Williamso:
It doesn't literally start with you and I as I'm not based in Abia cheesy..
But on a serious note, whether he rigs or not, people will vote for him. That's how politics is played in Nigeria. Sad but true... sad

Nigerians voting sentimentally since 1960!
There is no candidate that people don't vote for, but how many votes will he get?
APGA's Alex Otti will win Abia with such an overwhelming majority that rigging will be impossible.
PoliticsRe: Abia Guber: Aba Residents Revolt, Boo, Stone PDP Guber Candidate! by Collynzo22: 10:08am On Dec 22, 2014
It is obvious APGA has captured Abia, there is no 2 ways about it.
Abia MUST be better.

I think, it is written in English.

i. The BH group escalated as a result of abuse by security forces.

ii. The suggestion was to understand the roots of the crisis and seek a solution which could involve a mix of guns and other non violent methods.

That is based on my understanding of the crisis at the time.

I also think the successes of Ihejirika are been overrated, Boko Haram started pushing back in his own tenure.
1. By abuse you mean being dealt with decisively by the military. Killing a group of people who kill innocent citizens for no just cause, to you is abuse.
What does the ''violence begets violence'' in that quote mean?
The military carrrying out their constitutional duties by crushing a rebel group is what you term violence?
2. By ''non-violent'' methods you mean dialogue which you clearly stated in that post, isn't that what the government is currently doing by trying to talk then into a ceasefire? Why are you complaining now? You don't want dialogues anymore, I guess.

Your understanding of the crisis at that time which was in tandem with that of most northern elders and politicians is why the insurgency has ecalated to what it is now, I am sorry you have to live with it because it is already too late.
All you need to do now is to accept responsibility for the role you played in allowing this problem get to the level it is now.

Yes Boko haram started pushing back in Ihejirika's tenure because of those of you who were accusing him of high handedness amd genocide in dealing with a bunch of killers, he had to soft pedal a bit which gave them the chance to push back. The present Army Chief has perfected the act of treating then with kids glove, which is what you and most prominent northerners wers asking for.
Enjoy the monster you nurtured.
PoliticsUS Warns Its Citizens Ahead Of Gej's Declaration by Collynzo22(op): 9:48pm On Nov 10, 2014
Ahead of President Jonathan’s declaration to
contest the 2015 Presidential elections tomorrow, the US embassy in Nigeria has issued a warning to its citizens visiting or residing in Nigeria to be security conscious and stay away from public places. The message on its website (nigeria.usembassy.gov) reads thus: President
Goodluck Jonathan is expected to announce his candidacy for re-election on November 11 at 10 am in Eagle Square, Abuja. Heavy traffic in and arou eagle Square is expected. We also expect additional police and military checkpoints, additional security,
and possible road blocks. The U.S. Mission suggests
you avoid this area. The Mission would also like to remind all U.S.
citizens to review and ensure they practice the
following security precautions: In Public Areas Always be aware of your general surroundings
and try to avoid large crowds, especially political
marches, gatherings, and demonstrations. When in crowded public areas, remain vigilant for
signs of trouble. Before entering any establishment,
scan the area for suspicious activity to avoid
walking into a robbery in progress or other
trouble. Remember where the nearest fire exits and
other avenues of escape are located. If you hear shots fired, immediately get down on the ground.
Do not try to investigate or intervene. While Driving Due to increased security and heavy traffic delays,
the U.S. Mission expects a higher potential for traffic
accidents, roadblocks, and other street crime.
Traffic along Shehu Shagari Way, Ahmadu Bello
Way, Constitution Avenue, and Independence
Avenue often becomes completely stopped or blocked. U.S. citizens should alter their routes to
avoid these areas. Do not leave anything visible inside your vehicle
that might tempt someone, including purses,
backpacks, briefcases, laptops, cellular telephones,
and other electronic items. Store these items in the
trunk or under the seat. Keep windows up and
doors locked. Car-jackers target moving vehicles but thieves also frequent parking areas looking for
anything in plain sight worth taking. Remain alert while driving, especially when
stopped at traffic intersections and highway off-
ramps. Keep an eye on pedestrians and other
drivers around you. Leave at least half a car length
of space between you and the car in front of you in
case it becomes necessary to take evasive action. When leaving a public area, such as a shopping
area, restaurant, or airport, check your rearview
mirrors for any vehicles that may be following you.
If you feel you are being followed or notice
suspicious persons or vehicles near your vehicle
entrance, do not enter your property. Go to a safe area (such as a police station or the Embassy/
Consulate General/Guest Quarters, and so forth)
and call the Embassy or Consulate General.
On-Going Security Threat The U.S. Embassy continues to monitor closely the
ongoing threat posed by a Nigerian extremist
group and their intentions to carry out attacks
against the Nigerian Government and western
interests in Nigeria. U.S. citizens should continue to exercise caution.
Please maintain a high state of vigilance and
personal awareness, particularly in and around
Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, near Nigerian
government facilities, diplomatic missions, large
gathering places, hotels, markets and malls, and places of worship. Please be advised that Nigerian police and military
units may establish additional police checkpoints,
security, and road blocks in Abuja. If you are confronted by an armed individual Immediate compliance is suggested, avoid making
sudden movements, and do not offer up any form
of resistance. Any hesitation on your part could be
perceived as a threat, which may result in
unnecessary violence. We recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or
residing in Nigeria enroll in the Department of
State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
STEP enrollment gives you the latest security
updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or
nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you do not have internet access,
enroll directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or
Consulate.

