Alex Iwobi is currently with the Gunners in their pre-season tour in Singapore, but reports from Italy has it that the Serie A side Lazio are considering a €25 million offer for Iwobi.

According to Italian news outlet, ilmessaggero Lazio have identified Iwobi his Arsenal teammate, Lucas Perez, Sevilla’s Joaquin Correa and Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa as a direct replacement for Felipe Anderson who left Stadio Olimpico this summer to join West Ham for a club record transfer fee of £36 million.

Some troops of the Nigerian Army, who went missing in action, following the Boko Haram terrorists’ attacks on a military base in Jilli, Yobe State, and Bama, Borno State, have yet to be found, according to reliable military sources on Saturday.



Our correspondent learnt that the army bases in both locations were making frantic efforts to locate the displaced soldiers as well as recover at least three military gun trucks which were still missing.

“I can confirm to you that not all the ‘missing-in-action soldiers’ have been found. We are still looking for several of them. Some gun trucks are also yet to be recovered.

“We have just been promised logistics’ support by the army chief. This means the supply of more war equipment and food items, which were the major things carted away by the insurgents,”

a source said in an interview with COLOSSUS GISTS.



The number of soldiers still missing as of Saturday was uncertain as the army authorities had kept mum on the development.



The army base in Jilli was reportedly attacked last week by the Boko Haram insurgents when at least 20 soldiers were said to have died and about 20 others injured.



This was preceded by a Boko Haram ambush of a military convoy in Bama, Borno State, where hundreds of soldiers were displaced in the ensuing gunfire and some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force said to have been killed.



Some soldiers reportedly died also with conflicting figures from multiple sources.



One of the sources, close to Bama, had said, “About 10 corpses of soldiers ambushed in Borno have been recovered. The army is still looking for the rest of them. The terrorists are said to be from the Al-Barnawi faction.”



The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen. Texas Chukwu, had said on Wednesday that the attack on Jilli was “very unfortunate” while denying that any soldier was killed in the incident.



Chukwu also stated that the terrorist attack on Bama to “cart away operational vehicles” was repelled by troops, adding that only an officer and a soldier sustained injuries.



Our correspondent, however, learnt that the loss in both army locations was so huge that it forced the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and other top commanders from the army headquarters, Abuja, to visit the North-East and assess the situation on the ground.



The army chief thereafter promised the 21 Brigade in Bama “adequate logistics support” to aid their operations.”



Our correspondent learnt on Saturday that there was still tension in Jilli and Bama over soldiers who had yet to be found, either dead or alive.



Multiple sources confirmed to our correspondent that the gun trucks and other ammunition, carted away by the insurgents, had also yet to be recovered.

“We are trying to boost the troops’ morale to prepare for other assaults. It is clear that the terrorists are trying to remain relevant. They are in search of arms and ammunition and that is why they target our bases. We will not allow them,” a source added.

A journalist said to be well-informed about the sect’s activities, Ahmad Salkida, had taken to Twitter on Wednesday to describe the death toll in the attack on Jilli as “staggering.”



Ahmad said,

“There should be a national mourning. We had never this type of incident before in the Lake Chad crisis that the military been caught on the wrong footing as it’s evident in the latest attack on Jilli.

“There is a grave sense of despair among officers and men. The toll is staggering,” say multiple sources.

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has killed several Boko Haram Terrorists at Bulagaye and Kwakwa areas of Borno State.

Adesanya said upon receiving reports of the attack, the ATF scrambled Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform and the Alpha Jet aircraft to locate the fleeing terrorists.

Consequently, he said the insurgents, who were seen assembling at a staging area in Bulagaye began to disperse upon sighting the attack platforms.

“However, the NAF fighter aircraft acquired and attacked the fleeing insurgents with bombs and rockets. As a result of the air strikes, the terrorists were neutralized while their vehicles and weapons were destroyed, leading to a thick cloud of black smoke,” he stated.
According to Adesanya, intelligence reports later revealed that a smaller bunch of the terrorists had re-assembled in a settlement known as Kwakwa with the ATF conducting a wave of strikes on the location.

