13large: In modern day football, 424 isn’t a balanced formation. I will go with Dennis and osimehn as my forwards and play one of lookman or Simon on the wings. I’m not compromising my 3 man midfield for any player. that's the point.. Dennis drops to midfield and defense too often and can alternate between lookman and simon on the wings which means Dennis can play two positions Striker and Attacking midfield.. or try the image below ( don't mind the player numbers).

13large: Dennis is the number 1 wing forward and osimehn is undroppable. You cannot omit Dennis that has 14 G + A assist contribution. We need purposeful players vs Ghana that's the point... Osimhen and Dennis as forwards because Osimhen is not a Dennis kind of player from what I watched against FC Barcelona that likes to drop to midfield and sometimes defense in order to get the ball forward.. then Lookman on the LW and Simon on the right wing. with Ndidi and Onyeka in DM. |

maidaboi: my four wingers for Ghana will be Lookman Simon Chuks Dennis
Ejuke should be excused for now Ejuke showed more passion than Chuks during the AFCON... Chuks had a lackadaisical attitude during the AFCON.. with chuks, most of the S.E attack will go through Simon's wing and the S.E will be very predictable... so its Chuks that should be excused... with Ejuke, he will run at defenders at take shots at goal which will reduce the pressure on Simon's wing.. the Chuks in S.E is different from the one in Villareal... S.E doesn't need that type of player in the starting 11 but on the bench.. |

komekn: Many of our politicians when they cannot engage you in a SUBSTANSIVE based discussion. They will resort to tribalism, evasion of FACTS, infantile name calling and telling bare faced LIES.
You typify the Nigerian politician all wind and fresh air no substance. The way you rate Europe born players above Nigerian born players is a combination of extreme racism and tribalism.. If you were in charge of any sporting federation in Nigeria... You will create an apartheid system, I fight racists and tribalists like you with my own version of tribalism.. In a country like Nigeria, tribalism is very important... Most Nigerian politicians don't engage anyone in any discussion, don't resort to tribalism because if they were tribalists Nigeria will be very developed, they don't evade facts , they don't do infantile name calling and they don't tell bare faced lies, they just assume and think they are talking to dull people.. which is the same way you talk to people on this thread, you assume everyone on this thread is dull and lack intelligence. you are condescending towards people on this thread which makes you a racist and tribalist. You are condescending towards Nigerian born and raised players which also makes you a racist and tribalist. You are the one who typifies the Nigerian politician all wind and fresh air no substance. Any Nigerian that doesn't support and highly rates Nigerians born and raised in Nigeria is a basta:rd.. and should never accuse Nigerians that support Nigerians born and raised in Nigeria of tribalism... |

Meliforme: When concerns are on defensive duties in the here and now, Omeruo is ahead of Calvin Ughelumba Bassey, the gap is even wide. Yes i said the gap is wide.
I don't know how you guys rate players, maybe your basis for rating might be on league quality, while league quality is a valid basis, it is not the only basis.
After a little study on Calvin and Akpoguma, i saw that they were rightly excluded from the AFCON tourney, Also i saw why Olisa Ndah was on the list despite plying his trade in South Africa.
Calvin is a young player and has shown growth, the potential to be the best is right with him, but we acknowledge the situation with him in the here and now. komekn doesn't rate any Nigeria born and raised players.. For him, As long as they are born in England or in E:urope or U.S.A then that immediately means they are better than Nigerian born and raised players.. So please for your sake don't engage him when its between Nigeria born and raised players and players born in Europe. |

komekn: You lack knowledge and you have no understanding.
In most EPL clubs they have different phases off development. I know a EPL club that contracted the former assistant manager at Sao Paulo FC Brazil to head up the u9-13 development phase.
To teach them skills, technical ability, touch, etc Because after that age it becomes difficult to teach those particular skill sets.
Now look at England youth footballers do you see any of the old kick and rush , footballers anymore. Look at Eze, Tega Abraham, Iwobi, Mount, Reece, etc
But we in Nigeria have remained stagnant we have not developed our football and movef ahead. Just like many of our academic lecturers still using notes of decades ago to teach today.
Years ago I looked at Victor O, when he was at Wolfsburg and l made it clear that he would not make it into a good academy. He was technically poor.
Physically outstanding and Fast a big YES and he has used his physical attributes to overcome inadequacies in his technical ability, to get ahead. I said he needed to drop league go to a lower league learn, develop and them move up.
Well he has done that and has left Lille and gone to Napoli. However, some of those handicaps are still there and they will prevent him from getting to the top if not addressed.
This is a problem with home grown players from local academies and leagues. This is why we quite a few cannot even cross the ball properly. It was Philosopher1979 I quoted not you... The topic was about how Osimhen was failing at beating FCB highline and not about skills, technical ability, touch e.t.c. Osimhen and all our homegrown players have good skills, technical ability, touch. It was Iwobi's poor touch that made him get red card against Tunisia so where is your knowledge and sense in the what you're saying. |

Philosopher1979: You see most homegrown Nigerian footballers are poorly coached. Our football system does not care about coaching and it is very important. When they get to Europe it becomes obvious. You can't just survive on your raw talent alone. We need to declare a coaching emergency in Nigeria. Most Nigerian coaches probably don't teach their payers even the simple and basic things. Has nothing to do with homegrown players he has been playing in Europe for years and should already know this things unless they're not telling him since most Europeans don't know how to relate to Africans. You don't have to abuse or be condescending to someone or a group of people just to make your point. |

zuchyblink: Onuachu's problem is his age. Nigeria is known for age manipulation. Onuachu is almost 28 and I know they must have added 7 years to his age. Tell me one Nigeria player born in Nigeria that made a big money switch at 27. zuchyblink: I can only write it on Nairaland and no where else. I am trying to let you know how they see Nigerian players born in Nigeria. A 20 year old Onuachu would have made a big money or a move to Europe top 5 leagues Onuachu has done better than Osimehn in Belgium but his problem remains the age perception. watch what you type on the internet... Nigeria is not known for age falsification.. delete that comment.. Onuachu's problem is the fact that his not fast and doesn't press... The only 2 wingers based on current form that I won’t drop for lookman in the current eagles set up is Simon and Dennis, others lookman is better than them based on current form what you fail to realize is that S.E is having a "golden generation" from both Nigerian born players and foreign born players and since the foreign born players are not sure if they want to play for S.E then lets go for the ones that are sure... that's the summary... the only position where we haven't found golden generation is GK.. a formation of: Osimhen Dennis Simon Lookman Amoo Ndidi Aribo Ekong Omeruo Ajayi Uzoho I prefer Amoo to chuks because Amoo scores from outside the box and cuts inside... |
