GOV. UZODIMMA DISSOLVES IMO INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN


His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma has dissolved the 27-man Interim Management Committee Chairmen of Imo State.

The Governor disclosed this after a closed door meeting with them at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers, Government House, Owerri.

At the meeting, Governor Uzodimma thanked them for the services they rendered in their different Local Government Areas since their appointment about two and half years ago and for their loyalty.

The Governor also reiterated his promise to hold the Local Government Area election in Imo State any moment from now.

Governor Uzodimma also told the dissolved IMC Chairmen that his Government will not hesitate to engage their services in other areas they are found capable as APC members.

In their response by the Chairman of ALGON in Imo State, Mr. Willie Okolieogwo, who is also the Chairman of Oru West LGA, the IMC Chairmen promised to remain loyal to the Governor and the APC.

IMO ROAD REVOLUTION: GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA TO FLAG OFF CONSTRUCTION OF TWO FEDERAL ROADS IN THE STATE

Barring any last 1- minute change, all is set for His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to flag off the construction of Owerri,-Mbaise-Umuahia road and the Orlu-Mgbe-Akokwa roads.

These roads are another set in a series of Federal Roads constructed by the Imo State Government under the Shared Prosperity Administration, with the approval and support of the Federal Government.

Over the years, negligence of these roads by previous administration had left them to ruins. The deplorable state. these economic roads had taken a toll on the motorists, residents and business outlets along the routes.

These important road projects would be handled by Craneburg Construction Company and it's expected that within record time, the project will be delivered.

GROUP CALLS FOR INTENSIFIED EFFORTS BY SECURITY AGENCIES AGAINST BANDITRY IN SOUTH EAST



A group known as Indigenous advocacy forum has called on security agencies in the south east to intensify their efforts in flushing out bandits from the region.

Speaking at a public function held recently in Owerri the Imo State Capital, the Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Ezekiel Nwobia appealed to security agencies to swiftly bring the activities of bandits in the South east to an end in order to avert further lose of lives and properties.

He recalled the situation in Orlu as a win over insecurity and enthronement of peace and normalcy while calling on all concerned to rally round the security agencies in the state in their concerted efforts to triumph over bandits.

Mr. Nwobia agonized over the series of attacks carried out by these bandits in the South East which has left both civilians and Security men dead and recounted the recent scenario between the boundary of Imo and Anambra where these enemies of the state have succeeded in cutting off these two state by digging a big gully at one of the states boundaries.

He added that relevant stakeholders must at this perilous time shun from making politically induced comments over the state of insecurity and joins hands together with security men to make the zone a safe heaven where individuals go about their lawful businesses without any fear of intimidation or threat to their lives.

Mr. Ezekiel Nwobia further appreciated the efforts of the state governments in their bid to get rid of bandits in the zone and encouraged them not to relent in the fight against insecurity which will propel peace that will lead to socio-economic developments in the zone.

DSS DEBUNKS ALLEGED EBUBE AGU KILLINGS

The Department of State Services (DSS) has debunked media reports alleging that the Imo State Vigilante - Ebube Agu - killed innocent civilians in Awo-Omamma community of Imo State on Sunday the 17th of July 2022.

The DSS statement rather confirmed that its own men *in joint security operations* with other security agents embarked on an operation on the same day at the Awo Camp of the outlawed Eastern Security Network (ESN).

An apprehended member of the outlawed security unit, Mmerem Chinonso who is in the custody of the DSS also confirmed the said operation to newsmen.

Mmerem, according to the DSS has been aiding security agents in the series of coordinated operations against insecurity in the State.

In his confessional statement during a press briefing in Owerri, Chinonso Mmerem confirmed to newsmen that the Awo-Omamma incident was a joint operation on the Awo camp of the ESN. He also said that those killed during the exchange of gunfire between the bandits and security agents were identifiable members of the outlawed ESN and not innocent victims from a nonexistent *wedding ceremony* as was claimed in certain quarters of the media.

Both statements *validate* the earlier statement by the Imo Governor, Hope Uzodimma, which denied claims that wedding guests were intentionally killed by the State's Vigilante unit.

The Governor's position was based on an interim security report received from Security agencies during the Imo State Security Council meeting held on Monday, 18th July 2022.

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, has approved the appointment of TPL (Barr) Raymond Obioma as the new head of service. The appointment is with immediate effect. He takes over from Dr. Chubuzor Iwagwu.