He said the ISR platform successfully identified the terrorists’ location and vectored the attack platforms to the target area, which was attacked with bombs and rockets.

The NAF Spokesman also said that some of the terrorists were seen fleeing towards a nearby settlement and further attacked with rockets and then neutralized.

He promised that the Air Task Force would continue to conduct missions in support of the efforts of our troops in the counterinsurgency operations in the Northeast while also providing Close Air Support when requested to do so.

When I think back, I find that all I have tried to do is to take each day at a time and make constant efforts to insert God into every facet of my life. Music became a major part of my treatment and therapy when those close to me saw the noticeable change in my voice, which happened after the plane crash.

At that time, all the plans my parents and I had for my future were completely derailed, understandably. As my recovery journey began, my new plan was no plan at all: take each day as it comes and live as much as you can in the present.

Because of this new mindset, I had no grand plan for my future for a while and my main priority was to get better and gain back as much of my independence as I could. After each surgery, I was able to do more and more by myself, and it was in this way that I was able to finish secondary school, graduate with a BA in Economics and begin my MBA.

In all honesty, all I ever wanted was for God to enforce His will over my life, and whenever I look back, I feel that He did exactly that. Even when it seemed like I was encountering obstacles everywhere I turned, I really believed He has been there all along.

In 2015, you graduated from University of Saint Thomas in Texas, USA with a first class, and you also got invited into six honour societies including International Economics Honour Society, how did this make you feel?

Hard work will always yield results; it has no choice. Those were the words my mother said to me as I cried over my first ever college midterm score: a C in first level Philosophy. I cleaned my tears and decided to make those words my college motto.

If I wanted A, I had to put in the work for that A and it was a wonderful, satisfying feeling to see my mother’s words play out in my reality as a college student. Graduating in the top 10 of my year was a fulfillment of the truth of my motto, and I was so humbled to receive the additional honour of being student commencement speaker for my graduating class.

More than anything else, my academic achievements were my ultimate tribute to the 60 angels of the plane crash. My motivation was their loved ones left behind. I needed to show them that this life that had been saved that day had not been saved in vain, that it was excelling, living well and making them proud. I am happy I was able to give them that much, at least.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of two male adults, when a train hit a commercial bus, at Pen Cinema in Agege, Lagos.


The General Manager of LASEMA, Mr Adesina Tiamiyu in a statement on Friday in Lagos, said that the agency received a distress call at 8.57a.m via the emergency toll-free number.


Tiamiyu said that the call was pertaining to a passenger train that hit a parked commercial bus.


He said that the accident forced three of the hanging passengers to fell off the moving train.

“Unfortunately, two adult male lost their lives and were taken to the mortuary by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SHEMU).

“One adult sustained injuries and was transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH),” the LASEMA boss said.

He said that other agencies that responded at the scene of the accident include the Nigeria Police force (Railway Police Division), the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The herdsmen attack led to a serious pandemonium and forced the closure of the market as traders ran helter-shelter to avoid being caught in the attack.

Besides, no fewer than 15 people sustained varying degrees of injuries, most of whom are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jalingo where the corpses of the slain victims were also deposited.

Confirming the incident in a telephone interview, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP David Missal, said no policeman was killed in the attack.

But COLOSSUS GISTS checks at the FMC revealed that the corpse of a policeman was among those deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

Missal, however, stated that the victims were trailed to the market by the assailants on the grounds that the cows they brought to the market for sale were stolen.

According to him,

“Information available to us indicates that the attackers killed the yet- to- be identified people because the cows they brought to the market were their cows, which were stolen during the crisis in Lau LGA of the state.

He, however, declined to confirm whether the victims were from Mayo Lope in Lau LGA, saying the command was still gathering intelligence.

“We are still gathering intelligence on the attack. We are trying to find out the perpetrators who took the law into their hands, instead of reporting to us; if really a case of cattle rustling was established,” he said.

