op i must commend you for this wonderful piece.People can call it fiction but it is a true life story of many students in the university i witnessed myself 15 years ago.I had a female friend whose parent only give her N500 for the semester ,she resorted to stealing peoples money in the student mosque and in the hostel to survive until she was caught.

There were some who only get transport money back to school with the promise the money will be sent later and they followed the path braiding,selling bread or other menial jobs they can get to survive.
I know some who resorted to runs,send money to the parents back home,the parents collect without shame and when she is broke no shishi from them so the cycle continues.

All these people i mentioned now are doing fine in their matrimonial homes financially.Life is just phase,nothing last forever.

Nearly all foreign extremists who sign up to join ISIS are recruited by family and friends and are very rarely radicalised in mosques, a terrorism expert has warned.
Scott Atran from Oxford University said reseach has found that three-quarters of recruits are persuaded join the terror group by friends with a further 20 per cent signing up due to family members.
He also added that radicalisation very seldom takes place in mosques or through anonymous recruiters or strangers and that ISIS fighters from Christian families are the 'fiercest fighters of all the fighters we find.'
He told the gathering that ISIS recruits see joining up as a 'call to glory and an adventure that moves young people to join' and that 'jihad offers them a way to become heroes'.

The New York-born anthropologist also added that ISIS has a 'revoluntionary pull' the same as what was seen in the French Revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia and the rise of Nazi Germany.
He explained: 'The Islamic State represents the spearhead of the most dynamic counter-culture revolutionary movement since World War II with the largest volunteer fighting force since World War II.
Mr Atran conducted some of his research by interviewing captured fighters from ISIS and the al-Qaeda linked Nusra Front and said leaders of ISIS 'understand youth much better than the governments that are fighting against them.'

He added that they know how to speak to the rebelliousness and idealism of youth and that they are very adept at using social media to target young people aged between 15 and 24.
He also explained that the West's counter message that the group is bad, cut off heads and wants to control women is not effective or universal.
And Mr Atran stressed that the Paris attacks that killed at least 130 people are an integral part of the ISIS game plan.

ISIS has released a video threatening the US and its ‘coalition of devils’ including the UK to ‘bring it on’.
In a desperate bid to stay on top of their social media game, the terrorist group used an English-speaking voice over in a video that resembles a cheesy American movie trailer.
It uses emotive language to try to scare viewers.
Malta has been included in what Isis has described as a 'coalition of devils' in a new video threatening the west.
The video includes an image with 60 flags, with Malta being the last.
A voice on the video, says in English: "We only bow to Allah unless the countless deviant factions raising their false banners.
"America, you claim to have the greatest army history has known. You may have the numbers and weapons but your soldiers lack the will and resolve, still scarred from their defeats in Afghanistan and Iraq.
"They return dead or suicidal, with over 6,500 of them killing themselves each year."

I had to create a new account just to post this as it's quite sensitive. It's quite lengthy too but I'll be brief. I need mature and friendly advice from people here.

When I first met my husband, it was in a library. We talked briefly and we became close. I have had past relationships in my life so I was careful as possible. I realised that he had no past relationship. He was a typical virgin and was new and I was his first girlfriend. So I felt comfortable with him. He was so kind and loving so I agreed to marry him.

Now it has gotten worse. Everytime he does anything I want without asking questions. At first I enjoyed it but now I'm starting to worry about him as it's getting out of hand. He does not display any act of manliness in the house. He behaves like my puppet or my foot stool. The other day he was watching the soccer game and I just jokingly mentioned how boring it was and I would prefer the faith channel. He changed the channel to the faith channel just like that. Even at work he would be calling me and texting me I am even scared he would loose his job if his employer finds out.

I have no time for myself.. he is always around. Sometimes if I say no to his advances for sex he would act like I am a wicked woman who has cheated him or rubbed him of his right. He would give me the silent treatment for weeks until I give in. On Sunday he insisted on going with me to the salon and it's now embarrassing as every Sunday my mates in the salon would gossip about how my husband is the only man amongst women making their hairs because his wife is there. 'Our story is some kind of Disney fairytale'

Josefin Karlsson was so disgusted by the abuse hurled at the young beggar sitting outside her local supermarket in Gothenburg that she resolved to talk to him. The chats went rather better than expected, because in December they get married.

