President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate to confirm the appointments of 23 members of the National Population Commission.

In separate letters, which were read by President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, at the plenary on Tuesday, Buhari also sought legislative approval for the appointments of one National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and two non-judicial practioners as members of the Federal Judicial Service Commission.

The NPC nominees are Nwanne Johnny Nwabuisi (Abia), Dr. Clifford T.O. Zirra (Adamawa), Mr. Chidi Christopher Ezeoke (Anambra), Mr. Isa Audu Buratai (Borno), Navy Captain Charles Iyam Ogwa (rtd) (Cross River), Mr. Richard Odibo (Delta), Okereke Darlington Onuabuchi (Ebonyi), Mr. A. D. Olusegun Aiyejina (Edo) and Mr. Ejike Ezeh (Enugu).

Others are Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Danburam (Gombe), Prof. Uba S.F. Nnabue (Imo), Dr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Durunguwa (Kaduna), Sulaiman Ismaila Lawal (Kano), Prof. Jimoh Habibat Isah (Kogi), Dr. Sa’adu Ayinla Alanamu (Kwara), Nasir Isa Kwarra (Nassarawa), Mr. Aliyu Datti (Niger), Mrs. Seyi Aderinokun Olusanya (Ogun), Dr. Oladiran Garvey Iyantan (Ondo), Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Hussain (Osun), Mrs. Cecilia Arsun Dapoet (Plateau), Dr. Ipalibo Harry (Rivers) and Sale S. Esther Oyema, Lucy Ejike, Roland Ezuruike, Ndidi Nwosu and Paul Kehinde have won five medals for Nigeria from weightlifting at the in Gold Coast Australia.

The five medals from weightlifting are three gold and two silver medals from the men and women’s lightweight and heavyweight powerlifting division.

Roland Ezuruike beat his compatriot Paul Kehinde to win gold in the powerlifting event of the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Roland Ezuruike, Paul Kehinde win Gold and Silverplay Esther Oyema, Lucy Ejike, Roland Ezuruike and Paul Kehinde have won Nigeria four medals from weightlifting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia.

At the end of the event, Ezuruike had a total of 224.3 points to claim gold ahead of Kehinde who had a total of 219.9 points.

Kehinde beat England’s Ali Jawad by a distance as he had a total of 182.7.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said Nigeria does not need President Muhammadu Buhari as her leader in 2019, noting that Monday’s declaration of reelection bid by the President was an ambition dead on arrival.

The Ekiti State governor also noted that if President Buhari is re-elected, he would kill the country.

Governor Fayose spoke to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Monday on the President’s intention, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi.

He said if President Buhari was unable to read the handwriting on the wall and know when to call it quit, Nigerians would show him the exit door in 2019 by voting him out of office.

Fayose opined that the president was not only too old to lead the country well, he had bungled the opportunity given him by his woeful performance.

A lecturer at the University of Ilorin, Kamoldeen Ajijolakewu has reportedly designed a low-temperature refrigerator which works at -45 oC. The refrigerator which is said to be the first of its kind in the history of the University has the capacity to freeze water or any liquid kept in it within three minutes.



According to Unilorin Bulletin, the machine, designed by Ajijolakewu, who designed the machine lectures at the Department of Microbiology in the University’s Faculty of Life Sciences is more powerful than conventional refrigerators as it works at -45 oC while the conventional ones work between the range of -10 oC and -20 oC.



Talking about his invention, Ajijolakewu said research is ongoing on the need to further reduce the refrigerator’s effective temperature, adding that the target is to design a refrigerator that works at -79oC or -80oC.

“This locally designed low-temperature refrigerator will be very useful in laboratories, restaurants and in the business of preservation of items or organisms.

“Lyophilised industrial or medically important organisms, cell lines and plant and animal cell tissue cultures require a negative-range low temperature refrigeration system to maintain them for a longer time.

“From this system, they can be accessed and rejuvenated for subsequent use in the laboratory while maintaining all their characteristics.” the lecturer said.

The refrigerator is one of the products the University of Ilorin presented for exhibition at the on-going 7th Trade Fair, holding at the Baseball Field, Adewole area, in Kwara State.

President Muhammadu Buhari has officially announced his intention to seek re-election in the 2019 presidential election under the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). President Buhari stated this at the national executive committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today. The information was tweeted by the Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai.

The Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof Adaobi Obasi Says Nina Will Under Go Moral Rehabilitation Upon Return From BBnaija House

Femi Fani-Kayode has blasted pastors under the auspices of the Arewa Pastors Non-denominational Initiative for Peace in Nigeria, who paid President Muhammadu Buhari a visit on Thursday.

