The member representing Ngor Okpala state constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu, Ph.D, has declared that re-election agenda of the state Governor, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma is very crucial for the people of Ngor Okpala.

Rt. Hon. Egu stated this while addressing party stalwarts and stakeholders at Umuneke, the Ngor Okpala council headquarters on Thursday during a special meeting interface between the State leadership of the party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party leaders and supporters of Ngor Okpala extraction.

In his words “ The Governor’s election is very crucial for us to win, we cannot afford to loose an election after we won the state constituency election of March 18th 2023 with a wide margin .”

“ We must rally round, close ranks and come together as a People with unity of purpose, work hard and deliver our Governor come November 11th 2023; By so doing we are reciprocating the Governor for several accomplishments and consolidation of democratic gains such as appointing our sons and daughters to serve at various capacities in the State, road constructions among many other dividends.”

He admonished party supporters to eschew bitterness, rancor, gossips, blackmail and other behaviors that are capable of causing disunity within the party especially now that the gubernatorial election has drawn closer.

He hinted on the need for Ngor Okpala to perch her tent with the party that is in power both at the State and National, adding that its benefits will be enormous for the development and transformation of the area.

Addressing News Men in on Saturday, shortly after the Imo APC stakeholders meeting and unveiling of Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru as Governor Uzodimma’s Running Mate at landmark event center, Owerri, the Ngor Okpala parliamentarian maintained that the choice of a female Running Mate by the Governor has yet again shown that the Governor is gender friendly by harkening to the yearnings of women inclusion and gender equality.

In his word “ Our Governor has displayed his gender friendliness by giving our women sense of inclusion, the choice of lady Ekomaru as his Deputy for the November election is timely and a welcome development. Lady Ekomaru is a home grown Imolite and I’m optimistic that she will add value to the system .“

He scored the Governor high on his several achievements within three years and half in Imo, and called on all and sundry to key into the re-election agenda of the Governor for a more prosperous Imo is guaranteed with him.

Hon. INEC DECLARES OBINNA EGU OF THE APC WINNER OF MARCH 18 IMO ASSEMBLY ELECTION IN NGOR OKPALA.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Hon. Obinna Ambrose Egu of the All Progressives Congress, APC winner of the March 18th Imo State House of Assembly Election in Ngor Okpala constituency.

With a wide winning margin, Hon. Egu polled a total of 8,731 votes to defeat his closest opponent Mr Kingsley Odionyenma (PDP) who polled 4,728 votes, Mr Joel Okere (LP) 4,140 votes and Mr Eziefula Opara of APGA who polled 3,082 votes


It is on record that this is the second time Hon. Egu is winning the State House of Assembly Election since he began his political sojourn in 2011.

The landslide victory is the second time APC is winning the State Assembly Election in the area in 13 months and it has therefore sent a strong signal to the opposition political parties that the APC has a strong grassroots support in Ngor Okpala.

Following the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which stipulated that campaigns of political parties and candidates contesting for the 18th March 2023 Governorship and State Assembly election should end by 24 hours before the date of the election.

Traditional rulers in Ngor-Okpala LGA on Sunday 5th February 2023 expressed confidence with the candidacy of Hon. Obinna Egu (Ph.D), who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for 11th March 2023 State House of Assembly Election, Ngor Okpala Constituency.

The monarchs couldn’t hide their feelings when the campaign train of Dr. Egu touched down the palace of the Chairman of Ngor-Okpala Council of traditional rulers, HRH Eze Fred Ogechi Nwachukwu (Ogboro 1 of Ngor auto. Community).

Addressing the traditional rulers, Chieftains of the APC in the area who embarked on the consultation visit like Chief Val Okere, Prof. B G Nwogu, Commissioner for Science & Technology, Okenze Sylvester Obinna, Ngor-Okpala APC Campaign Council Chairman & Hon. Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu, Incumbent Member Representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency in the 9th Imo Assembly in their separate remarks eulogized the monarchs for their fatherly roles in administering their traditional obligations especially in maintaining peace and tranquility in their various communities.

They presented Dr. Obinna Egu before the traditional rulers and appealed to them to throw their weight of support behind him. They however described him as the most qualified candidate with lots of experience, proven track record, solid educational and family background.

They pointed out the importance of ranking in legislation and emphasized on the need for Hon.Egu to be voted into the House of Assembly come March 11th for a second term in a bid for him to consolidate on the achievements of his first outing and attract more worthwhile developmental projects in Ngor Okpala.They however called on the Royal fathers to bless Hon. Egu just they way they did to Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu and promised that Hon. Egu will not dash their hopes.

In his response, Eze Nwachukwu who spoke on behalf of the Royal fathers thanked the party leaders of APC for their visit while he recalled the cordial relationship that existed between the Royal fathers and Hon. Egu during his first term in the State Assembly and even till date. He maintained that Hon. Obinna whose father, late Justice A.B.C Egu was also a traditional ruler is “their own”.

He also seized the medium to applaud the State governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma for the feat he has achieved so far in delivering the core values of his 3R mantra to the people of Ngor-Okpala and Imo State in general thereby making APC a winning and a sellable party in the State. He also testified of the good efforts of Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu in effective representation and especially in helping to solve the issue of poor electricity supply in many communities in Ngor Okpala.

