EMEKA IHEDIOHA: THE UNKNOWN SAINT AND HIS SEVERAL LOOTS


Each time Emeka Ihedioha or his administration is been talked about or mentioned especially in the scheme of events pertaining to the state, to many who are not grounded or those who has refused to detach their emotions from logic will always see him as the saint, messiah and the best so far.

It has become so because a person of the nature of Emeka Ihedioha is witty, cunning and in fact what a politician shouldn’t be and so playing with the sensibility of Imolites is just but another show in the circus and we forgive those that has reposed so much trust in him, praying that God will continue to use us to liberate his people from falsehood.

While Emeka Ihedioha had chosen “Rebuild Imo” as his 2019 governorship campaign mantra, little did Imolites understood that it was actually a mirage and a facade to clinch the number one position in the state and use it for his personal gains- a rebuild initiative that is centered on PDP displaced politicians and some of his personal projects left unfinished.

The way and manner in which Emeka Ihedioha pursued his ambition to become the Governor in 2019 really explained the proverbial saying that “a toad doesn’t run in the day in vain, it is either the toad is after something or something is after it.” Indeed Emeka Ihedioha was after something and no wonder the irregularities that marred the election that he was erroneously declared as the winner by some agents of INEC playing out the script handed down to them.

It became obvious to us why Emeka Ihedioha refused to construct any road in the state during his administration- one of the pressing needs of Imolites as at that time but vigorously embarked on white elephant project like the construction of 27LGAs Stadia and others was because he was busy looting the state treasury to complete all his personal abandoned projects before he became the Governor.

It is on record that on assumption of Office as the Governor, Emeka Ihedioha brought back workers to the sites of his abandoned projects littered all over the state and in his Mbutu hometown. It extended to looting of the state treasury to buy bulletproof cars and houses as well as other things he coveted during his inglorious administration.

As hard as Imo PDP is trying to canonize Emeka Ihedioha a saint, the stench of his 7 months maladministration is still everywhere, hence, a bad market for them even now and in the future. Imolites are clearly seeing the man behind the mask and never will they be deceived again.

The truth is now in the open as many are insisting that the state government should expedite actions by setting up a panel of inquiry to look into the activities of the then administration of Emeka Ihedioha which was characterized by looting, abuse of office, Executive rascality, personal cum political vendetta amongst many other things. The anti crime commission should swing into action and arrest him without further delay.

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

It has come to the attention of Imo State Government that some persons, are currently engaged in land grabbing, purporting same to have been approved by His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

It has become necessary to state that since his assumption of office as Governor, His Excellency has neither allocated any land to any person nor signed any Certificate of Occupancy.

Government is aware that the persons engaged in these illegal transactions are colluding with unscrupulous land officials to back date their documents.

Government therefore warns that anyone who engages in any illegal land acquisition and development will lose such property through revocation or outright demolition of structures therein.

Government also warns that all lands revoked recently in line with the White Paper on Lands Recovery and Related Matters in Imo State are still prohibited from allocation.

The public is advised to be guided accordingly.

GROUP CALLS FOR THE ARREST AND PROSECUTION OF IRONA AND OTHERS


Following the release of the letter signed by Mr. Uzoahia Benneth, the Transport Officer, Office of the Governor which has been addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command to immediately expedite actions on some individuals who has refused to return government vehicles in their possession since they left office despite all efforts to recover them.

In the letter which has been made public, shows that the immediate past Deputy Governor of Imo State, Hon. Gerald Irona has in his possession a Land Cruiser V8, Land Cruiser V6 and a Toyota Hilux as well as Hon. Jones Onyeriri who was a former member representing Nkwerre federal constituency in the House of Representatives and Hon. Obinna Duruaku both in possession of a Ford Ranger respectively.

Against this backdrop, a socio-political group has lent their voice in calling for the immediate arrest and recovery of all government properties in the possession of the former Deputy Governor Irona and others and accused the immediate past administration of Emeka Ihedioha as corrupt and heavily involved in looting government properties by his appointees.

While the group insists that the commissioner of police should not spare any sacred cow in the move by the state government to recover all that belongs to imo people they enjoined the state government to beam its touch light on the other appointees of the immediate past administration and without delay constitute a panel of inquiry to investigate the previous administration in the state.

They further appealed that while recovery of the government vehicles and other properties from these men is not enough, they should be arrested and prosecuted in order to serve as a deterrent to other greedy politicians in the state.

The group appreciated the firm commitment and resolution of the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma in leaving no stone unturned in the lawful moves to recover all government properties looted by past administrations and called on Imolites to rally round and support the state government.