A police officer who witnessed the Kaduna incident said,

“the policemen brought the corpses of their colleagues and blocked the road leading to the command and started shooting sporadically in the air”.

According to him, a woman whose identity could not be immediately established was hit by the bullet and was rushed to the hospital where she died due to excessive bleeding.

Our correspondent gathered that the policemen were later disarmed and detained.

However reacting to the incident, spokesman of the command, Mukhtar Aliyu said in a statement that the policemen were mourning their dead colleagues when an accidental discharge occurred.

Aliyu said in a statement that the policemen who brought the corpses of their colleagues were in deep mourning mood.

According to the statement,

“the police team engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle and at the end, two of the unidentified gunmen were killed and one AK 47 rifle was recovered.

“Unfortunately, two police officers lost their lives in the incident. However, the situation has been promptly brought under control. In their deep mourning mood, some police officers who conveyed the corpses of their late colleagues to Kaduna encountered an unfortunate incident where there was an accidental discharge of gun-shot which hit a female member of the public. She was rushed to the hospital but sadly died from sustained wounds,” he said.

According to the statement, one of the suspects was killed by the police during the gun duel.

“One AK 47 rifle with 16 rounds of live ammunition was recovered while the policemen are already combing the surrounding forest to arrest the fleeing bandits,”the statement added.

It further observed a minute silence for those who lost their lives in the attack.

The resolution followed a motion moved under matters of urgent public importance by Hon. Abdulrasaq Namdas (APC, Adamawa) on the matter.

He noted concern that 16 communities in the southern zone of the state had been involved in reprisal attacks leading to loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira.

He said the residents of affected communities had been rendered homeless with over 200 houses had been razed down.

The lawmaker, who had last year indicated he would quit politics and won’t seek a re-election to parliament because of the general belief that politicians are corrupt, said there is no evidence that the ministry executed the zonal intervention projects in his communities.

He said though the sum of N30 million had been earmarked for each of the years, no project was carried out from the money, noting that the few interventions in the zone were those carried out by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He, therefore, sought answers on the whereabouts of the constituency allocations to his community.

Before the latest judgment by Justice Ojukwu, the judge, on his fundamental human rights, Dasuki had previously perfected bails granted him by four different judges of high courts including Justice Ademola Adeniyi and Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Abuja Federal High Court and Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf and Justice Peter Affen of the FCT High Courts.

The ECOWAS Court of Justice also ordered his immediate release from detention.

At the time of this report, friends, associates, and well-wishers of the former NSA had stormed his residence eagerly awaiting his final release from detention by the federal government.

All 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped for more than two weeks deep inside a flood Thai cave have been rescued, a Thai navy SEAL unit said today Tuesday, a successful end to a perilous mission that has gripped the world.

"The 12 Wild Boars and coach have emerged from the cave and they are safe," the Thai navy SEAL unit said on its official Facebook page.

The "Wild Boars" soccer team and their coach got trapped on June 23 while exploring the cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai after soccer practice and a rainy season downpour flooded the tunnels.

British divers found the 13, hungry and huddled in darkness on a muddy bank in a partly flooded chamber several kilometres inside the complex, on Monday last week.

After pondering for days how to get the 13 out, a rescue operation was launched on Sunday when four of the boys were brought out, tethered to rescue divers.

Another four were rescued on Monday and the last four boys and the coach were brought out on Tuesday.

Celebrations will be tinged with sadness over the loss of a former Thai navy diver who died last Friday while on a re-supply mission inside the cave in support of the rescue.

Steve Ditko, the Marvel Comics artist who gave the world the woven webs and soaring red-and-blue shape of Spider-Man and the other-worldly shimmer of Doctor Strange, has died at age 90. Ditko was found June 29 in his Manhattan apartment and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No further details were available.

Ditko, along with writer Stan Lee, introduced the world to Peter Parker and his alter-ego Spider-Man in 1962 in an issue of "Amazing Fantasy." A year later, Ditko introduced the world to surgeon-turned-metaphysical superhero Doctor Strange. Spider-Man would go on to become arguably the most indispensable and recognizable character in the Marvel universe, and Doctor Strange a member of its permanent pantheon.