tbaba1234:
That was not the only thing said on that thread, was it?

The kind of abuse as above.
I don't have the patience for diversions.
Tell us exactly what you meant by the below at a time when the Nigerian Army led by Gen. ihejirija were decisivelt dealing with boko haram.
tbaba1234:
There are always two sides to a story; Boko Haram justifies their actions by claiming the high-handedness of security on their members pushed them to the edge.

The truth is that the situation could have been handled much better by the security agencies. Violence begets violence. This is how the Jos story degenerated, one group attacks and the other retaliates till we have a situation that we can not control.

No one is saying the group has not gone beyond the limits. If you do not know the roots of a problem, how can you find a solution?

Their grievances were borne out of a sense of injustice. Their methods of expressing their grievances are distasteful but at least we have an understanding of how it all began.

The war against the group will not be won by guns alone, somehow there has to be some kind of dialogue as well.
PoliticsRe: Gej Wake Up And Destroy Boko Haram - @mrayedee by Collynzo22: 9:30pm On Nov 10, 2014
tbaba1234:
I am not talking about civilian casualties, i am talking about abuses.

And it has nothing to do with religion. Up till today, Igbos complain about the abuses of the Nigerian Army in Biafra and rightly so. Let us be sincere with ourselves.
Really? What abuses were you talking about below?

tbaba1234:
I would still talk against abuses. The Nigerian Army and Boko Haram should not be competing over who commits the worst abuse.

Unprofessionalism is what happened is some of those places like Bama where so many homes were scorched.

There are far better ways to fight.

So if you think, there should be no regard for innocent civilians, we can never agree.

We will agree on the fact that BH should be crushed but I choose efficiency in doing that.
Yeah can you tell us the magic formula the military can use in flusing out boko haram without any civilian casualty? Especially with all the hostages and residents of their captured towns.
PoliticsRe: Gej Wake Up And Destroy Boko Haram - @mrayedee by Collynzo22: 9:07pm On Nov 10, 2014
The Nigerian army led by another Chief of Army staff are now abiding by the ''rules of engagement'' as you advised why are you complaining now?
Hahaha
tbaba1234:
There are rules of engagement, the soldier must abide by those rules.. The issue here is not about boko haram, it is about the innocents been murdered by those paid to protect them. If civilians have been murdered indiscriminately, it has to be investigated.

Tbaba come and tell me what exactly you Islamists want. Have you forgotten this?
tbaba1234:
This is the most disgraceful thread, i have come across in a long time...

Anyone who condones the action of the JTF is as bad as boko haram.

JTF are apparently killing innocent people, chasing them out their homes and some people are backing it because it is particular tribe of people...

Blaming elders for calling against the murder of their people is silly... The Nigerian security operatives should have an intelligence unit that helps them infiltrate the group network... Killing innocent people will help Boko Haram more than it will help Nigeria.. Emotion is their most effective tool of recruitment.

We know how heavy handed the Nigerian Army can be;

May God be will the suffering people of Yobe, borno and plateau.
God bless General Ihejirika

So you want GEJ to fight boko haram now?
Have you forgotten threads like the below from Islamists like you and Maclatunji when Ihejirika was dealing with them mercilessly?
Can you guys ever be satisfied?
They Kill them you cry genocide, they treat them with kid gloves, you call the govt weak.
What exactly do you want?