The Distinguished Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District, Senator Frank Ibezim honoured eighteen (18) Primary School Teachers with Certificates Of Participation and Cash Rewards for their successful participation in the 2021
Teachers' Day Essay Competition championed and sponsored by the Senator. The event took place on the 12th of November, 2021, at the Senator Frank Ibezim (SFI) Constituency Headquarters in Okigwe Local Government Area.

The Primary School teachers who participated in the Essay Competition titled “Why Are Classroom Libraries Important to Schools?” were selected from three (3) Primary Schools from each of the six (6) Local Government Areas of Imo North.

The contest is an integral part of the Classroom Library Project developed by the Okocha Sisters, Renee Okocha and Zara Okocha, through their "I Am the Future of Nigeria youth Initiative" (IFON), which is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO).

You will recall that on the 24th of May 2021, Senator Frank Ibezim formally launched the Classroom Library project in Okigwe and Ehime Local Government Areas respectively.

The great initiative described as visionary by all and sundry has so far received the full support and endorsements of the Imo State Governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the principal officers of the National Assembly, and the Presidency.

It is meant to revive the reading culture in our pupils, renovation and remodelling of libraries at the primary school levels, as well as revamping related infrastructure at the institutions.

The certificates and cash rewards were presented to the awardees at a
ceremony organised by the constituency head office of the Distinguished Senator in Okigwe, Imo State.

The elated and highly motivated teachers were accompanied to the ceremony by their school heads and the Local Government Area Education Secretaries of the Six Local Government Areas who witnessed the presentation.

They described the rewards and recognition accorded to them by Senator Ibezim as an extraordinary and kind gesture and the first of its kind in the history of representation in Okigwe Zone.

ALLIANCE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE IN IMO STATE

Our attention has been drawn to another circus gathering of some displaced politicians of the PDP extraction in Imo State over the weekend in what they branded as “4th Egbu Declaration” which turned out to be an avenue for Emeka Ihedioha to selfishly declare his intention to become the Governor of Imo State in the guise of equity in zoning.

While we have seen the move as a desperate one which calls for a serious check on the person of Emeka Ihedioha and as group concerned with good governance in imo state, it has become imperative that we remind him that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands and so he should first return all that he stole from Imolites or face prosecution.

We want to state categorically that the same Emeka Ihedioha as a federal lawmaker in the House of Representatives siphoned funds that was meant for the construction of the Mbaise ring road and Avutu road, a tripartite funding of the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta, Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) and Imo River Basin which has left those roads as death trap.

It is on record that the Ihedioha farm at Ngor Okpala was a federal government agricultural farm initiative which he converted for personal use and we make bold to say that we have documents to back up our claims.

These are the few out of the many atrocities committed by Emeka Ihedioha as a lawmaker and the many he did during his administration ranging from abuse of office, executive rascality, white elephant projects such as 27LGAs stadia, misappropriation of funds, looting of state treasury, amongst many other things.

We the members of ALLIANCE FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE IN IMO STATE, a socio-political group do hereby call on the State Government and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) to immediately arrest and prosecute Emeka Ihedioha and return all that was looted by his inglorious administration.

We therefore warn the PDP and Emeka Ihedioha to jettison their 2024 guber ambition until all that belongs to state is recovered and stop forthwith the insults on the sensibility of Imolites as Ihedioha is without no sin.

It is obvious that Emeka Ihedioha is a desperate politician who can stop at nothing until his selfish desires are met and can never be trusted with any public position.

OWERRI ZONE INDIGENOUS ASSEMBLY CALLS FOR PROBE OF EMEKA IHEDIOHA ADMINISTRATION


The Owerri Zone Political Assembly has called for the immediate probe of Emeka Ihedioha’s administration in the state while describing the administration as characterized by gross misconduct and administration rascality.

The convener of the Owerri Zone Political Assembly, Hon. Jehosaphat Odunze insisted that the state government without delay should probe the administration of Emeka Ihedioha who was the Governor of the state for 7months. He revealed that despite the short stay of Ihedioha in Office, he looted the state treasury and wasted the meagre resources of the state on white elephant projects that are not verifiable.

He further highlighted such projects as the 9 stadia awarded by Ihedioha in the LGAs of the zone, Over N18.6B contract fund awarded for the Owerri zone roads, no single kilometer road constructed by his administration and his frivolous style of administration.

Hon. Odunze appealed to the state government to immediately constitute a judicial panel of inquiry to look into the activities of the former administration of Emeka Ihedioha without leaving any stone unturned as he is sure that so many irregularities in his administration will be discovered.

He cautioned those calling on the embattled former governor to contest again in the 2024 guber election in the state to desist from such as he has so many questions bordering on corruption and abuse of office to answer and warned the PDP not to shield any corrupt party member including Emeka Ihedioha as they should be democratic in their style of opposition.

