yes, but anything that threatens the robbery structure that favours the north is frowned at by them. They will rather hope things go back to normal(higher crude prices and debt cancellation) so they can eat from the other side more. That's why they can't risk a tax reform that can unsettle that culture of indolence killing production.

I disagree. Consumption is not a form of value addition. The value added to raw inputs are services rendered to the final consumer.
By asking that where goods are consumed be used to guage VAT accruing to states, they have committed a grave error because they reject consumption of alcojol and pork.
They are also not considering the exta efforts of the states where the goods are produced. Efforts like security and good business environment which cost money to maintain. A Lagos state that employs extra hands for security and orderliness(LASTMA and KAI) should be compensated for that effort. The only fair way to compensate such states is by giving more back to them for being the host to more industries and businesses. Imagine a Warri and Delta state that has chased out so many top oil companies fighting with another friendlier state putting in extra efforts to keep actiivities of oil companies going. At some point the friendlier state to oil companies may lost them entirely and that will likely inbolve that investor leaving Nigeria.

Is value addition about consumption or about adding value? Production is the value adding process from what i understand. What should be considered is industrial and value adding activity on the final goods.

They want to be taking tax while another state that spends extra income to maintain security and business friendly environment dont get rewarded for their effort. The reason we dont move forward in this country. It is about grabbing from the weaker and smaller region.

I'll open a upscale food canteen in at least 20 locations in Lagos state with a distinct brand( The brand could be the name,design or advert style)

I'll focus on quality instead of quantity.... Nigerians love to buy expensive stuffs as long as they know you don't compromise.

For example,I could sell a piece of grilled turkey for 12,000 naira and people will buy it or a piece of well prepared catfish peppersoup for 15,000 naira....A big catfish costs just 4k or 5k so imagine the gain.

I'll make sure they open from Monday to Sunday ( Very possible,you only need a large staff and you pay them good)

I could go on but let me say if you got 100 million or less,and you want to double it in a space of 6 months,you can never go wrong with selling food, transportation and importation.

Even beggars and poor people eat not to talk of comfortable and rich people,As long as you're neat, respectful and good, you're destined to make it.

As for importation,you can import trending goods at 2000 naira and sell at 5000 naira or more.

Imagine a profit of 3k on 1000 goods sold,That's 3 million naira gain on just one product.

Arewa Civil Society on the other hand are for the bill, but it seems their motive for supporting the bill is the potential of social reforms that some Northern states will have to do in order to generate revenue and welcome investments.

The issue with the reality i bold up here is that for ages, these people have played the poverty and underdevelopment card to just flow of resources unto their regions but at the slighest chance, use the resources at their disposal for useless and unproductive things.
Hajj, employment based on connection and not competence or value. Wasteful and inflated projects.
90% of projects they end up doing are useless. Save for short roads and water rèlated or lighting related projects, the vast majority of what they do is uselesss.

These are just few of the useless things they engage in. They understand fully well that production is desirable but need to be sure the source of the current easy money is well exhausted. All out of hatred and bitter politics.

The new formulae is one that puts more money back into the hands of whoever generates more money. Such a formulae is needed to kickstart the much needed production thats lacking and making the Naira tumble forever. By rejecting this obviously fair and productive sharing of VAT in favour of the old order, they have demonstrated they have no plans to boost local productivity. They are okay with the north versus south resource grabbing battle that has halted the growth of the country from the roots.
A state like Lagos and Ogun will have less and less motivation to grow value-addition and the supporting atmosphere it needs.

The region is being mismanaged like that because of the independent mindset of the average Igbo man. They dont believe in asking for too much from their leaders and the leaders take full advantage of that.

The current arrangement looks like one where NNPCL has been captured by Bola and Wale Tuvbi and so they have to create a formula that allows OVH get a cut inevery litre NNPCL uses her leverage over Dangote to tunnel under her operations thats been ceded to OVH. That makes NNPCL to force Dangote to sell to no one else but NNPCL who has already ceded their privilege to distribute to Oando and VH through the agreement between them and OVH.

You should rather look at states that don't contribute anything to the centre in terms of taxes and natural resources. How can you say delta state cannot survive without faac when almost 15% of that faac revenue is derived from delta state