Eze Nwachukwu expressed confidence that Hon. Obinna Egu will not only do well but will also sustain the good legacies of his first term and that which Hon. Amajirionwu is leaving behind. He poured libations and prayed to God to grant him victory come 11th March 2023.

This is in fulfillment of his academic pursuit as he bags a Ph.D in History and International Studies from the prestigious Imo State University Owerri.

The Ngor Okpala born politician and Flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for March 11th 2023 House of Assembly Election has remained focused towards achieving his set goals as he has never allowed his involvement in politics to distract him from attaining greater heights in Education.

The business of lawmaking goes beyond the statutory oversight functions which oftentimes leaves no impact on the constituents. It is against this backdrop that those who aspire to represent the people must take cognizance of the fact that representation must be translated into what people can see and have a direct impact through quality projects, human capital and infrastructural developments.

Member representing Ngor Okpala state constituency in the Imo State 9th Assembly, Hon. Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu (KSM ) has continued to raise high bar of effective representation in Ngor Okpala with verifiable records as he gives palliatives to ameliorate the effects of inflation as well as proffer solutions to the most pressing needs of his constituents.

On Sunday 18th December 2022, another remarkable feat was attained in addition to his outstanding long records of legislative performance as he doled out Christmas gifts and stimulus packages to indigent constituents and widows in Ngor Okpala.

During the event which held in his Uvuru Ntu residence in Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Amajirionwu seized the medium to thank the beneficiaries for turning out en mass to receive the Christmas packages. He maintained that he is standing on the mandate given to him by Ngor Okpala people during the bye Election of 26th February 2022 and assured them of his personal resolve to turn fortunes around for people of the area through effective representation.

Hon. Amajirionwu blessed the gifts and prayed that all beneficiaries of his kind gesture will live long in good health to witness what the future has in store for them and their families. He however urged them to support, canvass, and vote for Hon. Obinna Egu to succeed him come March 11th 2023 house of assembly election in the area. He stressed that Hon. Ngor Okpala state constituency has continued to fall short of where it should be as regards to development and human capital investment. This is as a result of the obvious neglect by self-serving politicians masquerading as lawmakers representing the area. It is only but the truth to succinctly say that the development seen in Ngor Okpala as at today if not sustained will become history tomorrow.

The APC candidate for Ngor Okpala state constituency seat in the 2023 general election, Hon. Obinna Egu understands better more than any other candidate the need to sustain and further the frontiers of development across every sector in the area. His sincere desire to change the tides cuts across infrastructural and human capital developments, health care delivery, security, agricultural development and other dividends of democracy.

Obinna Egu PhD has once again exhibited uncommon magnanimous sense of effective representation as he doled out drugs and medication worth millions of naira to Umuohiagu community health center.

While handing over the medicaments to the management of the government owned community health care giving facility in Umuohiagu area of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Egu noted that he is sensitive to the yearnings and feelings of his people, hence the need to use his personal contact to facilitate such initiative that will offer free medication to sick patients within Umuohiagu and neighboring communities through the Essential Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

He reiterated his resolve to always provide basic amenities for the benefits of the people and stated that as long as he remains in the political space would continue to partner with government agencies and private sector to bring home dividends to his people.

Hon. Egu cautioned the management and staff of the health center to ensure that the drugs are given to sick patients within their facility at “no cost”(free off charge).

In the words of the delighted Sister in-charge of the health center, Ohiri Jovita eulogized Hon. Egu for this kind gesture and promised that she will ensure that the drugs are administered to sick patients as stipulated.

Community leaders who were on ground to witness the worthwhile moment such as Okenze Clifford Obikara, and Sunny Madu President General of the Community in their separate remarks also showered praises on Hon. Egu. They described him as a worthy son of the soil and assured him of maximum support of the entire community ahead of next year’s election.

As time draws near, it is very good to keep reminding our good people of Ngor Okpala state constituency that there is no bad government but bad representatives. Let us all know that government is a compoundium of people with different ways of life who may some times share the same political ideology.

Basically, the legislative arm of government in a country like Nigeria is an institution of its own. Thus, being just educated is not enough to succeed in it.
Here we are talking about IMHS Ngor-Okpala State constituency. As we do this, let us consider the following:

What we need exactly: We need a representative who is accessible, understanding, educated, experienced and solution oriented.

Political Party barriers: In choosing a better representative, it is obvious we need to look across party boundaries and pick a representative who won't speak only in favour of his party members.

Experience: IMHA is like a war zone where only the strongest survives. Here, we need a representative who is wholly grounded with the affairs and necessary politics of the house.

Capacity: Being a philanthropist and being a true representative are two distinct things. If one campaigns with what he has done for us in the past, it simply means they were doing it for future favour they hope to gain. Capacity is what you could achieve from government when your mates are returning government dividends to their people.

Comparing everyone who is in the race for IMHAS Ngor-Okpala State Constituency, every one of them is a good breed. But if good was enough, there wouldn't have been need for better, and if better was enough, there wouldn't have been need for best.