“I was so shocked by how badly some of the local Swedes were treating this poor beggar. Some people were really nice to him but many abused him – not many took time to try to understand why he was there. I really wanted to understand the situation of beggars and why they have come here,” Josefin, 37, told The Local on Wednesday.

The couple are getting married in December.
Her chats with Florin Serhan, 21, began in halting English in March this year. But they became longer and more intense.
“Soon I was taking him an umbrella when it rained and blankets when it was cold.”

Josefin took her children – she has six – down to see him and sometimes they played football with Florin and his friends. She and Florin went on the occasional excursion to Gothenburg city centre.

Before Florin met Josefin, according to an interview he gave to the newspaper Göteborgs-Posten who first ran the story, Florin had become so disillusioned with Swedish life that he was ready to go home to his father and his 12 siblings in rural Romania.

But, one night, a few months after they'd first talked, he felt emboldened to tell Josefin that he had feelings for her.

“I had lent Florin my cell phone so he could call home and talk to his family. And suddenly, one night, he called me to tell me he had feelings for me and wanted us to be together.”

At first, Josefin says, she tried to resist what she was feeling. She reminded Florin that she had six children and told him he needed a younger woman.

But her resolve soon crumbled. “Deep down, I felt exactly the same as he did.”

The couple soon moved into a house just outside Halmstad, halfway between Malmö and Gothenburg, and Josefin has also visited Florin’s family in Romania.

“His mother died when he was a child but his father is very happy.”

“We will be getting married in December in Sweden and then plan to have a big Romanian wedding in two, maybe three, years’ time.”

Disappointed Iraqis cancel asylum applications

In recent weeks the Iraqi Embassy in Helsinki's posh Kulosaari neighbourhood has been busy as Iraqis have queued up for temporary passports to leave the country.

Some of the Iraqi asylum seekers who have arrived in Finland this autumn have decided to return to Iraq. In September and October, for instance, more than 700 Iraqis cancelled their asylum applications.

Officials at the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) say that some Iraqis have apparently had incorrect assumptions about Finland's asylum policy.

"Many of them have arrived in Finland with an idea that everything would be arranged quickly and that family reunifications would be easy. For many it may have been a shock when the truth emerged about how long the asylum process takes," says Migri communications officer Kaisa Härkisaari.

Queuing for passports

One of those waiting in line this week was Walaah Ala-Hassan from Baghdad. She came to Finland because she believed that she would have a better, safer life here. Before coming to Finland, she spent two years in Turkey.

"Living here is so difficult because I can't [get] comfortable here because my camp is so bad in Jyväskylä. And I can't stay in Jyväskylä. When you need anything, we don't find anything. And my Mom needs me again and I want to go for her."

Ala-Hassan says she is afraid to go back to Iraq "because that situation's so bad".

Ala-Hassan, who dreams of a career as a dentist in Dubai, says she came to Finland to complete her university studies in dentistry.

"A European degree is always good. Studying in Baghdad is difficult at the moment," Ala-Hassan says. "But it's so difficult here, the language is so difficult, and....yeah."

Tougher rules

Iraqis account for more than 60 percent of the 26,000 asylum seekers who have arrived in Finland this year.

In late October, Migri changed its guidelines for which areas of Iraq are considered safe, in effect making it harder for Iraqis to obtain asylum here.

A 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death at a refugee reception centre in Western Norway on Thursday night, in one of the worst examples of refugee violence yet seen in the country.An 18-year-old man, also Eritrean, has been arrested and charged with “causing severe bodily injury leading to death”, police lawyer Knut Meek Corneliussen told the local Adresseavisen newspaper on Friday morning.

”The detained man has been living at the centre for about a year, while the victim hasn’t been here that long,” Jarl Aspen, from the local police, said on Thursday night.