"Comics are unimaginable without his influence," tweeted Patch Zircher, a comic-book artist who has worked on "Batman" and "Superman" for DC Comics.

"He co-created Spider-man, which will be remembered as significant as Doyle creating Sherlock Holmes or Fleming creating James Bond."

The son of a steel-mill worker, Ditko was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in 1927. He began working in comics in the 1950s in New York, eventually landing a drawing job with Marvel forerunner Atlas Comics.

Jack Kirby, Lee's artist on the Fantastic Four and many other Marvel characters, took a stab at creating Spider-Man in 1961, but Lee was unsatisfied and gave the gig to Ditko. One of his later creations was Squirrel Girl, who after her debut in 1992 became a cult favorite among comics fans. He maintained a writing studio in Manhattan until his death.

The Samara Communal Systems utility company says the combination of a heat wave and "thousands of guests" have meant it's providing 10% more cold water than normal, causing water pressure to drop in some neighborhoods.

The company advises locals to "save water—take showers in pairs," adding a smiley face to its message, which came via a press release. Samara is due to host England's quarterfinal game against Sweden on Saturday.

Every edition of the FIFA World Cup presents an opportunity to witness and experience the use of a new football. The football used for the world cup tournaments usually go through rigorous manufacturing and testing procedure. This is as a result of FIFA’s continuous commitment to ensure optimum competition conditions at every level of the game.

From the 1930 tournament where the Tiento ball was used to the 1950 edition where the Duplo T, the first ball to have the syringe valve, host countries were usually required to provide the balls which were used during the matches.

However, in 1962, the Crack Top Star was to be used in the World Cup in Chile but veteran FIFA referee Ken Aston was unimpressed with the ball provided by the Chileans for the opening match against Italy. He had to send for a European ball which was used for the second half.

Various matches during the tournament also used different balls, with rumors that most of the European teams didn't trust the locally produced balls.

And so to ensure quality control, uniformity and better visibility on monochrome TV screens, FIFA from the 1970 edition Mexico began to take responsibility for providing the match balls for its competitions, partnering with sports equipment manufacturing giant Adidas. From then till date, there have been 13 official FIFA match balls all produced by Adidas.

Fuel Tanker Explosion - Over 30 vehicles Burnt, Lives Lost In Lagos | Watch Survivor Testimony

A Nigerian man identified as Goodluck, has taken to social media to reveal how his wife gave him the surprise of his life after their landlord came to the house to request for their rent, a month after the previous one expired.

Narrating how it happened, Goodluck said:

“My wife surprised me today. My landlord came to my flat today and embarrassed me by shouting to the hearing of the whole neighbours that my rent expired last month and he needed repayment.

As for me, my pocket is not telling me good story, but surprisingly I mean to my greatest surprise, my sweet wife felt humiliated and dragged me inside her room and brought something out which she asked me to break open.

I obeyed and used a hammer to break it open. My people do you know what I saw? It was money and I counted it diligently to be #147,400. Men I no fit shout. I called the landlord immediately to send me his account no.

Sulaiman Badmus, who graduated today in Mechanical Engineering will soon witness his father Abdulwaheed Badmus feel the tap of the Dundee bonnet as he graduates from Scottish Law tomorrow.

The pair will follow in the footsteps of Sulaiman's sister, Mariam, who graduated from the University two years ago. Meanwhile, Abdulwaheed’s wife, Khadijat, who will be watching the ceremony, is also due to finish her own degree in Scottish Law later this year.

Sulamain said that the friendliness of Scottish people initially attracted the Badmus family from Ibadan in Nigeria to Scotland.

Francis Uzoho claims to be 19 years old. On this issue, Colin Udoh, the former press officer of the Super Eagles, has added his voice to the ongoing controversy over the real age of Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho.

Udoh took to his Twitter handle on Tuesday to share a picture of Uzoho at 14 in 2013 at the Under 17 camp, adding that looks are not determinants of age.

