HigherEd: Most Nigerians don't know that most Private Universities are not well funded. In fact even redeemers has been complaining of low funding of recent. That's why churches who go into it without strong divine direction and support struggle to have high standard. The govt subsidizes the average federal university grad with hundreds of thousand every year. |
Education › Re: Federal Govt To Private Universities: "Don't Expect Funding From Us" by CodeTemplar: 6:19pm On Mar 16, 2018 |
HigherEd: I knew this battle for Tetfund was lost when a school like redeemers couldn't get her Visitor(Adeboye) to openly canvass for funding for private universities. Oyedepo has equally evaded from the issue too. Only Aare Afe Babalola alongside other non influential chancellors have been very vocal about the need for govt assistance.
To get any result the Christian bloc might need to encourage the Islamic bloc to also join in aggressively campaigning for Tetfund. But even the Islamic unis timidly campaign for it. Maybe the two groups are afraid of the public backlash plus the Islamic universities might not have the will to even clamour because Prof Okebukola's recommendations for funding private universities would definitely favour Christian uni since they sit on top of most rankings. I don't buy the idea of govt supporting church unis like CU, LU & RUN. It will give the govt a say in the moral standard of those unis and by extension non-believers. |

Donpresh95: Because Hausa/Fulani hardly owns a University and also doesn't go to school that's why you won't fund it . But you are willing to map out Billions of naira to build cattle house.
GOD HELP ME SURVIVE IN THIS ANIMAL KINGDOM It is sad that Nigeria was formed decades ago to carry some persons along and we are still making policies to help carry such people along today. If they aren't well represented in any scheme, they use their numerical advantage to cancel and nullify it. |

While the FG has the right to reject such proposal, they should stop establishing more schools that are inferior to some private unis.

Omeokachie: Believe MURIC at your own risk.
They are an arm of the APC and have been campaigning for them. This is just psychology they are using on unsuspecting members of the public so that when they start to campaign for APC again, they will claim to have called out the government in the past. The mosque is where they disseminate bigotted messages to the almajiris and illiterates among them and the MURIC is key player in mosque affairs. |
Politics › Re: The Parasitic North Of Nigeria by CodeTemplar: 7:45am On Mar 16, 2018*. Modified: 9:42am On Mar 16, 2018 |
trillville: Topics such as this one helped Buhari get elected. Nigerians need to stop thinking about natural resources and start thinking about increasing productivity.
The average Kano man is a farmer. Farming in Kano is a societal hobby. The issue is that most of this farm produce are not processed into higher yielding goods due to policy failures by the government.
How can any reasonable person call a hard worker a parasite because there is no oil on his land.
This topic is highly foolish. I believe only a southerner can defeat Buhari. Topics such these will only turn the north central and South west against the south east and South south. But think of it, how can any truly hardworking man with all the technological advancement still depend on others for regular help? What is the point if the average kano man produces so much children that the huge fruit of his hardwork still leaves him too poor to cater for them? A people who reject education because they aren't catching up with the other side are clearly parasitic. |

These same almajiris are armed with multiple PVCs as underaged voters to help install and re-install those who are partly responsible for their situation as leaders at the Federal level. It is a cycle that's tough to break from state and federal level. Once a group of individual benefit from the suffering of others, it become much harder for the sufferers to break free. |

Government don't have refineries in United State, UK, France, Italy etc. Refineries are own by private corporations. Nigeria govt should stop investing and wasting money on Refineries. The bold isn't correct. |

QuotaSystem: Your argument would have been valid if we had 100% voter turnout.
The fact that turnout is still averagely between 45-60% allows for significant electoral rigging since there would be unused ballot papers. That low turnout gives a greater room for illegal thumbprinting in the north. |

QuotaSystem: I am not trying to justify under aged voting, but which professional expatriate will supervise elections to prevent ballot box snatching, mass thumbprinting and cultism-related electoral violence in the south (e.g Rivers of blood)?
Who will take care of rigging in the south? With electronic registration, the south can't exceed their number unlike the north who already have underaged voters with multiple PVC. |