“The situation was unclear so we dispatched several police officers to the scene. We now have control and the suspect has been detained. As far as we know, no one else was involved.”

According to a police statement, the woman was found severely wounded shortly before 8.30pm last night.

When the police arrived shortly afterwards, the 18-year-old tried to escape by jumping out of a window, but hurt his foot when he landed, after which he was arrested without struggle.

Ambulances arrived at 8.55pm, but medics were unable to save the girl, who was confirmed dead an hour later.

“This is a tragic event, both for the residents at the reception and for those who work there,” said Ståle Refstie, mayor of Sunndal, the town where the centre is located. “We must work to find out how that could happen.” Police have yet to disclose the relationship, if any, between the two.

An Eritrean asylum seeker in August stabbed a mother and her son to death at a branch of IKEA in the Swedish city of Västerås, selecting them seemingly at random.

A failed asylum seeker from South Sudan in 2013 stabbed and killed two men and a woman on a bus near Årdal, where he had been staying in an asylum centre.l

A Turkish Airlines plane flying from New York to Istanbul was diverted to Canada on Nov. 22 because of a bomb threat, but police said no explosives were found.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said the plane, with 256 passengers and crew, landed at Halifax Stanfield International Airport early Sunday after being alerted to the bomb threat.

No bomb was found, however, during an exhaustive search of the aircraft and the passengers' luggage, and the plane was given the all-clear early Sunday to continue its journey.

"The Turkish Airlines aircraft is scheduled to continue on to Istanbul later this morning. The investigation into the threat is ongoing," the RCMP said on Twitter.

"RCMP completed search of Turkish Airlines aircraft & luggage at 4:25 a.m., no explosive device found."

The bomb threat comes with aviation officials on high alert for possible acts of terror following the November 13 attacks in Paris that left 130 people dead and hundreds injured.

Authorities received the threat late Nov. 21 at 22:50 (0250 GMT) after the plane had departed New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The aircraft landed in Halifax in Nova Scotia shortly before 0100 (0500 GMT).

The RCMP, in a series of statements on Twitter, said police searched the plane and passengers' suitcases "using police dogs trained in explosives".

"RCMP is looking to establish the origin of the threat and identify the person or persons responsible," it said.

Turkey's ambassador to Ottawa, Selçuk Ünal, told the state-run Anadolu Agency that Ankara was "following the developments."

"A joint crisis center has been set up. After the plane landed at the airport it was taken to a remote and safe part of the airport," Ünal said. "Our passengers were evacuated safely."

The latest threat follows incidents Nov. 17, when two Air France planes flying from the US to Paris were diverted because of similar bomb scares.

Those planes were forced to land in Halifax and in Salt Lake City, Utah, but officials said no explosives were found on either flight.

The two Greek men behind Wednesday's evacuation of a Copenhagen Airport terminal face charges of inciting fear and may also be hit with charges related to flight delays.
Two men who created a temporary panic at the Copenhagen Airport on Wednesday will be held in police custody for an additional 13 days, a Danish court ruled on Thursday.

The two men, both Greek nationals, told police that they were just kidding when one of them said that his suitcase contained a bomb.

“It appears that they thought they were a pair of comedians. It’s not certain that they think it is funny anymore after having slept in Vestre Fængsel [prison] last night,” Copenhagen Police spokesman Jakob Søndergaard told Ritzau news agency on Thursday.

The men, aged 33 and 65, are being charged with violating Article 266 of the Danish Penal Code, which deals with the incitement of fear through the threat of carrying out an illegal action.

Police said that the men could also face additional charges for causing delays at the airport on Wednesday. According to an airport spokesman, at least 14 flights were affected by the men’s actions.

According to police, the two men were checking in with one other individual when one of them set his suitcase on the luggage belt and said that it contained a bomb. A female airport employee told the men that it wasn’t appropriate to joke about such a thing, particularly in light of the terror attacks in Paris last week that left at least 129 people dead.
The worker then set off an alarm when the men attempted to keep the so-called joke going by saying that one of them was a wanted terrorist from the Paris attacks and then saying the word ‘Salaam’, Arabic for ‘peace’.