At 19, Uzoho is the youngest player in the 2018 World Cup.

In a bid to aid music students' professional pursuit, veteran gospel musician, Ebenezer Obey has granted scholarship awards to 10 music students. The students received the award at the maiden edition of the Ebenezer Obey Music Foundation (EOMF) on Saturday, June 16, 2018, in Abeokuta.


The scholarship, which is in three categories were given to music students in Universities, Polytechnic and College of Education.


While music students in Universities receive N100,000, their counterparts in Polytechnic and College of Education get N75,000 and N50,000 respectively.


University undergraduates who benefitted from the Ebenezer Obey Music Foundation include; Songodara Samuel Oluwafemi and Adeleye Joshua Omolade from Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU; Adarabierin Oba from the University of Lagos, UNILAG; and Ajala Docas Oluwaseun from, LASU.


Also, two Polytechnic students benefited from the scholarship award. They are; Aiyeleru Abiodun Aron and Adejoro Abiodun Dairo from The Polytechnic Ibadan.


While Akinbode Temitope Taiwo and Ogunleye Christiana Ebunoluwa from the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta; Osho Oyekunle from the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso and Gbenga Dada Samuel from the College of Education Monotechnic are also among the beneficiaries.


Speaking about his foundation, Obey said his foundation will consist of music and life skills institute, as well as a CBT center and modern recording studio.

“This vision became clearer when I launched the foundation on my 75th birthday,” he said.

“It’s main objective is to give back to the society, especially through scholarship awards and the establishment of youths empowerment center.

The 20-year-old rapper, was leaving a motorsports store shortly before 4 p.m. when two men in a dark coloured SUV shot and killed him in broad daylight in an apparent robbery at Deerfield Beach, said Keyla Concepción, Broward County sheriff department public information officer.

Videos taken at the scene on Monday and shared on social media showed the rapper’s slumped body in the driver’s seat of a black BMW sports car as a bystander attempted to take his pulse.

Broward County deputies are actively looking for the two men and asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to come forward, Concepción said.

JAMB To Hold 2018 Admission Policy Meeting To Kick-Start The Admission Process

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed June 26 for the 2018 admission policy meeting to kick-start the admission process into the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Benjamin said;

“The main reason for the meeting is to define all modalities for admission of qualified candidates into the nation’s tertiary institutions for the 2018/2019 academic session.

“The board has concluded arrangements for this year’s admission policy meeting with all stakeholders in the education sector.

“This kind of meeting is to give room for contributions as well as ensure fairness and equity in the conduct of the 2018/2019 admission process.

“We are expecting in attendance all heads of tertiary institutions across the country.

“We shall be convening this meeting, for the first time, in the South-West, Osun precisely.

“All the South-West governors have been invited coupled with other critical stakeholders.

“To ensure that there is no misrepresentation of facts or information, there will be a live coverage of the meeting on NTA from 11:30a.m. to 1:30p.m, so that Nigerians can follow the proceedings,” he said.

Benjamin said that in addition, Nigerians would also be able to get first-hand information on how the admission would be conducted, especially the requirements needed.

He assured Nigerians that the board would continue to ensure it brought on board innovations and reforms that would give the candidates an edge over admission process challenges.

“Our determined objective is to ensure that every prospective candidate is treated fairly and equally under a transparent platform.

“We will also continue to strive to open up space for healthy competition.

“As it was done in 2017, this year’s admission process will also be conducted through the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).

“This system eliminates all human interference in the admission exercise, where candidates are selected purely on the basis of defined criteria,” Benjamin said.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards gave “Black Panther” its first taste of awards glory, with Marvel’s blockbuster taking home four honors including two awards for its star, Chadwick Boseman.

Boseman quickly handed off his best hero award to James Shaw Jr., who wrestled an assault-style rifle away from a gunman in a Tennessee Waffle House in April. “This is going to live at your house,” Boseman told Shaw, giving him the show’s golden popcorn award.

