an opportunity for imperial women to promote charity while displaying their wealth and power. At one wedding as the daughter of Murad III was about to be wed to a prominent admiral, she had newly minted coins given out to all the onlookers, some making off with whole skirt-fulls of wealth.
And the death of an imperial wife or sultan's mother could be even more extravagant. In one instance, the death of Hurrem Sultan brought throngs of mourners out to the streets, including the sultan himself, who was traditionally supposed to seclude himself in the palace during the funeral of a family member.
Once again, during the ceremony coins and food were distributed to the attendees, to pay tribute to the queen's generous and caring nature.
And ultimately, the most long-lasting accomplishments of many wives and mothers of sultans were their large public works projects.
Often constructed as mosques, schools, or monuments, the construction and maintenance of these projects provided crucial economic circulation during a time otherwise marked by economic stagnation and corruption, while additionally leaving a powerful and long-lasting symbol of the sultanate's power and benevolence.
While the creation of public works had always been an obligation of the sultanate, sultanas such as Suleiman's mother and wife undertook projects that were larger and more lavish than any woman before them, and most men as well.
Eriokanmi: Human beings are ungrateful. Was it makinde who shot at the innocent young man? Was the protest about or against makinde like oyo people protested against late ajimobi for touching ayefele's building which was even far from the road he claimed he was expanding? The last time i checked, SARS was an element of the federal government not state. What has the federal govt done to the family? Makinde visited almost immediately after the incident to commiserate with the family. How many people had the federal govt sent to them to do the same?
For me, that's the way a responsible and responsive governor should do and not like the puppet in lagos who keeps making empty promises. Where is the money realised from the covid-19 endowment fund? Where's the whopping sum he promised as relief package to smes to cushion the effect of covid-19? Covid-19 is almost gone but nothing had been done. He's not paid the minimum wage till date after his empty promises to lagos workers that he wouldn't only pay 30k but 35k as minimum wage. From September last year, to January and up till last month, it's still same story despite the state being buoyant financially. Workers protested last month, blocking the entrance into institutions for his failure to pay when other states like edo had been paying same since February
Now he has made another gaffe. 200m naira my foot. The innocent victims have just created an avenue for sanwoolu to embezzle money. If the victims and family get up to 20% of that money, they're lucky. Someone who claimed he spent between 100k and 1m naira to treat one covid-19 patient daily cannot be taken seriously. The funds were donated, likewise the isolation centres, wondering what was he feeding and treating patients with. It'sin the news Google is your friend if in doubt.. Almost one and half years in office, no meaningful achievement to his credit and only a puppet can act that way.
Why did Makinde give the monarch 100m if he didnot destroy his palace? Why didnt the Govnor speak up or caution the police when youths were killed in his domain?
It should be made a law that any victim of police brutality should paid 25 million and rehabilitation must be compensated. In a case of death,a sum of 50million naira should be paid to the victims next of kin/Family. Southerners should start having life insurance policies too.

I was told those officers who dont meet target sometimes get killed and their death is blamed on a robbery operation.
We've made progress so far in our demand for a fair and just policing. As a result, the IGP has ordered all ex sars members to report at the force headquarters in Abuja.
But we need to make one more demand for this victory to be complete;
All these corrupt sars would have gotten rich from their illegal dealings. I believe they shouldn't go free.
What if their BVN was demanded at the headquarters? And their bank accounts/statements investigated? The ones found with money they didn't earn would be forced to explain where they got it from. And if found guilty of extortion, should be made to face the law!
What do you think Nairalanders? That would be the perfect payback.
But this will not happen unless lot of people voice out. So I'm begging you Nairalanders, our victory is so near. Please let's promote the hashtag #demandTheirBankStatements till the IG and Every Nigerian is aware.
God bless us all. Nigeria will be great.
From a reliable source, the monies collected by these road side policemen are handed to their bosses because if they dont, their bosses will kill them and blame it on armed robbery attack. That is the police dilemma.(Master servant rekationship)
The ogas are the real barawo forcing the junior officers to extort the public because of their target they must fulfill everyday.
ethicallyright: Local TV Stations in Ghana mostly advertise churches. Like 85% of entire adverts there are placed by churches. For instance In Nigeria you will at least see Amatem or Lonart advertise their standard antimalarial drugs. In Ghana what you see are two or three spiritualists or Pastors a day coming with testimonies of how they are specialists in treating Malaria. 70% of young and able bodied men in Accra are into cybercrime. Their pastors even buy laptops and other gadgets and pray for them.
