northbird:People who dont frequent this axis will always be afraid of it. It's normal. |
I doubt the bolded if not you'd know that . . . Coming from iyana-oba towards mile2 via the service lane the turns available are 1. At trade fair if you intend turning back towards the same place you're coming from (via the service lane only) 2. At alakija (under bridge) if you intend turning back towards where you're coming from (both via service or middle lanes) or branching off towards other locations via agor palace road. 3. At the same alakija (just after passing the bridge descent heading towards mile2) where a section of the road demarcation (culvert) had been taken off to enable motorists leave the service lane and join the middle lane going towards Orile direct. 4. At mile2 (turning back via service lane only) While if you're coming from iyana-oba via the middle lane you can make turns at 1. Alakija by climbing the bridge to either turn back via the middle lane or going through festac to go back via the service lane or branch off towards other locations via ago palace road/navy Town Road. 2. At Alaba Suru if you intend turning back towards where you're coming from via the middle lane only. These are the options currently available to motorists who intend taking detours along that route today plus don't forget that along the stretch of road towards mile2 via the service lane between satellite town and maza-maza you can always take a right turn off the highway into Old ojo Road to go back to any place or turn you missed (back to alakija under bridge) Modified At this spot I wrote of above you can also exit the middle lane from iyana-oba and join the service lane to take the next available right detour straight back to alakija under bridge in case you wish to cancel your one way ticket towards alaba suru/orile. |
vivalavida:You be sabi boy jare. No mind the jjc's ![]() |
MrReeseG:This scenario above is not unique to this axis alone in lagos. There are many of these types of roads where if you mistakenly miss your exit you will have to drive far and wide to return back to base. The way you guys talk it will seem as if its only along lagos badagry express that this stuff happens in lagos. ![]() |
dav1002:Not true. You can branch off at alakija or Mile2. |
SHOOPSYN:Hehehe this life is funny sha, these places you're afraid of are the same places many people are very comfortable with. Most of these places are just along that straight stretch of road from orile to badagry. I understand work is still ongoing on the road but they have gone very far. What exactly do drivers fear going to these routes? Is it Lastma, Vio, frsc, traffic or just plain bad roads? Unless seeing passengers taking you back out is the phobia I don't see why the excessive fear. Truth is that all those state government's forces that terrorise motorists in most other parts of lagos are very laid back and relaxed along that lagos - badagry axis for the usual taxis and private vehicles. Only those hauling goods get jittery and for good reason (customs checkpoints) The only major places I know where you're likely to jam wereys are between mile2 and maza-maza first gate (VIO Office on service lane), between Alakija bridge and Barracks (FRSC office on service lane) and at Okokomaiko/iyana-oba (LASTMA at that under bridge turning towards iyana-school/igando) but all in all those ones at these axis aren't as strict as the ones you usually jam at other places in lagos. When it comes to traffic the major places to watch out for are at volks/alaba and trade fair sides going towards mile2 between the hours of 4:30pm - 6pm (because of traders closing from market) and passing Satellite town on the days when tankers are loading petroleum products from the oil depots because they might cause slight traffic between trade fair and abule-ado where they park and queue, then just before Finaija/Dantata bus stop (between abule-ado and alakija) where they have to turn into ijegun to load their fuel, kero and diesel. If its about bad roads then its unless you're going towards and passing ijanikin you'd encounter it where I'm sure the road work is still ongoing. Well maybe it's because I've been living along this axis since the day I was born that's why it's very comic seeing drivers groan about coming here. I swear if I was driving on ehailing and I encountered any passenger coming towards this side I will first groan because of the location like you guys always do just to get them to take the trip offline so I can hammer full time and very comfortably ![]() I even see residents here complaining that most ehailing drivers don't agree to come to festac/Satellite and I smile. Maybe it's because this is mostly a residential part of the state hence it will be mostly easier to get trips out in the mornings and back in the evenings. |
nifton:Yeah you're correct. Thankfully it's not a geography exam I for fail. ![]() But truth is, in USA driving from one part of the same state to the other part and back can be as if you're driving from lagos to sokoto. Some people even drive more than 50 miles to and from work daily. Factnis that when it comes to road distances their scale is a lot different from ours. |
Pearl1910:I agree with you here. I don't know why they made the road 'one - chance' like. The only middle lane exits available from orile till lasu are at alakija and . . . lol its only at alakija oh ![]() |