Police responded to the employee’s alarm in large numbers and evacuated “hundreds of people” according to Søndergaard.

The evacuation lasted over two hours and halted public transport to the airport. The incident came just hours after Danish police raised the country's threat level by one notch to the second-highest level, citing the elevated risk of a terrorist attack after last week's Paris attacks.

"Meeting the wrong people at the wrong time," explained Jamal.

Salah Abdeslam was fired as a technician on the Brussels trams for skipping work at the beginning of 2011 -- and around the same time he was arrested for robbery along with another Molenbeek native called Abdelhamid Abaaoud.

Drinking and smoking are just minor points to demonstrate the lack of a traditional Muslim life. The main standout from ordinary Muslims was clearly their desire to kill, a fact that was perhaps most apparent in the suspected "ringleader, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who was also killed in Wednesday's raid.

His own Muslim father said that the man had brought disgrace on the family, not long after he featured in an Isis video, laughing as he drove a car which dragged mutilated bodies behind it.

He was later linked to terror attacks in Verviers in Belgium, shortly after January's Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris.

"Why in the name of God, would he want to kill innocent Belgians? Our family owes everything to this country," said his father, Omar Abaaoud, whose family movedto Belgium 40 years ago from Morocco.

"Abdelhamid has brought shame on our family. Our lives have been destroyed... I never want to see him again."

Her brother, who remained anonymous, told the AFP news agency:

"She was unstable, she created her own bubble. She wasn't looking to study religion, I have never even seen her open a Koran."

Her longtime friend Jerome described her as a bon vivant who "smoked occasionally and drank on nights out".

Meanwhile, the brothers Brahim and Salah Abdeslam were known to be fond of drink and a joint, according to friends.

"We're still in shock," said Youssef, a local man in his thirties wearing a white tracksuit with a backwards red baseball cap, standing in front of the bar's closed shutters.

"They were friends of ours, big smokers, big drinkers, but not radicals."

The last time many people heard of Brahim and Salah was on November 5th when local authorities shut down the bar on the ground floor of a red brick building after police said it was "used for the consumption of banned hallucinogenic substances".

"There was a strong odour of drugs and the ashtrays contained partly smoked joints," the closure notice said.

Just over a week later it emerged that Brahim, 31, had blown himself up outside a cafe in Boulevard Voltaire during the Paris attacks.

Salah, 26, is now one of France's most wanted men for his alleged role in the atrocity.
Lots of people were smoking drugs there, it went too far," said Abdel, 34, who has been coming to the bar since his teens.

"The atmosphere was more festive under the old owner, you could play Playstation there. Of course there was dope there, like in most of the bars here, but it was discreet.

"With Brahim, as soon as you went in he jumped at you to try to sell you something."

Islam seemed to have little role in their lives, friends said.

"On Fridays (when Muslims hold their main weekly prayers) they would stay smoking on the terrace. I never saw them at the mosque," said Karim, 27, who lives in the flat above the bar.

Jamal, a teacher and friend of the brothers, agreed.

"They weren't practising Muslims. They didn't have big beards, they wore jeans and sneakers, and they drank their Jupiler (popular Belgian beer brand) like everyone else," he said.

"Their lives were the same as all young people: they liked football, going clubbing, coming back with girls."

Salah was known as a ladies' man who would buy aftershave and teeth whitening products at the local market.

"He was very charming, he liked to take care of his looks," said market manager Pharred.

BOKO HARAMCHILD SOLDIERS
It is common knowledge that the military were preparing a comprehensive onslaught on the Boko Haram terrorists in an operation meant to rid the entire region of insurgency in time for the February general elections.

According to a source, weekend’s multiple strike by the insurgents was meant to slow down or even prevent and divert the attention of the military from commencing the determined operation against them.

The source added that the pattern of the attack was also common to the terrorists who embark upon such desperate and unlikely to succeed attacks just to create room for terrorists’ commanders to escape from their camps in view of impending military raids in the areas.