His Excellency appreciates the contributions of the former Head of Service, Dr. Iwuagwu to the State Civil Service and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

IMO INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT: THE CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF OWERRI/MBAISE/OBOWO/UMUAHIA ROAD



Looking at the Imo of today and yesterday, the comparison will rather leave you in a state of bewilderment as it concerns road construction and rehabilitation. This is because no government in Imo State has invested hugely in quality road construction like the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

“Khaki no be leather” is a clear explanation that although we have seen road been constructed in the past but make no mistake to say they are of good quality and durable as most of them if not all are now history as either acidic rain or torrential rainfall formed the basis of these abysmal outcome by previous administrations in the state.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma and his shared prosperity government standing on the tripod of the 3R mantra initiative of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery has continued to prove his mettle as a government that focused towards bringing a paradigm shift in governance as it concerns road construction and rehabilitation in Imo state.

Imo State is literally a construction site as there is no dilapidated road begging for government attention that has not been noticed. Moreso, many of them have been completed while others are near completion and Imolites without sentiments can truly applaud the state government for this laudable achievements amongst many others.

The Owerri/Mbaise/Obowo/Umuahia road like many other roads in the state has over the years called for government attention as both a link road and a federal road. Previous administrations in the state have only ended up reminding the people how bad that road is through constant “Patch-Patch” work which has continued to deepen the woes of motorists and the dangers that comes with a bad road network.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma understands the cost effect and the bureaucracy associated with construction of federal roads but a leader must at a point take daring steps that can ameliorate the pains of his people irrespective of the consequences and that has given the nod to approve the construction and rehabilitation of the Owerri/Mbaise/Obowo/Umuahia road by Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

While it may not have ended at approving the construction and rehabilitation of the road, the state government have equally awarded the road construction to Craneburg Construction Company, a World Class company that has proven over the years to be one of the best in civil construction using quality and durable materials in line with global best practices.

Craneburg Construction Company is currently working on the Owerri-Orlu road and Owerri-Okigwe road which is near completion and those who ply through these routes can only appreciate the technical know-how of this company as regards to road construction and there is no doubt that the Owerri/Mbaise/Obowo/Umuahia road will receive a similar touch of professionalism, standardization and quality materials that will make the road durable and stand the test of time.

There is no doubt that better days are coming if not already here with us especially with the pace of ongoing road construction in Imo State by the present administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma not to mention other areas of governance which has placed Imo State on the map of socio-economic development and good governance.

GOV. UZODIMMA INSPECTS ONGOING PROJECTS INCLUDING DESILTING OF WATERWAYS, ROADS, AND BALLOON TECHNOLOGY IN THE STATE

In an ongoing process to eradicate flooding, The Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma visited Rapour Junction and Akwakuma road as the desilting of the waterways commences.

The Governor during the inspection urged residents blocking the waterways and drainages to evacuate the structures to enable the free flow of water during the raining season to avoid flooding.

The Governor satisfied at the quality of job on ground also urged the Contractors to hasten efforts.

It is worthy of note that there are positive testimonies of other balloon technology as Egbu / Dick Tiger residents and commuters shower encomium on Governor Hope Uzodimma for the eradication of flood in the major parts of the State.

MASTER PLAN: IMO STATE GOVERNMENT THROUGH OCDA SEALS WRONGFULLY SITED FILLING STATION IN OWERRI.

The State Government through its Development Control Agency, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) on Wednesday sealed an ongoing wrongfully sited Fuel Station along the ever busy Wetheral road, Owerri the State capital.

While coordinating the the Sealing off exercise, the Special Adviser and General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Engr. Francis Chukwu explained that the project violated the Owerri Capital Masterplan, adding that the developer has been served a Stop Work notice earlier by the operatives of the Agency but flouted the directive and went ahead with the construction of the Petrol dispensing facility.

He explained further that the Agency took a proactive measure by sealing off the Fuel Station which is under construction in order to ensure the Safety of lives and property by forestalling the construction of structures that pose danger when sited in residential and densely populated areas.

Engr. Francis Chukwu harped on the need for Developers to make it a point of duty to first visit the Agency with their Building Plans, stressing that it is the only way to ascertain if such building is in accordance with the Owerri Capital City Masterplan or not.

