If u were/are a Lady, can i take u out for lunch? U so nailed this and i am truly impressed that all hope is not lost for this our generation. #ThankYou.
agabusta:
You lots cannot blackmail the APC and the intelligent people that protested against the irrational removal of subsidy in 2011 by your ignorance (feigned or real) and attempts at prevarication.

Maybe u need to go and have a look at the speeches and arguments of subsidy removal of 2011 again, if indeed your mind is open to unbias.

No one entirely tagged subsidy removal as evil. Infact a lot of APC governors supported subsidy removal.

The CBN governor then, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi supported subsidy removal. A lot of hate-filled souls prefer to lambast that smart man when it is convenient for them and it suits their bigoted position. But prefer to abuse him and call him a bigot if he is on an opposing view to their stance. What an undemocratic animalistic behaviour.

The main opposition to subsidy then was premised on the fact that subsidy rose from about 250,300,350 billion in 2008, 2009 & 2010 respectively to about 1.5trillion in 2011 without any rational explanation from the govt.

The govt itself agreed that the subsidy regime was entrenched in so much corruption, yet no one was brought to book!

That is the greatest disservice that govt did to the nation. How can govt be duped of billions of naira, yet nothing was done to the thieves who were even around govt circles and flaunting their loot, yet you want the citizenry to pay for such ineptitude.

It doesn't happen anywhere!

We cannot be made to pay for the ineptitude and incapacity of the govt.

That singular action of govt at that time, which resulted in the prices of petrol spiralling from 65naira/litre to above 145 naira/litre was very insensitive and wicked.

And I can assure you that anywhere democracy is being practised in the world, that action of the GEJ administration will be resisted by the people. It is so simple. I don't why a lot of you is taking it as personal thing against Jona.

Corruption was on the highest levels, refineries were comatose, govt did not properly sensitize the citizenry before arbitrarily making pump price more than double it's price.

Infact, it was like a coup against the people as this was the new year gift the govt meted out to them, and u think it will not be resisted by civil groups and labour unions??

Sincerely I can recollect that I felt that sharp increase badly. I work in VI and live around Berger. I usually use one full tank to go to work per week. It was so difficult to adjust to the new price. I was formerly filling my tank with about 4k, after the arbitrary increase, it climbed to about 9k. Transportation cost hit the rocks in Lag.

Transportation is expensive in Lag, and waking up to see it has been more than doubled will definitely cause a social upheaval. It doesn't take a genius to predict this.

Increase in fuel price in Nigeria always lead to a corresponding increase in price of a lot of commodities. Which means prices of everything at that time also more than doubled while the citizens were still on same income.

How won't people protest?? Moreso when they were hearing stories of people defrauding the govt of billions of naira and no one was punished.

Now let me tell u the things that has changed.

1. The current subsidy removal did not lead to an unreasonable increase in the price of a litre of petrol.

2. The present govt has shown a readiness to fight corruption by its words and actions. And there was no scadal about people defrauding the govt of billions before the subsidy removal.

3. There is improved sensitization of the people before the subsidy removal. People are now more aware of the advantages of removing subsidy coupled with the fact that d removal will not cause a marked increase in price.

4. Reasonable & intelligent people have seen a genuine attempt by the govt to reactivate the refineries and bring them back to operation. While keeping corruption at the barest minimum thru the operation of the TSA.

5. Reasonable and intelligent people have seen that the govt of the day is trying all it can to block leakages, and are not showing hopelessness in the midst of massive corruption, and are therefore willing to support them by themselves taking on a little liability.

6. The govt of the day took the decision in a strategic way, while hoping before prices pick up in the international market, they would have been able to resuscitate the refineries and up local production.

PoliticsUPDATES: Appeal Court Ruling On Taraba Gov Election Ongoing by Consula(op): 2:14pm On Dec 31, 2015
The Court of Appeal in Abuja sitting in Abuja is set to deliver judgement on the Appeal by the Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku against the ruling of the election petitions tribunal in the state.

The Justice Danladi Abubakar-led tribunal had on November 7 sacked the Peoples Democratic Party’s Ishaku and declared All Progressives Congress’ Aisha Alhassan the winner.

Dissatisfied with tribunal’s judgment, Ishaku filed an appeal, asking the appellate court to set it aside.

In response, Alhassan also cross-appealed the judgment

Ahead of today’s judgment, on December 21, the Justice Abdul Aboki-led five-man bench of the appeal court heard three appeals and a cross-appeal by the APC.