ksmart027:No lele bro. On a very wonderful weekend evening we will siddon guzzle ![]() Just remember to wear slippas for head come the location because na him you go take waka go back house that day ![]() |
Pearl1910:I stay in festac. The road from mile 2 to to okoko even to iyana-ishashi is okay. Of you're going that way and wouldn't stop or branch off anywhere before okoko it will pay to join the centre lane (from orile side) but if you will branch off at festac, Satellite, trade fair or barracks then you will be better off staying on the service lane towards that way. Also if find out you're on the centre Lane from orile to mile2 and find out that you will need to branch off anywhere before okoko you should blow to festac (alakija) side and climb that bridge into festac which will take you 360° to join the service lane at the bus stop itself so you can continue to branch off at either trade fair or Satellite Town side. |
Johnchrix:Unless you're using the Nigerian drivers maintenance mentality or our bad roads as context, in oyibo land they are currently using the 2022 camry as taxis and they will clock over 100,000 miles in under 3 years while still looking and performing good enough to be shipped off and sold to us down here as direct clean tokumbo. Remember a regular state in the USA is usually bigger than the whole of Nigeria and people drive across various state lines on a single trip with their vehicles to and fro. Please don't use Nigerian situation to judge the durability of vehicles, it doesn't reflect the real world usability of those cars. |
Macmilla:Maybe you missed it in my prior writeup but let me pen it down here again for you to see below . . . DO NOT FILL THE COOLANT OVERFLOW CONTAINER UNTIL YOU HAVE PROPERLY BLED THE COOLING SYSTEM TO REDUCE THE RISK OF OVERHEATINGDid you see what I typed above? I specifically told him not to fill up his coolant overflow container UNTIL HE HAS PROPERLY BLED THE COOLING SYSTEM OFF AIR . I never said he should be driving around with an empty coolant reservoir. Maybe you didn't comprehend my post well. And back to your other take on an overfilled coolant reservoir causing overheating, I myself have experimented on it and experienced it with several vehicles I've personally driven over the years. I don't know how long you've been driving or how many types of vehicles you've maintained to reach your own conclusion on the matter so I will only let the principle of experience is the best teacher prevail in a debate like this ![]() |
Macmilla:Engine cooling systems are usually close-looped and pressurised. Also as coolant gets hotter it expands and as it gets cooler it contracts. The pressure in your engine block is also going to expand during high temperatures and reduce during cold temperatures. During engine use, as it gets hotter the pressure will build up within the cooling system and will need to be able to get pushed out of the radiator and engine block to make room for the already expanding coolant to flow properly within the system. All that extra pressure during engine use is designed to be routed into the coolant overflow container. If the coolant overflow container is filled up past the recommended level then the calculated pressure buildup in the running engine will exceed the space designed for it in the cooling system and will need to be expelled somehow. Most coolant overflow containers have a pressure release valve/hose built into its cover but I've seen some vehicles where such covers have spoilt, those are the types that have increased risks while being overfilled. Some signs to know that you have overfilled your coolant overflow container is usually when you experience one or more of the following, 1. Hot coolant spilling out of your coolant overflow container onto your other engine components and the floor since the coolant has expanded and has nowhere else to go but out of the coolant overflow container vent valve. 2. Reduced cooling efficiency (the temperature needle on the guage slowly crossing the halfway mark while driving in hold up and sometimes coming back down when on an open road) due to improper ratio of air to coolant in the cooling system. 3. The coolant overflow container will seem to be boiling (as the exessive pressure tries to force its way out of the cover of the overflow container or any available exit hose/pipe if available) 4. The radiator or overflow container itself exploding and gaining a leak if the excess pressure finds its exit via brute force (or any unfortunate outlet like via gaskets, seals or oil cooler lines) On most cars if you overfilled the coolant overflow container it will just spill out the excess coolant from its vent overtime but what if that vent isn't functioning properly? It's better you just take the safe approach and run the vehicle to operating temp and shutting it off to cool very well before topping up the radiator and coolant overflow container to a level between its min and max lines. |