CHIEF JUSTICE OF IMO STATE AND OTHERS SWORN IN BY GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA

The Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has sworn-in the Chief Justice of Imo State, His Lordship Justice Chukwuemeka-Chikeka and the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Victor Okorio and other Judges who were recommended by the National Judicial Council.

The Governor in his address admonished the judges to be steadfast and committed in their duties. He further stated that the time has come to restore the system to a result oriented system, responsive to the yearnings of the people.

His Excellency assured the Judiciary of a continued partnership with the Executive and Legislature in service to the people of Imo State even as he charged them to sustain the hope of the common man in their dispensation of justice.

Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma has extolled the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the country on their robust fight against insecurity.

APC NWC AFFIRMS MACDONALD EBERE LED SWC


The National Working Committee of the APC led by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu has dissociated the party from the purported letter reinstating the embattled Daniel Nwafor Executive of Imo APC which was scripted in error while Validating the Macdonald Ebere led Imo APC SWC as authentic and recognized by law and the party.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yakubu Ajaka after a meeting of the NWC in Abuja declared that the said letter was an error which has since been rescinded by the party and that status quo be maintained which affirms the continued leadership of Macdonald Ebere led SWC while reinstating that the Supreme Court Judgment was very clear as the current Macdonald led SWC was a product of the Congress and the Congress that brought in Nwafor’s Executive has since elapsed by the decision of NEC in 2022.

This is coming after days the controversial letter reinstating Daniel Nwafor Executive that was purportedly signed by the National Secretary of the APC went viral and has since been refuted by the Macdonald Ebere led SWC as well as the APC National Vice Chairman(South East), Ijeomah Arodiogbu.

GOV. HOPE UZODIMMA BEGINS RURAL ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN IMO STATE


In line with his administration’s resolve to ensure rural roads receives government attention through quality road construction, the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma begins rural road construction in Imo State as 15% construction fee has been paid to the contractors.

These roads no doubt are of both economic and social importance to rural dwellers and when completed will serve as a link to the state capital which will further enhance development and quality transformation as well as bring the government closer to the people.

UZODIMMA FELICITATES ARIWOOLA AS THE AG CJN

Imo State Governor Sen. Hope Uzodimma has extended his warm Felicitation to the Hon Justice Olukayode Ariwoola on his appointment and swearing in as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.

In a statement personally signed by him on Tuesday, the Governor noted that with more than 11 years at the Supreme Court and judicial experience that tranversed Lagos, Enugu and Kaduna Divisions of the Appeal Court, the new Chief Justice was "tailor-made for the job".

Uzodimma added that Nigerians were indeed looking forward to a more robust and responsive judiciary that will sustain the gains of democracy under the leadership of Justice Ariwoola.

The Governor said that the Government and people of Imo State wish the new Chief Judge a successful and fruitful tenure.

RE: REINSTATEMENT OF THE DANIEL NWAFOR LED EXECUTIVES


Our attention has been drawn to a purported letter credited to the National Secretary of the APC, wherein it is said to have reinstated the Daniel Nwafor led Executives in IMO APC and were asked to assume their positions for a period of one month which will expire on the 31st July, 2022.

While we have confirmed that the said letter is clowned using our letter head, it is also fake and should be disregarded as another act of mischief makers.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Macdonald Ebere led APC SWC in Imo State is legal and still stands recognized by the NWC led by His Excellency Sen. Abdullahi Adamu of our great party and will not be a party to any kangaroo change.

We therefore appeal to the general public not to be distracted by the handiwork of fake news peddlers as APC remains an organized and united party.

BANK OF INDUSTRY(BOI) WRITES TO IMO STATE GOVERNMENT

-Demands Revoking Of Lands Illegally Owned By Mike Ikeoku


The Bank of Industry(BOI) has written to the Imo State Government to immediately revoke the ownership of lands illegally acquired by Mr. Mike Ikeoku within 2009 and 2010 as they were obtained under false pretence and identity.

According to the information contained in the message by the Industrial bank, it is said that the land under the false ownership of Mike Ikeoku was facilitated by the bank for the state government and so is a property of the state government which is for agricultural practices for the development of the state.

The bank lamented that the said lands were bought through unscrupulous means and frowned that the previous administration in the state failed to take ownership of the lands and utilise the goodwill of the bank in bringing development through the agricultural sector but choose to allow the individual personalise a public property.

BOI therefore appeals to the Imo State Government under the administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma to quickly reclaim these lands and commercialise them for the business of Agriculture that will further boost food productivity in the state.