If person for govt mess, na buhari, if police collect 50naira from u , na buhari, very soon if buhari will be blamed for virtually everytin.
Don't get me wrong, its not right for the DSS, to flout orders but the right tin to do is drag them to court not blaming the president. If he interfers, and say release NK today, some people will still come here and lash at him for a dictator he is for unilaterally releasing a man from custody and abandoning due process .....You will even call for his impeachment. How are u sure he gave the order? do u have a proofhuh

This now leaves EMOLGA and PHALGA . That is to say that its Wike's influence vs. Amaechi's influence in the remaining two.

So what happened to the remaining 11 lawmakers?...

Do you have an idea of how court processes work?.... Are you aware that in court, even if the situation is very clear for all to see even in black and white, you still need to provide hard evidence and witnesses to prove your case in court?

The petitioners in the remaining 11 cases were probably not able to provide substantial evidence in court to prove their case that the election was flawed in their locations, hence their elections were not cancelled. The state house of assembly tribunal would not go and borrow evidence from the governorship tribunal to claim that the election was flawed. It is the duty of the individual petitioners in the other 11 cases to go around and gather these evidence.

donogaga:
The Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, on Thursday, escaped death after he was attacked by gunmen suspected to be hired assassins.

The unidentified gunmen shot several times at his vehicle, a Ford Escape.

It was gathered that the incident happened on the Israel Ama Bridge in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local Government Area, at about 8pm as the gunmen were said to have shot at the back seat ostensibly with the belief that Inko-Tariah was sitting in the ‘owner’s’ position.

Fortunately, Inko-Tariah who was on the driver’s seat when the incident happened, was not seen by his assailants as a result of the vehicle’s tinted glasses.

The bullets, according to an eyewitness, had pierced through the tinted glass from the back to the other side of the vehicle, smashing one of the windows in the process.

Narrating his ordeal, Inko-Tariah said he was urged not to stop by his police escort, even as the assailants continued to rain bullets on the back of the vehicle.

Inko-Tariah disclosed that his police escort, who was by his side at the front of the vehicle, immediately opened the front door and shot sporadically to scare the bandits away.

It was learnt that an ex-aide to former governor Peter Odili, Chief Diamond Tobi-West, was also attacked at the same spot penultimate week.

“I am still shocked over what happened. I was completely confused. The police escort told me not to stop the car and that I should continue to move on. It was God that saved my life.

“They (gunmen) thought I was at the back of the car and that was why they targeted that point. With the tinted glasses, they had concluded that I was probably in the owner’s seat and they riddled the back seat with bullets.

“It was a close shave with death and I thank God for His divine intervention. I am a simple man; I don’t owe anybody and I am not covetous. So, why would somebody want to take my life?” a visibly shaken Inko-Tariah said.

He stated that he was on his way back to Port Harcourt after travelling to Boguma to resolve a land dispute.

On whether the attack was politically motivated, the governor’s aide said, “I am not ruling out anything and I am suspecting everything.”

Inko-Tariah, however, disclosed that he had since reported the matter to the state police command with hope that investigation would unmask those behind the attempt on his life.

Contacted, the State Assistant Police Public Relations Office, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she had not been briefed on the matter and promised to speak immediately she got the details.

PoliticsDickson Charges Senators To Confirm Lokpobiri As Minister by Consula(op): 12:48pm On Oct 19, 2015
Governor of Bayelsa state and a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Seriake Dickson, has discarded partisan politics for statesmanship by mobilising members of the national assembly from the state to ensure clearance of the ministerial nominee, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who dumped PDP.

[img][/img]

Governor Dickson, who made the call, when the members under the aegis of National Assembly Caucus Forum paid a condolence visit to him in government house, Yenagoa, over the demise of former governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, urged them to always commit themselves to the unity and progress of the state.

Senator Lokpobiri was one of the prominent PDP members who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC), ditching Governor Dickson’s second tenure project.

Dickson stressed that the development of Bayelsa was paramount regardless of party affiliations or personal interest, expressing his resolve to collaborate with representatives of the state at the national level towards accelerating the pace of development.

He lauded members of the National Assembly from the state to partner with the state government with a view to actualizing its vision, noting that development of the state was a collective responsibility.

On the death of Alamieyeseigha, the governor described the late ex-governor as one of the foremost Ijaw leaders, whose demise has created a vacuum, noting that, one cannot query God, because He giveth and He taketh.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Bayelsa State National Assembly Caucus Forum, Senator Foster Ogola representing Bayelsa West Senatorial district, said Alamieyeseigha was a political colossus, who laid the foundation for the development of the state.

Responding to questions, Ms. Mohammed said conditional grant scheme was a good initiative if it would be applied towards improving healthcare, education, water supply, etc.