Rwanda is actually worse, Professors and Ph.d holders stop classes for wandering evangelists to preach. When I see people praising Paul Kagame here , I just laugh. I offered to pay two two "poor " Ph.d students in Rwanda $50 each to distribute 1000 questionnaire papers in Kigali they told me their church was observing a 21 days fasting . They even told me my money was better donated to their pastor to support evangelism.
A bit of secularity has improved the thinking abilities of Nigerians and South Africans which I think are the only countries in Sub-saharan Africa a rational person can survive.
What we need in Africa is more of human capital development. Teach these low thinking people that they can build their Countries with their hands don't just employ Julius Berger to do the construction while the brains of those enjoying such civilization are almost like that of animals.
Seems the Ghanian President is also a deeply brainwashed individual.
richeeyo: Schooled in Ghana, since then I lost faith in churches, I pray to God anywhere, If you see what pastors do hmmmm Saying it would look exaggerated
Say it let people learn and be aware of the level of decadence on our continent.
What have his man of God has turn Christianity into. A video trending on social media this morning shows a ghanaian Pastor conducts cleanings on his female members by shaving their public hairs himself
myBraine: I said it. That's the main agenda behind this protest. We only share the same country together but deep inside Southern Nigerians, they don't really love the North.
I could sense an undertone of bitter politics immediately the protest kick started. The protest has already been hijacked even before it started. The likes of Sowore, Saraki, Reno, Atiku and Co were at the forefront of this hijacking, and their agenda is to start a revolution to either achieve two major goals.
1. To destroy the regime and good reputation of Buhari and his various quality performances, thus, making the country ungovernable under his leadership so that they can hijack power through the backdoor.
2. To gain an unlawful sovereignty as a nation.
South must leave Nigeria. The North can retain the name ’Nigger area’.It is not by force to be in a marriage where parties are unhappy.
tensazangetsu20: Why are Nigerians above the age of 40 so unfortunate and extremely stupid. You guys were born when the British left Nigeria. They handed over a country with dreams and a bright future but you managed to ruin it and wreck it for future generations. Your mates who also took control of their countries in the same time periods have built their nations to first world status while you have generated poverty and hopelessness for Nigerians. Most millennials were born from 1985 to 1995. What did we meet? Honestly this country has been a shithole from birth and it has managed to get worst in recent years. As of last year I could cook a good meal with 1000 naira. It's impossible to do so today. How much do I make? What is the average Nigerian salary? How many jobs even exist in this useless shithole.
The most annoying thing about this failed generation is they still have mouth to talk back on the youths that the youths are the ones who ruined Nigeria. Ruined Nigeria with what. Look at the fool called myBraine. How can one person be so foolish and he thinks he's making any sense. Nigerians should be excluded from technology and embrace subsistence farming. Please name one country in the world where subsistence farming made them a trillion dollar economy which is what Nigeria desperately needs for our booming population. The endsars protest going on go and check the people against the movement are Nigerians within that age range. People that feel that you can't make any money online. They don't know the world has changed. They don't know it's possible to sit down in Nigeria and work with big companies in silicon valley and earn millions. They don't know the millions many people make monthly trading crypto and Forex. When bbnaija was showing they said the youths are distracted now it has ended and the youths are out and you are abusing them.
Nigerians above 40 why are you so unfortunate? Your mates built south Korea, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam you guys left poverty for all of us.
You should mention 60 years and above because your grandfathers are still ruling Nigeria since independence. They refused to hand over to their children’s generation.
fineboynl: its better they redeploy the current sars to the military.
maybe under some kind of sub-military group.
then a new recruit of fresh graduate into anti robbery and kidnapping intelligent squad, then pick some soldiers among them.
50% of soldiers should act as the combactant. 10% civil defends, 10% Police, and 30% fresh new recruit.
because southerners are the current thieves in sars.
the Nigeria military should do 50% of the recriut, 70% northerners.
the Nigeria civil defends 10% of the recriut, 60% northerners.
the Nigeria DSS 10% of recriut, 60% northerners.
the Nigeria police 30% of the recriut. 60% northerners.
the list of all the recriut should then be forwarded to the IGP to form a new robbery and kidnapping team. the police should not be allowed to do the recriut alone.
when all the group are mixed up to form a single units under the police that fight robbery and kidnapping and other local insurgence. I can assured Nigerians of a better result.
that sars group and their recruit is dead on arrival.
If Southerners are thieves, let the Southerners catch their thieves themselves. We are not in Arewa Republic.