Recall that the administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma has been aggressive towards the industrialisation of the state and in making sure that youths in the state are gainfully empowered.

It is expected that through the collaborative efforts of the state government and the Bank of Industry, Imo state is set to become an industrialised state as well as promote existing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises(MSME) in the state.

UZODIMMA GRANTS 10-DAY AMNESTY TO BANDITS IN IMO OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES

BUHARI SET TO VISIT IMO FOR PROJECTS COMMISSIONING


His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has granted a 10-day amnesty to bandits operating and hibernating in the forests in Imo State to leave the place immediately and surrender themselves and their arms to their traditional rulers for unconditional pardon or face the consequences.

Governor Uzodimma who spoke at the Government House Chapel Owerri while addressing the congregation after Sunday Service said that government has decided to rid the forests in Imo State of bandits and accordingly, has procured the necessary equipment for the purpose, hence the need for those of them who want to be reintegrated into the society to take advantage of the amnesty and quit now and hand over their arms.

He emphasised that the period of grace will not be extended as those who fail to take advantage of it will have themselves to blame.

The Governor also announced that President Muhammadu Buhari who is expected to declare open the Army Day celebration has also fixed July 12th to 13th, 2022 as the period he would commission the Owerri-Orlu and Owerri-Okigwe roads as well as perform the flag-off of the construction of Owerri - Mbaise - Umuahia (from Fire Service) and the Orlu-Akokwa roads and the foundation laying ceremony of the Imo International Conference Centre in Owerri.

GOVERNOR UZODIMMA CONDOLES WITH ARCHBISHOP LUCIUS UGORJI OVER THE DEMISE OF HIS BROTHER

Governor Hope Uzodimma, today, joined the Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, His Grace Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji at St. Jude's Catholic Parish Naze for the requiem mass of his late brother, Athanasius Ugorji.

In his condolence message, the Governor commiserated with the family of Ugorji on their loss while praying for the repose of the faithful departed.

GOV. UZODIMMA CALLS FOR RESTORATION OF CONFIDENCE IN THE PROCESS OF LAND ALLOCATION IN THE STATE

Governor Hope Uzodimma has called for the restoration of confidence in the process of land allocation in the State.

The Governor made this call today during the inauguration of 11-man Committee members of Imo Land Use Allocation at the Government House Exco Chamber, Owerri.

"Given our recent unsavoury history where one family took advantage of their position of authority and attempted to appropriate most of the choice properties in the state, this Committee must endeavour to restore confidence in the process of land allocation in Imo State", Uzodimma stated.

The Chairman, Barr. Oguajudike in his appreciation remark promised not to disappoint the expectations of both the Government and the people of Imo State.

GOV. HOPE UZODIMMA CONGRATULATES THE NEW ARCHBISHOP OF THE CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF OWERRI


The Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma has congratulated the newly installed Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, His Grace Most Rev. Lucious Iwejuru Ugorji on his installation yesterday after the meritorious retirement of His Grace Most Rev. Anthony J. V. Obinna.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma in his address appreciated Archbishop Obinna for his years of episcopacy while describing the Prelate as a man of God who has been known for his aggressive style of evangelism which has contributed immensely to the growth of the church during his reign as the Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese as well as in the state.

He further congratulated the newly installed Archbishop Ugorji while describing him as a powerful religious leader whose impacts spreads across the nation and appealed for his continuous intercession for the peace and growth of Imo state.

Gov. Uzodimma added that as a young ardent catholic, he has always reverence the presence of Bishops and Priest whenever they come to their Parish and will continue to show his respect for the new Archbishop and prayed that the newly installed Archbishop will lead the flocks of Christ under him towards the right path while pledging his administration’s readiness to assist the new Archbishop and the church whenever it is required.

GOV. UZODIMMA URGES POLICE OFFICERS TO WEAR THEIR RANKS WITH HONOR, DIGNITY

His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has specifically charged newly promoted police officers working in Imo State Government House to wear their new ranks with such honour and dignity as doing so is the first step towards earning more promotions in the future.

The Governor gave the charge at the decoration of four newly promoted police officers, three from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to that of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the fourth officer confirmed as ASP.

The three officers decorated with the rank of DSP were - Ahmed Gana, Abdulmalik Mohammed and Mohammed Suleiman while Ibrahim Abudala was confirmed ASP at the Imo State Government house Pentagon, Owerri, Imo State.