The source said: “The increasing use of child fighters and women in their campaign of terror in the recent encounter is quite baffling. They used animals, armed children and occasional women to confront the soldiers while their commanders operate from the back and mostly in the armoured vehicles”

The children forced to fight for Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army have seen and done terrible things. But what happens when they grow up and go home?When I meet him in the village in which he grew up, Norman Okello leads me to a quiet space beneath two mango trees, far enough away that his mother and father and children won’t hear the stories he’ll tell. We’re in the north of Uganda and the scene around us is of a kind of pastoral paradise: huts of earth and thatch; the green shoots of sweet potatoes in the dark earth; hills in the distance. It’s hard to imagine this place as it was on January 1 1994, with a Ugandan army helicopter flying low, AK47s firing, and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), somewhere out there, whispering among the tall grasses.
On that day, Norman was 12, which was around the age at which the LRA liked to recruit its fighters. Led by the warlord Joseph Kony, the LRA’s child soldiers were notorious for their acts of creative evil. Local leaders would be warned off reporting their location to the Ugandan army by having their lips speared and padlocked; individuals caught riding bicycles – an act forbidden by Kony – would have their legs and buttocks cut off; people would be forced to torture one another. Norman spent two years fighting with the LRA. He saw these things.

Abubakar Shekau is the leader of the militant Islamist group Boko Haram, which has carried out a series of deadly attacks across northern Nigeria. Abdullahi Tasiu Abubakar from the BBC Hausa service looks at Nigeria’s most wanted man.

The leader of the militant Islamist group Boko Haram is said to be a fearless loner, a complex, paradoxical man - part intellectual, part gangster.

Fondly called imam or leader by his followers, Abubakar Muhammad Shekau was born in Shekau village in Nigeria’s north-eastern state of Yobe.
Some say he is 34 or 35, others that he may be 43 - the uncertainty adds to the myths surrounding Nigeria’s most wanted man.
Radical theology student

Mr Shekau was once thought to have been killed by security forces in 2009 - only for him to reappear in videos posted on the internet less than a year later as Boko Haram’s new leader.

The group’s founder, Muhammad Yusuf died in police custody, and hundreds of others were killed during that massive crackdown - which many blame for making the group even more violent.

Mr Shekau has not been seen in public since.

Instead, still images and video clips of him are released from time to time, mostly online, by the group’s faceless “public enlightenment department”.

Mr Shekau is said to have met his predecessor in Maiduguri, capital of Borno State and now Boko Haram’s headquarters, through a mutual friend, Mamman Nur.

Nigeria’s authorities say Mr Nur masterminded the August 2011 bombing of the UN office complex in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

All three were theology students - and Mr Shekau was seen as the quietest and perhaps the most radical of them.

“He hardly talks, he is fearless,” says Ahmed Salkida, a journalist with such good access to Boko Haram that, at one stage, he was suspected of being a member.

He says he only escaped summary execution by Maiduguri police after an intelligence officer intervened.

“He is one of those who believes that you can sacrifice anything for your belief,” Mr Salkida says.

Mr Shekau is fluent in his native Kanuri, Hausa and Arabic languages - he does not speak English.

“I used to joke with him that he should teach me Arabic and I would teach him English,” Mr Salkida says.

When Yusuf was killed, Mr Shekau is said to have married one of his four wives and adopted their children - perhaps, say sources who do not want to be named, to preserve Boko Haram’s cohesion or “purity”.
‘Chilling message’

The group has a highly decentralised structure - the unifying force is ideology.

Mr Shekau does not communicate directly with the group’s foot soldiers - he is said to wield his power through a few select cell leaders, but even then contact is minimal.

“A lot of those calling themselves leaders in the group do not even have contact with him,” Mr Salkida says.

Mr. Shekau has neither the charismatic streak nor the oratorical skills of his predecessor - but he has an intense ideological commitment and ruthlessness, say people who study the group.

“He is the leader of the more militant wing of the group as testified by his aping of Osama Bin Laden in his video appearances,” says Abubakar Mu'azu from the University of Maiduguri.