jceesquare:Gravity won't normally pull out half the water from the engine block through the radiator return pipe (especially if there's a thermostat) And even without the engine having a thermostat, gravity can only pull out so much before the water pump would have to do the rest. The piping system in an engine block itself is intricate and gravity won't work properly on many of it's sections with U joints. Remember op asked of a way to remove most of the water from his cooling system before refiling with coolant (which I believe is the best practice) . Another option he has is to locate the engine block coolant drain plug (which i think is overkill) . Let him try to take out all the water first. The only con here is that he will need more coolant to fill the empty engine block plus the radiator as well. His engine isn't going to be overheating by the time he is to be introducing cold coolant into it. He just has to let it reach operating temperature when the thermostat is supposed to be open so most of the water in the engine block can exit via power of the water pump. If you look properly I advised him to keep an eye on his temperature Guage the whole period of bleeding the cooling system. It is only an overheating engine that doesn't require immediate filling with cold water or coolant. . Even if you're driving on a long journey and you stop to open your bonnet and use your hand to feel the two coolant pipes running in-between your engine and radiator, you'd find out that one is of them is hot while one will be relatively cooler to the touch. When your thermostat opens up, the cooler coolant gets sucked into the engine block from the radiator at the same time that the hot coolant is getting pumped out of the engine block and straight into the same radiator to be cooled down by the fans. This method is designed to cause the engine no harm. Its only when temperature has unfortunately gone too high and stayed there for a while before it gets dangerous to pour cold coolant inside it Do you know that the usual 4 cylinder engine block can hold up to 4 litres of water inside its piping at cold start? I still say he does it the way i directed for best results. Even mechanics sometimes run tokumbo replacement engine blocks dry of coolant for some minutes during testing after mounting without adverse effects. Why will someone buy 5 litres of expensive coolant and dilute it with 4 litres of regular water that he is running away from (unless the coolant isn't the pre diluted type) Your way is nice. Its for those who are not too concerned about the already contaminated water mixing with their new coolant. |
Yhemzie:I think he will be better off getting bigger profile tyres instead of those 17 inch rims. If he buys bigger rims he will still buy bigger tyres to fit those new rims thereby spending more (205/60/16 to like say 195/55/17) but will look cool on the ride. If he goes for just bigger tyres he will spend less. (205/60/16 to like say 215/65/16) They will both give him the same or extremely similar results in ride height distance. Another con with the 17 inch rim is that it will give you a harsher ride in terms of road surface vibration (especially if your suspension is not 100%) plus remember you have a spare tyre to also think about at the same time. |
mamman40:I once read somewhere that 2000 and above are accepted. Don't know about 1999. |
alaricsaltzman:Hope your water pump vanes have not deteriorated. If this persists check it. |
yak:The difference in fuel consumption between those two vehicles is like night and day. |
XPaul:If you changed your gearbox and it didn't work properly from first run then it will stay like that or get worse. Exchange it immediately, drain out the ATF (if its original) and use it to test the replacement. |
fineboynl:If there's a thermostat installed it will block the water in the engine block from exiting except the engine gets hot enough to open up the thermostat. |
fineboynl:You can drain all the water out from both the radiator and engine block before filling it with coolant. There are methods to these things. |
alaricsaltzman:First empty the radiator (loosen the drain plug under it) and once the radiator is completely empty switch on your engine for a few minutes until your temperature needle reaches the middle (I am assuming you have a thermostat) and once it reaches the middle you can then switch off the engine, replace the radiator drain plug and then proceed to fill up the radiator with the coolant. Start the engine again and leave the radiator cap open, once the coolant level goes down fill it up, keep filling it up till it's level then replace the cover. Remember to leave the coolant overflow container empty till after the engine has cooled down properly before you can now fill it up with coolant to the recommended level. DO NOT FILL THE COOLANT OVERFLOW CONTAINER UNTIL YOU HAVE PROPERLY BLED THE COOLING SYSTEM TO REDUCE THE RISK OF OVERHEATING |
TheModerator:Hehehe dem born dem Well to ban me? you think I'm like you that opens and operates accounts like person wey get mental problem ![]() That one isn't your main account. https://www.nairaland.com/6318352/crypto-currency-investors-thread/3352#126762318 He has been on the HOT SEAT since yesterday ![]() I really don't blame him for posting my pictures anymore. It's the last kick of a dying horse. Joel aka lrman aka TheModerator I told you that exposing you will cause you grave harm 😆 now I have trailed you to a beloved thread where you wish I never stumbled into. Everyone there must see you for who you are. If you like post my naked pics and family's own I really don't mind ![]() |