2023 IMO GUBER: OWERRI ZONE PDP DECLARES TODAY.

Ahead of the 2023 general election, the leadership of the PDP in Owerri Zone has set aside today Saturday, November 13 for declaration.

Information to this medium revealed that the ceremony which will begin by 12 noon today would have in attendance the PDP big wigs in Owerri Zone as the issue of who flies the party's flag for the Governorship would be the main agenda of the meeting.

Recall that Imo PDP candidate was wrongly and illegally declared winner of the 2019 Governorship election in the State in the person of Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha but was removed by the Supreme Court as Uzodimma was declared the actual winner of the said polls.

However, since assumption of office by Uzodimma on January 2020, the leadership of the PDP in Owerri Zone has not seen anything good in the Uzodimma led administration, even when the present administration pays much attention in developing the said Zone and pays less attention to his Orlu Zone and Okigwe Zones.

Uzodimma led administration has fixed over 40 km of Roads in Owerri Municipal and vowed to complete on going ones as soon as rains are over.

Uzodimma led administration had brought back to the said Zone, most of their Lands forcefully converted into private use by the previous administrations particularly the Okorocha led administration.

Today Traffic jam which Owerri Municipal which has been known for ages and ignored by previous administrations has disappeared as people drive their vehicles with ease in Imo amongst others.

His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma yesterday in the company of the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Macdonald Ebere PhD, received the new Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA), Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh and other Members of the House.

His Excellency expressed understanding of legislative lifestyle and declared the recent events as victory for democracy having being amicably resolved by the Members of the House. He expressed his continous reverence to the principles of separation of powers while however appealing for collaboration with other arms of Government.

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem has been impeached as the Speaker during the House plenary session today following several allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

The former Speaker was impeached following the unanimous decision of the 19 members out of 27 lawmakers in a signed letter read on the floor of the house which accused the former Speaker of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh who is the member representing Obowo State Constituency has been sworn in immediately as the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.

Recall that over the past weeks, the former Speaker Paul Emeziem has been called out to resign and several groups in the state calling on his colleagues to suspend him over what they described as unconstitutional and undemocratic activities of the former Speaker in the State Assembly ranging from Anti-party activities, withholding of members allowances, illegal suspension of 6 members, amongst many other things.

The leader of the political and active group in the APC, Mr. John Imoh while addressing news men in Owerri decried the level and manner of impunity perpetrated by the Speaker against his colleagues and the desecration of the revered hallowed chambers of the Imo State House of Assembly over selfish and inordinate ambition of the speaker.

Describing the anti-party activities of the Speaker, Mr. John highlighted that the Speaker is being used by opposition elements in the state by stirring up rancor in the state House of Assembly through the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker on grounds only known to him and his co-travelers and to distract the state government.

He stated that the Speaker has been undemocratic and his actions unconstitutional such as withholding of House members allowances, illegal suspension of 6 House members, amongst many others and called on the lawmakers to swiftly act by suspending the Speaker if they truly wants to protect the little integrity of the State legislature that has been abused by the Speaker.

The leadership of the group further called on the state leadership of the APC to quickly take necessary actions on the Speaker as his anti-party activities are against the constitution of the APC.

The Speaker, Paul Emeziem has been caught in the webs of socio-political groups in the state that has constantly called for his immediate suspension over his activities lately that shows clear abuse of power and threat to the peace of the state.

WHY THE STATE SHOULD GO THE WAY OF APC

Historically, the month of November is significant and symbolic to Ndigbo's hostoric struggle for freedom, equity and equal opportunity in the Nigerian sociopolitical template. While the legendary great Zik of Africa, the courageous and sensational Ojukwu and maverick Francis A. Nzeribe were born in November, the Anambra election will be taking place a day after the birthday anniversary of yours sincerely.

Politically, Anambra State is now the focus of attention as it goes to the poll tomorrow to determine what happens to the future of the State in the next four years. Anambra holds a lot of importance to the people of South East and Nigeria however way it is looked at. No wonder the attention shift. The contenders representing the major political parties in the game are no push overs and have acquitted themselves in one endeavor or another, thus the keen contest.

For some time now, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have made the state its fortress, the only state its presence is strongly felt in the country. But everything appears to indicate that it will lose the monopoly this time by tomorrow. Anambra election is significant for Ndigbo because it sign posts its readiness to actualize the dream of producing an Igbo president which the South East has been clamouring for. There is no better time to grab the opportunity than now that it beckons. Anambra election is the first right foot to put.