A group of over 45,000 pastors, made up of the Arewa Pastors Non-denominational Initiative for Peace in Nigeria accused their colleagues of inciting violence and working against President Buhari.

Leader of the group, Bishop John Richard, endorsed Buhari for second term owing to his achievements in security.

Reacting, Fani-Kayode took to his twitter page, describing the pastors as hungry and descendants of Cain.

The PDP Chieftain wrote “Some hungry Pastors from Arewa Pastors Peace Initiative visited Buhari today to endorse him.

The Plateau Government says it is initiating talks with its development partners, multinationals like Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and local organisations to develop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the state.

The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Dan Manjang, disclosed this on Wednesday in Jos when the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau Council, paid him a courtesy visit.

Manjang said that the desire of the government to partner with these organisations was in a bid to facilitate the development of ICT skills of its people, especially the youths, through training using these platforms.

“We are consulting with our development partners and will soon commence talks with Facebook, Google, Microsoft and some other local organisations to ensure the skills of the Plateau people are harnessed,’’ he said.

The commissioner said the state government was working toward organising a science and technology summit, adding that government hoped the event would herald the formulation of a viable science policy.

“The relevant technology centres in our state presently produces mobile aids for physically challenged people and our science production centre produces laboratory equipment for secondary and tertiary institutions.

“The works from our technology incubation centre have been presented at international forums such as a drone produced there was presented at a competition in Indonesia.

“We emerged third at the competition; a tractor and bullet-proof vests and many more have been produced at the centre.

Spying on your spouse’s phone in Saudi Arabia now carries a 133, 000 dollars fine and up to a year in prison, under a new law that aims to “protect morals of individuals and society and protect privacy’’.

The punishment would apply to both men and women in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom, according to a statement on Tuesday by the ministry of culture.

It could tend to protect husbands from their wives.

As in many other parts of the Muslim world, Saudi laws on divorce, inspired by scripture, often required wives seeking alimony to provide evidence of abuse or sexual promiscuity.

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Monday launched Rivers State Tax Management [RIVTAMIS] and issuance of Rivers State Tax Identification Number [RIVTIN] to eliminate difficulty in doing business.

The governor said at the ceremony in Port Harcourt that the adoption of the two policies was also to avert multiple taxation.

He noted that the innovations were part of the state government’s commitment of formulating ways for the ease of doing business in Rivers.

Wike stressed that the new tax reform packages would identify all formal and informal businesses in the state to help the government in planning for development.

He noted that with the digital platforms, tax payments could be made from anywhere.

“From first April 2018, all businesses are required to obtain their RIVTIN to pay taxes, levies and fines to the Rivers State Government.

“All banks have been mobilized to generate RIVTIN for all those who want to make payments to the Rivers State Government, any business that fails to comply by June 1, 2018 will be appropriately sanctioned,” Wike said.

The governor received the first RIVTIN Card from the Executive Chairman of Rivers State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Adoage Norteh, on the occasion.

Norteh said that the tax payment system had been sanitized to check multiple taxation, adding that the process would facilitate tax payment, self-service and build the revenue of the state.

“Right from the comfort of your office, you can obtain your tax clearance certificate and tax exemption,” he noted.

The chairman noted that the tax payer had a duty to reciprocate the tax friendliness of the state government.

The President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Industry, Mr Emi Membere-Otaji, stated that the business community was satisfied with the innovations that had eliminated multiple taxation.

A spokesman for Heritage Bank, Mr Fabian Briggs promised the State Government that banks would cooperate to ensure that the programme was successful.

The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of RIVTIN to the governor and his cabinet members.

President Buhari's Minister Owns 12 Luxury Homes, N93m Printing Press, 25 Cars - Aide Blows Whistle

Victor Oluwadamilare, Special Assistant Media to Mr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, has accused his boss of greed and wickedness.

Mr. Olwuadamilare made the allegations in a letter to the minister. Dated 12 March and exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, the former spokesperson’s letter said Mr. Adebayo owes him the sum of N13million in emoluments from November 2015 to the end of March 2018.

Despite Mr. Shittu’s refusal to pay, said Oluwadamilare, the minister has been living a lush life.

According to the spokesman, Mr. Shittu, within a space of 29 months in office, now owns no fewer than 12 luxury houses in Abuja, Lagos, and Ibadan. He also claimed that a few months ago, the minister bought a brand new N93 million printing press. Also, said Mr. Oluwadamilare, Mr. Shittu has bought over 25 luxury vehicles for himself, his family members, concubines, and cronies, despite having eight official vehicles attached to your office.

