PoliticsRe: Tinubu Rejects Advice To Withdraw Tax Reform Bills, Gives Reasons by CodeTemplarr: 7:47pm On Nov 01, 2024
I am with uncle Yekini on this. After sharing resources of the south almost equally, it will be wrong to allow the south work as slaves to accomodate industries then share the tax equally with people whose values does not support industries.

Chances are that the cabals have snuck in their own cut and thats pushing final cost up.

“We would like to emphasise that we can meet the nation’s demand for all petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. At present, we can load 2,900 trucks per day and we have also been evacuating petroleum products by sea.

“We advise IPMAN to register with us and make direct payment as we have more than enough petroleum products to satisfy the needs of their members,“
NNPCL should not be acting as a rent seeking middleman if they arent and down with the Cabal themselves.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Inflation Made Worse By Import Dependency, Informal Economy — Edun by CodeTemplarr: 6:40am On Nov 01, 2024
Local production is down yet they expect the people not to seek imports and at same time, submit their dollar and forex to govt to keep Nigeria as one.
Food. Clothes, Pharmaceuticals. Machines. Name it. Local production has suffered under this govt.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Inflation Made Worse By Import Dependency, Informal Economy — Edun by CodeTemplarr: 6:36am On Nov 01, 2024
This man should stop speaking ego massaging grammar and hit the nail on the head for uncle Yekini to know he is seriously failing. Lack of imports connotes local production and he cannot man up to those in charge to tell them squarely. Instead he pretends their few chesslike moves and CBN polixies is what controls Naira value.

It's going to be a win win situation for everybody if this new bill is passed
yes, but anything that threatens the robbery structure that favours the north is frowned at by them. They will rather hope things go back to normal(higher crude prices and debt cancellation) so they can eat from the other side more. That's why they can't risk a tax reform that can unsettle that culture of indolence killing production.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu's Top Tax Reform Adviser Replies Northern Governors's Objections To Vat by CodeTemplarr: 4:09pm On Oct 31, 2024
seunowa:
Hmmm... I wholly agree with you on the submission that production is the value adding process. But how best can the federal government address the fear of the northern governors?
There is no fear anywhere. It is rather greed.
They use their billions to do hajj and build mosques but want the fruita of another states that maintain LASTMA and KAI. That's greed and not fear.
The North are always united when placing demand on the matters affecting them. They always unite against the South. But the South are always divided with individualistic mentality.
...and it is always a devilish unity that involves robbing peter to pay paul.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu's Top Tax Reform Adviser Replies Northern Governors's Objections To Vat by CodeTemplarr: 3:51pm On Oct 31, 2024
Ikaeniyan0:
The concern of the Northern governors is valid, but if they went through the bill before complaining, they would have seen the bill will right the wrong.

I doubt the Northern governors even took a look at the bill before rejecting it. We can't continue like this in Nigeria
I disagree. Consumption is not a form of value addition. The value added to raw inputs are services rendered to the final consumer.
By asking that where goods are consumed be used to guage VAT accruing to states, they have committed a grave error because they reject consumption of alcojol and pork.
They are also not considering the exta efforts of the states where the goods are produced. Efforts like security and good business environment which cost money to maintain. A Lagos state that employs extra hands for security and orderliness(LASTMA and KAI) should be compensated for that effort. The only fair way to compensate such states is by giving more back to them for being the host to more industries and businesses. Imagine a Warri and Delta state that has chased out so many top oil companies fighting with another friendlier state putting in extra efforts to keep actiivities of oil companies going. At some point the friendlier state to oil companies may lost them entirely and that will likely inbolve that investor leaving Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu's Top Tax Reform Adviser Replies Northern Governors's Objections To Vat by CodeTemplarr: 3:29pm On Oct 31, 2024
“We share the sentiment expressed by the Northern Governors regarding the inequity inherent in the current model of derivation as a basis for distributing VAT revenue. This issue, in fact, affects many states across all geopolitical zones because the current derivation is mainly determined based on where VAT is remitted, rather than where goods or services are supplied or consumed.
More

Similarly, some states have argued that Lagos State, which hosts most corporate headquarters gets to claim source of all VAT paid by customers.

The northern governors raised this in the Monday’s communique.
“This is because companies remit VAT using the location of their headquarters and tax office and not where the services and goods are consumed
. In view of the foregoing, the Forum unanimously rejects the proposed Tax Amendments and calls on members of the National Assembly to oppose any that can jeopardise the well-being of our people,” the communique of the northern governors forum reads, in part.
Is value addition about consumption or about adding value? Production is the value adding process from what i understand. What should be considered is industrial and value adding activity on the final goods.

They want to be taking tax while another state that spends extra income to maintain security and business friendly environment dont get rewarded for their effort. The reason we dont move forward in this country. It is about grabbing from the weaker and smaller region.

If I got 100 million naira,I'll hire 50 people who can cook variety of meals ranging from Fried rice,Jollof rice,Ofada rice, Coconut rice,Soups,Salads,Moi-Moi, Turkey, Chicken,Goat meat ETC

I'll open a upscale food canteen in at least 20 locations in Lagos state with a distinct brand( The brand could be the name, design or advert style)

I'll focus on quality instead of quantity.... Nigerians love to buy expensive stuffs as long as they know you don't compromise.

For example,I could sell a piece of grilled turkey for 12,000 naira and people will buy it or a piece of well prepared catfish peppersoup for 15,000 naira....A big catfish costs just 4k or 5k so imagine the gain.

I'll make sure they open from Monday to Sunday ( Very possible, you only need a large staff and you pay them good)

I could go on but let me say if you got 100 million or less, and you want to double it in a space of 6 months, you can never go wrong with selling food, transportation and importation.

Even beggars and poor people eat not to talk of comfortable and rich people,As long as you're neat, respectful and good, you're destined to make it.

As for importation, you can import trending goods at 2000 naira and sell at 5000 naira or more.

Imagine a profit of 3k on 1000 goods sold,That's 3 million naira gain on just one product.
You have sweetmouth o. By the time your canteen managers loot you dry you go no say money get wings and im dey fly.