A zone that is clamouring for power rotation is expected to put every foot right leaving no opportunity to chance. Those who root for APGA to maintain their hold are only interested in the narrow individualistic political concern at the expense of the broader interest of ndi Igbo. At a period, every average well-meaning Igbo man is desirous of steering the wheel of political vehicle of this nation drowning ethnic interest and promoting national interest is of utmost priority, hence the conscientious, brilliant and strategic effort by Governor Hope Uzodimma to mobilize the greater percentage of our people into the larger national ship which the All Progressives Congress (APC) represents.

Identifying ourselves with the centre of action through strong participation would certainly provide us with the leverage to contest for a larger portion of the national cake as well as claim everything that rightfully belongs to us. In the Nigeria's political sphere, APGA is like an inconsequential, occupying a small space even among the Igbo it claims to represent its interest. The PDP is like a withering tree tothering and risks collapse any moment.

The massive influx of people from its fold into the APC everywhere you go (apologies to MTN) speaks volumes. More of its people and structures reports indicate, will still collapse into the ruling party. The loss of APGA's deputy governor and six legislators with their constituents and supporters is enough message to Anambra people to make hay while the Sun shines. Anambra people are highly reckoned as wise and intelligent people who makes good choices and decisions that guarantee them huge succeses in business and other endeavors. There is no doubt that they would bring that to bear in tomorrow's election.

A new APC governor in Anambra, plus Dave Umahi of Ebonyi and ever hard working irrepressible Gov Hope Uzodimma of Imo, the chances of Ndigbo securing the presidential ticket would further be strengthened and consolidated. Politics is a game of numbers and unfortunately Ndigbo appears naturally shortchanged in both the number of states, the population and the registered voters. It cannot further withdraw itself by voting APGA with all the baggages and yet expect to reap from the support of others.

To improve the stake of Ndigbo there is every reason for Anambra people to join the national conversation through the instrumentality of the ruling party-the All Progresssives Congress (APC). For ndi Anambra, voting APC tomorrow will broaden the political landscape of unlimited opportunities, economic prosperity and human empowerment. Fortunately, Senator Andy Uba, the governorship candidate of APC is an experienced administrator, skilled power broker and seasoned political team player who have an established network and goodwill across the niger to leverage on for the collective interest of Anambra state in particular and Ndigbo in general.

The political movement of former governors of Anambra moment after living office, points to the incontrovertible fact that AGPA in an instrument for the actualization of the narrow interest of it's operators. All the former governors elected on the APGA platform had all joined a national party immediately after leaving office to engage in national competitiveness- the outgoing governor Willie Obiano will not be an exception!. It is time for brothers and sisters in Anambra to wake up and take their destiny in their hands. There is no better time to do so than now.

It is on this note we call on all Anambrians to file out in their numbers tomorrow November 6, and break the shackles of political stagnation and isolation of over 16 years of their collective life.

Imo Democratic Assembly, A socio-political group in Imo State has called for the immediate suspension of the Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem over what they described as gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Speaking in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, the media spokes person of the group Sis. Georgina Ibezim accused the Speaker of several activities that are undemocratic and unconstitutional ranging from withholding of house members allowances, illegal suspension of 6 house members, undemocratic dealings, amongst many other things and called on the house to act immediately to save the integrity of the state legislature.

The group further accused the speaker of igniting unnecessary war in the State House of Assembly just to satisfy his selfish desires and pointed that he has made himself a willing tool to be used by the enemies of the state government to distract the Governor and make Imo State a war zone.

While encouraging house members to initiate the process of the speaker’s suspension, the group made it clear that Imolites are in support of this motion as they have lost faith in the state legislature under the speakership of Paul Emeziem.

Recall that the Speaker has been fingered over series of accusations of working with some opposition elements in the state to distract the State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and to make Imo ungovernable through his recent activities in the House of Assembly.

Imo Democratic Assembly is one out of many groups in the state that has called for the suspension and removal of the speaker over the same allegations and called on the honorable members to resist every attempt by the speaker to abuse his office.

ISOPADEC DISTRIBUTES RELIEF MATERIALS TO AFFECTED FAMILIES OF IZOMBE COMMUNITY

Recall that His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, during his visit to the Izombe community, promised to set up a bilateral committee for the immediate reconstruction and restoration of the community after the mayhem.

Today, the MD/CEO of ISOPADEC, Chief Charles Orie and his team, arrived at the Izombe Community in the early hours of today with a truck-load of assorted food items, household appliances and other necessities for distribution to the affected families.

In Chief Charles Orie's address, he expressed the commitment of Governor Hope Uzodimma in ensuring a total fulfillment of the Government’s promise and obligations to the people of Izombe. He also stated that the relief materials were just palliatives to cushion the hardship of the people as the Governor has promised to reconstruct the houses affected.