The aide equally stated that the minister has spent way beyond his legitimate earnings on his gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State, sponsored no fewer than 22 members of his family and cronies, including under-aged children, on Muslim pilgrimages in Saudi Arabia.

“Of course, everyone in Oyo State knows about your investments that run into hundreds of millions of naira in your less than three years in the office. These are currently scattered all over Oyo State,” said Mr. Oluwadamilare.

He equally stated that since Mr. Shittu’s inauguration as a minister, he has collected over N50 million in salaries, travel expenses running into several millions of naira and estacode more than $800,000.

The aide said he wrote to the minister on behalf of himself and his colleague, Mr. Tajudeen Imam, whom Mr. Shittu appointed Special Assistant (Special Duties) 25 months ago.

Mr. Oluwadamilere said he was appointed as Special Assistant (Media) through a letter (HMC/026/Vol. 11/17), dated November 23, 2015. The appointment letter stated that his “monthly emolument will be decided in line with the existing practice”.

Despite the appointment being properly documented, Mr. Oluwadamilare said the minister has refused to pay him. The refusal to pay, he added, necessitated verbal reminders after which the minister made promises to pay, but which were never kept.

“I was forced to mention the issue of non-payment of my emoluments to a number of your friends and close associates, who promised to talk to you on the imperative of paying the emoluments of your aides. Indeed, I got several feedbacks on your promise to address the issue, but, after many months nothing happened,” he stated.

Before Mr. Shittu’s appointment as a minister said Mr. Oluwadamilare, he was planning to run for the governorship of Oyo State. In aid of the plan, Mr. Oluwadamilare said he set up a team of journalists under the name of Adebayo Shittu Media Office, using his own personal office at 36 Ososami Street, off Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

“I did not stop at that, I recruited and enlisted the support of seasoned journalists and experienced media managers, to coordinate and chart a media plan for your political ambition, ahead of your other competitors. I was the Chairman and convener, for which I spent my personal resources. President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated German Chancellor, Angela Merkel on her re-election for another term.

In a letter to the German leader, the President said he was “most delighted to learn of the successful conclusion of the inter-Party negotiations to form a new Government after the last election in Germany.”

President Buhari told Chancellor Merkel that her victory “is a testimony of your hard-work, competence and trust of the German people, qualities which are much admired in many parts of the world especially here in Africa.”

Stressing that “We greatly value your humanity and concern for refugees,” the Nigerian leader, on behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, wished his German counterpart and her new Cabinet, “a successful new term of office.”

A white Ferrari 458 Spider, seized by the U.K Police after Zahid Khan, a millionaire businessman was stopped by West Midlands Police officers on April 5th last year, was reportedly crushed by the authorities.

Zahid Khan who disclosed that he was stopped by the Police because they suspected the car was stolen, however debunked their claim, and further disclosed that he had legitimately bought the car at auction, via a middleman, and had spent “a lot of time and money” on the vehicle.

Zahid Khan who shared a video of his £200k Ferrari crushed by the West Midlands Police on his Facebook page, wrote;

“This is my Ferrari the police crushed unlawfully!

It has taken them almost 1 year to release the video. I saved my ass off to buy this car and it was of sentimental value to me and my family. This money could have gone to a good cause, as a Ferrari broken for parts is worth more then the car as a whole!”

However West Midlands Police who defended themselves over crushing the car, claimed that the car had no valid insurance and was a Category B vehicle – which are officially classed as unroadworthy, meaning the shell had to be destroyed.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said the video is in relation to a trial which is due to start next month.

They said: “A group of men and a woman are accused of running a car registration scam in which the rights to high-value number plates were stolen and offered for sale – some for more than £100,000.

“Khan his brother Aamir Khan, 25, and 39-year-old Ayan Ahmed, plus associate Zubair Ahmad, 33, have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud.

“They also face counts of perverting the course of justice after it’s claimed they tried diverting blame to a bogus car dealer.

“In addition, Zahid and Aamir Khan, face charges of concealing and converting criminal property relating to stolen cars running on false plates.

“And Zahid Khan also stands accused of four counts of fraud by false representation after it’s alleged he failed to declare details on car insurance documents.”

However the 31-year-old millionaire businessman, says he is now planning on taking legal action after obtaining footage from the police.

In March last year Khan parked the vehicle on the pavement outside Birmingham Crown Court. He was there to appeal his conviction for forcing tenants out of homes they had rented. He succeeded in overt-turning three charges.

But a month later police seized the Ferrari after pulling him over. When he later appeared in court with papers to prove his ownership of the vehicle, he was told that it had already been destroyed.