Mr Shekau issued a chilling message in one of those appearances - which provides an major insight into what his leadership of the group will bring.

“I enjoy killing anyone that God commands me to kill - the way I enjoy killing chickens and rams,” he said in the video clip released just after Boko Haram had carried out its deadliest attack so far, killing at least 180 people in Kano, northern Nigeria’s largest city.

Mr Shekau is also the group’s spiritual leader - and, judging by video footage, he seems equally comfortable delivering sermons to his followers.

“He has a photographic memory and is well versed in theology,” Mr Salkida said.

He is nicknamed “Darul Tawheed”, which translates as a specialist in Tawheed. This is an orthodox doctrine of the uniqueness and oneness of Allah, which is the very cornerstone of Islam.

But Nigeria’s mainstream Muslim clerics do not regard Mr Shekau as a scholar and question his understanding of Islam - and regularly condemn the bombings and drive-by shootings committed by his followers against anyone who disagrees with them.

Joseph Kony (pronounced IPA: [koɲ];[7] born August 1961)[1] is the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), a guerrilla group which used to operate in Uganda. While initially purporting to fight against government suppression, the LRA allegedly turned against Kony's own supporters, supposedly to "purify" the Acholi people and turn Uganda into a theocracy.[2] Kony proclaims himself the spokesperson of God and a spirit medium and claims he is visited by a multinational host of 13 spirits, including a Chinese phantom.[He is considered by some as a cult of personality. Ideologically, the group is a syncretic mix of mysticism, Acholi nationalism, and Christian fundamentalism, and claims to be establishing a theocratic state based on the Ten Commandments and local Acholi tradition.

Joseph Kony took over The Holy Spirit movement – a militaristic and spiritual rebel movement seeking to free the north of Uganda from government oppression – in 1986. Kony changed the name of the group to the Lord’s Resistance Army, or LRA.

Joseph Kony wasn’t able to maintain the group’s numbers or regional support, so he started abducting children to fill the ranks of his army. What had started out as a rebel movement to end the oppression of the north became an oppression of the north in itself.

He mutilated those who stood in his way, or those simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, cutting off innocent civilians’ noses, lips, and hands. It’s highly likely that Kony, with a small group of LRA, is currently hiding in Kafia Kingi, a Sudanese controlled ‘enclave’ bordering South Sudan and the Central African Republic. It’s a place which Kony has been able to return time and time again to take refuge, and from where he’s

Kony was indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, in 2005 but has evaded capture.[22] Kony has been subject to an Interpol Red Notice at the request of the ICC since 2006.[4] Since the Juba peace talks in 2006, the LRA no longer operate in Uganda. Sources claim that they are in the Democratic Republic of Congo, or Central African Republic or South Sudan. In 2013 Kony was reported to be in poor health and Michel Djotodia, president of the Central African Republic, claimed he was negotiating with Kony to surrender."

Because I had been through the Pentagon right after 9/11. About ten days after 9/11, I went through the Pentagon and I saw Secretary Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz. I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He said, "Sir, you've got to come in and talk to me a second." I said, "Well, you're too busy." He said, "No, no." He says, "We've made the decision we're going to war with Iraq." This was on or about the 20th of September. I said, "We're going to war with Iraq? Why?" He said, "I don't know." He said, "I guess they don't know what else to do." So I said, "Well, did they find some information connecting Saddam to al-Qaeda?" He said, "No, no." He says, "There's nothing new that way. They just made the decision to go to war with Iraq." He said, "I guess it's like we don't know what to do about terrorists, but we've got a good military and we can take down governments." And he said, "I guess if the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail."

So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, "Are we still going to war with Iraq?" And he said, "Oh, it's worse than that." He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, "I just got this down from upstairs" -- meaning the Secretary of Defense's office -- "today." And he said, "This is a memo that describes how we're going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran." I said, "Is it classified?" He said, "Yes, sir." I said, "Well, don't show it to me." And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, "You remember that?" He said, "Sir, I didn't show you that memo! I didn't show it to you!"