The actor said while it was an honor to be recognized for playing a superhero, it was more important to “acknowledge the heroes we have in real life.”

Boseman, who starred as T’Challa in “Black Panther,” also won the award for best performance in a movie. Michael B. Jordan, who played the villain Erik Killmonger, won best villain.

“Stranger Things” was the top television honoree, winning four awards including a repeat win for best show.

The awards were handed out Saturday and were broadcast Monday night.

The show is known for bringing fresh talent to light, as well as acknowledging established celebrities in more quirky categories like best kiss and most frightened performance. Host Tiffany Haddish donned a variety of costumes throughout the ceremony, including nods to classic film and TV roles such as Holly Golightly from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and Starlet from “The Carol Burnett Show.”

She kicked off the show with a “Black Panther” skit, foreshadowing the film’s big night, noting in her opening monologue that is it the first African-American film to earn more than $1 billion at the box office. Throughout the night, Haddish also parodied other hit films such as “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “A Quiet Place.”

“Black Panther,” about a king and virtuous superhero of the technologically-advanced nation of Wakanda, broke barriers earlier this year as the first Marvel film to feature a black lead. Its massive popularity overshadowed competing films like “Wonder Woman” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Haddish, who also won an award for her breakthrough role in “Girls Trip,” noted that she is the first black woman to host the awards show, which is in its 27th year.

The gay teen comedy “Love, Simon” won for best kiss for a scene between Nick Robinson and Keiynan Lonsdale.

While Robinson wasn’t there to accept the award, Lonsdale gave some encouraging words to LGBTQ youth.

“I just want to say to every kid,” he said. “You can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love no matter what gender.”

In addition to winning best show, kids of “Stranger Things” also won awards for most frightened performance, best musical moment and best performance for Millie Bobby Brown. The actress, who plays Eleven in the series, couldn’t make the event because of a broken kneecap. Brown accepted the award for best performance via satellite.

Other winners included Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom in “Riverdale” for scene stealer, Gal Gadot for best fight as Wonder Woman and the young cast of “It” for best on-screen team.

“Gaga: Fight Foot Two” won the award for best documentary. The Netflix feature followed Lady Gaga during the production of her fifth studio album “Joanne.”

Common presented Lena Waithe with the trailblazer award for her activism, writing and “deeply honest art.”

During her acceptance speech, Waithe paid tribute to “Paris is Burning,” the 1990 documentary released about the drag scene in New York during the late ’80s. She called those documented, many who aren’t alive anymore, “the bravest human beings that ever lived”

“I’m doing what we as a society should have done a long time ago and give them the glory and shine that they deserve,” she said.

Chris Pratt mixed humor and religious messages while accepting the show’s generation award, telling the crowd to “breathe. If you don’t, you’ll suffocate.”

He also urged fans to “learn to pray” and accept that they are imperfect.

The show also featured musical performances by Nick Jonas and Mustard, as well as rising stars and Beyoncé protégés Chloe x Halle.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has given an approval for the commencement of commercial operations of the Abuja Light rail project.

At the weekend, a seven-member technical team from the corporation was in Abuja on a fact-finding mission to ascertain the readiness of rail Project for commercial operations.

The team visited the stations and the rolling stockyard boarding the newly acquired train coaches and also received briefs from the chief resident engineer on the level of completion of the project.

Speaking at the end of the visit, the team leader, Mr Akin Osinowo, explained that the visit was a follow up to the previous one to determine the readiness of the Abuja rail system.

Osinowo added that the visit was also to ascertain if the rail is ready for passenger operations, especially as it relates to safety, engineering and repairs, operation, management and other issues, in line with the Nigerian Railway Act of 1955 and in accordance with global best practices.

He expressed satisfaction at the level of development and work completion and assured the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) that the rail system would receive all technical and regulatory support from the corporation at every level of its operation.

Responding, on behalf of the transportation secretariat, the director of BRT and transport regulation, Engineer Wilson Unogwu assured the team that the administration would constantly interact with the corporation to ensure a seamless take off of Abuja Light Rail Mass Transit.