Wow! It must be getting really hot for someone on this thread ![]() You expect me to point out exactly where the entity called lrman scammed someone else here even after I have informed you that he operates with numerous other accounts and monikers? Wouldn't you like to know how the moniker/person that scammed someone else is affiliated to lrman? This is becoming Interesting . . . |
Okay I stand corrected The above person that wants me banned has made a total of 6 posts on this crypto thread since inception. He must be a regular member here right? even I myself have made more posts than he has and I only just got here. Well, lrman's numerous childish distractions can never work. Tomorrow we go into phase two of his exposition. |
Please take SPECIAL NOTE of this word or sentence he used in the screenshot below Cho - Cho - Cho It is a word he uses often and naturally while abusing or denigrating another member on this forum with his numerous alternative monikers and accounts. When he uses it he means to call you a talkative and I will show you numerous other monikers of his where he has used that exact sentence/word verbatim while insulting other members on various threads around this forum. The exact date he made this statement against another member here was on the 29th of November 2022 and a link to that post is below https://www.nairaland.com/6318352/crypto-currency-investors-thread/2931#118765372 Look at the exact word I wish to point out to you underlined in blue in the screenshot below

Remember lrman joined this thread and made his first ever post on it on the 11th of August 2022. Now within a month of joining your esteemed thread, take a look at a few of his engagements and discussions with a few other members he met on this thread at that time. take note that I do not know any person he was exchange words with or why, I am just observing his way of using words and insults in his comments at the time and I hope you all also take note of the way he throws his abusive words against other members of this forum around because it is an ingrained character of his. it is something he can never stop doing and a character he can never change no matter the moniker or account he is logged into on this forum. It is embedded in his DNA and if you have been observing his attitude on this thread too you would agree with what I am saying right here concerning his abusive and insultive nature.

As I was saying . . . Whenever this entity called lrman infiltrates a thread on nairaland where he feels comfortable establishing himself as a regular member, he blends in with a couple of unique ways. Chief among which is telling lies and making defamatory statements and accusations against certain well known members of that thread. This style of his makes his presence quickly known and acknowledged by other few members who also might have a bone of contention with that exact member that lrman has decided to hound off the thread. Let me post the first example of such a behaviour I found on his timeline right here on your very crypto thread below. Let me see if anyone here remembers this scene - take proper note of the narratives i circled in blue and the date of that post it will help you understand the next posts I will make pointing out this unique attribute in the person you all know here as lrman

Remember before i began my tirade here I warned you all of some things that you should expect to see. So far 3 of them has happened : 1. He has tried to distract me away from this thread by engaging me with another of his alternate accounts on another section of this forum. 2. He has used an alternate account to post on this thread, quoting and talking with himself and when that got pointed out by me . . . 3. He went to my Facebook profile page to download my pictures to use as blackmail here. Just like clockwork. His modus operandi can never change. but he has only but a few more moments to tick before his batteries are pulled That I promise him. Even if I get banned for a month i will still return to finish what I started here. Its not for my sake or benefit . . . But for the good and safety of all of us normal and sane members of this great forum. Please bear with me. |
That person's post was made when lrman was on a temporary ban by the anti-spambot, see the timeline of that said ban in the screenshot below. please observe the timeline That area I indicated in blue was the exact post that got lrman banned back at that time.
|
My people, please be very observing. The type of entity I am exposing here is a very dangerous and well coordinated snake. Someone a few posts above has called on the mods to ban me and delete all my comments. Now let us take a quick look into that person's prior posts on this forum. Remember that lrman posted in June and went awol for a couple of weeks till later in July? (A quick perusal of his posts history will show he was banned) now This moniker above calling the mods isn't a regular on this thread , maybe it's an alternate account that belongs to one of you here. Below you will see the only time this account made 4 posts on this thread in the past year and they all happened just after the lrman account was on a temporary ban. See the screenshot below.