The Governor who was represented at the ceremony by his Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, acknowledged the efforts of the security agencies in the maintenance of peace and protection of lives and property in the State in particular and country at large and commended them for their unrelenting efforts despite all odds.

Anyaehie, on behalf of the people and government of Imo State, thanked the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for finding the officers worthy of promotion to their new ranks.

Addressing the officers earlier, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Barde, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Femi Haruna, advised the officers to endeavour to always carry out their assignments with utmost responsibility, "bearing in mind the discipline for which the Police Force is known for."

Emphasising that discipline is paramount in the Police Force, he urged the officers at all levels to avoid any behaviour that will tarnish the high reputation and image of the profession built overtime.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Emeka Agbo and the Chief Principal Security Officer (CPSO) to the Imo State Government House, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shaba Adamu also joined Anyaehie at the ceremony.

Democracy Advocacy Forum(DAF) has joined the call to sue for peace in Imo State as well as warn the Imo PDP to steer clear of making unguarded utterances that the jeopardized the peace of the state and over heat the polity ahead of 2024 gubernatorial election in the state.

It has become clear to us that the Imo PDP and its desperate politician have started making moves to push their inordinate story alleging that Imo State controlled vigilante group was behind the killing of 3 family members in Okporo Orlu in the state.

We have noticed that since the landmark judgement that dislodged the Imo PDP from the seat of power, they have continued to exhibit traits of bitterness through name calling, propaganda, campaigns of calumny, etc. They have gone as far as supporting and inciting violence in different areas of the state through the unknown gunmen and these they have been doing through the collaborative efforts of some displaced politicians in the state for their selfish interest.

The previous Egbu declaration is another obvious desperate move to get to power by the PDP even when the electoral umpire is yet to lift ban on political activities for 2024. Hiding under the guise of calling for equity, Imo PDP is already preparing grounds to arm to the teeth several groups and individuals to wreck havoc in all the zones of the state in a make-believe move for the agitation of equity in the state.

"In his statement signed by the leader of the group, Hon. Ikonne Maxwell, stated that "late last year, we raised alarm about the level of killing going on in Imo state, we wrote to the government to take action and we were happy with the proactive measure taken to protect lives and properties. The allegation of Imo controlled vigilante group been responsible for the killing of family members in Okporo Orlu is totally targeted at the state government.

Imo PDP and other opposition parties in Imo state should as a mater of urgent, withdraw their arsenal from killing Imolites"

They went further to encourage the state government and charge them to protect the state at all cost.

Democracy Advocacy Forum(DAF) therefore call on Imolites to be on the know of the plans of Imo PDP to unleash terror in the state and appeal to the state government to beef up security in all the parts of the state as well as ensure that politicians found encouraging or sponsoring any act of terrorism in the state are dealt with in accordance with the law.

They also drew the attention of the government to the fact that Imo PDP are doing so just to distabilize and hamper on the massive infrastructural and developmental progress of Orlu zone courtesy of the present Government.

Vigilante not responsible for Okporo killings- Govt


Imo State Government has declared that the state controlled vigilante was not responsible for the recent killing of three family members in Okporo, Orlu local government area.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba in a statement in Owerri deplored the allegation making the rounds that the vigilante carried out the killing.

He said it was ironical that the vigilante being accused of the killing actually took the wounded to the hospital when they were informed of the attack.

He described as unfortunate and provocative the haste with which enemies of the state government rush to the press to level accusations against it to score cheap political points.

According to him, while it is only the police that can make a definite pronouncement on the perpetrators of the crime at the conclusion of exhaustive investigation, the imo vigilante was not responsible at all.

The vigilante operates under the law,infact they work under the supervision of the police and therefore cannot engage in any extra judicial killings", Emelumba submitted.

He warned purveyors of such dangerous and fake news to desist from stoking the embers of crisis in the state.

Said he, Some of them said it was imo vigilante, others said it was Fulani militia,thus creating ethnic tension. My appeal is that they should allow the police do their job"

He said contrary to the wild allegation of the opposition, the vigilante was not set up to witch hunt anybody but to assist the security agencies to maintain law and order.

" They are not mad as to murder People in cold blood. For the avoidance of doubt,imo vigilante is not responsible for the Okporo killings. Mischief makers should stop linking them to the crime", the Commissioner submitted.
