The amount you're considering is lower than 50 million which is the lowest amount you need to buy directly from the FG. Even that window has closed too. Your other option is to buy from the banks in what is called the secondary market. So the banks because they have alot of money, buy from the primary market, then sell to people who can't meet that threshold of 50m through the secondary market.
The tenure (that's the time your principal remains with them) varies and is set by the banks. As of last week, UBA was offering 16.59% for 365 days. It changes everyday and is published daily so you'll need to get into the Bank to find out the day's rate. Assuming you want to purchase with that amount for the 365 days, you get N1,161,300. Paid upfront then your principal will be returned when the tenure expires. So that's for you to decide if it's enough.

A friend just locked in 200 million face value on a one year tenure at 16.59% from UBA. That's a cool 32 million quid received immediately and which he didn't need to put in extra work for and with zero risk. It's a no brainer. Banks too are making it easy because their fixed deposit rate is coming in at 14%. No reasonable person will give the bank money for fixed deposit at 14% when the Baba being FG is giving you 16.59%>. What's more? If you're buying from the TB primary market, that's even more, coming in at 17.59%. and it's paid upfront not like Fixed deposit that pays upon maturity. CBN is beating banks at their own game now.

I didn’t know groundnut/peanut contains that much protein.. I like it very much.

Skipping it for too long is how people start feeling weak, tired, and run down without even knowing why. Below are some food containing protein which you can add to your diet.
1. Beans

This is the real MVP of Nigerian kitchens. Whether it's ewa agoyin, moi moi, akara, or just porridge beans with garri, one cup of cooked beans gives you around 15g of protein. It's filling, it's cheap, and it keeps you strong till your next meal. If you're broke this month, beans should be your best friend.
2. Eggs

Nothing beats an egg for value. A single egg gives you about 6g of protein and it's one of the most "complete" protein sources you can get, meaning it has all the amino acids your body needs. Boil it, fry it, scramble it, put it in your noodles, it doesn't matter. Eggs are cheap, quick, and reliable.
3. Groundnuts (Peanuts)

Don't underestimate this small nut. 100g of groundnuts can give you up to 26g of protein. A handful with garden egg, banana, or just on its own as a snack is enough to hold you down between meals. It's affordable, portable, and you can buy it in any small quantity that fits your pocket.
4. Egusi (Melon Seeds)

Egusi isn't just for making your soup thick and delicious, it's actually a strong protein source too, giving about 24-27g per 100g. Combine it with a little fish or crayfish, and you've got yourself a properly protein-packed soup without spending on meat.
5. Chicken Parts (Wings, Necks, Gizzard)

If you still want that meat feeling without paying premium prices, go for the parts, wings, necks, gizzard. They're way cheaper than a full chicken or chicken breast but still give you that protein and satisfaction.
The Bottom Line

You don't have to be rich to eat protein-rich meals in Nigeria. The truth is, most of these foods are already sitting in your kitchen or your local market, you just need to be intentional about including them in what you eat. Mix your beans with a little egg here, add crayfish there, throw in some groundnut as a snack, and gradually, you'll notice you're eating far better than you think, even on a tight budget.

Economy hard, no doubt. But your health shouldn't suffer because of it. Small, smart choices with what's available and affordable can still keep your body strong and well-fed.

Nice move for less privileged people. I remember when I was doing something like this independently with my aunt. We would find petty traders that need little cash to grow their business, and would dash them 20k. I'm talking of people that hawk ground nut on their heads, road side banana sellers, bole and ground nut sellers, roasted yam sellers etc. The 20k always went a long way in enhancing their already established petty business..

Your point is interesting, but it is based on a misunderstanding.

NFEM is not a second exchange-rate window—it is the market itself. It is where banks and authorised dealers buy and sell foreign exchange, and the official rate is determined from actual trades. Scrapping NFEM would be like shutting down the Stock Exchange because people also trade shares privately.

The other rate you are probably refering to to is the parallel (black) market, not another official CBN window.
Even countries with floating currencies can have parallel markets.
The real objective is not to eliminate every unofficial rate, but to narrow the gap between the official and parallel markets.

The real arbitrage happened under the old system, when government sold dollars at artificially low official rates like 350 while the black market valued them much higher-700 / 750. That encouraged people to buy cheap official dollars and resell them for huge profits.

The Cardoso system is a[b] managed float[/b]. The market largely determines the exchange rate, while the CBN occasionally intervenes to reduce excessive volatility—something many central banks around the world also do.

The answer is therefore not to scrap NFEM, but to deepen it with more liquidity and transparency until the parallel market becomes largely irrelevant.
